A wedding brings together three sisters—and an undercurrent of secrets threatens to tear them apart in this seaside romance from author Olivia Miles.
With youngest sister Hallie getting married, the three Walsh sisters reunite at their family’s beach house for the big event. It’s a celebratory affair, rife with cherished traditions.
But families are complicated, and these sisters are no exception. Claire, the eldest, no longer believes in love after years working as a divorce attorney, and she resorts to taking her “work husband” as her date to convince her family otherwise. Middle sister, Amy, fears a confrontation with the man who broke her heart by announcing he was marrying someone else. And although Hallie has always lived a charmed life, she’s getting cold feet about marrying her childhood sweetheart.
As the Walsh sisters grapple with the secrets they’ve kept from one another, they must decide if Hallie’s wedding is a chance to mend mistakes of the past…even if it means confronting their feelings about love, life, and one another.

EXCERPT: A flutter of nerves ran over her stomach as she took the next turn, knowing it would deliver them to Beachnest Cottage in about four minutes, five if she took her foot off the accelerator. 'You really that nervous about seeing your sister?' Gabe didn't miss a thing. She glanced at him. Were her emotions that obvious? But it wasn't just the thought of seeing Hallie. Or even Amy. It was facing this house. The past. The feelings it stirred up. 'Please. She's my sister. What's the worst she can do to me?'

MY THOUGHTS: I do wish the publishers, or whoever writes the synopsis/blurb, wouldn't give away so much of the plot. It almost wasn't worth reading. Rant over.
A Wedding in Driftwood Cove focuses just as much on the relationships between the sisters as it does on the romance between Hallie and Josh. Which was just fine as I found their romance to be cloying and sickly sweet.
I hate to say this, but I didn't particularly like Hallie right up until nearly the end. She is focused on having the 'perfect' wedding to the exclusion of everything else. We don't really get to know Josh at all.
This was a quick, pleasant read, a sweet and cute story, but I wanted more from it. There's quite a bit of unnecessary repetition with the sisters' issues being raised often, and I would have liked a bit more depth to both the characters and the plot.
I did enjoy that, in the end, it became apparent that it isn't the wedding that's important - it's the people.

DISCLOSURE: Thank you to Montlake for providing a digital ARC of A Wedding at Driftwood Cove by Olivia Miles for review. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own personal opinions.
(3.5 Stars) Hallie Walsh is marrying the man she has dated since she was 15. But when her venue is overbooked she can be married in two weeks or wait until the following year. With short notice she calls her two sisters home to Driftwood Cove. Lucky for her middle sister is a professional event planner. She doesn’t love planning weddings but will do anything to help Hallie. Oldest sister Clare is a divorce attorney. She and Hallie haven’t talked in almost a year because Claire said Hallie was too young to get married while at their engagement dinner. She no longer believes in HEA’s. Her work husband Gabe suggests a lot of pressure will be taken off her if she goes home with a boyfriend on hand and volunteers for the task.
The story is about the sisters reconnecting and remembering the bond they once shared. There is also a lot of romance in the air. This is the kind of story that at the 25 percent point I knew how it would all turn out. But the enjoyment was the author getting me to that ending. I was perplexed at the mothers lack of engagement in the wedding process although she does do some matchmaking. I would have liked the reconnection to have included her more.
I’ve only read two books by the author and by coincidence they both had three sisters and a house on the cover. I connected more with these characters making this one a better fit for me. This is easily readable general (women’s) fiction. The story is clean with only a few kisses. Thank you to Montlake for the ARC via NetGalley and I am leaving a voluntary review.
A Wedding in Driftwood Cove is an amusing, heartfelt tale that immerses you into the lives of the Walsh family, especially three sisters, as they gather to celebrate, interrogate, support, heal, grow, communicate, repair relationships, take chances, and start anew.
The prose is rich and sweet. The characters are genuine, reliable, and compassionate. And the plot, including all the subplots, intertwine and unravel effortlessly into a delightful tale of life, loss, love, family, friendship, self-reflection, determination, independence, happiness, revelations, awkward situations, romantic moments, and the special bonds between sisters.
Overall, A Wedding in Driftwood Cove is an absorbing, uplifting, nostalgic tale by Miles that does a lovely job of highlighting her ability to create relatable characters, idyllic places, and captivating storylines that enchant and engage from start to finish.

I found the story to be a slow burner, and not being sure if it was for me. However once I stuck to reading it I did grow to really enjoy it. The book is quite light hearted and an easy read. Unusual for a romance, the book focuses more on the relationships between the sisters with their individual romances being placed almost as side stories. The story overall is really heart-warming and a nice light read particularly for fans of romance novels.
The three Walsh sisters are reunited at their family home Beachnest Cottage when the youngest sister Hallie has to move up her wedding to her childhood sweetheart Josh.
Claire, the oldest sister, has been 'married' to work since their father passed away. As a divorce lawyer, she's experienced countless cases of seemingly perfect marriages that haven't worked out and has become cynical about love. But when her 'work husband' Gabe offers to be her date for Hallie's wedding, she starts to see things in a different light...
Amy, the middle sister, has given up on love since the only guy she has ever loved decided to marry somebody else. Although she's thrown herself into her job as an event planner, there's just one event that she refuses to plan—weddings. When Hallie's wedding is unexpectedly moved up, Amy's expertise is desperately needed. But then she runs into a blast from the past...
Hallie, the youngest sister, thought she always knew what she wanted from life. From her job to her home to the man she's been dating for the past ten years. But she realises just how much she still hasn't experienced and starts to wonder if getting married and settling down is really what she wants...
I found this book to be emotional but endearing. The characters are well portrayed, the feelings realistic, and the plot, while predictable, is heart-warming and sweet. While romance is certainly part of the story, it is essentially about the bonds of family and the relationships between the sisters.
Five stars for an eminently easy and enjoyable read.
Anything with “something Cove” in the title of it has my attention. I’ve not read any other books from this author so I can’t compare to her others. This book was exactly what I expected and hoped it to be. A well written, easy, lighthearted despite the family dynamics, romance in a nostalgic summer location. It wasn’t a quick read, as it was a bit dragged out and uneventful at some points, but still was mostly enjoyable and had a satisfying outcome Based on this book I would read more from this author when I’m in the mood for this style of book.
Thankyou to author Olivia Miles, Netgalley and Montlake publishers for the opportunity to read this book ahead of the publication date.
While this was a slow read for me, and took me awhile to finish, it ended up being a great book. By the middle of the book, you really did become invested in the characters and want to know more about them. The three sisters were written beautifully, and I enjoyed reading about their relationships and lives. This seems like a good read for a vacation - easy, enjoyable read.
A Wedding in Driftwood Cove follows three sisters as they meet up at their childhood holiday home for the youngest sister, Hallie's wedding to her childhood sweetheart Josh. The sisters have some differences but want to put them aside for Hallie's wedding, the key issue being that Claire, the eldest sister, questioned Hallie's decision to get married in the first place. There is also the fact that being back in Driftwood Cove brings back mixed memories for the sisters, including Amy, the middle sister, and her dislike of being involved with weddings and coming face to face with her childhood friend, Logan.
This book was slow but I found it interesting enough to keep going, gradually becoming more invested with the story of each sister. I did want to see how things worked out in the end for each of them. I felt like there was a fair bit of repetition with the issues each of them had, more so because they were raised each time the perspective changed between the three of them. All the drama was left for the last ten to fifteen per cent of the book. Of all the characters, I liked Gabe best, though the others were all likeable. Thank you Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC.
A really cute read about sisters coming together. It was a quick read that I was able to burn through in a couple of hours. Three sisters Hallie, Amy, and Claire are reunited for Hallie's wedding after a year of estrangement. They have completely different approaches to their love lives and difficulties . Honestly, I didn't really like Claire, she had almost no redeeming qualities being a type A workaholic who has no interest in love. I feel like her story was very stagnant and then suddenly wrapped up. Overall a good contemporary novel, I wouldn't call it a romance , but a reuniting of family and the strengthening of a sister bond. I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was an enjoyable easy read with the happy endings you sometimes need in a book. Three sisters returning to the family home for the youngest sisters wedding. All three of them are in someway unsatisfied with their lives but unsure how to change. You follow the sisters in alternating chapters as the wedding day comes close. It’s a very easy read and you can guess the happy endings but that does not detract from the enjoyment. Thanks to Mortlake and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book.3 sisters all gone down a difficult path, are coming together for the yougest’s wedding. Hallie, Amy and Claire, and their mother Bunny, have wonderful family memories in their home at Driftwood Cove and traditions that are passed down at a wedding. Broken hearts, love and happiness is troubling all 3 sisters.
Definitely recommend this book. New authto me and I will definitely look forward to reading more from Olivia Miles
Three sisters, who have grown apart, gather together to celebrate the youngest sister’s wedding. What makes this book a 5 star read is the realness of the story. Life isn’t always sunshine and roses, but often has a way of working itself out as Claire, Amy, and Hallie discover in the days approaching Hallie’s wedding. It’s not your typical easy, breezy romance. Claire struggles with pessimistic view of love and marriage. Amy struggles with heartbreak. Hallie struggles to make her vision of her adult life perfect. As the wedding gets closer, perfect seems to be non-existent. Looks can definitely be deceiving and secrets come to the surface. The sisters think they have each other figured out, when really they don’t. They find that their love for each other grows stronger by the experiences they have had and continue to share. They find relationships may not be perfect or guaranteed, but are totally worth it. The characters seem to pop off the page and you can find parts of yourself in them. This book gives you all the feels.
A Wedding in Driftwood Cove is such an amazing read. I loved this so much. All the highs and lows of emotions the sisters go through as Hallie's wedding day approaches just settles just so in your heart. I love seeing how the sisters grow closer as they air out all their doubts and secrets. You feel for the oldest Claire as she keeps the biggest secret of all. You start to understand her point of view comes from the more you learn. Amy is the middle child and you feel her heartache for her best friend. You understand why she pushes her wedding ideas more and more. Then there is Hallie the youngest of the sisters. She faces the most as the wedding she has dreamed of starts to fall apart. You get why her doubts start to set in. I love how the girls grow closer and work out all their differences. Love may just win for the three of them in the end. I could not put this down. This was a clean, interesting book. Despite it being categorized as a romance (which does occur in the storyline, don’t get me wrong), the larger story focuses on the three sisters and their relationships with each other.
I enjoyed how it explored the perspectives of each sister, and what they were dealing with individually as they moved on from childhood, and the sparkly shininess of innocence tarnished.
The story did start moving in a direction that had me a bit anxious, so I ended up staying awake until midnight to finish it. This still only took maybe 24 hours to read (over a holiday weekend).
I’m only deducting stars because, while the story was interesting, the characters still felt somewhat generic and two-dimensional. It’s not a bad book, but it makes a better story when there’s more depth.
Oldest sister Claire, a divorce attorney, and middle sister Amy, an event planner, return to their family’s beach house for the wedding of youngest sister Hallie, currently living in the house. They’ve drifted apart and Claire and Amy have their reasons for not wanting to return to the beach house they previously loved, but both are determined to show up to help Hallie have the wedding of her dreams. As the sisters come together to finish the wedding plans, old hurts come to the surface, secrets are revealed, and the girls must come to terms with what they learn. Will it destroy their relationship completely or help them heal?
A story of family dynamics, secrets, heartache, second chances, new relationships, and more. Olivia Miles is a new-to-me author. I figured out early on most of what was going to happen but enjoyed following the story along to the end.
Thank you, Goodreads, for providing me with the gift of this book.
This book is perfect for a lazy day of reading, a family reunion and all the feels of healing relationships. This story brings together three sisters and explores their individual experiences, with life, love and each other. There wasn’t a lot of romance but there’s definitely plenty of angst and drama as the story unfolds. The main characters are Hallie, about to be married, Claire who works with divorcing couples and then Amy, who had her heart broken. The three sisters are struggling with their feelings and relationships, will they come to a united understanding? In the end, the story is a delve into relationships with the characters and any romance being secondary, I found myself wondering if there was more to the storyline and the characters.
Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for the chance to read this book.
The story centres on the three Walsh sisters who have drifted apart since their fathers death 8 years earlier but are back together for the week leading up to the wedding of the youngest sister Hallie.
There is a lot that the sisters haven't told each other over the years, and they struggle to reconnect and communicate clearly. Claire is the oldest sister and has buried herself in work and avoids seeing her family or beginning relationships with anyone. Amy is the middle sister who had her heart broken by her childhood best friend who has never opened herself up to loving anyone else. Hallie is the youngest sister who is set to marry her childhood sweetheart and has always had a clear path set for her life.
The story is enjoyable to read and easy to get into. The characters are relatably human and normal.
This book was a big hug for me about sisters Claire, Amy, and Hallie. Each sister has a different life but when it is time to be together for Hallie’s wedding. The book touched so many different emotions while I was reading it. The story was intertwined to make it feel like I have known these sisters my entire life. Reading about each sister and how their lives had so much going on and to be together for the wedding was like looking into a window and watching them interact together. The author has given us a story that is so well written. Thank you for giving me this family and being part of their lives while I was reading. Thank you NetGalley, Olivia Miles and Montlake for the ARC of A Wedding in Driftwood Cove. I received an advance review copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I laughed. I cried. This book had all the feels! It did take a bit for me to get into the story, but once I was invested in the characters, it was a wonderfully sweet read.
Three sisters at different points in their lives. The youngest getting married to her childhood sweetheart.. The middle lost her love five years ago to another woman. The eldest gave up on love after her father died.
Misunderstandings, not speaking up when they should have, and not being truthful in their feelings, have dogged these girls. Each one thinks the other has issues, when it's possible the issues they have are all due to not sharing their feelings with their loves and with each other.
The author was able to show that it's not what you have, it's who you have. Sometimes you have to give up a bit of yourself to get what you need.
Hallie has dreamed of her wedding since she was a little girl. She and her sisters Amy and Claire would play wedding, dressed up in her mother’s veil. Now that she and Josh are ready to walk down the aisle, she’s ready. Or is she?
This is a story about families and their complex relationships. How easy it is for us to hurt those closest to us, even if that’s not our intention. Feelings can be hurt so easily, and secrets hidden eventually come to light. I felt Hallie was a bit immature, but as the youngest sister, it worked. I recommend this book for people who enjoy family stories with female characters.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
Loved this story of these three sisters, Claire, Amy and Hallie. Claire is a divorce attorney and made a comment about Hallie being to young to get married and hadn't visited Driftwood Cove for awhile, Amy is an event planner that hasn't been home for a while either as she has some past issues to forget. Hallie is the only one who stayed and is marrying her long time boyfriend Josh. Hallie has her dream wedding plans and has always stayed in Driftwood. On the day before her wedding when Hallie has doubts the sisters get together and tell secrets that they have held in. To reveal all of this would spoil the story. THIS IS A VERY GOOD READ from OLIVIA MILES.
A Wedding in Driftwood Cove by Olivia Miles is an adorable story of the three Walsh sisters as they reunited to celebrate the wedding of the youngest Hallie to her childhood sweetheart Josh. Claire the oldest is a divorce attorney who is married to her job in New York and Amy is an event planner in Bosten both have not returned home to the holiday home at Driftwood Cove much since the passing of their father.
The book was a very enjoyable read that had you invested in what the three sisters were going through to find their way back to the closeness they had as children. Thank you for a wonderful story.
Oh, a sister story is one of my favorites! This was such a good one. There was definitely romance in this book, but it was not steamy. It was more about family and long term relationships.
I enjoyed that each sister had their own chapters, so you could see the situations from their point of view. They each reacted differently to the family situations. It took them getting back together for the wedding to bring misconceptions up from the past and put them straight.
I enjoyed Olivia Miles writing. A minor complaint for me, was she did repeat a few things ( that is why it is four chairs and not five ). I will go look and see what else she wrote that I might enjoy reading.
I enjoyed the converging storyline of the three sisters and how life events changed how they dealt with life.
The author sent the sisters to extremes with the 1) divorce attorney who refuses to consider that love is real, 2) the event planner who was angry with the guy she loved because she never let him know that she loved him and he met someone else and 3) the sister who wanted to match her mother's perfect wedding to the abandonment of reality.
The last two and a half hours of the story crawled by as the characters went through constant repetitive loops. Cut 90 minutes of that and this is a solid 4 Star clean story for me.
Wedding in Driftwood Cove was a delight! Second chance romance, homecoming and sisters reuniting all in the midst of a quick change in wedding plans. Hallie and Josh planning to be married in the near future suddenly have a change in venue and are to be married in a week. Amy the event planner sister losing her job to go help and finding old love again and Amy the estranged sister coming to the wedding with her work hubby Gabe... do they find love also? A very emotional read Thank you NetGalley for the ARC
This was a fairly light hearted story of 3 very different sisters - each with their own set of issues. Hallie was getting married in 2 weeks but was suddenly having cold feet. Amy dreaded coming back to town as her lost love was also back in town. Claire was the most cold as she thought Hallie was too young to get married and she knew a secret of her parents that had colored her expections of love and marriage. It was an easy read with everyone finding the right solution for them
I got this book from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
For starters the cover is beautiful and really caught my eye. This was an awesome story, It's interesting, entertaining and real with family drama, tension, heartbreak, budding romance and second chances. You easily fall in love with the amazing characters. They pull you into each of their stories and are relatable, engaging and realistic. If you love women's fiction and clean romance with warm and heartfelt characters you’ll fall in love with, then this book is for you with all the feels! I loved it!
Olivia Miles writes a good story about a family which has three sisters. Three sisters and their personal relationships with each other, themselves and loved ones, and I hated that it ended. I wanted more!! Such a good read. I don't do a full blown synopsis the way others do. All I can say is when I find a good author, I stick with them and I'm doing that with Miles. Miles writes an excellent tale and I can't wait to read more from her.
What a wonderful story about sisterhood and the unconditional love that comes with it. I thought all the characters were very likable and relatable, especially with their faults. We're all human after all.
The storyline was great, pacing was easy to keep up with while staying entertained. The setting was just oh so cozy.
A pleasant read. I found that while this is termed a "romance", the story follows the relationship among the sisters more than the romance aspect. Seeing how the sister's come together and the way that their relationship circles back to a positive place was wonderful. Yes, it's a HEA, but not in the traditional romance way. I would recommend this.
