This was such a sweet romantic story. Cass and her son Dusty had moved to Sweetheart Creek by her sister and was going to fix up Peppermint Lodge for a wedding venue. I felt awful for Cass as her ex husband left her after she had Dusty. This put her off on love. I loved how she met Landon and his daughter Rylynn at a Mother’s Day dance. Rylynn was a character who cracked me up most of the time. Landry talked Cass into watching his daughter as a nanny when he needed someone while he was playing hockey or practicing. I was glad to see Landon move into the lodge to help them both. Landon was such a sweetheart and he loved Dusty and did as much with him as he did with his own daughter. You will love the heartwarming adventure the two of them went on. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
I loved this book. I had a hard time putting it down. It’s sweet, with the perfect amount of heat between Landon and Cassandra.
Sometimes, two people are just meant to meet each other and find the other half of themselves. When Landon and Cassandra meet, there’s an instant attraction, but both being single parents, they fight it.
Landon Johnson is a pro hockey player with a bright and active four year old daughter. Rylnn. Rylnn might remind you of Lilo from Disney’s Lilo and Stitch. She’s precocious and a bit bossy but lovable and well-behaved. And she’s all about princesses. Cassandra is a divorcée with a young son whose in kindergarten. Dusty is all boy, and in need of some male guidance. When the two families cross paths at a dance, it’s like fate arranged it. But Cass has been hurt by her former husband.
Landon needs reliable childcare for Rylnn, but he can’t find it in San Antonio where his team, the Dragons, plays. When he meets Cass a second time, a lightbulb goes off in his head. He only needs to convince Cass that it’s a good and workable solution.
Landon is the perfect man, willing to go the extra mile to make sure that Cass and both kids are happy. When Dusty develops a health problem, Landon is right there helping in every way he can. Can the two get together and work out their misunderstanding and crossed signals?
This book is wonderful! I highly recommend it.
I received a copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
I loved it. This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.
The characters were realistically done, even the kids. The kids are both adorable and have very different personality types, but get along well. Their parents each see that their child could benefit from the influence of the other adult, but neither in interested in a relationship.
It was fun to accompany them on their road to a HEA.
Oof! I think I fell in love with Landon from the moment the book opened. But it’s also possible that I’ve been secretly falling in love with him in the background of all the previous books. A single dad trying to raise a strong, brave, capable daughter? Be still my beating heart. That really was better than catnip. And Cass? Bright heavens! Too much of her story is too familiar. Stubborn, independent, incapable of graciously accepting help. Hold up a moment. Am I describing the character or myself? Yeah, I connected with Cass a little too well. And it hurt to watch her try and sabotage potentially the best thing to come into her life. I was in awe of the quiet, patient ways Landon proved, over and over again, that he would be there for her. That he could, and would, be the kind of partner she needed and deserved. And, in classic show business style, the children and animals ran away with the story in every scene they appeared. That ending was so satisfying, I can’t wait to dig into the rest of the series
Another heartwarming book in the series by Jean Oram. Such a sweet story of a single pro hockey player, Landon, who finds himself raising his best friend’s orphaned daughter. Rylnn is a little girly-girl princess which is totally foreign to Landon. He meets Cassandra who is a single mom with a five year old son that is All boy. She’s trying to renovate a lodge into a wedding venue but needs help with the finances. Four people come together to help each other cope with their individual needs. I loved the way Jean Oram wove this storyline.
The Peppermint Lodge is a sweet, heartwarming, inspirational, small town romance! I really felt like I knew these characters as they worked so hard to take care of their children. I love how the nanny/boarder "tool" scenario turned into an actual HEA. I was sucked into this world and hated to go to sleep. Then I got up and finished the book almost before breakfast! This well written book provided me a lovely break in my week.
I had so much fun writing Landon and Cass. She's independent like I am, but sometimes we just need a rich hockey player to sweep us off our feet and make things easy. Am I right?
Peppermint Lodge is available in ebook, paperback, large print and audio (and also in Kobo Plus!):
Cass and Landon both had trouble accepting help. Cass, since her husband divorced her for having a difficult pregnancy and delivery, he didn't want difficulties or anybody that didn't fit his mold. Landon refused to accept the physical help he needed to recover from a shattered ankle. Together, they both come to an arrangement to look after his daughter Rylnn and help Cass with medical bills and someone for her son Dusty with a bad heart to look up to. Between the kids, Rylnn seems to be the smartest and more mature of the four at times, but she is still four, going on forty. All problems eventually work out, and they marry. Really fun and loving book.

The Peppermint Lodge is book 4 in the Hockey Sweethearts series by Jean Oram about single parents.
Up next is Landon Jackson and Cassandra “Cass” McTavish, 2 single parents who need each others help. He’s a NHL hockey goalie who needs a nanny for his daughter and she needs a job to get her lodge up and running for a wedding venue and funds for the medical bills for her son.
A slow burn romance, counting on each other, living together for convenience, laughs, tears, emotions riding the highs and lows and the kids sometimes steal the show…
I loved The Peppermint Lodge. It's a sweet, wholesome, funny story about building families in places you don't expect to find them. He's an NHL hockey player with a precocious preschool "princess" he's single parenting. She's the divorced mom of a kindergardener with medical issues cash flow problems that are keeping her from her dream job. They could each be the answer to the other's problem ... and they could be so much more. Cass and Landon make a perfect story-book pair. She's strong but vulnerable, determined to do her best for her young son and gun-shy when it comes to new relationships. Landon is hockey player, dedicated to his career and a single parent by default after his best friend died unexpectedly, providing him with an instant upgrade from sperm doner to solo dad. Each has issues which make for an interesting story. Add in a preschooler who's charming but demanding "princess" and a fatherless little boy who loves trucks and sports and you have the makings of a story that offers all the feels. I laughed and even shed a few tears ... and I welcomed back all the townsfolk from Sweetheart Creek and the Dragons hockey team I've come to love from previous stories in the two series. The Peppermint Lodge is one of the most real, genuine romance stories I've read in awhile, and I can't wait for more hockey romances from Jean Oram.
Another awesome book in the Hockey Sweethearts series. This book has all the feels. Landon and Cass are single parents who want nothing but the best for their children. Landon needs a nanny and Cass needs the money. I like the fact that Cass and Landon became friends first and romance came second. It was heart-warming watching the four of them become a blended family who truly loved each other. Rylnn and Dusty are integral parts of the story and are both precious. I have loved this entire series and am looking forward to the next book.
I absolutely loved Cass and Landon's story. These two were just what the other needed. They were so unsure of each other and themselves in the beginning. It was great to watch them figure it all out. Rylyn and Dusty really added to the story as children always do. I look forward to more books in the series.
The Peppermint Lodge written by Jean Oram. This book has it all wrapped up in its feel good pages! It’s sweet, funny, quirky, a few tears, and just a lot of “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”. And honey, he is a tall, well built, hockey playing hunk with an adorable kid…! Sign. Me. Up. And what’s even better? There are lots more books about this group of friends to read too! Happy me!
Loved how their relationship developed and seeing Cass trust again. Landon was a good father and had all the qualities in my opinion of an amazing husband. Great banter and the kids were adorable. Enjoyed seeing characters from previous books in the series. Two grand gestures in one.
I just loved this couple and their kids! It's not quite your average sweet, clean romance because in my opinion, it has a coup!e twists that keeps you guessing a bit. Don't miss it!
I enjoyed this cute little romance. The single parents w/ kids plot line worked really well and I liked how they came together to help each other and started working as a family unit. It was very cute and wholesome.
I won a book from the author and reviewed because I absolutely loved it. Cassandra is extremely independent and won’t accept any help. Easy reading, a delightful book not to be missed
A lovely slow burn romance. Cassandra and Landon are both single parents, neither of them are looking for a relationship, but they both need a little help. What starts out as two people helping each out develops into a true love story.
The goalie of the team, Landon, had been a sperm donor for his good friend, but when she died he stepped up and became a father. But with all his practices, games, and traveling, he needed someone reliable and practical to be a nanny.
Cass is the mother of a little boy who has a heart condition. The father has exited from the family unit. Cass is struggling to keep their finances solvent, while trying to renovate her lodge into a wedding venue.
They are perfect for each other in so many ways, but each has their protective shields up. Slowly, together, they tackle life's difficulties and move into finding love again.
This is a well written story that tugs at your heart.
