Cold: A Fright Read Short Story

Rate this book
You have to know when to stop. But for Jamie, the joy of snowboarding down the mountain one more time was too fun to miss. So much, that he snuck his way onto a chairlift to do it. Then the lift froze. Now, as night falls and the temperature drops, he dangles high above the unforgiving peak alone in the darkness.

Short, thrilling, intense

4.5 stars (a few typos throughout)

It’s the end of the day, the sun is going down, colder weather is about to set in… but this snowboarder wants one more run down the slopes. He doesn’t like being told no and decides to secretly hitch a ride onto the lift chair… it’s dark, it’s cold… and 2/3 of the way along, the lift stops running. He’s alone, about 40 feet up, freezing and unsure what to do as the temps drop and the wind bites into him. Will he make it out alive?

I really enjoyed this! I was hooked, wondering what was going to happen to the snowboarder, although I didn’t feel too bad for him, because the situation was of his own making. He was an entitled idiot who felt the rules needn’t apply to him.

This was a really good short story. I could feel all the emotions that Jamie was feeling. Sometimes decisions we think are ok, turn out to be life threatening. I think Jamie learned a valuable lesson.
