I am a forever fan of Shirlee McCoy! I discovered her about a year ago, maybe a little less, and I have been on a mission to read all her books. I still have a lot to go, but she is superb at suspense with a great dose of the inspirational, which I love. Now I must go read another.

This book overall was okaaaay. I just found the back and forth struggle between the two main characters of all the reasons why they should not fall in love with each other rather annoying. That particular theme basically made up the bulk of the story line along with someone trying to kill Rayne. All along I knew who the perpetrator was going to be so no surprise there.
My complete reaction: Meh.

Private Eye Protector by Shirlee McCoy Book 5 in the Heroes for Hire Series
Rayne Sampson, sister to Jonas from book 4, wakes up in the hospital confused. Last she knew of she had lived in Phoenix. When Chance Richardson comes in her room she thinks his eyes are familiar but that is all. Ends up she was in a car accident and it wiped out the memories of the past seven weeks. The woman who was now watching her daughter, Emma, was a stranger to her, even if Lila was Chance's mom. She also felt someone watching her in the doorway of her hospital room. All she wants it to get out of there and have Emma in her arms. Her ex-fiance, Michael, had told her she was not mother material but she would not allow his hateful words to take root. Because of Michael, Rayne had made herself keep to 3 rules, no one was to help her, no more men, and never ever fall in love again. What was it about Chance's eyes that made her feel her rules did not have a chance against him?

Chance had been through what he thought was love and did not want to go through that ever again, yet with Rayne and Emma the idea of family did not seem so bad. Now it seemed that someone was out to hurt and maybe even kill Rayne. Every protective male instinct came to life in Chance. He would not fail them and maybe he could redeem himself from his past.

Rayne and Chance both work for Kane, although Rayne don't remember much of that. As Chance takes Rayne on as his case for work, to find out what is happening and who is after her, they have to spend much time together. Each moment with Chance has her rules coming apart a bit more. Although running from the danger that followed her keeps interrupting their romance that neither wants.

Another great addition to the Heroes for Hire Series. Learn more about this series and Shirlee's other books on my blog at:

This was a pretty good book. It was a romance, but there were some things I didn't like. It was like she didn't know how to write in full sentences. She liked to use phrases and in some parts, it was like I wanted her to "get on with the story, already."

A very simple romance/mystery ....easy read....one that was easy to figure out after reading 25 pages or so. Good light reading as a buffer against longer, more involved books.

Great story about a single Mom, raising her best friend's child; she get into a car accident and has amnesia! What a suspenseful ride! You wonder just what else can go wrong! How many times have I thought that in my own life?? Lots!

There is so much in this story that I can relate to, it made it that much more interesting!

Highly Recommend any and every book by Shirlee McCoy! I love all her books!

I'm still loving this series. Rayne has very important rules in her life, all designed to keep her heart healthy. But now that she's met Chance, she may be breaking them all. This book starts off with plenty of action and suspense and it continues throughout. Very nice to get a peek at some of the couples that I met in some of the earlier books too.

Private Eye Protector was an amazing book. It showed the grace and love of God. It was a love story, but with the right amount of suspense for you not want to put it down. I highly recommend this book. Lots of suspense and I love the characters faith and trust in God. Wonderful, clean romance. I truly enjoyed this book

Shirley McCoy is one of my favorite Love Inspired writers, and I enjoyed this novel. I did, however, feel that it wasn't as fast-moving as some of her other books and that at times the story line bogged down.

Mysterious

While reading this book again and again, the story is still intriguing and exciting. Great characters, awesome plot, yet enough humor to keep the reader engaged in the story

This was an unusual plot because main character has lost her memory. She is a single mom. Someone wants to end her life and her babies she hires a private investigator whose mom is her babysitter. She doesn't trust anyone and barely trusts her PI.

I enjoyed this mystery.

The title is perfect. Chance Richardson is a private eye who saves a woman who worked in his firm from an automobile wreck. He does not figure on becoming her protector.

Rayne Sampson moved from Arizona to start over. After the car accident she cannot remember why. She is guardian of a friend's baby, Emma. Her friend died of a drug overdose which turned out to be murder. She asked Rayne to care for her baby if anything happened to her.

This is a book hard to lay down. Suspense, murder, faith and love unfold in the story.

Neither Chance nor Rayne want to fall in love but it happens. They can see how God brought them together.

A mystery that reveals Rayne's ex-boyfriend in a differnet light than Rayne knew him to be.

Rayne never felt she could be a Mother to Emma. But she will protect Emma at all costs even if it means her life. She also thought she could never trust a man again but it happens.

I've always loved the wonderful combination of faith, love, and suspense in Love Inspired Suspense books. This book did not disappoint me either.

Rayne fears for her life while she can't remember who she is running from. Rayne's love and dedication to Emma, her friend's daughter whom Rayne is raising after her friend's death, is very heart-warming. She has a set of three rules. But given how charismatic and protective Chance is, it is inevitable that they will be broken, especially the rule about not falling in love again. Chance does not want to fall in love either, but he has to protect Rayne and her little girl at all costs, and it is impossible not to get attached to them in the process...

What a great twists and turns suspense book. Every time I thought things were solved something else happened. I really enjoyed this book. I actually read it in two days, I just didn't have time to get on here and review it. Definitely worth the reads. This is my second Heroes for Hire series book I've read and the were both great. Great to see you can have a Christian book and still have it been exciting!
