This world that we find ourselves in... what is that, exactly?
A constant oscillation of anxiety permeates our life. A life in which we're in a constant hurry to become someone. Every day we run. Even when we are resting, we're just catching our breath until the next sprint. Gotta win, gotta get that juice, gotta get ahead of the competition! And when we reach our goals, we find ourselves still, as confused as ever.
panic spinning wheel and that mindless head glued to the neck checking the horizon for an island nope, just a distant line all around and accompanying it now you hear a sound a constant, never-ending beep.
"The Buzz" is a collection of 50 poems, or, as I like to call them, tales. Divided into four parts, the book takes you through the murky realities of today, down to the underground and back up from it. "The Buzz" is a lens through which we are invited to see a world full of absurdity, wickedness, hope, mysticism, surrealism, drama, and, of course, it is a lens through which we can see our true naked selves.
As much as this book is about the world, it is also about me. It is the most personal thing I have ever done creatively.
here we can be whoever we wanna be. we can speak about the things that seem important to us, finally, without being interrupted. the ether always understands, unlike most people that we meet. here we can dream without limits, and risk being cringy poet wannabes, because there are no risks here, there's only the excitement of possibility. we can speak about that which we were forever ashamed of, no one will find out. because here, we are the true selves that we cannot be in real life. here, nobody from real life can recognize us. until the time comes. but when it does, we will be ready.
There honestly aren't enough words to describe the artistry & honesty expressed throughout. In a time where the collective seems to be searching for more, Black swoops in and offers more than just a book, he offers an experience and invitation to go within & beyond.
If you are looking to dive deep, then get ready to be submerged with substance and sustenance for your soul!!!
A very relatable piece for everyone mixed up in the chaotic rush of modern day, especially the ones working in overly positive/saturated/idealistic office environments. Makes you think if you are really focusing on the right things while at the same time gives you comfort by reassuring you that your feelings are valid.
Dark and drowning with a perfectly hidden pinch of hope. Honestly it took me a while to finish reading it. Sometimes it's so hard to face the truth, especially when all we do is run from it.
Thoroughly enjoyed 'The Buzz' and its profound exploration of life's pressure and suffocation. It was a different kind of lecture for me. The intensity of the content left me contemplating on the pace of today that is seemingly felt by many, not just me.
