Rate this book
When a ComBloc terrorist group takes a West German agent hostage, the five men of Phoenix Force defy a presidential order and travel to Germany to help free their friend. The terrorists are willing to exchange Karl Hahn for a man the West Germans have convincted of spying.

It should have been a routine trade, but Hahn's government is reluctant to comply. It's almost as if they want to sacrifice their agent.

The Force finds itself hamstrung by two governments. But if Hahn's own country won't save him, Katz and his men are all he has. When Phoenix Force unleashes its fury, few will forget the Bonn blitz!

Phoenix Force is a series of action-adventure novels first published in 1982 by American Gold Eagle publishers. It is a spin-off of the Executioner series created by Don Pendleton.

Phoenix Force is one of two neutralization teams working for Stony Man, a top-secret anti-terrorist organization. As with The Executioner, the Phoenix Force novels have been written by a succession of authors under the pseudonym Gar Wilson. In 1991, Gold Eagle combined Phoenix Force with another Executioner spin-off series, Able Team, and launched the Stony Man book series, which is still being published as of 2005.

Karl Hahn, a sometime replacement when one of the Force is laid up is kidnapped by a Communist sponsored West German terrorist group that wants to exchange him for a government traitor. The only problems are that the Force is prohibited to help their friend. Also, the prisoner that the terrorists want happens to be dead. So, no exchange, their friend is dead also. Of course, the Force decide to take time off and go on holiday. They all happen to vacation in West Germany of all places.

A really solid volume of this long running series. In this one Phoenix Force learns that their West German ally Karl Hahn had been captured by terroists and they want to do a prisoner exchange. One small problem, the prisoner they want had committed suicide. So now Phoenix Force has to go against the President's orders and go to West Germany to find and free their friend no matter what.

Highly recommended, could be read as a solo but the background of the rest of the series is helpful. Especially the books that Hahn appears in to show his relationship with the team. Has plenty of action and a easy to follow storyline.

When sometime ally and friend, Karl Hahn, is captured by terrorists who want to exhange him for a prisoner being held by the West Germans and is pretty much being written off, the men of Phoenix Force take matters into their own hands in yet another unauthorized assignment to find their friend before he's killed.

This one has great action, nothing drags at any point. It introduces a friend of Gary's, Dieter Beck, who is willing to help the team despite his own orders to the contrary.

A spin off series from his Executioner books. This series follows several secondary characters that band together. Recommended
