Fidelity isn’t black and white. When you marry young and for the wrong reasons, you can easily choose the wrong partner, costing you something you cannot time.
Lennox Curry, at twenty-eight-years-old, has made the difficult, long-awaited decision to leave her marriage of eight years. It’s taken just about the length of the union for her to come to terms with it not being healthy for her. Lennox tried to create a life with her husband for years. But now, she’s just about emotionally bankrupt. It’s been so severe, Lennox is finally ready to make a major shift in her world.
Tobias Elliott has known Lennox since he was nineteen. His affection for her was unusual and prevailing. He may have lost her due to a youthful mishap, but he’s never forgotten her. He’ll also never forget how her family influenced Lennox to marry another man, believing he was better suited because of his impending professional basketball career.
In Low Love, Low Fidelity, we walk through Lennox’s heroical journey of choosing love the second go-round. She’s the only one advising her heart nowadays, and it’s beating for one person. Tobias is ready to love and honor Lennox in a way she’s never had the benefit of experiencing. While they get their second chance at love, we’ll see them sort out the details of the baggage made from not giving their love a chance when it was first presented. We will experience their happily ever after.
New readers will experience a woman’s journey to choose herself, and to correct an adolescent mistake made by ill-advisement. Readers, already belonging to the Love Belvin Universe, will do the same while enjoying cameos from previous clients.
Publisher’s Low Love, Low Fidelity is a standalone. This book contains angst, violence, profanity, and sexually explicit content. If any of these elements is not what you prefer between the pages of a novel, this is not the venture for you.

“You’re my love song on repeat.” 🥰🥰 When I tell you this book gave me ALL THE FEELS!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 This book was sooooooo good!! My GOODNESS!! My heart is FULL ❤️❤️❤️! Tobias and Lennox were everything and if there was ever a doubt in Love’s ability to create pure magic, this book was evidence of that and so much more!
I guess I would classify Lennox and Tobias’ journey as a second chance romance but it can also be a friends to lovers. These two met at age 19 and the chemistry was undeniable. Unfortunately they ended before they could begin due to Tobias being the reckless young adult that most are/have been at that age. Instead of fighting for each other, these two allowed the influences of others, namely Lennox’ grandmother to come between them and their lives were forced into separate directions. Years later they reunited at a Connecticut Kings game 🥰 and decided that at the very least a friendship was worth rekindling. Let me just say this…. If a nîgga don’t come with the same 🗣️ENERGY as Tobias 🗣️HE AINT THE ONE!!!! I can’t even find the words to describe all that Tobias was as a man, as a lover, and as a provider. He has undoubtedly set the bar so high that a ninja would need to be crafted by The Creator himself to measure up!
Lennox has A LOT going on in her world. She’s a successful medical professional and is truly a BOSS in ever since of the word but her personal life is in shambles. Everyone in her world is solely dependent on her and she’s drowning. Tobias is a musician and works with some of our favs (Ragee and Dale). He has his life together and now that the final piece to his puzzle has been brought back into his life, he is willing to do whatever is necessary to make her his! The journey these two embarked upon was nothing short of amazing! I felt it all! The lows of love as well as the highs.
If you’ve never experienced the LB effect you’re missing out! Many of her previous characters were so expertly woven into this story and I enjoyed reading about them all so much. While it’s not totally necessary I do suggest reading her books in order. It makes this book that much more enjoyable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book. You will not be disappointed!
2nd Read was the newly released audiobook with Alyx Monroe and Midnite Michael’s narrating.
This is a second chance romance at its best….second chance/friends to lovers…whatever way you want to look at it…Tobias, knew what he wanted and it was to get his girl back at her pace….I Love This story.
“I’m yours, and you’re mine. I’m about to prove it.”
I loved Tobias & Lennox so much. Tobias made sure when Lennox came back into his life he didn’t let her go. Lennox was dealing with a lot while trying to keep her head above water. I’m glad Lennox found that snake & cut off the leeches in her life. It was a journey but the happily ever after finally came. It was nice catching up gang too.
I really loved this book and as others have mentioned it gave me all of the “feel goods”. It doesn’t help that if Love writes it, I’m buying it anyway. She can do no wrong in my book. Love has mastered her craft, starting with Azmir and Rayna, growing and evolving, now giving us perfection with Tobias and Lennox.
I was gone off of the mere description of Tobias alone. It had me melting like the butters on his feet.
“He was comfortably shirtless, with a kitchen towel tucked inside the waist of his low-hanging army fatigue, cargo pants. The man wore fresh Timberland boots at the stove. The butters! Parts of his back flexed infinitesimally with each subtle move he made. The intricate grooves in his broad back resembled an African warrior. His dark, low-cut hair formed miniature waves, fading toward the nape of his neck. The tattoos etched on his back and arms were artful.” And…. That piano scene was one for the books. 🥵🥵🥵
I loved the way that Tobias loved on Lennox. His love and support of her was unwavering and unconditional. This man could write a master’s class on how to love a woman. It was said that Tobias was love, a cheerleader of love, and the love doctor, musically. However, I think that the same could be said about Lennox. She loved a man that never intended to love her. She loved and cared for Kelvin’s family before she even learned to love herself, spent years miserable dealing with his abuse, drug addiction and what was clearly ungrateful and unappreciative family, Scott and Rachel not included. Despite the misguidance from her grandmother and the absence of her father, she still had the capacity to show them love and respect. Lennox eventually decided that enough was enough. Tobias helped her realize that she deserved to be loved and once she received his message, she was able to put in the work to fix herself and her situation. After receiving and learning true love, Lennox was able to open up and give more in return. She literally blossomed like a flower 🌺 with Tobias.
This story and the characters were realistic and relatable. Love continuously dropped breadcrumbs of life throughout, “Love is fun, marriage is work,” and is masterful with the pen, building my vocabulary while simultaneously exposing me to other customs. I don’t think that I’ve ever used the dictionary feature as much. That conversation around the Thanksgiving dinner table was hilarious and enlightening.
Lastly, some of the best parts of the book were all of the links, cameos, and references to previous characters, experiences, and places from her previous works, also including references from the Book of Nyles by Alexandria House. Love’s “Encyclopedia of the LBU” really came in handy as a reference for characters or events that were a little hazy in my memory bank. Love put her foot in this one, it definitely deserves more than 5 stars.
“I’m not going no fu#$in’ where. I’m here…in this. I ain’t leaving $hit until I leave with what’s mine...and Tobias shows and proved this throughout the story.
This is a second chance love story....so if that's not your thing move along. Tobias and Lennox met when they were young adults. Neither of them had quite established who they were, but they had an undeniable chemistry. Mistakes and bad guidance and choices separate them for years.
Lennox was raised by her Pastor Grandmother, having lost her mother at a young age and her father to the prison system. She never really had a sense of family, of belonging, of real love. When the opportunity to be loved came, she took it even though the math wasn't quite mathing. She didn't really have chemistry or connection with Kelvin, but she thought she could learn to love her husband. Not realizing that was never his plan. I felt sorry for her, she was mentally trapped in a loveless marriage because she didn't think she had anything else and the truth is she didn't. Aside from her loyalty to Scott, she should have been enough though.
Tobias made a mistake young and it shifted his chance with Lennox. He went on to be a very successful man, and although he experienced some love, he knew Lennox was always his one. When he sees her almost 5 years later he eases himself back into her life. They become each other's refuge. Tobias's heart is slowly breaking after each interaction. I mean this man LOVED this girl, she had him raw. So raw that he accepts her situation for another three years, never really demanding anything from her and pledging his fidelity to her the last year when clearly that was flawed. Once they become intimate though, his feelings and willpower are out of wack. He wants his woman, he wants to be chosen by her.
Lennox finally starts making steps to be free from her sham of a marriage. His family, the leeches 😒, showed their true colors and she was finally able to start moving on. I appreciated that she wanted her independence and time to just learn herself. Also that she sought therapy to be her best self and that Tobias willingly went as well. Listen I'm giving y'all the mild version but the heat 🔥🥵🔥🥵and BDE commanded from Tobias good lawd. I'm telling you I feel like I will marry him atp.
I lovvvved all the cameos from past characters and cross overs from other books. Love DID that! The way they were interwoven throughout this book, was the chef's kiss😘 This was actually a mild read for Love and I enjoyed it. I wanted a little more out of the ending, but my fave don't miss🙌🏾
SN: Mya needs to get dragged BADLY🥊 I'm still side eyeing Krista as well😒
I am a major Love Belvin fan. I own all of her books and I have read some of them more than once. I was excited when this book released mainly because it was not a series. But, maybe that is the problem with this book. For me, it lacked true character development. Everything seemed rushed. One thing that has always set Love apart is her ability to make her clients come to life through her words and I did not feel that this time. The potential of a great story was there but with this one book, I did not feel that proper attention was given to the characters. We deserved to know more of Tobias and Lennox’s love story. And I am probably in the minority on this, but having past clients appear several times in this book further took away from the opportunity to truly get a better story about our main couple. Still a fan; just not of this book.
Perfection. That is Love’s pen game. I’m so used of series from her, I wondered how I’d feel about at standalone. She did it to perfection!! I absolutely loved Tobias and Lennox’s story!!! As usual, bravo!!!!
I think this story was different for me. I thought Lennox was strong and weak at the same time. She wanted the best for her husband even when he acted like a real jerk wad. Calvin and his Momma needed to visit Jade for a few visits to her-I'm not taking your stuff lair. I didn't understand why Lennox felt it was okay to enable her POS so-called husband. He was a weak grown man mooching. And Tobias waiting in line for Lennox to have enough was the tight part in this storyline. That man loved this woman with everything imaginable. And.... I enjoyed the drop in visits from previous book characters, as this added to what Lennox needed to see healthy love between couples. Overall, this was another enjoyable experience by this author. High on Love....
Wow and Oh ! I was back and forth with how I felt about Tobias and Lennox. LB had me in a spin. Lol. I wanted to shake Lennox for most of this book! But I also wanted to scream at Tobias to GO GET HER NOW!! Dont wait for anything. Just take the lead. Well written. And definitely gives you so many talking points. Book club discussions has already been on fire. Lol Enjoy
This was a difficult read for me. I couldn’t get into Lennox. I wanted to like her but her character lacked depth and came across as narcissistic or maybe self-absorbed. Something about her didn’t engender the attachment I usually have for Love’s female leads.
One thing I love about Love’s male characters is that they forgive anything when they are in love. The scene with Elia…I didn’t feel Lennox’s remorse afterwards, but Tobias was willing to suck it up for love. Tobias gave what I needed in a male lead. I was rooting for his happiness even if it was with her.
This one is hard for me! This is the first of LB's newer projects that I didn't really connect to, and I can't put a finger in exactly why that is.
Tobias and Lennox were both interesting characters with endearing qualities and palpable chemistry. But it took a long time — about 65% of the book — for that to actually shine through and grasp my interest in a way that kept me turning the pages.
One thing I will say is that one of the things I love about Love Belvins style of writing and a technique she uses frequently — dropping you as the reader, in the middle of an event or choas already taking place — seemed to work against Low Love, Low Fidelity. Being dropped into the chaos of Lennox's life coupled with not having any context or answers to the slew of questions that came from the chaos, made it hard for me to connect both with Lennox and Tobias. And being in the dark, having so many questions and no answers resulted in my frustration, which oftentimes ended up in me simply deciding to do something else and come back to the book later. I legit didn't feel fully invested and ALL IN on the book until the encounter Lennox had with Kelvins family at Thanksgiving, which was at 68% of the book.
Don't get me wrong, once Tobe told Lennox to bring her ass on and really started applying PRESSURE, I was all in. But at 70% of the book, it just wasn't hitting the way I've come to expect an LB book to hit.
I did enjoy getting to see some old faces and witnessing some of my favorite characters all in the same place, intermingling and exhibiting Black Excellence to the highest degree. I can also 100% see why Raj and Tobias are such good friends and connect in a deeper level. Contrary to his external persona and how he moves with most people, Raj has a big heart and is super sensitive, caring, and vulnerable in a lot of ways. Tobias is the kind of person who nourishes, loves, and protects those kinds of people. In the same way, he loved, supported, and poured into Lennox when she needed it most.
I'm not going to lie though. I don't know that I'll remember Lennox and Tobias, going back to my delayed investment in their story...but I'm glad to have experienced their story.
I’m not quite sure how I feel. It was a great story. I felt connected to Tobe and Lennox. The development of their relationship felt authentic. Biggest drawback for me (and probably why everyone else loves it) is the forced reunion for every character in the LB universe. As a stand-alone, I just wish it wasn’t so heavily focused on everyone else. I could’ve went without the backstories of how they’re all connected as well. Any time the crew got together I started to lose interest. Aside from that, the vibes were good and Tobe was better.
Love never fails with her pen game!! Beautifully written! Always a great development of characters. They both had to grow up but always knew the love they had for each other.
I am a fan of Love Belvin’s books, but not all of her books are my favorite and that’s okay. Sometimes I feel she name drops too much. This book was a great example of that. It becomes redundant when I continue to read the same characters or companies mentioned in every series. I wish Love Belvin would create a fresh new series with new characters and not previous names mentioned. That would be an awesome read because it would feel new and entertaining. Maybe I’ll read this book again, but right now, I wasn’t interested in continuing it. I didn’t feel excited and I think it’s partly due to so many name drops.
Tobias and Lennox, loved their journey. This book was a little different from Love’s books but a very good read. Kelvin and his mama were a real piece of work. Lennox was a real one to put up with them as long as she did. As always, love prevails.
In full transparency, this is a Love Belvin book. I was going to love it. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did though. This gave second chance/friends-to -lovers but only as LB can do it. Lennox Curry is unhappy. she's stuck in a marriage, taking care of folks who don't appreciate her, and questioning her friendships. My girl had A LOT going on. Then you have Tobias, a music producer leveling up in his career, a dad, and the man deeply in love with Lennox. Love really gave us a woman who was extremely unhappy FINALLY choosing herself. She's doing this and Tobias, who is MADLY in love with her, is supporting her all the way. HE LOVES LENNOX, even at the detriment of himself, which is something he had to deal with. Love Belvin is always going to take her characters through it, she is exceptional at SHOWING the emotional growth and that's exactly what we witnessed with Lennox and Tobias. The Thanksgiving scene has got to be my favorite part of this book, definitely top 5 scenes ever from LB. We got a chance to catch up with some LBU faves. We also got to see the emotional connection, transparency and vulnerability between the male characters. That is something I'd like to see more of in all books. Overall, this was a great read for me and I've never been so happy that an LB book was a standalone before.
Tobias is at the top of my Book Bae list! He did not let up off Lennox and that tugged at all my heart strings. A love like his love for Lennox, their love for each other was so powerful, moving, touching, strong… I just can’t get over it. Plus, he was nasty and Lennox liked every bit of it.
Lennox literally had so much toxicity in her life. Jealous friends, crackhead abusive husband, manipulative family – her own & in-laws, physically and mentally abusive family. I want to know what Mia’s problem with her was because that went beyond jealousy.
Anyway, this story of 2nd chances, friendship, soul ties, true love, real love, 90s r&b kinda love and happily ever after was beyond beautiful. I wanted to sit with this book. My soul and heart needed this.
Tobeeeeeee…. Ion care ion care ion care, he was truly one that proved his place as an Alpha LBU man! His acts of selfless love to family, friends, & a woman that was but a mere dream for a while. Another man’s mishandled precious gem, became his answered prayer. Along the way he showed a real vulnerability most men in the LBU wouldn’t dare share outside their intimate spaces. He’s a qualified Book Bae for someone out there, 😝 Ima remain loyal to Bae! 😻 Lennox faced responsibilities of a grown woman when she was just a child. It was so unfair & unfortunately produced a hard knock life for her. She too earn her spot with the women of the LBU that were lost but found their way, eventually. I truly appreciated her willingness to love herself first, while learning to forgive and love those that loves her! As always, Love Belvin did not disappoint! From the promos to the words “The End”, she delivered Black Excellence in love, life, & lessons. 💯
Such a great story. I know when I pick up a LB book it’ll be just what I need and so timely. And this book didn’t disappoint. I loved meeting Tobias and Lennox, watching love bloom amongst them once again, and catching up with the whole gang from the LB universe. Tobias was patient and Lennox was precious to him. Lennox needed that after experiencing so much at a young age. This book touches on young love, decisions made in youth, second chances, and so much more.
Love Belvin is not only a writer, but she's also a natural storyteller. They say that infidelity has no place in romance novels, but Love took that taboo topic and spun it in a way that only she could.
From beginning to end, I loved Lennox and Tobias. I love that they chose each other and that their determination to be together was always at the forefront. Their emotions were felt from page one, and their journey toward each other was simply beautiful!!! Great job, Love!!
This is a page turner from beginning to end. I felt like I was on this emotional rollercoaster with Lennox and Tobias. Loved the cameos as well. Definitely a must read.
Tobias, Tobias, Tobias!!! This man is all green flags! It wouldn’t be a Love Belvin book without a strong, capable FMC that makes ridiculous decisions. But I’m all for this second chance romance. I do need Love to expand on that supper club though.
I was admittedly nervous about reading this book. I'm a huge fan of Love and black love romance, however, the last 2 serials by Love left me disappointed. That being said this standalone was just what I needed to renew my faith in her to represent black love.
*THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT ON. PLEASE STOP NOW IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS*
*SPOILERS STARTING*
Ok I knew from reading the description that Lennox was married but she ended up with Tobias. I'm married and fidelity is something important to me so I didn't want to read about a disgruntled wife that leaves her husband for some childhood crush or there second chance at forever. I should have had more faith in LB to know she wouldn't get down like that. Even the Bible gives allowances for divorce. I was happy LB went that route opposed to the cheap "I'm not happy at home with my spouse so I'm going to screw up a good thing for a fling" route. Tobe and Lenny had a real solid friend and yes, the lines got blurred before they should have but it wasn't done selfishly. This story not only addresses infidelity but also the major undertone of what can happen to a child's future when parents don't raise their own children. How different would your life be if your primary influence was a grandparent, aunt, or anyone else besides your actual parent? It's a subject that LB weaved into this story and makes you really think. So many of the decisions made in our adolescent and young adult years are based mainly on the influences of those who raised us. In those years we don't have enough of our own life experience to make proper decisions that can affect our lives so significantly. Yes, this every bit the love story we've grown accustomed to from LB, but it is also a life story. She blends to two so seamlessly that the life story might get overshadowed by the love story. You will also run into some your favs from the LBU which is always a treat. Black boy(man) joys drips from every page and for that I am grateful. Brotherhood is also a recurring theme; I wish sisterhood was as prevalent. Lennox didn't have very much support during her shotty marriage, trying relationship, separation, or divorce. That was hard to read through. She carried so much and even though Tobias was ready and willing to support her it would have been nice to know she had one truly solid girlfriend that she didn't have to question. Though LB does write the characters together and happily ever after she doesn't do it in a way that excuses infidelity. Honoring your marriage is still cherished and expected. It truly brings to light that life isn't always black and white.
I’m genuinely torn about what to rate this once. It’s standing at a 3.5 for me right now.
Tobias was a saint. Everything he did, the planning the time invested, the YEARS just to rebuild a friendship with Lennox felt pure. He knew she was the one and was not letting up no matter what. It’s their own version of a second chance. I did feel for Lennox. It seemed like she just craved love and security. I could see why it seemed like Kelvin was her savior or the right choice even if she didn’t love him.
I didn’t dislike or hate this book at all. The cheating trope doesn't bother me but if that's not your thing - read with caution. This wasn't a bad read but I feel like the situation with Kelvin could've been resolved a bit better and I still have some lingering questions - especially about Mya and Kelvin. That felt like a plot twist dropped on us that wasn’t explained. It’s definitely a wild ride of emotions. The tone of the writing was super emotional too so I’d definitely say go into reading it in a good mood. Overall not bad but also not for everybody.
I could not connect to Lennox and Tobias. Their chemistry wasn't quite it for me. It was there but it wasn't there. I feel like it was one of those scenarios where it's the inevitable. But even with that fact in place, I didn't quite feel the emotional depth I'd have liked to see these two share. In all honesty. The first 250 pages to me were filled with them scratching the whole physical attraction itch.
I'm not a fan of kinky concepts in books. So that could explain why this book didn't speak to me. The premise of the story was good, but I don't understand how people can't make some good loving without spanking cominv into the picture?
My view could also be because this is a new to me author, and the 'Muted Hopelessness' trilogy left such a strong impression that I came in with a lot of expectations, which have unfortunately been crashed
I hope something else from this author that I'll love as much as I loved the 'Muted Hopelesness' trilogy.
Tobias and Lennox ... their story was complicated and jacked up. I did not see how they were going to rise to the top. Following their journey, I saw how they preferred each other above themselves. The follies of youth can be some of the most painful and far reaching decisions made. If we can learn the lessons and adjust, it could save us some trauma. It was good to reconnect with old friends if you will. I was happy about Scott. Kelvin could burn in Sheol, I don't care, lol.
“Who are you waiting on?” “You,” he answered with his back to me. Tobias, Tobias!!! What must I do to get me a Tobias? He was a mature patient man. “I’m not going no fuckin’ where. I’m here…in this. I ain’t leaving shit until I leave with what’s mine. That’s where I fucked up as a boy. I’m a man now, Lennox. And I want you to finally choose me. The question is do you want to?”What he said he could back it up, “On paper, but your soul is tied to me.” His chest flexed as he approached the bed. “I’m yours, and you’re mine. I’m about to prove it.” My God showing up in North Carolina dropping his location, being her sounding board never judging and listening and providing advice as well as help when needed. God and please don’t forget making love to her body soul and mind. And as he stated, Fatherhood taught me so much about sacrifice. This woman represented more than ass to me. I couldn’t explain my draw to her. It was something I couldn’t control. “I ain’t tripping. Celibacy led me to the act of manifestation. Manifestation’s got you here in my bed right now, mad as hell that I don’t have a condom to make love to you properly.” God and please don’t forget he loved Lennox with his all. “To love as hard as you possibly can. If love makes you happy, then love, my nigga. And God his friends even saw it from him as Rajee told him, “Word. Remember what I said to you Thanksgiving morning about Lennox?” I nodded, running my palm down the top of my head, not wanting to go there. “Although, it was out of love, I’m thinking this Sara shit just broadened my view of you. You’re love, too. You speak it, you teach it, you give it. Shit, man, you probably ‘fuck it,’ too!” “If taking care of people is how God created you, as your brother, I can’t criticize you for that,” he continued. “After seeing you two together that night, I realized I didn’t trust you to be you. You’re fuckin’ Tobias Elliott, the love doctor, musically. Of course, you live that shit. So, I guess what I’m saying, my guy, is continue to be love. Love your fuckin’ heart out. I need it. The world needs it.” And when Tobias couldn’t be there for Lennox he made sure he had others in place for her like at her divorce proceedings having her father with her for three days. But oh on the last day he surprisingly showed up because he knew she needed it. “And now, I’m here.” I tried reigning my temper. He was annoying the fuck out of me now. “Her man is here. I’ll take over. You filled in when I couldn’t. She’s my responsibility.”
