Why is it that one of the most wholesome consensual romances I've read in manga is between a woman and a SNAKE?!!?

This is a great series. I'll definitely continue.

But lets be real most romance manga tends to have a lot of dub con/non con elements and it's genuinely refreshing to see a manga where that isn't taking place.

Honestly 3 best romances I've read in manga are
1. Savior's Book Cafe in another world
2. The Invisible Man and his soon to be wife
3. The Great Snake's Bride

I really like that this volume gave more insight into Miyo’s background and in great detail. We learned about her grandfather some more, along with both of her parents, her younger brother and how she got the scars on her head. I also really liked properly meeting this new monk character and I’m curious to learn more about him, and specifically how his mentor has some connection to Daija.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised this second volume and I’m curious going into the next one.

I was really curious about how the pregnancy subplot would be resolved -- it went about how I expected it to, but somehow still surprised me and made me laugh, so props for good writing! XD
I really liked this volume. The developments were really nice and interesting. I'm both excited and nervous to see where things go from here, as I can see this taking several routes...!
Total guilty pleasure, but I really enjoy this series' writing and art! It feels like a real folktale.

The parts where the giant snake kissed his waifu on the lips made me lol.

And yes, I read this purely to see how they would have the sex. Leave me alone. It was morbid curiosity.

I also feel like this kind of manga was inevitable since those spicy woodblock paintings were created. You know, the one with the octopus.

Anyway. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Giant snake sex, tragic backstory, and a mysterious handsome intruder. Really enjoying this, curious how it'll turn out - hoping for well, but there's lots of hints towards tragedy, so I'll be anxious to see.

"Oops . . . I accidentally let them both out. . ."

Alas, great pastoral romances in which two entangled lovers must joust for emotional validation amid myriad and incongruous social charismata are oft the stuff of self-made tragedies made real.

And to that point, THE GREAT SNAKE'S BRIDE v2 retains all of the awkwardness, humor, and charm of a comedy manga with mature themes that is definitely going in the direction readers think it's going. Daija-sama and Miss Miyo have settled in for another spring season as relative newlyweds. And with springtime come the motions of romance (or the vague presumptions thereof). Daija-sama is still a bit of a dork, and Miyo is most certainly an ingenue, but together, somehow, this duo on the mountainside makes the best of what they've got.

But there's a darkness to this book. The sparring beauty and tragedy of a woman cursed by her kin to live with, and love, a giant snake creature pulls into form dark suspicions of depression, of mental illness, of family abuse, and of anger inherited from generations of trauma. Readers learn of the origin of Miyo's scars. Readers learn of the vengeance sought by a young monk. Readers learn of family members left behind.

THE GREAT SNAKE'S BRIDE v2 queries what happens when the rogue emotions and unresolved sentiments lingering in the blackness of one's heart are given the opportunity to scurry for the light. Miyo's affection for Daija-sama is increasingly genuine; she loves him. But will she bear his children? Back in the mountain village, a little boy named Wataru ponders if his big sister is still alive. To what lengths will he go to justify his curiosity? And a monk with a poisonous gaze stumbles into view; he yearns to avenge his fallen predecessor. But all Daija-sama says in bitter response is, "What of it?"
