Love this book! Inspiring and informational. Thank you for creating a book that helps writers like me focus. Your guidance on the process of publishing and marketing is encouraging. Your book is just what I needed!
I discovered Ms. Corder while listening to a Hal Elrod podcast. They were discussing her new book, "You Must Write a Book" and I was intrigued. I have been trying to write a book for some time and her ideas resonated with me. I immediately purchased the eBook version and added the audio for an extra couple of bucks. I listened in the car while driving the kids around and read the book in the evenings. The motivation and ideas in this book are EXACTLY what I needed. I've gotten more accomplished with my writing in the past few days than I had completed in months. I'm also not nervous and clueless about the marketing process anymore. I have a plan once the book is finished! I have searched for and downloaded every podcast I can find that she participated in to get even more advice and encouragement. If you even have the slightest interest in writing a book... heck, even if it has never crossed your mind... get this book and read it. You MUST write a book!
I bought this book on sale with incredibly low expectations, but I was completely blow away!
This book has changed the way I view writing and marketing entirely. Corder shares her inspiring story about how she went from a moderately successful businesses coach to a knock your socks off author, speaker, and entrepreneur. Her book offers some incredibly useful tips about writing, self-publishing, and using a book to invigorate your business.
This book is for anyone who wants to write a book AND anyone who has never thought about it but is looking for a new way to increase thier market potential.
After reading this I'm convinced that anyone can write a book, and this book will help you do it.
Must read for professionals and everyone else - whether you are considering writing a book or not. This book has some very nice ideas and advice to offer.
I have been talking nonstop about this book! This book is a game changer! If you are ready to uplevel your skills, talent, and reputation then you need to get this book and apply the practices. Since I listened to this book on audibles a couple of months ago, the trajectory for my company has completely elevated. As an author of fiction, I am now re-evaluating my efforts and writing a nonfiction book about the expertise I have in my field. I LOVE that Honoree gives a clear road map that I can actually immediately implement into my life. As if this book could not get even better, the free bonus templates have been life changing. Get this book now if you want to increase your game.
I had previously read several other books by the author and never been let down. However, having already written more than 20 books, I didn’t initially feel any immediate urge to read this one. Nevertheless, I kept coming across it and decided to give it a go. That was a decision I didn’t regret. Although I have plenty of ideas for other books and can see the benefits from writing a book for your business, this book helped my crystallize which direction I should be heading and how to make my upcoming books even more powerful. A great book that inspired me to do even better for myself.
If you own a business and want to increase sales ... if you want impact people with your message ... if you want to take on a challenge that most people WANT to do but actually won't ...
Then you MUST write a book!
Honoree's guide is an excellent resource for writing that book you've always wanted to write. In her unique, fun, breezy style, she will take you through the process of figuring out WHY you must write a book, to actually get it done and out there in the world.
There are a lot of books on writing and publishing. This is the one you need to write that book that has been waiting to get out of your mind--and onto the page--for a long time.
This book was much less about writing a book, and more about cheering you on to market yourself using a book. Not much specific advice. Many repeated phrases and examples, which combined with it being a short book made me feel like it was lacking value. Example: "You know why you should write a book? It's like a business card, but so much better!" - said two dozen times throughout the book.
I made a few highlights for reminders of ideas on how to get reviews early on a future book I might write, but overall the book itself wasn't great.
There's some good information in this book and she practices what she preaches, but I felt her intended audiences are business coaches and small business owners instead of more established professionals (experienced doctors, lawyers, accountants).
She repeats herself a lot. That might be intentional (tell me what you're going to tell me, tell me, then tell me what you told me), but it became annoying after awhile.
I'll read some of the other how-to-write-a-book books she recommends and see if they motivate me more.
this came across a lot like a book that was just written to sell her services and expand her business more than a book to help new writers. didn’t like: points deducted for two prologues. chapter 1 sounds like a salesperson convention. formatting issues in text on kindle version. super salesy. liked: some decent ideas on spreading news about your book as well as places to leave your book (coffee shops, doctor’s offices, etc.; though you’d have to have the money to buy your book to be able to leave it all those places).
Honorée Corder is brilliant. I was first introduced to Honorée by one of my fellow author friends. Like many of the reviewers, I’m a total bibliophile and have always wanted to write a book. You Must Write a Book is by far the best book on writing that I have read. It is full of so many useful and *practical* tips that you can immediately implement. My book is full of highlights and dog ears. If you’re a writer (regardless of where you are in your writing journey), you must buy this book. It is simply wonderful!
I'm already an author, but I've enjoyed Honoree's other books so I wanted to see what she had to say. She is a master at productivity and offered powerful suggestions for getting your ideas on paper. Plus, she offered solutions for launching your book and getting it into the hands of those who need it, which in many cases means giving your book out like candy to reap the real payoff later on. Very positive, inspiring, and helpful.
This book is really informative for those who want to write a book and self-publish it and also piques the interest of those who never have given it a thought. However, the content is rather too repetitive and after a while it feels that the author is not inspiring rather preaching about writing book.
I read this book last October, and also Corder's "Prosperity for Writers" before that. As a direct result, I finished and published my first book that had been languishing in a drawer for YEARS. I have the paperback and audio versions, and have re-listened to this book more than any other in my Audible collection. Buy it and read it and do what it says.
What a great book! Plenty of what to do coupled with lots of how to write your first book. Honoree lays out a plan for you that is both simple and easy to follow. Tons of good ideas and plenty of inspiration throughout the book. If you are an aspiring author, definitely get this book and read it cover to cover.
I know the author from her involvement in the Miracle Morning book series and I was excited to read this book. Before starting it, I was already sold on the idea because I published my first book in 2017. However, this book still had plenty of insight and instruction to offer! I particularly admire the author's commitment to showing the different ways that a book can help you grow your business.
Through this book, Honoree Corder gives aspiring authors the confidence, knowledge and resources to get the book completed and launched successfully. As a first-time author, I picked up several useful tips like preparing a hashtag with the title early in the process, putting the book cover in your email signature months before launch, and setting up the pre-order page.
This is a great book for any professional guiding through the why and the how of why you must write a book. It is one of those books that I will be referencing over and over again throughout my career.
If you ever have thought about writing a book, this will convince you to do it. Then tell you how to do it right. The book that will most change your life is the one you write. This book is second: the one that gets you to do it.
I've always wanted to write a book but always thought it was impossible. After reading this book, looks like writing a book is more doable than I imagined.
Reading this book turned me into an author. A must-read for anyone who enjoys writing and who has ever considered writing a book. Even if you've written a book already, Honoree's advice is sure to useful to anyone who intends to publish a book in the future.
