( Format : Audiobook ) "Something better to do." Very short story, first of four, about a neurotic hiring gnome looking for a new recruit. A neat little tale but more like a chapter than a fully formed book. It was not helped by narrator Jenny Lind, whose reading was a bit nasal, harsh on the ear, not smooth but with some sentences sounding ragged, more like individual spat out words, as well as sounding downbeat and depressed. Also, even though there were only two characters, no attempt was made to give each an individual voice. A more positive narrator could have lifted the whole piece into something fun. Nice quirky idea. Downloaded from FAV without charge.
Amazing how Maria K. The author of this short story is able to beautifully say so much in such a short story It’s hard for me to review after only the first of four books series so give me some time to listen to all four then you’ll get my honest thoughts of it all.
