I met my human mate when she accidentally sold herself at an alien slave auction. She’s half my size, and she's cute when she's wrong. (And she's wrong about so many things, like who owns who.) I'll thoroughly enjoy teaching this human of mine just who she belongs to. And making the baby my pride demands of me? That's going to be a lot of fun too.
But it's not all fun and games. The world I come from is harsh, and the rules of my pride are vicious. I cannot shelter her from every rough reality of Leonid life. My mate will have to be as strong as she is soft. She will have to bend so she does not break. I am alpha of my pride, and she will come to understand her place as my mate, or suffer the consequences.
My Big Alien Owner contains many dark themes relating to a society of leonine aliens, and a very possessive alien alpha. Reader discretion is advised.
Amazon Top 100, USA Today bestselling, and #1 bestselling author in multiple Amazon categories, Loki Renard writes sizzling hot, occasionally dark and twisted stories of dominance, submission and discipline.
Premise: who bought who at the slave auction - the human FMC who needs help on the farm or the alpha MMC who needs a human mate?
Classic Loki Renard (i.e. a bit farcical, a little dark, definitely gets spanky), with a scrappy human FMC and lion-esque MMC who is equal parts doting and disciplinary. This was a good palate cleanser.
A solidly written blended power dynamic kind of love story!
Ava and Aslan met on a scam date, lol, that's as close as I can get to a description on their meet-cute. Scammed and almost killed accidentally, Aslan saves her, and then they embark on a witty kind of build up to love. It's definitely an opposites attract kind of story, where she's a scrappy loner survivor, and he's a powerful alpha. I loved the story development and didn't see the twist of part two coming. Read it for the character bonding, but you'll love it for the twisted twist!
Any universe Loki Renard creates is going to be a treat because she is a brilliant creator of worlds. On a more personal note, I have been waiting for more cat aliens for years, since the Grimalkin. This book has been dark and delightful and messy and complex and utterly captivating. It was very difficult to put down. Azlan and Ava somehow acquire each other at auction and each have their own agendas, which they are clear about. Their worlds collide and difficult decisions have to be made. There’s a twist I never saw coming and things got even more interesting. Excellent writing, fascinating characters, an engaging and unpredictable plot, intrigue, and the perfect amounts of dominance, darkness, and sweetness. Definitely worth a read and worthy of all the stars!!!!
This is very typical Loki Renard. If you love her worlds, you’ll love this one too. The ending does have a crazy twist that you never see coming but makes total sense. I read pretty much every book and anticipate the books Loki Renard writes. I would totally love to read a second of any world she builds. In this one, I’d love a follow up on one of the brothers, but I know and respect it’s not going to happen. I knocked off one star, because the ending even with an epilogue felt unfinished and kind of lazy. That said I’d still recommend it
Ava and Alan each believes they bought the other. He needs an heir and she needs to exterminate a pervasive species from her farm. They make a deal. They fall in love!
Loved This!!!!!!!! 💚💚🦁💚💚 Here Kitty Kitty Kitty… OMG, I’d never stop petting him🤭😉🤭 💘“He smells like he is mine”💘 Funny, sweet, 🔥hot & yummy-naughty🔥, she’s somewhat of a nervous babbler, with some drama of course but from HIS side of the family! She has such a big heart, especially to keep visiting Kain. The “cover model” needs an update, more fur… a lions mane at least 😶 Even in the future the login process is beyond aggravating 😆 : “PROVE YOU’RE NOT A ROBOT. SELECT ALL THE ICE CREAM VANS.”
I did like this one more than most of the other books I have read by this author. It was fun for the most part and had some hot moments. And all in all I liked both of the main characters. I really only questioned how Ava's brain worked twice, so that's not too bad either.
Ava is the last living member of her family. She grew up on an asteroid where they farmed all they needed to survive and lived very simple lives. Unfortunately for Ava, being the only one left means she's the only one there to protect her farm from complete destruction by animals called growlers. She needs help, and in desperation, decides to purchase a slave from a black market. But things don't go as planned when she finds out that she has been purchased by the male she thought she bought.
Azlan is like this humanoid lion...I guess? Honestly, the whole animal male thing of the science fiction books I read doesn't really register with my brain so I sort of end up glossing over it. But he has paws and fangs and is furry all over. Though now that I think about it, a tail was never mentioned...and that could have been fun. Anyway. He's the alpha of his people and he wants to change how things are done on his planet. He has heard that human females are submissive and easy to control so he comes up with this brilliant idea for buy one and have her give him the heirs he requires, then send her on her way. See, brilliant. Too bad that when he actually sees Ava he doesn't have any plans to let her go anymore.
For a while these two go back and forth about who actually belongs to who, but it's pretty much always in a playful way. They make a deal that gives both of them what they wanted when buying the other anyway and actually become closer as the days go by while they fortify Ava's farm. But their peaceful days are abruptly shattered when Azlan's brothers show up, destroying Ava's crops, destroying all the work they did to the fencing, and tell Azlan that their father has attacked their people. So it's off to their planet they go.
On Azlan's planet, Ava needs to get used to the fact that she can't always act the way she has been while she was alone anymore. Azlan tries to makes her understand that she needs to obey him when in front of others, but as it turns out, Ava kind of enjoys the punishments. On the planet, things are in a bad way. All the women were taken, many of the men were killed, and the cubs are going to starve without their mothers. Ava is so far out of her depth, but she does whatever she can to help them, which mostly involves her milking goats to feed the babies something. And her actions do earn her the respect of many. But something needs to be done and Azlan is seemingly dragging his feet on taking any action against his father. Which makes it easy for Ava to fall into a trap by a traitor (that was painfully obvious). I did like the little twist with it though. While everything was resolved with an irritating ease, it wasn't necessarily a bad ending.
This is definitely a guilty pleasure book for me, and that is saying a lot considering all the sci fi / alien romance books I read ;)
I'm not that familiar with The Lion King, but I would definitely call it "Dark Lion King" ;)
Ava needs help with vermin on her family's farm, and Azlan needs a mate. They both think they "bought" each other for those purposes. First Azlan comes to Ava's asteroid and helps her, meanwhile they work towards the heir he needs.
Azlan's brothers come, saying he needs to get back to his own planet ASAP because his evil father has taken over the pride. Ava and Azlan go to his home only to find out they were too late, and all the women have been taken and there are some cubs that have been left without a mother and there is a war brewing. Ava takes care of the motherless cubs, and gets herself kidnapped and taken back to where the father is.
Even though I don't like shifter books per se, or stories with this type of "bestiality" Alien Owner was funny, and was written as if it was your standard alien romance, they're just not as humanoid as expected. I would definitely read more by this author.
Wow, this was HOT, but it also had some funny, sweet, swoony moments. Alien Owner has a possessive protective alpha and a sassy, strong, innocent vegetarian fmc, and did I mention it has breeding? This checked all my boxes and more.
But what they don’t know is that they both purchased each other at the alien auction. Azlan makes a deal with Ava: he will help get rid of the growlers and protect her farm under one condition: she knows he owns her, and she’ll be his mate and have his children.
It started out funny, Ava had some funny moments but then I started to lose interest when her and Azlan had sex in the first chapter after they both “bought each other”, and then repeatedly after that.
The romance was so surface level and while I get that the start of this is based around him just wanting to make a baby (which the breeding kink in this was not good) it still doesn’t mean there can’t be some effort into making the change of feelings believable.
Then I got to the discipline scene and I’m sorry your not going to have your male character basically beat her ass (literally he was spanking her with his hand and then a belt AGAINST HER WILL) and then have them both exclaim how they “love” each other. That’s not romantic in any away way shape of form and it’s not believable in anyway shape or form. There was zero effort put into this to make the romance feel worthwhile.
Ava needs help. Her farm is being overrun by Growlers and the only option she has is to “buy an alien.” It should be easy. Azlan needs a mate. In order to be considered the true Alpha of his clan he needs a mate. Shouldn’t be too hard. Both of them go on the web and get what they are looking for. But who got who? The way Ava tells it, he belongs to her. But when you read what Azlan experienced, HE is the one that got the mate. I think it is funny that the aliens always think human females are so docile. Like we don’t push back. But he finds out. And I do love the exchange between the two. Azlan has such a dirty mouth you just can’t help being sucked in, drooling. And of course there is a small twist with Azlan’s world. Sometimes we have to fight for what is right even if we have to sacrifice ourselves.
Alien Owner is the first book in the Possessive Protective Aci-Fi Alien Romance Series by Loki Renard. I love a good sci-fi romance and this series has been waiting on my TBR for quite some time now, and as part of my reading challenge this year is to try to get through as many of my TBR as possible, coupled with the fact the fact that I had the entire series sitting, waiting- well it was a no brainer. #whodoesntloveagoodbingeread This is Aslan and Ava’s story. Ava finds herself in a bit of a predicament, and Aslan ‘saves’ her. He’s the Alpha of his pride, so there’s a lot of responsibility to live up to. Ava might be small, but she’s feisty- and no one ‘owns’ her. Sparks fly, and things get steamy. Sci-fi romance with drama, angst, darker elements, possessive alpha male, challenges, twists, and more. Happy Reading…
This book had a lot of twists and turns about a normal girl Ava who's trying to save her farm from the growlers who have taken over her crops . She is the one that goes to a slave market to buy an alien to try to take back her farm and get rid of the growlers, but to her surprise She buys Azlan a large hair alain but is surprised to say that he buys her. He helps her on the farm for a while, but says that she is his mate, and they need to go back to his planet. He wants to mate with her and have many babies, and to produce an heir. Ava doesn't know what to think about that. Her hairy large alien is not shy when it comes to bedding Ava this story has a lot of sexy parts and if you don't like that kind of action, you can skip over those parts very good book.
Azlan was a great character. I really liked his take change attitude, and his physic. A big muscular Lion man. Yum! Ava was too perfect as a worthy mate for him. Great background history of his people, and how they were trying to change, and grow into a more peaceful people, who had the choice of having just one mate, or multiple partners, as their feline ancestry were more prone to have. Wonderful ending.
This was a short read, and I knew the plot would develop quickly. I though they said I love you too quickly, but like I said it was less than 200 pages.
Something did shock me. I was about 30% in, then I gasped. Azlan is a lion humanoid alien. The lion from Narnia is named Aslan. Nowhere in the description does it hint to this being a Narnia fanfic, so I’m sure it isn’t meant to be. Was the author inspired by the movies/books? Who knows.
FMC thinks she bought a male to help her with a problem, the MMC thinks he bought himself a mate to produce heirs.
Obviously and of course, things don’t go to plan.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. And didn’t expect the little twist at the end, mostly because I expected the villain to be the villain. Color me surprised.
Thanks booktok, for guiding me to this little gem!
This is the first alien romance I've read in a long time, and I enjoyed it. I read it pretty much in one sitting, so it kept my attention. It would have been nice to see the changes made to the planet in a few extra chapters after Azlan took over. Also, it was sort of open-ended about the long term fate of Kain.
Loki’s stories are always rich in plot and character. Latterly her books are also heavy with humour. There is a sincerity of connection between the main characters that demonstrates that Loki understands deep love and how to portray it. This is a short, sweet treat, with enough alien darkness to satisfy. Keep it coming please Loki!
I so loved Azlan because he was the perfect dominant alpha/lion and Ava was the spunky, sassy and funny human. When you put them together, it was way too hot, and I loved every turn of the page.
Be advised, knots and spankings are definitely involved.
I truly enjoyed reading this story and can't wait to read another 😊. This series has been well worth reading, each one is definitely different, but has lots of action, nasty bad things, Alpha males and a crazy female running amuck 😉. Thanks again Loki, I absolutely LOVE your stories and can't wait to read another 🤓.
Ava needs a man to help her with her homeland, an asteroid. Azlan, a leoniod comes to her aid but not everything goes as she thought. Azlan has to go to his home planet. Ava gets into trouble. Azlan to the rescue! More happens so read to get the whole story. Very good read.
For a pride of fierce savages they really didn't consistently act that way. *******Spoilers****** Betrayals weren't punished with death but it's ok to belt whip your mate against her wishes? I didn't like how quickly they jumped to "I love you" or the super anti-climatic ending.
So this is an interesting take on the alien world This is a futuristic story where a vegan human buys an alien to defend her farm from other aliens . I'd say the breeding kink or bond here is very surface level and we already do that in the first chapter. It felt like it could have been a great alien human breeding world series if fleshed out better.
I can not tell u enough how much I loved this story. It made me laugh out loud so many times. Def one of my new favorites. I didn't find it dark at all though but still a great read.
Hi I very much enjoyed reading Alien Owner, with our two main characters Ava and Azlan. Laughing when the growlers get into everything. Loki Renard’s vast imagination always captivates you into her world.
and funny, with a good twist and a very satisfying epilogue. very heavy on film leonine references, with a bit of stephen king feline movie nod. i liked the story and characters, and can't wait for another loki renard book!!
It was okay. But I like more of a story it seemed any and character development happed at about 100 or 130 pages in. Then the climax, haha, of the book happened with no actual anything happening. He shows up just takes Ava and the guards dispose the brother. Like wut. It was the biggest let down.
Who owns who is the question as soon as we meet. Ava and Azlan try to convince each other they own them but a compromise has accrued where Azlan helps her first and then she helps him but does it work out well? Read this recommended book.
I loved the new romance storyline ! It captures all of what keeps me glued to the story , suspense , laughter , sadness , and of course romance without the redundancy of many of the alien romances.
