“This is a well-written, cohesive mystery, with relatable characters, realistic situations and just the right amount of wit. A full five stars out of five!”
—Bob Lind, Echo Magazine on FOXE TAIL
“The writing is fresh; the high school students, particularly two juniors having real interrelationship issues, are engaging, and Skyler’s friends are entertaining.” –Lambda Literary on FOXE TAIL

4 stars!

I started this series quite recently and really enjoyed the first part - we got a solid mystery with interesting characters and nearly no romance.

This part of the story is different: while we still have a mystery, I didn't like this one as much as the first. It wasn't as intriguing and I saw it coming for quite a while. The focus lay much more on the developing relationship between Skyler and Matt. They have their ups and downs; Skyler isn't quick in trusing somebody completely and his attitude towards relationships is coming into their way again and again.

I can't say that I completely fell in love with Skyler and Matt; the dynamics between these two are often odd and I don't find their relationship and the sex they have very hot. I still care for them and I like reading about what's happening in their lives. But I guess that Alex and Ryan, two great secondary characters made this book very enjoyable. I can't wait to read more about them in the upcoming books.

Considering Matt's secret - it really wasn't difficult to figure out and I already knew it before starting to read this second part. I really hope that the third part will be a little better on the mystery side. I'm looking forward to read more about Matt's mission.

Things I Loved:
◆When Skyler played teacher. I think he was most intelligent during this time and less obnoxious.
◆The teenagers: Rick, Alex, Heather, and Amber. Sadly, they are smarter than Skyler!
◆All the great one-liners: Sorry, I'm still lazy and didn't highlight anything this time either.
◆It had lots of Hot Man-Lovin'...
◆When Skyler and Keith danced. Aww, so sweet.

Things That Made Me Go...WTF?!
◆Skyler is still so TSTL! He learned NOTHING in the last book. And he never listens to people that are smarter than him, specifically his BFF with the badge!
◆Skyler keeps a basket off condoms and a pump bottle of lube beside his bed! Could there be a bigger slut?!
◆Skyler's B&E without wearing gloves!
◆THE CLIFFHANGER!!

Things That Made Me Happy:
◆I actually finished the book without throwing my Kindle.
◆I have to wait an indefinite period of time before the finale is released. If I had to read more of Skyler's idiocy right now, I fear I might accidentally on purpose kill him myself.

It may not seem like it but I really do like this series. The writing is good, but unfortunately Skyler frustrates me so much I can only tolerate him in small doses. Still, I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this series.

I am currently on my I-AM-NOT-IN-THE-MOOD-FOR-A-LONG-REVIEW phase, so I'll make it short.

I am a bit disappointed with Foxe Hunt. Because I really enjoyed the first book and was almost sure that the second book would be better.

The most strange thing- I can't even explain WHY I didn't like it as much as I'd hoped.
It was the whole package that didn't work for me:

Skyler. A nice guy next door from the first book turned into a capricious diva who became increasingly annoying.

Keith Fletcher. Gorgeous assistant football coach and biology teacher, a closet teacher. Hunk on a Stick. Walking Wet Dream. Everybody wanted him. Except me. Don't ask me WHY. Just shortly- the chemistry between us was zero.

Sex scenes. There were much more than in the first book. But I wanted to skip them. Not a good sign.

The writing. Well, it was not the writing that kept me on reading.

The good news- I need to know what happens next.

The story, in spite of the fact that my enthusiasm was cooled down, remains puzzling, entertaining and ironically charming.

I'm glad that Haley Walsh doesn't mean it too seriously.

It's why I'll read the next book, But I need a small pause.

So as I said, I can never leave a series up in the air and that is why I went straight on to book two in this series. There is something to be said in waiting until all books have been published before embarking on a series and I must admit it’s great being able to segue from one book to another especially when the ending of each book leaves you on a bit of a cliff hanger and wanting to know what’s coming next. I also love it when you start to get invested in a series, its characters and when the sequel is just that bit better than the first book.

Once again Skyler Foxe, English teacher extraordinaire, just can’t keep his nose out things. Fate seems to pursue him especially when it comes to stumbling across a murder or two. Here it is to do with the suicide of a friend, or is it a suicide? Well, this is the one thing that Skyler is not prepared to accept and leads him into all kinds of trouble. What I also liked about this book is the somewhat political backdrop that revolves around this particular murder-mystery. Skyler's two friends, Evan and Jeff, are war veterans, they served in the military, did incredibly heroic things but then one lands in a wheelchair and is discharged, the other gets a dishonourable discharge as it comes out they are gay. The only reason that Evan didn’t get a dishonourable discharge was due to his injuries. Even in the short space of time since this book has been written thank goodness things are better but for these young men it’s a disaster that can lead to all kinds of financial trouble not to mention the mental health issues of depression, etc. too. I felt so sorry for these guys, unfairly treated in all respects but still sticking together until the unthinkable happens.

It wasn’t only Skyler who was upset, I was too! However, there are a few things that don’t add up for Skyler over Evan’s suicide and when the police initially arrest Jeff for the murder then that is the last straw. Of course this does not help the relationship with his best friend Sidney who has just gone and arrested Jeff. You know, I love the dynamics between these two. I can feel the bond they have for each other as friends, always there for each other, ribbing and egging each other on, always there for support, even if the friendship is temporarily on an hiatus due Sidney arresting Jeff. You just know they are going to work things out.

It’s also the dialogues that bring these characters to life for me, there were moments this time around where I was laughing out loud, possibly with a snort or two! I love a story that although you have the serious business of solving a murder it’s by no means dark and brooding but has a real romantic comedy feel to it too. It’s like Nancy Drew meets The Famous Five; add in a rainbow flag, glitter, Calvin Klein, a good dose of snark and you have pure entertainment at its best with Skyler Foxe and the SFC. I just love the way how Skyler’s band of friends were brought together in the first book, but in the second I really got to feel how this bond strengthens and deepens as Skyler always manages to brings them in on the trouble too. Yes, enjoying this bunch of zany characters all the way. Just listen to the excerpt to get the idea.

So, what s with Mr Wet Dream Sex on Legs? Well, Skyler falls for Keith big time, at least we the reader knows that the message just hasn’t got through to Skyler’s brain yet. So although they feel a deep connection for one another and the physical is HOT, both are infuriating together as well. It’s a kind of relationship that’s like a Belisha beacon, on-off-on-off-on-off, I think you have the picture. There were times I wanted to bash their heads together and then bash their heads separately. Skyler until now having only played the field and not sure about how to cope in a monogamous, long term relationship. Sort of scares him and yet knows it’s what he wants. Then we have Mr Only One Guy for Me Keith, who can get in a snit with jealousy over trivial things, this drives Skyler nuts. However, there is still a secretive side to Keith that still makes Skyler unsure of his motives, he knows the man can be trusted but then there are so many questions unanswered, especially when Skyler catches him doing something which raises the suspicions all over again, it would me too. About halfway though the book I had a theory about Keith and who he actually is. I had to wait until the very end of the book, but – HA! – yes, I was right! Now the question is going to be just how are they going to work things out.

So another murder solved, the bigger mystery surrounding the school still has to be solved, Sklyer has some serious thinking to do over Keith, and Keith needs to come clean if he’s going to keep Skyler! Yes, I’m really into this series now and will be gracefully segueing myself to the third book with a gap so small you wouldn’t be able to squeeze in without lube – HA!

NARRATION

So first of all I’m seriously not going to add a lot here compared to what I said in my review of the first book. Joel Leslie still does a marvellous job and even felt that the voice characterisations have settled down a little compared to the first book. It’s good that the one narrator does the series as the voices have now grown on me. This is important, if the narrator changes in the middle of a series it usually has led me to dump the series too. However, after doing my research and looking ahead, I’m delighted to say the Joel Leslie stays with the series, so that makes me a happy boy – YEAH!

So, I finish this story and am jonesing badly for the third and final of the series. I'm just hoping it won't be another year before it's released.

Foxe Hunt takes up a week after where Foxe Tail left off. Skyler is getting more and more serious about Keith, and Keith about him. His coolness factor with his students rises even more and he gets caught up in another murder mystery. There are still some strange and mysterious things happening at the school, which he knows Keith is somehow involved. It leads to more than just an issue of not being able to commit, but a big issue of trust.

The focus mystery isn't so closely guarded a secret, much easier to solve than the first story, but as more is revealed on the main plot line, it definitely thickens.
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

This second book in the series is no less well written than the first, even if I have a niggling issue with what books an English Lit teacher is using in his class.

Another great read in this series - and another one with a cliffhanger! Hate that. At least this time I did something right: started reading after the release of several book of the series:) So, I just have to move on to reading the next installment.

This book, again, had the right amount of fun - the dialogues had me laughing out loud at times - and mystery. It even is believable that Skyler stumbles into his second sleuthing in as many books. Yes, I like him and his friends a lot. Now, if one book of this series ends without cliffhanger, I'll be a very happy reader.

I had tried the first episode in Haley Walsh's Skyler Foxe Mysteries and it didn't really grab me. Thankfully a GR friend suggested I continue, and I'm so glad I did! Thank you Janeylou.

I think Skyler's character is a bit dated, so that threw me a bit. I see now that Walsh has left room for this guy to grow, and over the arc of the series I can imagine there is quite a bit of space for him to evolve into a more mature man.

There's a fun little mystery as well, and a pretty brutal cliffhanger.

Belens Audio Book Review

Skyler Foxe, the bumbling high school teacher who thinks he's a great investigator, is back with another mystery to solve!

Skyler is such a piece of work. I mean, seriously...he succeeds in spite of himself. Even though Skyler is a hot mess served on a hot plate, this series is downright fun. There's something about Walsh's writing that makes this series more addicting with every page turn.

One thing that irks me is that Skyler is still so firmly in the closet. I understand it, but I prefer my heroes to be out and proud. That's just a personal preference though. At least we get some super sexy smexy times with Keith this go around. We finally find out what's going on with Keith, and it turns out I was right to be suspicious! Also, the whole dance thing? Pissed me off in the extreme.

One of the things I love in these stories are the supporting characters, particularly Skyler's students and best friend Sidney, but especially the S.F.C. (Skyler Fuck Club). They are hysterical!
"Want to do some investigating with me tonight?"
Jamie laughed. "Not another Nancy Boy Mystery!"

I will admit I am driven nuts by Skyler's TSTL moments. I mean, wow...B&E with no gloves or plan, tipping your hand and revealing all your information to the bad guys, I could go on...Jessica Fletcher Skyler is not.

What the hell is wrong with you

But...but it sucked me in and, even when I wanted to throttle him, I still couldn't stop listening. Joel Leslie is just as OTT and dramatic this time around and he invigorates the story until I was practically on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what happens next.

I would definitely recommend you read this series in order. Books one and two end in cliffhangers, and book three supposedly ties up all the loose ends. For some OTT mystery fun, look no further, Skyler, Sidney and the SFC are on the case!

Can't wait to see how this turns out

I would love to like this book better, since I love book #1 Foxe Tail, and I am quite taken with Skyler as a character. Then I see many good reviews on this. Alas, it doesn't do very well for me. I have several personal issues with it:

1) Keith Fletcher (who came as a "mysterious" teacher in book #1) comes here for me as an ass. His (too much of) jealousy over Skyler's friends is not pretty. Not to mention that he's "pushy", trying to make Skyler sees things his way. I know that he's 10 years older than Skyler (he's 35, Skyler is 25), and he probably has come to a different point in life, a.k.a monogamy, thinking of marriage and children, even coming out to the rest of the world. I think he's quickly judging Skyler's behavior ...

2) Too much sex for my liking. Well, not THAT much compared to other books I had read, HOWEVER, I feel like the sex scenes here are written only because readers ask for it, but they don't really MEAN something to the story, you know. It's like, Keith and Skyler dates, then they have sex. Keith gets jealous, he says sorry, then they have sex. Skyler accuses Keith of something, they argued, they make-up, then they have sex. HELLO!?!? Aren't there's murder of a friend that Skyler is supposed to try to solve?

3) Then I keep reading how Skyler thinks that Keith is a hunk, so he's worth it, and Skyler needs to deal with commitment issue. That makes Skyler comes as "on-the-surface" only, and sees Keith only because he's good looking. BLAH!

The thing that I like more, is the development of the two teenagers, Alex and Rick. Young love, being in hiding, definitely not easy. Especially since Alex is part of the football team while Rick is not. The whole Gay-Straight Alliance plot that the students try to form is interesting for me.

Regarding the cliffhanger (), I have my guess since book 1. I just hope that book #3 is better than this, and that Keith can redeem himself in my eyes. He needs to do a lot of groveling, that's for sure.

***Audiobook*** I enjoyed the first book, but now I have completely fallen in love with Skyler Foxe and the SFC! Sidney, Jamie, Philip (don't call him Phil!), and the hilarious Rodolfo. Yes, the stories are a bit over the top, but seriously how can you not be charmed by this guy and his group of friends? I don't know if I would be enjoying this as much if I were just reading the series. Joel Leslie does such a fantastic job narrating that I think this is a series that is better when listened to. Moving on to the next one...

Another highly enjoyable visit with my favorite TSTL character, Skyler Foxe! I loved this one more than book 1 because we finally get romance. The romance between Skyler and Keith was so sweet. Another cliffhanger, but that just means I get to listen to another awesome narration by Joel Leslie. Joel really does such a great job with all of the voices. I have absolutely no trouble distinguishing who is talking. This was a fun book and I'm looking forward to the conclusion of the mystery at James Polk High!

I continue to absolutely love this series. The plot and characters continue to keep me fully engaged. Alex and Rick truly shined in this book and I am so anxious to see how their relationship develops; as well as the trials and tribulations that go along with being a teen. This story also had an incredibly sugary sweet moment that put my heart in pitter patter mode. Another great read and I'm anxiously awaiting the next book.

This series gets more addicting with every word!!! Skyler is a wonderful if flawed main protagonist. I love the mysteries, the humor, the wonderfully developed supporting characters, the romance and sex, the danger and action.

The characters, humor and mysteries are what makes this book and this trilogy an amazing read. This is one of those rare books for me that I couldn't putout of my hand and read in one reading. I'm a slow reader.

READ BOOK ONE FIRST! Do it now )

Oh, man, I love this series. I'll try to write something more coherent later, but in a nutshell:

- I liked this book both more and less than the first one. More because the relationship between Skyler and Keith moved from the standstill and they are smokin' hot and very sweet together. Less because the book suffers from being the "middle child" and it raises more questions than gives answers, the biggest one being, of course, Which brings me to: I was right about Keith! Yes!

- The Skyler Fuck Club still rocks. They are as funny and endearing as ever. I'm curious if some of them will break the Club's "rules". ~_^

- The storyline about Evan and Jeff was really, really sad. Just thinking about their situation made me tear up.

- Keith's hot and cold behavior lasted a bit too long for my taste and I have ambiguous feelings about the entire dance scene. At one hand, the outing of another is a big no-no in my book. On the other, it was damn romantic. So, I don't know how I really felt about it: I alternately cringed and melted, lol.

- I still adore Skyler. Oh, he's such a klutz sometimes and never, ever thinks about consequences, so I wanted to smack him a few times. But, I love his passion for teaching and how much he cares for the kids and his friends. His insecurities are endearing, he is a genuinely nice person and just, just... I wanna hug him and squeeze him and call him George... well, no, but you get it. XD

- If this was any other book, I would be more critical about the mystery part, especially considering that mystery is sort of "my thing" and I've read tons of these books. BUT, I just can't do that. First, this is mystery-lite, even the author acknowledges this. But, more importantly, I read for pleasure and entertainment and this book gave me plenty of both.

- And, yes, this time I couldn't help it - I've read the excerpt from the next book. *sigh*

- Do I recommend it? HELL, YES!

This was another amazing book by the incredible Haley Walsh. I love what she does with these books and I am always looking forward to reading them. I have always been a huge fan of books like these but this has something most others don't. Its not just an mm romance its a mystery novel, a very good one at that. It keeps readers interested.

I will admit Skyler can frustrate me at times, but to me it is all apart of his charm. Keith is hot, he just seems so mysterious and secretive. I love that about him, and my suspicions about him were confirmed in this book. I always love when I am right.

In this book we got deeper into the mystery surrounding these characters. To me it feels like they attract trouble, Skyler especially. That is one of the funny things about this series. He always goes looking for trouble, even if sometimes he does not realize it but he does. His fried Sydney I do not know how she has not done him in before. To be honest I would have years ago.

I cannot wait until there are more and more of these books. I have read the first two about three times so far and I cannot get enough of them. I will always look out for Haley Walsh books when this series finishes. I hope that wont be for a while yet though. :)

The 2nd of Haley Walsh's "Skyler Foxe Mysteries", "Foxe Hunt", is essentially a continuation of the initial offering with an ending that has this reader glad I already own book #3. The book opens with a rare first date for Skyler with fellow teacher Keith Fletcher which has him spending the night. On an outing with his friends, Skyler meets up with 2 prior flames in Evan & Jeff who are trying to get their lives back together after returning home from multiple tours in Iraq. When Evan turns up dead of an apparent suicide due to PTSD a much bigger mystery ensues as to what or who caused his death. Walsh continues her mastery of these characters as the relationship between Skyler & Keith deepens & goes through its growing pains. There's also love for Sidney in this book as well & she's her usual irascible self when she learns that Skyler's trying to figure out on his own who is responsible for Evan's death. She also does a good job of exploring the issues faced by LGBT soldiers who were outed during the days of Don't Ask Don't Tell. The book itself is fast-paced w/ raw emotions which leads up to an ending that will leave everyone speechless. Another solid entry in this series which I look forward to reading more of in the future.

If you like your MC with a bit a snark and also a bit of TSTL, then you'll love Skyler Foxe. This was a fun story with some truly LOL moments. I don't do spoilers, so I won't get into the story, BUT is you haven't read book 1 - Foxe Tail - you really should read it first, if only so you get all the references and somewhat inside jokes.

Another fun one, although this one is more focused in the developing romance between Skyler and Keith.

The mystery this time was closer to Skyler, as the victim was an old college friend, and his partner is the main suspect. So, of course, he decides to investigate as Sydney, obviously, has it all wrong.

The mystery was less involving in this book, even when the case itself was more interesting. I think it was because a lot of the story was devoted to the romance.

And the romance... well, it has its up and downs, mainly because Skyler is commitment-phobe, but Keith is not helping his case a lot, TBH :P

But what I liked most? It wasn't neither the mystery or the romance. What I really adore here where the scenes in which Skyler was a teacher. Yes, he has some fantastic students, and that helps, but gosh! the man is an awesome teacher!

The murder is solved, but the mystery surrounding the school is still going strong, and it's probably more dark that we thought, as in this book we discover that the FBI is involved.

So, yes, of course I went immediately for the third one!

Not a big fan of the MCs (one has a dual personality - almost stereotypical flaming twink by night and a supposedly straight-passing high school teacher by day; the other is... tall?). But the overall mystery is kind of intriguing (enough to keep me reading anyway).

Probably the best example of a TSTL MC and yet these books are ridiculously addictive. I can't explain it...but I'm totally on board for the next one once I need it for a challenge.

Haley has created another page turner in her second volume of the Skyler Foxe Mystery Series. English teacher Skyler Foxe is at it again when a long lost friend’s apparent suicide looks more like a staged murder. Still not officially ‘out’ at work he struggles to deal with students looking to him for support in establishing a GSA in the school as well as his attraction to the new assistant football coach/biology teacher ‘Keith Fletcher”.

Skyler and Keith hit it off in an on and off and then have to deal with the issues that follow a new relationship, jealousy and commitment. Skyler’s never had a long term relationship and has trouble committing to only one man while also dealing with Keith's jealousy issues. Through all of this Skyler is trying to find a solution to the murder of an old friend and his surviving partner who have been dealing with issues created when they were discharged under DADT.

Skyler’s friend and detective Sidney Feldman has her doubts about Skyler’s new ‘boyfriend’. Is Keith who he says he is? Will she discover the truth about Evan’s murder before or with Skyler’s help and before Skyler finds himself in more trouble than he bargained for? Will Skyler and Keith’s relationship be a deal breaker at work?

This one was just as much fun as the first one, though perhaps not quite as funny. I'm loving Skyler and all his friends, and Keith is a surprise, for many reasons. I still find the narrator a little on the stilted side. It works for Skyler, since he's so awkward, but it could be tamed down for the others.

Anyway, Skyler finds himself involved in another mystery when an old college alum is found murdered. He of course investigates because he can't keep his nose out of other people's business, and of course figures out the whodunit (which Sydney had no hope of doing when Skyler doesn't tell her everything).

On the school front, some of the students start a GSA club and get harassed, and we find out what exactly Sherman Jr was doing for Evil Coach, but there's still the larger mystery left to solve. The author refers to this as the Veronica Mars effect, and that's spot on. Skyler is basically Veronica Mars if she decided to become a school teacher. :)

A good contemporary M/M romance with a twist of 'whodunnit' on the side. That said, I also found Skylar Foxe much more annoying in this novel, as at times he really was TSTL! It's such a pity really, as otherwise I liked and enjoyed the characters and the plot. Skylar certainly grew in some areas, which was nice to see, and I liked most of his interactions with Keith and his students. It's just that the TSTL aspect almost overwhelmed the whole storyline at times, ripping me out of the story in disbelief. Oh well, here's hoping the next and concluding novel will have this aspect much more under control. (PS. Not a fan of the cover either as the photo-shopping is very obvious!)

Good m/m romantic suspense about high school English teacher Skyler who gets involved in another murder investigation while trying to decide if he actually has a boyfriend or not. It wasn't until I hit the cliffhanger ending that I remembered I wasn't going to read this one until the next book came out. D'oh! Also, Skyler is starting to reach new levels of TSTL and I spent a fair amount of time wanting to shake him.

I like thiis one much better than the first book. I especially liked the romance between Skyler and Keith and the dance scene was terrific. Of course, Skyler was a total nut-job much of the time but that is part of his charm. The whole story flowed very nicely. Can't wait for the next in the series.

Seriously, that guy on the cover is nothing like Keith. Does the fact that he is holding a football mean we are supposed to ignore the lack of inches, square jaw and constant stubble!

TBC... the series, not this review.

I enjoyed this second in the series.
Skylar meets up again with some old lovers and one of them is murdered and of course in perfect Skylar fashion he gets involved in solving the mystery of his friends murder.
Loved his friends and also his new love interest. Cant wait to see how everything develops in the next book

First of all: I freaking KNEW IT!!! From book 1 I had my suspicions, but it was a very cruel way to leave us hanging. *sobs* I really, really, REALLY liked this book. The sex scenes were absolutely hot! And I love the development in all the relationships *winks* Looking forward to the next book.
