I read this book as a child and came across it today in a classroom. I had to pick it up and read it again! It has great illustrations and simple text, so it's great for early readers and short and sweet read alouds.
This was really cute. It makes your children learn how you call animals babies and they give you fun facts with each baby animal. The drawing are really great and cute.
Cute book that explores different types of animal babies while giving a brief comment about their families or an aspect of how they grow.
Although mostly mammal-based there are a few rare examples of other groups such as birds and even the alligator. Unfortunately even though the cover presents the reader with a red fox it doesn't appear in the actual text nor the wild turkey and the orangutan, which appear in the title pages. A bit of a disappointment. Meanwhile the first two entries were a nod to Disney's Bambi down to even the hovering butterflies.
The illustrations are beautifully done and very realistic so the reader will know exactly which animal they are looking at even without reading the text.
In the end a great start on teaching children about animals and their babies for those curious to learn more.
I liked everything. I thought that the picture of the anteaters is cute. I learned the baby giraffe was the size my dad. (Mom helped write this review.)
Great art. I wish it stuck with a theme a bit more (starts with what the babies are called then it says what they do, would be nice if there was something similar listed for each animal)
I really enjoyed reading this animal fiction book for little children. I would read this to a kindergarten class during reading time. I like this book because it teaches children about the different types of animal that are in the world. In the book as the animals grow older, I like how the book explains what happens as the animal grows older. Their appearance and their attitude changes. This is something that will teach the children about growing up.
This book is a super way for children's I learn all about different animals and their babies. Good for introducing children to different habitats as well I thought. The book gives good detail and description of animals. The illustrations are very good and even more useful than the text in my opinion in capturing the children's imagination and getting them excited about the animal kingdom
A great way for kids to learn about different types of animals and their babies, especially if babies have a specific name (ex: rabbit babies are called "kits," baby horses are "foal"). Very educational but I felt like it sort of ended abruptly.
A cute and simple little picture book with tons of information about a variety of baby animals. It ends abruptly, but since it's not a story, that's not so crazy. The illustrations are all right -- realistic and soft.
