This book was a burst of imaginative genius. I have never encountered the topic of technological progress portrayed in such a unique way. It completely caught me off guard, in the best possible way.

The author commenced by delineating the book's structure, clarifying its division into two primary sections: chapter two and the remainder. The unique tale of chapter two transports us far into the future, exploring technology in ways not yet fully realized or even conceived.

The remaining segments clarify and establish the plausibility of the elements woven into this imaginative tale, the reasons behind it, and how one can be ready for them.

There are so many salient points, and the read is truly eye-opening. It's both thrilling and alarming to contemplate the progress we've made as humans and the possibilities that lie ahead. The fact is, adaptation is crucial for survival, and change is a natural part of life. We must be willing to accept it. I highly recommend this book to anyone who struggles to envision the potential advancements of the future, and why it's essential to start learning and adapting now. I will keep this in my library for future reading.

It's difficult to cover everything this book is about in one review, because it's about a bit of everything. From AI to space travel, immortality, the viability of flying vehicles, and the future of even something like shopping and clothing are just me naming a few. There are predictions and thoughts offered on just about anything one might be interested in when it comes not only to tech, but how our society might evolve around these new developments.
I especially enjoyed the sections discussing these concepts on an individual level, how we can and might one day interact with these new forms of tech in our day-to-day lives.
It's fairly packed with info and will throw a lot of concepts both new and old at you with every page. Plan to take your time reading through this one, it's well worth the time.

Conflicted feelings from an anthropologist

So I studied anthropology, and the beginning of this book irked me a little with how simplified it made human evolution. I kept reading anyway, because I understand not everyone is interested in the caveats of the human species story. This book is well written, and a great read for those interested in a hopeful future filled with science. However, this book has little discussion of the ramifications of these developments, especially in the capitalist society we live in. I would have loved to see a bigger discussion of the environment, eugenics, classism, and more that permeate any discussion of the technological future. Overall, this book isn’t bad, in fact it would be great for a casual read! But be aware that this is not a critical academic perspective, but an entertaining informative one.

This book will blow your mind.

Technology has become somewhat of a scary concept to a lot of people. It has taken on a meaning that few people understand. This book breaks things down , so that technology and its role in the near future is not so obstinent. This book explains it as taking what we know today and bui.ding on it for the future, that basically sums up technology. The author does a great job of explaining the role of AI in our everyday life. If you are interested in knowing more about technology but apprehensive that you wont be able to comprehend, I'd recommend this book to you.

Understanding technology

It’s amazing how technology is transforming everything as we know it. This book dives into an easy way to understand technology and where it is leading us. One of the biggest ideas in the book is the theory of work reduction in the future. Even though automation will increase and some jobs will disappear, the other side of the technology coin is that automation is there to help us and improve our efficiency. Basically, we are going to be needing less in order to produce more. What an interesting concept. I don’t think we need to fear technology, just continue to work with it, as this book shows us.

Life Transforming

I didn’t grow up with computers or any technology. I learned on the job how to work on a computer and that is how I kept my job. Things are not the same as they were 40 years ago, and technology has not stood still. I think this book spells it out for us in that there is so much to learn about technology, and we need to keep up. I’m helping younger family members choose colleges and tech classes are definitely on our minds.

Very Complex Analysis

This book took me on a profound journey, reflecting on the past and acknowledging our progress. However, it also painted a rather bleak picture of where we are headed. Overall, this mind-bending book is highly recommended for AI enthusiasts who enjoy contemplating the future. For those who may find its portrayal of our potential future unsettling, be prepared to expand your thinking if you decide to delve into this thought-provoking read.

The book needs an editor; there were misspelled and incorrect words and confusing sentences throughout. The sci-fi story at the beginning was stilted. The author was wrong about Amazon Go stores and the timeline of space events. That said, the book provides plenty of technology trends that will likely occur.
