Poor Winter. She is having a hard time adjusting to being a P.I. instead of an FBI agent. I have faith she will find her way. In the meantime, another fascinating murder/mystery that keeps the pages turning.
Winter’s Shock, Mary you did it again it is well written with plenty of suspense, horror, action, twists and turns to keep you reading until the end. Can’t wait for next one
WINTER'S SHOCK is the third installment in the second season of the Winter Black Mystery Series, making this the 21st installment in the entire Winter Black FBI Mystery Series by Mary Stone.
As always, the development of the main characters and depth of depravity in the criminal(s) is just as good/chilling as ever and will keep you in the edge of your seat to the end. While not as intense or chilling as the first season, this is still a look-over-your-shoulder story in Winter's and Dalton's new life. This is definitely a hit, and you should not miss the new direction Winter's new life is taking her!
Winter is getting ready to officially open her own Private Investigation business. But Winter's slower, less dangerous life just isn't to be. Before she even opens up her shop, she had a case that almost kills her.
Attorney Bud Landry, represents a business man charged with murder. He's also scum who is guilty of embezzlement, tax evasion and skimming money. Not to mention he is a womanizer. Before she's done bodies are dropping everywhere. Evan Winter becomes a target and almost dying like all the others.
Mary Stone does a great job of keeping you guessing almost to the end of the book.
My introduction to Mary Stone books were the Winter Black series and I haven't missed even one book by Mary Stone. This 21st installment in this series is just as good as the first one. I'm sure you will be guessing the WHO/WHY all the way to the end.
I did receive an Advance Readers Copy from the author. The above is my honest review and I highly recommend this new installment!
Winter Black-Dalton, PI, is getting her office set up in Austin, Texas where she and her husband, FBI agent Noah Dalton now live. Winter is enjoying setting up Black Investigations and looking forward to the day when her office is up and running. She hires a new assistant, Ariel Joyner, who gets along with her office designer, Kline. Everything seems to be looking up for Winter.
Winter meets with attorney, Bud Landry, who is representing business man, Mat Schultz. It appears Mat Schultz is being accused of murder. Landry wants Winter to clear his client of the murder charges. Winter is hesitant to accept this case knowing she usually goes after the bad guys. In this case the people being murdered are being electrocuted. Is Schultz guilty? What crimes has he committed?
Winter gets assistance from Noah and Detective Darnell Davenport. Noah’s research into Winter’s case has him finding similar cases of murder by electrocution. Now everyone is searching for the killer now known as the Electrocutioner. How many people will die? Who is the Electrocutioner? Will Winter find the person in time to save others?
Winter’s grandmother shares some unsettling news to Winter. What is going on with her grandmother? Winter also finds something at her home that has her in a near panic. What does she find? What does it mean?
Winter’s Shock is well written with plenty of suspense, action, horror, twists and turns to keep you reading until the end.
I enjoyed Winter awkwardness in the building of her new business office. Lol she is so impractical but very fast intelligent and intuitive doing her detective job. She is still trying to establish her name in town and with local PD, even after her past successes. Women don’t have it easy in any career for sure. She is reluctant to take on a new case of crooked man accused of murder. While trying to get as much facts she can, there are more murders committed and her client still does not talk to her. With her open mind she thinks there’s another person of interest. A women. Do you like or know anything about electrocutions. Well here are plenty and in very imaginative way. Mary Stone gives as a genuine plot with the tense twists and horrific moments. Winter gets off course into hot spot and Noah is unable to help. This thrilling story kept me up and I had to finish it at once. The end and reasons for the crime are mind boggling again. And the family and something else is waiting for you S another big surprise . Ah Winter, I’m so grateful you are skillful and wise woman to overcome the hurdles Mary = life throws in your way. Again. Successful amazing story that will take Amazon by storm for sure. Bravo! lida
Another great ARC from Mary Stone. This is the second book in the new Winter Black-Dalton series. Winter and Noah have moved to Austin Texas for a fresh start. Noah is still with the FBI but Winter has opened a private investigation agency. Now an mans attorney has come to her to help prove he did not kill a client. As Winter waits to meet her new client, another body is found. Is her client a serial killer or as his attorney claims, he is being framed. When Winter meets her client she doesn't believe he is a killer but she isn't so sure about his partner in the embezzelment scam. As Winter digs deeper into these murders, she starts uncovering more information that leads ti the partner, or maybe someone else in the ladies past. Now Winter finds herself a target, and at odds with the Austin P.D. Can she find the killer before she kills again, or will someone else die? Great read from the start.
I really enjoy all of Mary Stones books and Winters Shock was another one to add to my enjoyment. From following Winter through her journeys as an FBI Special Agent to dealing with her evil, sick no longer innocent brother to her new stint as a PI. Winter seems to take on cases that she can solve with the clues she is finding. Though she does run into Detective Darnell Davenport, Leanne Flick, Mat Schultz, JoAnne Schultz and other people who may or may not be out to cause trouble in this case. Winter also happens to run in to a few fists to her jaw too. She does solve the case and possibly ruins her relationship with Detective Davenport. If you like action, murder, mysteries you will love this book. It was hard to put down.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Winter is on her second case as an PI. Sociopath electronic is on killing spree.
Winter is trying to settle into life without the Bureau. Her new office is coming along. Her life is still in flux. She has a new contractor for the office and a new assistant for the office. Now she just has to get the client she accepted free of murder charges. Just because he is a cheating husband and a shifty money grubbing real estate dealer does Not mean he is guilty of murder. The real one is setting up her patsy real good but Winter knows she is the one that will break the case. Of course she is putting herself right in the headlight again. This time twice and she is having hard time closing the case.
I'm always happy when a new Winter Black book Is released. This one like the rest did not disappoint. Winter takes on a despicable client who is accused of several horrific murders. Even though he is guilty of other crimes, she knows he is innocent and must prove it. New characters are introduced and old characters return. It's a page turner with lots of twists and turns. Hits lots of emotions - suspense, humor, sadness, happiness, fear, etc. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series. Mary Stone's books do not disappoint. I am an ARC member and am voluntarily leaving this review with great pleasure.
Winter is a magnet for evil. She is able to decipher any clue and inevitably get the killer. This book was great. You had mystery, hatred, greed and adultery. Then you had Winter who is determined and skillful. Noah is beside her always. He is there to catch her and support her. You have to love all these characters. They are real and personable. There are a few twists and turns that keep you on your toes and who is the handyman that has shown up? And who has planted cameras at her grandparent's home? The plot truly does thicken. Can't wait for the next one! I love the Winter Black books!
Winter's Shock( Winter Black FBI Mystery Series Book 21)
OMG!!!!!!!!! I absolutely loved this book. It is amazing that trouble that Winter Black can find. In this one she is looking for a serial killer and is hired by a criminal. She looks into everyone that her client had illegal dealings with and starts thinking it was one of Matt's agents. While researching Leeann, she finds someone else it could be but by the time she figures out who it is, the woman has tried to kill her twice, but she finally wins in the end. I can't wait for the next book.
Winter is beginning her new career as a PI in Austin. Her first client is the attorney for what proves to be a very crooked businessman who has a long list of enemies, and is the prime suspect in a murder. The client believes that his ex lover is responsible, however she seems to have vanished. Meanwhile, Winter, who believes he is guilty of many things, murder isn’t one of them. This story has many twists and turns, and leaves you wanting the next book soon.
Winter’s Shock is amazing. Mary Stone has outdone herself. Winter has a new client who is an guilty of embezzlement and tax evasion and skimming money off the top for himself as well as his lover/assistant and the client but is he a murderer? Winter needs to find out before the next person dies or before she dies. What has she gotten herself into?
You can take the girl out of the FBI but can't take the FBI out of the girl. Winter has her 1st official case as a PI but is causing problems for the local police force and her FBI husband. Folks are targeted and electrocuted. Supposedly, Winter's client that is behind bars is the murderer. Will she find the killer before it's too late or electrocuted herself? How many bodies will fry? Read this quick tale and find out!
Although I suspected who the killed real killer was I was still very interested to see if I was proven I would love all of Mary stones books except for some of them Sure sure The other deputy I forgot her name anyway some of their books are not the stories are not as well as I expected
I feel like this is getting a read and repeat challenge and I don't mean that in a bad way. Another incredible story. Winter is an amazing woman. She takes the bull by the horns and goes for it. I'm a bit worried her handiman/contracted is, I don't know, not all he appears to be. Being at her office door right when she got there - kind of creepy.
This installment throws Winter into unexpected situations that test her adaptability and resilience. I liked the sense of unpredictability and how it pushed her to think on her feet. While some elements felt familiar, it was still an engaging continuation that maintained the momentum of the PI-focused storyline.
This was a excellent story with Winter getting involved with a murder case and going all out to solve it. There was lots of suspense and action and to have read it. Thank you for being a great writer.
A GREAT BOOK THAT IS WELL WRITTEN AND WILL KEEP YOU ENGROSSED TILL THE LAST PAGE. THE STORYLINE IS ORIGINAL WITH PLENTY OF TWISTS AND TURNS TO KEEP YOU TURNING THE PAGES TILL THE END. THE CHARACTERS ARE GREAT AND BECOME YOUR FRIENDS DURING THE BOOK. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?
Who & why is someone trying to frame Mat Schultz? That’s what his lawyer wants to find out which is why he hired Winter. However, no one planned on his clients being electrocuted, one by one. Can Winter catch the “Electrocutioner” before they strike again or will sh end up as one of his victims?
This is a great mystery. I could not put this book down. I love this series. I read all the winter book that have been out. This is a great mystery series . I recommend this book and series.
Some lunatic is eletrocuting people, and the man suspected hires Winter to prove him innocent of those crimes at least. Now, it's up to her to try and find the real Electrocutioner before they strike again. As always, it's a great story, and some of the best characters.
Wow this book was absolutely captivating. I could not put it down. The mystery was so good I struggled to figure out the killer!! The shocking end will leave you on pins and needles. Can’t wait for the next book
I am so glad Winter is back at it. She is a bad ass, and has a special gift to help her along the way. This book is a must read. The whole series is a must ready. Mary Stone did it again.
Another heart racing thriller!! Winter gets a new client that everyone believes is a killer that electrocutes several of his past clients. Winter is convinced he is a scumbag but not a killer. She is trying to figure out who & almost electrocuted herself!
Like the new series Winter is back and fighting crime as a PI. All kind of obstacles in her way as well as family drama, have her fighting her way to survive. Now who is spying on her and her family.
Mary Stones book always keeps me on the edge of my chair. In her books I can image what the characters look like and WI her and Noah are always on the case. I love reading all of Mary Stones books
Winter took on another case in her role as a Private Investigator. She wasn't sure where to start to prove a man was innocent of murdering his clients. She finds lots of leads and lots of trouble!
