Gantalla’s world has been turned upside down. Drought, famine and unending heat waves are destroying her homeland of Chalandros, and her only hope for survival is to cross the dreaded Gate into the human world. But the journey is perilous, with an army of warriors poised to kill anyone who dares to set foot on human territory.
Against all odds, Gantalla survives the crossing, only to discover that life disguised as a human, in the bustling city of Minia, is far more confusing than she could have imagined. After a series of missteps, she inadvertently finds herself nursing a warrior who was badly injured in the latest battle. Nalyx presents a confounding mix of charm and vulnerability, but Gantalla can’t let herself get too comfortable with him. After all, if he ever found out what she really was, he wouldn’t hesitate to kill her…
This book can be read as a standalone, though many of these characters will show up in minor roles later in the series as well.

Amazing Fantasy
This story was wonderfully different from others stories I've read recently. This story deals with hatred and the fear of misunderstanding those who are different. It takes place in a dystopian world where a gate from another dimension leads into the human world. Every few weeks the gate opens and demons rush in. Human warriors kill them as they come through. A "demon" woman makes it through and disguises herself to pass as human. She gets to know the humans and soon learns that most of them are actually nice. As she cares for an injured warrior, emotions come into play. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romantasy.
