She was the last person I expected to want. Kelly O'Connor. Frail, vulnerable, scared. When I found her bound on a boat, destination unknown, she was only a job.
A means to an end for my security company.
But when we saved her, it wasn't enough. Her broken parts cut everyone around her, including herself. She was dangerous, her pain seeping into me like a toxin. I promised I'd protect her to atone for my mistakes, but I failed her. Just like everyone else.
I shouldn't have been surprised when she disappeared again. I should have said no when they asked me to bring her home. But I was a fool in love, a fool dying for another breath with her in it. So, I agreed to find her a second time. Only this time, the threat was different. With my own heart on the line, I knew the truth. I would do anything to save Kelly O'Connor. Even if I had to save her from herself.
Ellie Isaacson has been an avid reader her whole life, but a couple years ago she had a dream that she just couldn't forget. She cultivated that dream and began writing, which became a dream of a different sort. Ellie is thrilled to be able to share her passion with her readers. As an accountant and an author, she slings numbers by day and words by night. She's also a wife and a mother of two amazing boys and one crazy hellion pup.
Save her from herself is the first book in the Bridgewater spinoff series by this author❣️
This story is fraught with realistic possibilities of what life is like after trauma for a victim and even though there is a trigger warning, I honestly feel like the author dealt with this in a subtle manner and it didn’t come across in an inappropriate way…and I apparently appear to not have any triggers either🙈
Suffice to say I loved Lee and Kelly and all their hardships and fighting to be together or even simply alive to enjoy life🙃 A great story that really sets up a good and exciting future for the Bridgewater series…I can’t wait to meet and discover more about the characters that make Bridgewater what it is😍
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
This is the first book in Ms. Isaacson’s in the Bridgewater Security series. The moment I started it a was all in. Kelly's horrible past and ordeals have a tight grip on her and won’t let go. She lays the blame of her past on her own head. The guilt and pain is just consuming her. She is her own worst enemy. Lee and his team rescue Kelly from every person’s worst nightmare. When he sees her she stirs something in him. Their story is emotional and triggered so many feelings in me. I loved Lee’s unwavering support and love for Kelly. And I admired his dedication to her. He is there for her every step of the way. But Kelly is also stronger than she gives herself credit for. It’s her inner strength and inner will that proves she is truly a fighter and will overcome. The survivor in her soul and spirit is there albeit somewhat bent but never broken. Both of them are heroes in my eyes. I loved this couple and admired them both. Kelly and Lee are amazing characters. I’m looking forward to reading more about the rest of the team ❤️
The title says it all ...Lee really does save Kelly from herself!!! This story is emotional and enthralling, right from the very first sentence you jump right into the action. Kelly's tragic pasts has such a hold on her that it takes Lee's support and love to help her try to get past it. Yes, the hero saves the day but in the long run it's the heroine's inner strength to get better that heals her. That is what I love most about this story it's how Kelly needs Lee in her life but she's the one that fights to be the person he needs her to be. Love all the characters and the camaraderie between them... Some surprises are revealed making me want more from this new series. The drama and excitement carries over from a previous series but it's not necessary to read it. This is a new spinoff series and you'll never be lost, you'll just want to go back and read the Playing with hearts series and all of Ellie Isaacson's books as well.
This is the first book I’ve read that centres around the trauma of r*pe, and as uncomfortable as some parts made me, Isaacson did an amazing job portraying the emotions and ongoing tr@uma that come from that experience. Kelly is a broken woman, and one that no longer sees her self-worth. Despite Lee’s constant caring ways and patience, she still goes through the aftermath of the trauma and I wanted to dive in and help her. She is her own worst enemy for most of the book. It does jump over the healing process a little too quick, and I felt that her healed heart and head are really just bandaided.
Story 3.5 ⭐️ Spice 1.5 🌶️ (which to be honest I had no idea how the author would introduce this considering the storyline, but she did a good job)
Warning - the r*pe scenes are on and off page - be sure to check tr!gger warnings.
Save Her From Herself by Ellie Isaacson is book 1 in the new Bridgewater Security series! It is the story of Lee and Kelly. He and his team just rescued her from a horrifying situation. A situation that she blames herself for. Throughout this book, Kelly is her own worst enemy, so the title is apt. Lee feels like he shouldn’t interfere because she probably wouldn’t like his life.
This story was a little maddening. These two work so hard to stay out of each other’s lives and to lay all blame at their own feet….repeatedly. I liked the story line…and the issues are very real. But, these two characters were difficult for me to care about. Nevertheless, a very good read!!
After reading previous books by Ellie Isaacson, Lee was a character who fascinated me and I desperately wanted to read more about him.
Well, let me tell you, Lee and Kelly's story does not disappoint. After rescuing Kelly from I dire situation, Lee promises to look after her and keep her safe, but has he taken on too much?
Angst is not my thing. However this author has done a good a fabulous job if her intention was to make readers respond with frustration & dislike for Kelly. Despite her trauma, it was super hard to like her. The Author definitely painted Lee well with his struggles of doing his job & dealing with his feelings. I enjoyed the team at Bridgewater. Some suspense & lots of dealing with emotions.
Felt disconnected to me. There was a a lot of bouncing around with the back story and just story in general. And for a FMC to go through the trauma she did there wasn’t much detail to the healing side.
This high quality, crime escape tale is ultra realistic and emotionally charged. The characters are well developed, the dialogue sounds natural, and the modern danger is all too real.
As per the title Save her from Herself was a bumpy but beautiful adventure. Reading this book completely tore at my heart and had me holding my breath. Lee and Kelly are both broken in different ways, yet fins peace and comfort with each other to keep going on. This is my first book by this author, and after finishing it, I absolutely know that I have to read everything she has ever written. This was a heartbreaking but beautifully written masterpiece. Can not wait for book #2
Lee was patient. He helped and rescued Kelly and in end he didn't push her. She was her own worst enemy at times. They each had their own issues it was nice when they finally found their way. I like how it ended it was written in sensual and loving way.
