Faith reached out to me and asked me to read this book. I wasn’t sure what to expect, the concept sounded amazing but as an indie author I wasn’t sure (No offense Faith) 😅. BUT BOY LET ME TELL YOU!

This book was amazing! The world building-phenomenal. The character development- superb. The plot-I’m DYING for the next book!

This is more than a magic story, or a love story, it’s a story about sisters learning to understand and love each other through their differences and realizing they aren’t as different as they once thought. And the love story subplots for both of the sisters was so uniquely different it made it easy to differentiate the two story lines and be excited and hopeful for each one of them. Is your type the dark and brooding? Or golden retriever best friend? Don’t worry, you don’t have to chose ♥️ All of this while still offering amazing plot twists and a cliffhanger that will leave your jaw on the floor (seriously guys, I did NOT see that epilogue coming)!

I truly think this book needs to be in the top 10 YA fantasy books. Faith is beyond talented and deserves all the praise!

This was such a fun read! I was just saying to someone the other day I don’t read enough witch books and then here I go! Super quick read, entertaining the whole time. Writing was nicely done. The color scheme was so great to learn about and I wish I’d got a little more in depth with that. The only reason I’m rating it a 3.75 is because I wish when we got to Aurelia it was more detailed so I can get a real feel for the magic kingdom. However with the ending and my enjoyment for the characters I’m super excited to read the 2nd one.

2.5 stars. This was a quick read and I really liked the idea of the plot of twin sisters who are half witches half human. For me, the execution was just not it. In the beginning you’re thrown into a world where witches exist are kind of expected to know what’s going on and the plot just takes off at full speed after that. The characters felt very flat and robotic. The romantic connection felt forced and not even remotely believable even for YA teenage love. The world building was okay but again could use some more time and development. It just felt very rushed overall. The plot points were such good ideas but not much more development beyond that.

This book was an okay read. Some of the scenes were dragging and then some were very enticing and I wanted to read the next page. The twin sisters should have made up 100 pages before they actually do, which is towards the last 50 pages of the book. Honestly, my favorite character was Logan. He seemed like one of the more well-rounded characters.

Overall, it was a book that covered discrimination and misunderstandings. It was a solid introduction to a series and it’s for those who love witches and mythology.

4.5 stars rounded up.

I received an ebook review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. All of my thoughts are entirely my own.

I really love this book. It's very atmospheric with the setting of normal highschool life and a magical kingdom exclusively for witches. I felt completely immersed in this book in both worlds and the author wrote just enough to set up the setting without being descriptive at all.

I flew through the book and it was hard to put down. The story evolves around twin sisters who are half witch and half human and are completely different and a bit estranged from each other. The book follows both sisters and is written from both of their POV's. I found this incredibly well written because I never felt like I wanted the POV of the other sister while reading and it went back and forth at the right times.

The book is very fast paced which I really enjoyed. Like I said earlier there aren't long descriptive parts just enough to know what's going on and to set the setting and scene which leaves much room for your own imagination and visualisations. I didn't find the book too fast paced either because both the story, the magic system and the worldbuilding are explained and easy to follow.

I really liked the characters in the book and I found myself often rooting for several ones and also despising others. You do get time to get to know them and you learn some backstories as well. I did feel connected to certain characters which I did not expect because this is not a very long book. The author did an amazing job with the characters to be able to connect with them in a short amount of time.

This book is about witches, has romance, suspense and an original magic system based on colors which I found very unique. Despite the fact that the story revolves around teenage girls it also tackles some bigger issues such as bigotry, bullying and hate. Now I am in my thirties and I really enjoyed this book and while it is perfect for the audience of YA I also think this book can be enjoyed by adults as well.

The one thing I did wish though was that the book was longer. I think that there is still so much that can be told storywise but also with the world building. I would love to know more about the history of Aurelia, the royal families, the special school for witches and the colorbased magic system.

I know there is a sequel and be aware that this book does end in a major cliffhanger. I definitely would like to read the sequel and I secretly hope that the author will write more books set in this world.

If you love the following then this is a must read for you:
◇ Witches
◇ Romance
◇ Sibling rivalry
◇ Friends to lovers
◇ Forbidden love
◇ Royalty
◇ Betrayal
◇ Vampires

I also wanted to leave a side note that this book can be read anytime however this book is especially perfect to read and reread during the Fall and spooky season because it is so atmospheric! 🎃
I recommend this book anytime and especially when you're in the mood for Fall vibes and a quick paced book about witches! 🍂

Witches, vampires, shifters, gods, demons, and angels…what more could you want??

The author reached out and provided a free ebook copy of Where Magic Begins. I love supporting Indie Authors but I am new to the reviewing game so I didn’t know what to expect but was delightfully surprised! I also just found out that the second book in the series was released today and have already bought it due to the cliffhanger at the end of this book!

This story is about twin witch sisters who start the book in an intense rivalry. As someone with siblings with whom I did not always get along, the feelings between the sisters were realistic, believable, and helped keep me engaged in the story. It also features two different love stories, secret royalty, and addresses real world issues through a mythical/paranormal world.

My biggest complaint was that I felt that there were a few pacing issues throughout the book. I would have liked to spend more time in the magical world and less time in the high school setting. I felt like learning about Aurelia and the magic system actually led to more questions than they answered and I would have loved if the book had slowed down and developed those storylines in more depth.

Overall, I think this book is perfect for its target audience of 14-17 and if I was still in high school I know I would have related a lot more to the characters and their high school drama/ problems. The story was fun, age appropriate, and made me want to read the next book!

Witches, vampires, birds, and magic—this book had a lot of fun ingredients and a fun vibe overall. The world building was simple and easy to follow, and I appreciated that it was a short, easy read that didn’t try to be overly complex.

That said, I’m a pretty tough critic, and I rarely rate books higher than a 3.5—this one landed around 2.75 for me. The writing felt a little too cheesy at times, and the high school drama was giving me the ick a little bit 😅 That could totally be a me problem though since I have been out of YA age bracket for a bit now. I also found the combination of juvenile tone with occasional bad language and a few spicier references a little odd, especially considering the characters seemed like they were barely 16.

There were a few plot holes and elements that didn’t feel fully explained, and the sister Saria really got on my nerves lol. Still, I can see how younger readers would enjoy this.

Thanks to the author for providing a free ebook copy! 💗

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ ( I gave this one 4.5 stars)

Where Magic Begins completely swept me away! I got so invested in the main characters, especially as an identical twin myself—it was so refreshing to see a story that explored how twins can have their differences and bicker, but still show up for each other when it really matters.

Damian really intrigued me in this first book. I want to believe he has pure intentions… but I’ll be keeping a cautious eye on him in book two (PLEASE be good 😅)
The king? He can absolutely suck it. The queen is a total sweetheart and deserves better.
And Mallory? Evil, manipulative toad energy all the way.

And the epilogue twist? I did NOT see that coming.

I really, really loved this book and can’t wait to dive into the next one 💕

This story is packed with witches, vampires, and werewolves.

It follows twin sisters, Zoe and Saria who are half human half witches living in the humans world. They discover there’s a threat in the witch world , Aurelia, where they meet other witch families and realize they can’t always trust those around them!

There’s enemies to lovers, sibling rivalry, and magic! Perfect spooky season story!!

A YA magical delight! A quick and very fast paced read. I enjoyed the character development of the two sisters. It started off strong and caught my attention, I would just want to see more world building to picture the magical realm better in my mind. I think the storyline is great and has a lot of potential to continue in a series.

This was a fast-paced YA fantasy with witches, half human and half witch twins when their mother broke the law and married a human it broke the family. removed them from the throne and hated by everyone. Sibling rivalry, the sisters Saria and Zoelis must make amends. It was such a fun read. Could of had more world building on the Aurelia kingdom, but I enjoyed the read.

Faith Prince’s Where Magic Begins was a great YA fantasy / romance story that ended on an epic cliffhanger.
Seriously it was a crazy plot twist and cliffhanger😳

I’m glad I accept when Faith asked me to check out one of her books, even though YA usually isn’t my genre.

In this book we get romantasy, sibling rivalry, witches, and even some enemies to lovers! (Who doesn’t love some enemies to lovers?)

There is great world building and I loved the background on the different characters, it made it feel more personal in a way.

I believe anyone with siblings can relate to the sisters in the book, one sister is the pretty and popular girl who is great at sports and has the hot boyfriend. The other is more of an outsider who cares more about her band than school.

Overall it was an easy short read, perfect for anyone who enjoys YA fantasy 12+!

Thank you Faith for sending me an ebook copy of the Crowe Sister Book:1
.
It was like reading a Wattpad novel no offense because I know many people enjoy reading them too but not me (to be honest I haven't read a single Wattpad novel in my whole life) but it was giving Y/N and a bit cringe for me.
Especially Zoeli, gurl get some brain before stealing your sister's power. I hated her POVs like " his jacket smells like musk and masculinity" WHAT IS THIS?? how do you even smell masculinity T-T.
.
The book was so fast-paced and too focused on how their power felt like, going in and out, the girls didn't have much willpower or decision-making skills. I wanted to beat the shit out of them and what happened to Logan??? He was the only character I liked cause he wasn't cocky, cringe, and obnoxious like every other character.
.
BUT I won't say that It was a bad read lmao, you know there's sometimes fun in reading this type of book so if you are bored and wanna read something different, I would totally recommend this

This is a fun YA witchy read. I adored the sibling rivalry, the magical differences between the two and the high school lives of the sisters. They are very different and distinct, we get both POVs - I enjoyed both. The world-building is quite vivid, I don’t want to say too much but I enjoyed the different realms. Some of the politics of the world are mentioned and could be further expanded upon. I want to know more backstory as to why things are as they are. The romance was quite instant (although there’s a reason) but I prefer a slow-burn. I did like the twists and turns, the plot was fast paced, ending on a cliffhanger to draw you in. Overall a great YA witchy read. Thank you to the author for a copy. This is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.

This book was very promising when I first read the blurb, and I started it with the hope of being immersed into a new world with adventure and character growth.

Unfortunately this book did not live up to the hype for me.

There were a few times where I had to reread scenes because I couldn't tell who was talking, Zoeli or Saria. All of the characters felt flat and underdeveloped, and I feel like the author tried to introduce too much into the story too quickly.

My C.A.W.P.I.L.E rating is 3 stars.

As a 27-year-old mom, I usually do not reach for YA novels. Honestly, they’re just not my thing anymore. So when the author reached out to my booksta asking if I’d read this one, I said yes but shoved it to the back burner.

Now that I’ve picked it up… I’m actually loving it. This book is giving me all the nostalgic vibes—Twilight, Teen Wolf, Jennifer’s Body, The Vampire Diaries, Mortal Instruments, even I Am Number Four (which I can’t believe I still remember!).

"I want you to yell at your plant every day.

Excuse me?

Every insult, every negative belief, every belitting or self-depricating thought you have throughout the day. Hold it in and save it up. Then, at night, unleash it all in a brutal tongue-lashing at your plant.

That's weird. And unhinged. If anyone sees me, I'll end up institutionalized.

Then keep your curtains closed. "

The story follows two sisters who know very little about who they are or the world of magic because they’re half-breeds. It weaves together witches, shifters, political intrigue, and class issues in a way that was super engaging. At first, I’ll admit it felt a little cringy—Saria is the bratty popular girl, and Zoeli starts out as a feminist, typical “male-hater,” which felt a little over the top for high schoolers. But once I settled in, there were some genuinely cool moments that kept me hooked, and it became really hard to put down. The conversations and banter between the main characters was really funny and enjoyable.

The writing style is great, and even though I don’t usually read YA, I’m glad I gave this one a chance. It was exactly what I needed to pull me out of a slump, and I’ll most likely continue the series.

My only gripe? The cover. (Real people on covers should honestly be illegal). If this ever gets a cover revamp, I'm buying it ASAP for my bookshelves.

Overall, this was such a feel-good book, and I'm going to start book 2 right now! 4.5 stars, so rounding up to 5! Thank you, Faith, for sending your info my way of booksta!

Thank you Faith Prince for reaching out to me to review ‘Where Magic Begins’.

Normally I am not a huge fan of witches, vampires and werewolves featured in a story, but that wasn’t the case AT ALL in this book. Cast aside from the paranormal world of Aurelia, half-witches twin sisters Zoelie and Saria were forced to grow up in the harsh human world.
Zoeli has never learned to reach her magic’s full potential so instead she puts all her energy into her passion for music with her band. Saria, on the other hand, uses her magic to create a picture-perfect life.

The betrayal of their witch mother by marrying a mortal still impacts some supernatural beings. They are plotting, watching and scheming to destroy the humans. Beginning with the Crowe’s family. Zoeli and Saria are forced to reconnect with their witch side. After a spell gone wrong, Zoeli goes on a discovery to find her power with a certain annoying stalker prince who she can’t seem to get out of her head. And Saria learns the harsh way of who her true friends are and who she is without her magic.

The world-building is truly otherworldly. The unique magic system covers an underlying topic about the upper- and lower classes. I loved the different houses of supernatural creatures and the magic powers. The characters are very well written making them feel real and relatable. They all have their own voices and you can laugh and feel the emotion of the characters. Also, the chemistry and relationships are intriguing and unique.

The story switches from Zoeli’s pov and Saria’s pov making it feel like they are on separate adventures, but there are also some moments where they come together.

Danger lurks behind every corner in this fast-paced spooky YA fantasy romance. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in sibling rivalry, paranormal creatures, witchcraft, forbidden love and political court.

This book was provided to me for free by the author to read and review so thank you so much Faith for providing it to me 🥰

The book is perfect for the young adult genre with the fast pace, teenage relationships and issues that I’m sure a lot of people in that age bracket will relate to. The plot is straight forward and it’s definitely an easy read.

The book tackles heavy topics such as racism, mental health of young people and relationships between siblings and does it in a way that’s very obvious that I think young people who read this will appreciate

As it is so fast paced, it was quite hard to keep up with what was happening and a lot of the relationships felt like they developed too fast as though there wasn’t enough time for them to develop to make it seem real. The two main characters do have depth but I would have loved if the author had explored them even more and really focused on their flaws and how they developed

I think my main critique would be that there’s a lot of informal language? A lot of the conversations between characters went from 0-100 really quickly that it took me out of the world because I was too busy focusing on the language used (for example two characters say ‘I’m going to f—- you up’ on a few occasions) but then again, the informal language is probably appropriate for 17 year olds to use so contextually it does work.

Overall I think this would be a fun read for YAs and YA readers. Every flavour is there and this book just scratches the surface. I would love it if the book was longer so each character can be explored in depth as I desperately want to know more about them. The story ends on a cliffhanger that does have me intrigued to know what will happen next and whether the character development that happened in the first book will reflect in book 2

The blurb might make you think this story is solely from the POV of one sister. The chapters alternate between two sisters: Saria and Zoeli.

{Urban Fantasy or PNR; single POV from each sister; clean? Romance}

This is an interesting delve into what it means if you have powers, versus no powers.
“...but I’ve mastered controlling them. I used to think that was a good thing.”
Two sisters, one heads, with power, one tails, without power. They both get the chance to see what it is like with or without the ability to enthrall humans. The ethical and moral questions abound, but the absolute, most obvious question, is ignored.

Zoeli reaches her late teens without power but counteracts it with music and a healthy sense of self-worth. Upon hearing her aunt state she is worthless and meek, she changes her mind and steals power from her sister Saria. Isn’t that immoral? Isn’t it unethical? Yet the new boy in her life sent to protect her skips right over that question to her inability to control the new power. Apparently, she thinks stealing power is justifiable. Eww.

Saria: the girl who has it all. She can control minds, but feels lonely when she realizes she cannot trust love. Her healing power also keeps her mother alive. When her sister Zoeli steals her power, she realizes who her true friends are and that she doesn’t need to have the power as a crutch.

The Romance
There is a point where Zoeli asks her new boyfriend if their romantic interlude mattered, and I wondered if I missed something. I mean, how can you miss sex scenes? They kissed and possibly groped each other, but any other part must have been closed-door. I think. Oh, I am so embarrassed 🥹.

Zoeli:
“I don’t care if he has the power to stop the world from turning, I’ll out-strum him on my guitar any day of the week.” I love her self-confidence.

Where Magic Begins was a cute witchy YA book! The idea of twin witches and a witch realm initially took my interest!

𝕆𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕧𝕚𝕖𝕨

The biggest thing I enjoyed about this read is the idea of twin witches who are just learning to discover their power and themselves! The dynamic between the sisters felt realistic and showed a struggle between wanting to be yourself and what you think you should be.

Out of all the characters, I liked Saria the best and felt like her development was the most clear. It was interesting to see how a character who relied so heavily on her powers did without them, and I enjoyed reading how she found herself without them!

The story moved fast and definitely felt like it was leading up to something bigger. Multiple characters seemed like they would be having more impact in the next!

The one thing I didn’t love about this book was that certain phrases felt repetitive; the use of ‘nimwit’ was to the point where I wish they would come up with a better insult.

𝔽𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤

The story and characters were cute and I think it would be perfect for a younger reader who’s looking to get into fantasy books! I definitely would have related a lot more to the characters in highschool; which is nothing against this book but I think Im just a bit to old to be the target audience!

If you’re looking for a quick witchy read then this would be it! The idea of twin witches also seemed nostalgic to read about!

Where the Magic Begins by Faith Prince is a young adult fantasy that slowly reeled me in and left me excited for what’s next in the series.

The author kindly reached out and offered me a copy in exchange for an honest review. After reading the synopsis, I was intrigued but I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect going in.

At first, I had a hard time connecting with the main characters, especially Zoeli and her twin sister Saria. Their dynamic felt a little frustrating, and I wasn’t sure I would be able to root for either of them. But then… Damian entered the picture. His mysterious energy and connection to Zoeli completely pulled me in. From that point on, I started enjoying Zoeli’s journey a lot more, and I really hope Damian ends up being one of the good guys.

One of the things that stood out the most was the character development. Zoeli started off as kind of sad and unsure of herself, but by the end, she had really stepped into her own power. Saria’s growth was more subtle but still noticeable. The world-building was also a highlight it felt rich and immersive without being overly complicated.

This book is definitely aimed at a younger YA audience, and I’m totally okay with that. I’ve read a lot of fantasy filled with tension and angst lately, so this was a nice change of pace. It still had danger and magic, but with a softer emotional edge.

By the end, I was hooked. I’m looking forward to continuing the series and seeing where Zoeli’s story goes next.

Quick, fun, witchy read with a twist.

Rounded to 4.5⭐️

It’s been a long while since I’ve read YA but I was pleasantly reminded how fun they can be. It had magical vibes, the sweet butterfly feels, the best banter, sibling rivalry (twins), the cooky aunt, the teenage girl image struggle, shapeshifters, vampires, battle for the throne between founding families, forbidden romance (human and witch, half-breed and human, half-breed and warlock), “I was wrong about you”, possibly fated mates, and a surprise twist.

I’m normally in the super spicy realm so going into a YA I had to shift gears slightly. This was fade to black/closed door with a heavy make-out sesh, fun innuendos, but nothing explicit and only a mentioning of one of the couples sleeping together a bit later. Honesty the way this story was written, I didn’t mind it and enjoyed it.

This is part of a trilogy so I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of them after the little unexpected cliffy at the end.

My only holdup was the overuse of “nimwit half-breed”. It’s used 20 or so times in 200ish pages and although I get the reasonings to use it as a derogatory slur towards the human-witch blend, I just felt it was too much and could’ve been used less and the point still made. It could totally be a me thing as well since again, I don’t read a lot of YA but for those in the genre a lot, might not have an issue with it.

Overall, I did really enjoy the read and am interested in where it goes from here.

❕BOOK REVIEW❕
⭐️ Rating - 4 stars

✨”where magic begins” by Faith Prince ✨

This book is a young adult fantasy about half-human, half-witch twin sisters who don’t have the best relationship. Their mother’s (A witch who’s a royal) marriage to a human broke magical law, and their family were removed from the throne. The consequences of their mother's betrayal force these sisters to reconnect with their witch origins. Throughout the novel, the sisters (who begin as rivals), go on a journey to understand each other and discover their own identities.

I really liked this book. The character development was good and the storyline filled with exciting plot twists, especially the shocking ending, kept me engaged. Although the story began slowly, it became more interesting with each page, eventually grabbing my attention.

The only element I longed for was more world-building. As a fan of fantasy, I enjoy exploring the details of fantasy worlds since it deepens the imagination and adds excitement to the story.

Overall, this book is an excellent read for anyone new to the fantasy genre. It provides a good introduction with its relatable characters and interesting plot twists, making it a good starting point for exploring the world of fantasy.

Thank you faith for reaching out and trusting me with your book.

I normally avoid books that take place in high school because, well, I'm in my late 30s, but the author reached out to me on Instagram, so I decided to give it a go. That said, I did find this book enjoyable. The characters and magic system were interesting. If I had a daughter in her late teens, I would pick up this book for them. It does have at least one fade to black but obvious spicey scene. If that's not something you want your young adult to read, then maybe this wouldn't be for them. I did love the relationship between the sisters and having this story told from both of their PoVs. It was very obvious they were two different people despite being twins, and I never got lost when it switched from one PoV to the other.

My only real complaint was that I wish there had been more world building. I wanted to know more about the magical kingdom and more about the bad guys. It was pretty surface level, and we got glimpses, but I wanted more. I also wanted to know more about the magic system. The colors were such an interesting concept but weren't delved into very much. There was definitely room for the two sisters to learn more about their magical heritage and for us to learn alongside them.

Overall, I enjoyed it and might have to pick up the next one to see where the story goes.

I had a great time reading this YA book.

The two main characters are teenage twin sister witches. They’re half witch and half human, although only one of the sisters has magic and the other... well, she's frustratingly ordinary living in the shadow of her twin.
Their family lives in the human world as their family is exiled from Aurelia. The mixing of blood lines is forbidden in Aurelia and many seem to think that humans are worth no more than slaves/servants. So you can imagine how marrying and having children with one would go.

It’s just like stepping into high school... for a large portion of the book. All of the cattiness, crappy boyfriends, and not knowing who to trust... But with magic in a world where you have to be careful because they don't like/trust witches.

Of course, there are two important male characters. One for each of the sisters. I don't want to say too much but I do enjoy the difference in the dynamics of the relationships.

We do learn about and eventually spend a small amount of time in Aurelia.
I love that each of the different witch family lines shifts into a different creature... lion... wolf... etc.
What intrigues me the most is all the different parties interested in ruling. So the book has the vibe of many villains. Or at least many people that cannot be trusted.

I just has so much fun reading this. As someone that loves YA... Artemis Fowl, Percy Jackson, Witch and Wizard... I had every bit as much fun reading this.
It’s not perfect. It feels bit... rushed? I'm not sure that's it. I guess it feels like there's some descriptions, explanations, and scenes that are shortened or cut to keep the story moving.

BUT if you like YA... and are looking for a page turning, fun book with witches, political intrigue, a splash of vampires, the sweetest teenage love I've read in a while... then give this book a shot.

"I'm amazed by you: your strength, your perseverance, your power."

This is a YA/FTB, fast-paced, easy read.

It's well written and I did like the story, the biggest thing for me here was that I just thought it was a little too fast-paced at times. I'd have liked to have seen a little more development in some places to just slow the book down and help engage with the characters more. There's a lot of info to dissect (though not overly complex) and having more details would have been great.

Ignoring that, I do love a good witches book! The FMC's are 16 year old twins and the book centres around the impact their mother's choice caused. Marrying humans is forbidden, 'half-breeds' are not accepted. So when their witch mother gives up the crown in order to marry her human husband, the chain reaction is far bigger than they ever expected.

A scorned family member and a quest for power throws Zoeli and Saria into a whole world of trouble they weren't ready for.

Vampire, wampires, witches and a light lore history of God's and Demons.

Thank you to the author for reaching out to me with an ebook copy of Where Magic Begins.

This is a YA book, that I would say is great for readers that are 14-17, although it does have a few instances of stronger language.

Even though it is a “younger” YA read for me, I really enjoyed it. The concept of the magic between the sisters and the way their family has been exiled is a great story line. I like how different Saria and Zoeli are, even though they are twins, and they both have some good character growth throughout the book.

I really liked the world building around Aurelia, when Damian takes Zoe for a visit, and wanted a little more of that fleshed out. The twist at the end was definitely a surprise, and the cliffhanger really hooks you on wanting to continue the story in the next book.

One of my biggest issues was the pacing of the story. I felt like it moved too fast at times, like it got put on fast forward. I would not have minded for the book to be a little longer, so it could have focused on a bit more world building and character development.

I was directed to this book by the author and asked for an honest review.

The story is told from the pov of twin sisters Zoeli and Saria, with each chapter dedicated to one in particular. The girls are half witches to a witch mother and human father. Saria has more magical power than Zoeli, but neither girl has been able to gain their full potential due to their mother marrying a human. Seen as a disgrace, their mother was thrown out of the realm where her family The Crowes were royalty.
The story is the first in a trilogy and sees the girls and their parents under threat. Someone is watching the girls, Saria begins to have trouble with her powers, and Zoeli is followed by a mysterious boy.
We have distanced family, feuding siblings, complicated romantic relationships, and unsure friendships. Mix that up with witches, shape-shifting, vampires, and wolves, and you get this fab YA fantasy/romantasy read. A quick and easy read that kept me interested and with a cliffhanger ending that I did not see coming. The ending was so surprising that I immediately searched for and downloaded part 2 to find out more!

2.5 ⭐️

Thank you to Faith for reaching out and asking me to read your book.

This book follows Saria and Zoe, twin sisters who are half human- half witch. One sister has power and the other does not. Their mother was a witch in line for the throne in the magical world of Aurelia. When she fell in love and married a human she was exiled from the magic world. Now, the sisters’ uncle is starting a war to try to take down the current king and put himself back in line for the throne.

I think the story had potential. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the writing style. This book is short, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the story felt rushed. It felt like information was just being given to us rather than having a story unfold where we slowly learn more about the characters, the world, and the magic.
