The orcs and humans have recently formed a tentative allyship, ending the decades long feud they have been locked in. Now, the two species are trying to navigate coexisting within their new world. On the night of Lupercalia, a festival celebrating love, Lyra is shocked to see a group of orc soldiers arrive at the human brothel she works at. However, she can’t afford to worry about the one who keeps casting curious looks her way. Lyra is freshly eighteen and in the spirit of the holiday her mistress has decided she would make the ultimate prize by auctioning off her virginity to the highest bidder. She is shocked when the male she caught staring at her earlier seems the most intent on winning her. The young orc soldier named Zhor soon out bids the others; his eyes promising a night of passion that Lyra won’t ever forget. As apprehension gives way to unbridled passion, Lyra grapples with the fact that the feelings growing between her and Zhor can only last the night. Even if she finds herself wishing Lupercalia never ends.
Oh wow just me? Okay well this was a quick steamy read! I loved it but I feel like this couple definitely had the potential to be an amazing full length book. Zhor is just oozing barely contained dominant energy and Lyra is so sweet and receptive. I wanted at least 50 more pages of their exploration of each other and their bond. I loved the story but it left me wanting more, hence the 4 stars.
This was a cute and short read, but the amount of copyediting errors drove me nuts. How were so many periods left out and errors overlooked? Really took me out of the story.
KL Wyatt is back with a short and sweet (or spicy) romance featuring my favorite orcs. The story begins with the perfect meet-cute between a warrior of the Frostwolf clan and a local bar wench. It’s instalove (and lust) for Lyra and Zhor. But there is also a beautiful exploration of learning to love through time and trust, really emphasizing the power of choice. For the fans of tropes, here’s what to expect:
Daddy Issues Fated Mates Virginity Trope Mutual Pleasuring Praise Kink Found Family
This was quick and enjoyable—I didn’t like the fact the heroine was found in a brothel, even tho she hadn’t ever been used before, the hero is her first.
I also would’ve liked it to be more explicit that the hero was a virgin, too. I bought this book because an ad stated he was! But then I read this and I don’t think I remember it even being mentioned, much less telling the heroine.
But what really got me was the ending, it was way too abrupt and felt like the HEA was missed. It needed an epilogue. This could’ve been really good if it was added to just a little bit to make it feel more complete.
Safe. Possible virgin hero. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. No cheating, sharing, OW/OM drama. No epilogue, no babies, no real HEA
Imagine you took the “my family sold me to one direction!!!” and “my virginity is going to be auctioned off at 18” fanfic tropes but made the MMC a horny 19 year old orc and the FMC a freshly 18 brothel worker
the writing is not good I am SO sorry
also why do they spell ugh as “ug” idk that was such an ick to me LMAO
.5 stars for giving her some Girlies who had her back instead of making her the woe is me no one is my friend girls hate me cus im different type of FMC
one more .5 star for transporting me back to my bad fanfic days
pour one out for all the Naruto smut I used to read at far too young an age smh (looking back at it I should have realized I’d grow up to read monster smut. Girl you were reading about KISAME ofc you’re gonna be into orcs smh)
It wasn't the best fluff I have read but it wasn't the absolute worst. Completely little to no plot other than there is some treaty that people and orcs alike must follow and that if you are mates then you can ignore those rules. Zhor stumbles into the brothel with his buddies and he immediately knows that Lyra is his mate. They do some frisky stuff with the money he spent on her but they didn't consummate anything. Some eye-rolling drama including saying "i love you" after maybe 8 hours togehter and they reunite and live happily ever after.

Aaaaaaawww, what a cutty pie! So so sweet and nice, like a fruit cake with a soft biscuit and jam!
Young love with a little drama, not "could I?" drama, but "YOU CAN'T SEPARATE US!" and, well I'm a sucker of good First moments...)
one thing that makes me sad with K.L. Wyatt's books is very sudden ending. like you flip page and... what? where? boom! and you didn't realized this is the end...
Looking at the ratings of others, it spoke to the people. I am not the people...
The word "mate" was used so often, at some point in the book I was expecting it behind or in every single sentence. I looked up how often exactly it was used: 66 times over 68 pages 🙂
I wanted to throw my ipad tbh
Tho, I think it would have had a lot more potential (giving the characters a personality and depth, for example) if it was longer.
Pet peeve, but I have a hard time getting through a book that has more than its fair share of grammatical and spelling errors. I know that’s not a thing for everyone, but it is for me. Finished it because it was short and I hoped the plot would get me there, but ultimately it was a harmless, poorly-punctuated bit of fluff that didn’t do anything for me either way.
This book could be edited better, it's the reason the book got a 3 star rating instead of a 4 star rating. My Orc Valentine is a short easy and fun read. Fated mates, and dual POV. I would recommend this book to anyone who can get past the rough editing and wants a fun read. Enjoy.
it was a good quick read!! i could see some improvement if the writing, but outside of that i loved it! it was kind of odd at first, but i’ve also never read a “monster” romance till now. i was pleasantly surprised! and again, i loved how it was a quick read. i was struggling to decide what to read next and this was a perfect filler for that!
This was a DNF for me. Both MCs are very young, and the author did great portraying their youth, other than that I don't understand this books appeal. The Orc talks like a regular guy - so the author must remind us again and again that he is an orc with an orc D and orc green skin. The word mate is used- a lot.
The story is cute, but good God, the author NEEDS to learn about punctuation. There were so many sentences that just... Ended with nothing. Just like this
It drove me up the WALL batty. Plus the weird thing where she switched between using no contractions and using contractions constantly, the poor grammar... It was a struggle to read.
Okay, overall I liked it, but it was lacking in a lot of areas. I know this is her second book/novella that is published, so I’m not overly upset. I just feel like it could have used a little more editing and detail. If that had happened, I’m sure it would have been a more flushed out story.
I thought I was ready for monster romance. I’ve read all the Sookie Stackhouse books, all off the ACOTAR books. Hell I even read King of blood. But I was wildly underprepared for this one. Dirty dirty dirty. Hahaha!!
I had a good time with this quick, spicy, monster romance. It definitely hit the spot for what I was looking for at the time. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was excited to read these character's story as well. I kind of wish that there was some more to their story, but for what it was it was good.
I adored this story. Lyra and her Orc were so cute when they first laid eyes on each other. It was wild what her “owner” did but all ended well. I hope to read more of these steamy hot Orc romances!
Wonderful book! It's fast paced and full on the romance I was looking for. If you want something that's straight ti the point but takes time where it's needed, this is it.
Short story. Monster romance. Mating. and completely perfect. I really enjoyed this short read. You basically only get to experience a night with this couple and I will say it definitely left me wanting more.
Prett obvious that this is a smut book; although there were some editorial errors it was very well written. I love that it ended on page 69 lol. Although it was very short it was fast paced enough to keep my attention, definitly worth the 6 bucks i spent :)
This was a cute and short little orc story. It really drives home that they are celebrating valentines' day so it's a good little holiday short. The consent is clear and the story is very sweet. Most people would enjoy this!
A cute little palate cleanser. It definitely isn't fade to black, but also not real spicy. Almost the entirety of the book takes place over one night. It was fine reading it without having read the full novel from the series first I understood everything fine without it.
I love These 2 characters so much. It was written so well. I like her books. This is the second book I read of hers. The spice was great. It's good for beginners too for starting reading. Monster romance.
