100 Most Disgusting Things on the Planet is divided into a range of categories, from disgusting animals, plants, and other creatures to disgusting foods, disgusting inventions, and of course a selection of revolting human body bits such as snot, scabs and earwax. Each page includes a 'revoltingness rating' and intriguing description of the disgusting topic in question, along with stunning photographs and diagrams. Side boxes and a science section on every page give extra angles and valuable educational insights into the most disgusting things our world has to offer.

This book is a pretty good book. It was not as good as some of the other books in this series, but it is still interesting. I would not recommend this book to girls as most if the girls i know would probably be disgusted by some of the things in this book. You may think of this as a book you read when you're 10 years old, but i still learnt a lot of new things in this book. Good book.
This book is about the hundred most disgusting things in the world. Each page has a different organism and there is a short description about it with the rating of how disgusting they are. Like dung beetles which live in poop.
I picked this book up because the title really popped out.
I finished this book because I wanted all the information toput in this book of facts I have.
I recommend this to cristopher though I think he might have already read it.
This Scholastic, Inc publication turned out to be a lot better than expected. Covering a range of insects, critters, foodstuffs, microorganisms and bodily fluids this volume is full of surprises with its accompanying facts, trivia and photos cataloging both well known and lesser items of yuck in full colored glory.
So, when I was growing up as a boy, these “Top 100” books by Anna Claybourne were my absolute favorite books to read. I always loved rankings and the pictures that went along with her books, such as “Most Dangerous Animals”, etc.
For the sake of nostalgia, my wife bought me this book for Christmas, and it brought back many memories from my childhood.
The pages I found the most interesting were: - Horned Lizard - Surinam Toad - Pitcher Plant - Eyelash Mite - Guinea Worm - Tongue Eating Louse - Ant Stitches - Snakebite
For my own future notes, here are some interesting facts and quotes from the book:
- Cockroaches can skitter at 3.5 miles per hour. That’s like a human running at more than 190 mph. - To the ancient Egyptians, dung beetles were sacred - representing the sun god, Ra, rolling the sun across the sky each day. - Skunks can shoot their liquid up to 16 feet away! - Opossums can eat several species of snakes. The poison doesn’t affect them. - Because leeches release an anesthetic when they attach, you won’t feel the biting leech until you brush over it. - Swiftlets’ nests are among the most pricey foods on Earth - 1 pound of the nests can cost more than $1,200. - Starfish really can regenerate, or grow, a new arm if one is chopped off. It's even true that if a single starfish is cut into two pieces, each piece can regenerate, making two new starfish. - Komodo dragons have been known to dig up human graves to eat the bodies inside. Local people pile stones on top of graves to stop this from happening. - The horned lizard can shoot its own blood a distance of up to 3 feet (1 m) away to frighten an attacker. How? The blood flow from its head to its body is cut off, so that the blood collects and pressure builds up. When the pressure is strong enough, weak blood vessels right next to the lizard's eyes burst open, and the blood spurts out. - Only female mosquitoes suck blood—they do it to get nutrients they need for laying eggs. - Milk and dairy products can make phlegm thicker and yuckier, so don't have too much of them when you have a cold. - To avoid motion sickness, try to lock your eyes onto a fixed point, such as the horizon. This makes your brain less confused.

This is a totally discussing book full of gross creepy crawling things and other gross things that kinda make me want to puke. It also cover body functions, germs and even the infamous maggot cheese. One cool aspect that is interesting about this book is it has a yuck factor that goes from a little gross to totally disgusting.
I would have this in a middle school classroom a science class probably. I think studying grows or spooky things in the month of October would be a fun thing to do and this book would be a great resource. I think boys would be more attracted to this book than girls.
- Love the cover! - Interesting facts but terribly gross. - This book is not just written for fun. I'm pretty sure it's written for people to tell them to cover their food when it's on the table or flying insects will poop on them. *coughs* trying to be funny here... - Ratings are reasonable. - Pictures are.. AWESOME!
If you are the kind of person (mostly boys) who loves insanely gross stuff, this book is for YOU.

This book describes the most disgusting things on earth, it includes things from foods with deep-fried spiders to people peeing on the streets. The book rates from 1 to 5 for how disgusting it is. I read this book because it looks interesting, I wanted to know where the most disgusting things come from.
Fun book for boys I'd say. Lots of interesting factoids about bugs, snakes, lizards, belching, boogers, etc. Some of it was actually kind of stomach turning, but still interesting.
Amazing informational text that will certainly engage some readers. Could be read cover-to-cover. Also, works well as a reference piece to find specific topics to discuss or share. Absolutely full of great text structures to support readers' understanding and expand familiarity of informative texts. Could use as a compare / contrast activity or ask students to pick the most disgusting thing and defend their opinion with text evidence.
