Making dinner from scratch can feel like a chore - often half the battle is trying to find something that's quick, nutritious and, most importantly, delicious. But delicious doesn't have to mean demanding.
After their debut book, Sunday Times bestseller It's All About Dinner, Kitchen Sanctuary is back - this time focusing on quick and easy meals, all made in 30 minutes or less!
With chapters such as Champion Chicken; Moreish Meat; Fantastic Fish; Vitally Veggie; Perfect Pasta; Rice, Noodles, Grains and Bread; Snack Suppers; Super Sauces - as well as a section dedicated to Smart Shortcuts containing Nicky's top tips for speeding up dinner - you'll be able to whip up a range of fabulous meals for the whole family, every day of the week, no matter how little time you have.
This is a straightforward recipe book that will appeal to those of you who either have busy, hectic schedules with little time for cooking or those of you who actually don't really want to spend a massive amount of time in the kitchen but would still like to eat something nutritious and homemade . If you fall into either of those two categories then this book will appeal to you. the book is divided up into different sections covering, meat, chicken, fish, pasta, veggies, snacks and a small section on sauces. I personally found the book heavily based around meat and carbs and would have liked to have seen more fresher and lighter vegetable dishes . However, this is just my personal preference and I can definitely see this appealing to families with the one pot meals which could also be batch cooked and frozen if you just cater for yourself.
I have tried out a few of them ; the carbonara was a hit and is a straightforward standard recipe that fits easily into the allocated 30 minutes and was enjoyed by all the family.
I love a cookbook - and with meals ready in 30 mins or less! Sold.
The range of meals is brilliant, I can't believe they'll take under half an hour, but the two I've already tried did (yes I timed it). The ingredients are simple, nothing really bizarre that you either wouldn't already have or couldn't easily find in a supermarket.
It all looks delicious and I love that there's a full page photo of each recipe so you know what should be going on. Also, each page has a QR code you can scan and follow a video for every step - making it so easy for beginners.
I will add, this cookbook is all about dinners, so there's no pudding recipes - but that was actually a plus in my book, as I ignore those most of the time anyway.
Overall, one I would recommend as it's easy, speedy, and above all, tasty!
*I received a complementary copy of the book from RandomThingsTours and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
The new Kitchen Sanctuary Quick and Easy 30 minute dinners book has some delicious family favourite recipes in it which are going to become staples in our house I'm sure.
For me, a weekday recipe needs to be nutritious, delicious and not too time-consuming, so the 30 minute recipes in this book hit the mark perfectly. I liked the lay out and design, the recipes aren't overwhelmingly complicated but the resulting dishes are just delicious! The recipes are grouped into Champion Chicken, Moreish Meat, Fantastic Fish, Vitally Veggie, Perfect Pasta, Rice, Noodles, Grains and Bread, Snack Suppers and Super Sauces so there really is something for everyone.
I particularly enjoyed the creamy mushroom pasta which was a twist on a dish that I've probably made a hundred times before; the family devoured it and would have come back for more if they'd had the chance.
The book is bright, colourful and packed with recipes to try. I have to admit that I have only cooked one of the recipes so far but our adult children have been enjoying trying the recipes so I have eaten many more.
So what do I personally recommend:
Easy orzo with tomato and crispy bacon
One-pan spaghetti and meatballs
Potato and bacon hash with cheesy beans
Honey Lemon Chicken
Black Pepper Chicken
The men in the house who enjoy spicier food also enjoyed:
Sticky Chicken Thighs
Chicken and Chilli sauce traybake
Chicken salsa bake
I’ve reviewed a few recipe books before and found a handful of recipes we’ve enjoyed but this book is packed full of great recipes. Some have taken a little longer to prepare but all cook quickly
Each page had detailed instructions (catering for UK and US) home cooks plus a QR code to watch a video about how to make the recipe.
I could not wait to receive this book, this is my first Kitchen Sanctuary cookbook and I cannot wait to get stuck in. It is divided into sections including chicken dishes, meat and fish but there is also different sauces and snacky suppers. What I really liked too is how simple the dishes are and also Nicky's tips to help you achieve great success. All the recipes look easy to make but also how quick they are too. I cannot wait to make a variety from this book and this will be my kitchen staple from now on.
I've always thought that the Kitchen Sanctuary blog is one of the very best, and the cookbooks themselves are pretty good too. The recipes are clear, easy to follow, straightforward and nicely illustrated. Can recommend the baked lemon fish with feta and the garlic and parmesan chicken linguine.
