Tarris Marie is proudly a Midwestern girl of the '90s, born and raised in Gary, IN. After 15 years in corporate America, Tarris lost her central vision and eventually her six-figure career in a battle with Stargardt's--a genetic eye disease that caused her legal blindness. In addition to being a novelist, Tarris is a screenwriter and actress who uses slivers of her life experienced pie to create vivid characters and roller coaster journeys to inspire and entertain others. Tarris received a scholarship and studied Journalism at Florida A&M University before she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and business administration from Indiana University, where she also became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I did like and enjoy this book, however, the story did feel rushed and i kinda made me feel disconnected to the characters. I also felt what we were told about the characters and their actions really didn't match.

My favourite thing about this story was the FMC. I do love a kickass heroine.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and I was so pleasantly surprised! I love the flow of the writing style! This author has an authentic way with words describing and painting a picture of each character. Her way of explaining how the kings of the drug world, and women’s hair salons dated back in histories and can relate to business is genius. Each character was so well spoken and definitive with their own set personality’s that I couldn’t put it down. I love that the intimate scenes were described with vivid words rather than raunch, and it made me eager to keep reading the rest. I also loved that while she included scenes of sex and foreplay throughout the book, she didn’t make it a focal point for filler and it was done super well! This author has a talent for drawing you into a story you didn’t even know you needed to read! So well done! I think the expression of love after 2 or 3 encounters was a bit too forward for me in “real life” but it worked with the story and reminds us that a little bit of fiction and fantasy is still cool.
The way the author writes the conversations between blaque and his family in Jamaica made me smile a lot.
If I could add any corrections, it would be that the Spanish spoken parts would be translated in italics or something nonchalantly for non Spanish speaking readers so that we can grasp the full story. The timelines could be more realistic as well. They fall in love in 2 days, have only 2 weeks to do major things and bury a man in less than 4 hours with a service. None are realistic, but other than that I loved it!

This was an ARC book sent to me by Black Odyssey Media. I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it had a great writing style. Pearle and her brother Goldie have been pulling off thefts from rich people that Pearle pretends to get close to and then steals his money. They both agree they are done after this last job. But when Goldie agrees to help out the Cartel, Pearle has no choice to get together with Blaque- a cartel enemy and steal a piece of art. I thought that this book was amazing and absolutely rate it 5 stars!

I really liked the plot . I wish they didn’t fall in love that quickly but I liked this . I liked that the action was set in the late 90s and early 2000s , and the whole vibe that came with it .
Pearle is such a strong characters . It takes lots of courage to do what she did for a leaving and liked that about her .
Blaque was a smooth one . Very nice with words and straight forward. He knew he wanted her and he did everything he could to have her , including going back on his deal with the DEA .
Goldie has a good heart but he needs to grow up .
I have to say I didn’t expect Walker to be such a a-hole in the end and I’m glad that he got what he deserved.
It was such a fun read . Thanks again for the opportunity ❤️

i really enjoyed this, the storyline was captivating and well written, kept me interested and wanting to know what was coming next the whole way through, however i just felt like at points it was a little bit rushed and the characters weren’t as in depth as they could’ve been so i didn’t connect with them on a really deep level, but overall this was a really good book

This book is very good. It keeps you in suspense and you wanting to know what is going to happen next. The characters Pearle, Goldie, and Blaque keeps the readers wanting to know more about them. Goldie and Pearle (brother and sister) team that the readers what happens next for them. The readers will be on the edge of their seats waiting to know more about Blaque. Also, the readers will be want to know the outcome of the budding romance between Blaque and Pearle. I gave the book 5 stars. This book kept me wanting to know what happened next and not wanting to put it down. EXCELLENT!!!

This was an ARC from Black Odessey Media. This novel has a mixture of romance and criminal activity. Gives me a 90s vibe. I thoroughly enjoyed the main character Pearle. She wanted to be an actress because yes she was very talented. Talented enough to change her looks as well as characters to set up dudes and not be recognized when seeing them in passing again. Setting up guys and robbing them along with her brother was supposed to be a means to an end. This was supposed to be the last lick and Pearle and her brother would be out of the game. That was until this last lick got them in bed with the Cartel. The mission was to do a job and get out but lines get blurred.
Definitely a page turner keeps you on edge because you want to know what is going to happen next.

When “Black Odyssey Media” reached out to me to ask if I was interested in reading books from their authors. I was both excited and scared. I immediately knew my first book would have to be “Blaque Pearle”.

The story sounded good. Crime, romance, drama. I thought it would be a good first read. I honestly did not expect to love the book as much as I did. Even with the twist of drugs, gangs, and all that comes with it.

Little backstory, which is one of the reasons I knew I was gonna like this book. We have Pearle and her brother Goldie. They have turned into big time robbers. And they have a great set up, taking it as far as even how to make their goods legit. In ways that are explained in the book.

Then we have the Cartel. And holy crap do they have their own drama. And the DEA. Which of course Pearle and Goldie would also get dragged into this, one way or the other.

Then there is Blaque. Oh my gosh I love Blaque's character. He treats Pearle good, like really good. But this is definitely a bad boy, bad girl, relationship. Though I loved that Marie made Blaque a really big family man. After all part of the drama he is in, is because he loves his family.

With the amount of detail, and descriptions in this story. I was really happy to give it a 9/10 rating. Marie really put a lot into this book. And while she somehow made it a light read, it still felt like you went through a lot more. I personally felt like this 292 page book felt more like a light, quick 400 page read. The characters are relatable, settings are real, and the writing has a nice flow. 

I can not wait to see what Marie has for us next. If you're thinking of trying “Blaque Pearle”. I recommend you just do it. This is one of those books you think you’ll like. Only to then fall in love with it. #HaveYouReadReviews

This book is the perfect example of why you should show your readers information instead of blatantly telling them. There is absolutely no way to go on the protagonists journey with her because she refuses to take you along. The entirety of the story feels like a long-winded ramble from an acquaintance that specializes in the concept of revisionist history. I remember absolutely nothing about the character’s backstory, due to the fact that she told it to me in four lengthy paragraphs instead of allowing the information to come up naturally in context. Also, points were incredibly repetitive, such as,

“He laughed while starting the car. ‘Damn, that’s funny as hell.’”

Yeah. I got that from the laugh.

“My stomach growled loudly, expressing its anger at being empty. ‘Damn, I’m hungry.’”

Yeah. I got that from the growling.

“Right there in the car, I straddled him in the driver’s seat and stuck my tongue in his mouth. His eyes widened at my aggressiveness.”

You don’t have to tell me it’s because you were aggressive, I can see that. Leaving absolutely nothing for the reader to do on their part makes for a dragging story. All of these examples were also only in the first three chapters. The plot was mildly interesting; I personally don’t mind when books feel predictable as long as they end up being executed in a satisfying or entertaining way. However, the writing style and lack of editing robbed this story of any intrigue.

The Blaque Pearle book is an amazing journey. I purchased a hard copy of the book and the Audible version. I finished the whole book in one setting during a business trip from Detroit to the west coast. I could not stop listening to the book. It was like listening to a movie due to the vivid descriptions, captivating characters, complex storylines and feeling of unfiltered nostalgia. I have been trying to get the unique characters out of my mind for weeks. Some books have the awesome ability to stain your brain, touch your emotions, elevate your senses and spark inspired creativity. This book allows you to paint your own mental pictures as you follow a literary and soon to be cinematic thriller. We all have experience works that are unforgettable and seem to leave you captured in a period of time. This is one of those unquestionable must haves in your collection of fictional literature geared for mature adults who enjoy unpredictable twists. The quotes, entertaining beginning, consistent creativity, and masterful ending will have you plotting on storylines for a potential sequel. I had the unexpected pleasure of reading the work of an upcoming powerhouse in entertainment due to the strong recommendations of my wife. I will support future projects from this author. You will not be disappointed with a purchase for your collection.

What a fantastic read! From start to finish, Blaque Pearle had me completely hooked. The characters were gritty yet so charming that I felt like I was right in the middle of all their situations, experiencing it all firsthand. While the overall story was captivating, it was Blaque and Pearle’s love story that really pulled me in.

I initially picked up this book after seeing a post about it on TikTok, and I’m so glad I did! Pearle, in particular, stood out to me as a strong and resilient female character. I also appreciated how the sex scenes were balanced, never overwhelming the story but adding just the right touch.

Set in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the vibe of the book made me feel like I was reading a DMX love story—it had that raw, urban energy that kept me turning pages. Goldie’s chapter was a standout for me, as it tied up so many loose ends, answering a lot of the questions that had been lingering.

This was my first Tarris Marie and I'm not disappointed. Blaque and Pearle were made for each other, it's one of those "when you know you know" type loves. The story had a lot of twists and turns and you had to really be mindful of who you trusted. I felt like DEA Agent Walker was crooked and I never trusted him. I wish Blaque would've let his family know what was going on because he had support and didn't have the carry that load alone. I'm still mad at Goldie, so driven by greed, set up Pearle for the flop and lied about the money. Now a lot unfolded here, but D Walk Jr got beef and suspicions and he's going to be a problem for Zion. It almost makes me feel like Tonya was a plant the whole time or legit worked for Pearle and watched her and put her husband on to her. Hmmm....there's some unfinished business here and I'd be down to spend the block for part 2.

[1.5] the premise of this intrigued me so much, but unfortunately it just fell flat for me. i thought the plot of the book was so fast-paced and jumpy, i didn’t really have time to get to know the characters properly before they were moving on to something else. i thought there were a few opportunities for what would have made some compelling plot twists but the writer chose to go in a different direction with less subtlety.

Pearle and Blaque the epitome of urban romance thus far! Although, both were deep into the crime world they both had soul ties to one another, strong family ties and morals. What started out as an art heist for Pearle turned into her meeting her soul tie Blaque. They both went through so much together separately and as a couple. The ending was insane as I wasn’t expecting the two sons crossing paths years later! I would definitely read the next if a sequel was created following the sins of Blaque and Walker.

It was a short and fast paced book. The things Blaque says to Pearle had me swooning. The spice was really good in this book for the little bit that was shown. One word. Amazing. This book was literally amazing. So great that it could be on the big screen. Based in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Blaque Pearle was such a suspenseful read. Pearle and Goldie, a dynamic duo known for amazing acting skills and conning the best of the best. Blaque, a mogul who gets what he wants. Pearle, Goldie, and Blaque kept the pages turning. This read will have you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails, and on your toes at the same time. The twists and turns of each characters storylines were thoroughly planned out and placed perfectly. Absolutely a page turner and not to just finish the book. You want to hear from them after each scene. You want to know what happened or what happens next. 5 star rating. Can’t wait for more from this author.
