What secrets lurk within this purr-fect little English village?
Willow spent every childhood summer with her aunt in Catton Strawless, and is now moving in for good into a compact cottage for what she thinks will be a more peaceful pace of life.
But she has barely unpacked her boxes when her neighbour is murdered at night in the picturesque grounds of her manor.
DC Thomas Bardot is on the case, but his boss just wants him to wrap it up in time for dinner.
So Willow takes matters into her own hands with the help of an unusual source, the spirits of deceased cats. Mischievous Loki and sorrowful Luna, still mourning her previous owner's death, will lend their ghostly paws to help her uncover the secrets hidden in the idyllic English countryside.
But as Willow gets closer to the truth, she finds herself in the killer’s sights. Can she and her ghost cats solve the mystery before it’s too late?
Grab a coffee and slice of cake and join Willow and her spectral feline friends in this thrilling cosy mystery, with a splash of romance and a cat café!
I LOVED this book! I've read the holiday short stories about Loki (the ghost cat) last year and was so excited to finally sit down and read the main series. I'm a sucker for cozy mysteries, especially with cats. But this has got to be my favorite.
Willow is so relatable and so funny. Willow is on a mission to solve her neighbor and neighbor's cat's murders to bring them justice! The thing is, there's a list of suspects, including herself, and the detective on the case is infuriating... and attractive. Infuriatingly attractive? He keeps getting in her way! She's also trying to find a job to save the house she inherited from her aunt. Her best friend's cafe isn't getting great business, and she would love to be able to just work there. Life's hard. With the help of her ghost cat Loki and the newly made ghost cat Luna (rip Luna), she investigates the murders.
This book was so fun to read. Very cute and funny, and I'd like to think I'm very good at solving the mysteries before the characters do because they can be a little predictable, but there was a nice twist towards the end that I was not expecting!
This was a great intro into the series. Even though the main focus was a murder mystery, there were a couple of side stories that are great for world building and will keep me reading the rest of the series. I can see the slow burn romance building up, and it's great! I can't wait to see what happens with the cafe and of course I can't wait to see more of Loki and Luna.
Willow lives in a charming cottage inherited from her aunt, and has a hilarious ghost cat companion named Loki. They live in a struggling English village and Willow is trying to find a job, but is distracted by the unexpected murder of her sweet neighbor next door. Stunned by her death, and rattled by the attractive new detective constable Bardot who comes to interview her, she is saddened when Luna, her deceased neighbor’s beautiful cat, turns up dead and in ghost form too.
This cozy mystery has oodles of charm (odd to say I know, when served with the murder on the side!) but it has some surprises and the villain has some real surprises!!! A quite enjoyable novel and an absolutely worthwhile read
When her Aunt Dawn dies and leaves Willow her house, but no money, Willow moves into town and tries to find a job. She’s accompanied by her cat Loki, now a ghost cat having used up all of his 9 lives. Not long after she arrives, her neighbor, actually the owner of the manor house on the property where Willows place is, is found murdered. And somehow the Detective has decided that Willow is a suspect! Willow is a relentless young lady and very determined to find the real killer and prove her innocence. A quick moving story, enhanced by the antics and comments of the, now two, ghost cats!
What could be better than ghost cats! Willow is struggling to find a job. She has moved in to her late aunt's house, but it's not her Aunt haunting her. It's Loki the cat. Willow discovered her friendly next door neighbor has been murdered. And the police are going after the wrong guy. Willow and Loki have to bring the murderer to justice. My only complaint is I was able to wend my way through the red herrings early. But still fun. Likeable characters. Cats. Fun plot. Cats...
As cozy mysteries go, this is a good one. And longer than most. I like to be able to take several days to read one. The 150 page ones just don't have space to flesh out the characters as much as I like. I hope the books in this series flesh out the characters and the town and maybe the neighbors, etc. I will be ordering the 2nd book.
This was a surprise, a new author to me, some very different storylines, absolute pure pleasure to read, it’s got the lot, likeable heroine, unlikely hero, humour and some really strange goings on, can’t recommend this cozy paranormal mystery highly enough.
What could possibly happen when a ghost "cat whisperer" tries to find justice for a murdered neighbor? Danger, intrigue, romance, friendship, and invisible cat rescue? A fun way to find out is to read the book.
This book. Was sad when Willow's neighbor dies along with her cat. The cat is sad cause she wants tons of petting, and since she is a ghost, she hasn't figured out how to turn solid. Determined to find the truth and help willow out.
I found the mystery intriguing. The characters endearing, and the promise of more mysteries with the lovely village, and the ghost cats exciting. Thank you, and I look forward to reading more of your novels.
