Twelve of the most Powerful girls in the Kingdom of Tides are offered to the new king as Tributes. One girl will be chosen as his queen. The others will be cast aside. But Paige doesn't want to be a Tribute. Trapped on an island as winter settles in, desperate to return home, this pageant is nothing short of a nightmare. She sets plans into motion to earn the affection and trust of the king so she can get back to her family. Zephyr does not envy his brother's crown. But he does envy how that crown earns Paige's attention. Content to accept that he will never know love, Zephyr's world is thrown into a tailspin when Paige worms her way into his mind...and his heart. Driven by a need to help her, to protect her, he is thrust down a dark hole of lifelong deception within his own family. Together, they discover dark secrets lurking in the palace. And an even more dangerous one lurking within her. Separated from his sister and eager to find his way to her, Gavin works to establish a political alliance between Elpis and the Haven so he can leave. But when a new friend helps him uncover the truth behind the Haven's religious order, he inadvertently becomes the center of attention. Caught in a dangerous game orchestrated by zealous leaders, Gavin struggles to gain the upper hand…before his Powers are used as a tool against him. Infiltration is the second book in the Powers Legacy series, following the children of Ugene Powers as they forge their own place in the shadow of their father's legacy. A perfect series for fans of Red Queen , The Selection , or The Darkest Minds . The series twists dystopian, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, and fantasy together, adding a dash of superpowers.

Just Wow!

I loved the first book in this series, and this one might be even better. Infiltration takes up where Desolation leaves off, as we follow Paige, Gavin in the new worlds they find themselves in, and Zephyr as he tries to sort out the truth of his own world.

What really stands out to me in this series is how well Davies masters character voice. We have three POVs, all in first person, and never once do I feel like we get bleed from one character voice to another. Each character stands out and has their own set of goals, fears and challenges they must overcome.

Paige's story line stood out the most to me. It gave me a Red Queen/Throne of Glass vibe, so if you enjoyed either of those novels, be sure to pick this up. However, Paige has much more depth to her character, as we had the benefit of getting to know her much more fully in Desolation.

We also get to see Zephyr's side of things in the push / pull of their enemies to lover relationship, which is often missing in YA. We get to see his side of things, and the struggles he faces as he tries to navigate the rules of his kingdom and lies he grew up believing.
So good!

Gavin's story gave us a glimpse into another realm within this world. A separate dystopian community that has done its best to explain the fall of the outside world, but has its own set of secrets. This POV feels more like a classic dystopian novel, then the YA story we follow with Paige and Zephyr, which was an interesting spin, but no less compelling than the other POVs.

These books deserve way more attention than what they are getting. Do not hesitate to pick this series up! You won't regret it!

Infiltration is the second book in the Powers Legacy series by Starr Z. Davies. While it may be the second book in the series it still comes out on top. Infiltration was just as much a blast to read as the first book, Desolation. It starts off with a blast and never lets up from the first page until the last with never a dull moment in between.

Infiltration kept me in suspense hanging on every word. I loved following Gavin, Paige, and Zephyr as their worlds exploded around them. I loved watching Paige and Zephyr's world intertwined in more ways than one. I loved watching as Paige made her way into Zephyr's world and his heart.

Paige was taken against her will to an island where she had to compete against other women to become the next queen. Paige didn’t want to be the next queen but if she ever wanted to get off the island then that is just what she may have to do.

Infiltration was told from the perspectives of Paige, Gavin, and Zephyr. I got to see what was going on from all of their perspectives and enjoyed it tremendously as I love reading stories from different points of view. I like getting the story from more than one person's view.

Meanwhile, Gavin is working hard trying to find a way to help Paige escape or leave the island. He will do whatever he can to see his sister returned safely. But he can’t do it alone so he enlists the help of others. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for Paige, Gavin, Zephyr, and everyone else in the next book Insurrection.

Grab a copy of Infiltration today and join Paige, Gavin, and Zephyr as their worlds are turned upside down.

I stayed up late to finish this to see where the story was going for Paige, Gavin and Zephyr. I liked the three point of views and the author did a great job giving them all their own voice. This is a great YA series for readers who enjoy a slow burn that combines elements of fantasy, science fiction and dystopian. Looking forward to the next release!

Dystopian misadventures continue

Starr Z. Davies certainly puts her heroes through hard times. Gavin is stuck in a dystopian religious state where he is mistaken for the fulfillment of a prophecy - but is he the foretold Desolation (doomed to death) or the one who will deliver the Havenites? And his sister Paige is front and center in the Tribute bride competition, held in the medieval-style Kingdom of Tides, where she has no desire to wed the king responsible for her permanent captivity. Forced marriage into the dysfunctional and all-powerful royal family is the last thing she wants, despite a growing attraction to the despised Prince Zephyr. Zephyr, who drowns his suspicions of treasonous plots, and this bitter despair in alcohol, cannot drink enough to obliterate the attraction got Paige which, if discovered, will cost him his life. There are so many opportunities for the three to fall afoul of the rulers who covet their powers, and to find themselves forever lost to their home and their loved ones. Again and again, they escape death, but fail to deliver themselves from their tormentors. The twists and turns are exciting, terrifying, heartbreaking, and seemingly unending. And again readers are left with smashed hopes for their deliverance. The cliffhanger, in this case, may be a blessing in disguise. At least our heroes live on - to fight another day, endure another challenge, and perhaps to win their freedom min the yet-untold future. Here's hoping... Two dystopias in one!
Paige and Gavin are in separate areas, yet their stories and locations still intertwine. These are two highly intelligent and savvy young adults who continue to use their upbringing and training to help them deal with what life throws at them.

Many scenes in one of the communities brings up the conversations between religion versus science and action versus faith. I’ll admit (in writing) that this is the first time that the phrase “agree to disagree” didn’t raise my hackles. The author used it in such a way that showed respect for both sides rather the erroneous person using it to get out of admitting fault. And that phrase was followed by setting boundaries – by both parties.

Some sage advice from Dad (Ugene):
‘Change happens through action’
‘The only way we can fix the world and truly rebuild is together.’

Next are ‘Insurrection’ (end of June) and ‘Restoration’ (end of July).

4.5/5 ⭐️

Starr Z. Davies does it again! I loved the first powers legacy book but this one takes the story to another level. I loved reading about Paige, Gavin and Zephyr as they try to find out the truth. I loved that we have three POV’s that are all in first person which makes the story so much better, and the way the author writes makes it so easy to be able to change between characters without getting confused on who is who. My favorite storyline has to be Paige’s, I loved reading more about her story. But that doesn’t mean the other two stories are bad, they are just as good and entertaining as Paige’s. This was just an amazing YA book that had the perfect slow burn with the fantasy, science fiction and dystopian aspect’s that will keep your attention until the end. I really cannot wait to read the next book in this amazing series.

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrator Cole Robert Eubanks delivers an award winning performance as Infiltration is the grand sequel to Desolation as Gavin and Paige work to survive within their gilded prisons with always the deepest hope of going home... by gaining it from the inside. So as they play "nice" from Paige demonstrating her unique skills on the various outings in hopes of impressing King Cypress and staying in the Pageant Game. For Gavin, within the underground Haven, obeying the rules that consumes this religious cult becomes his best shot off keeping under their radar. But their plans undermining the places they're trapped in turn sour and become starkly dangerous ( especially for Gavin ) but also for certain people around Gavin and Paige they care about are affected by these events. Everything is changing with the ultimate outcome is still unknown.

An amazing haunting story.

Highly recommended.

This is the second book in the Powers Legacy Series, a sequel to the Powers Series, following the children of Ugene Powers, the Minister and Hero of Elpis. This is a great mystery YA Sci-Fi Dystopian Saga. The story continues where the first book left off. The world building is original, and fascinating. The story is well written, and captivating, filled with drama, and unpredictable twists and turns. The characters are well developed, and intriguing. The story is told from multiple POVs, which is great. There is a lot going on in this installment, and now I am looking forward to listening to Insurrection, the next book in the series, to know what happens next. Cole Robert Eubanks did an outstanding job bringing this story to life. His range of voices is impressive. This audiobook is very pleasant to listen to. #StoryOrigin

Audiobook: I was entertained by the second book in the "Powers Legacy" series. Paige has been forced into a contest against twelve other women. Gavin has his own troubles as his investigation into Haven's religious order caused surprising ramifications. I liked all the twists and turns. I liked the characters, but I'm hoping for more growth in their arcs as the series develops. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Cole Robert Eubanks' narration was fine as he provided different voices for the various characters, but there were times when his cadence was too choppy as if he was trying to force emotions rather than feel them. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

🏰💀 A GOOD SEQUEL

Ugene was thinking of his children.
If Gavin had met his expectations, Paige had surpassed herself in the tests.
Never Ugene would have thought that she would have such good results.

But the Kingdom demanded its price: girls like Paige and boys like Gavin...

-------------------------

A good sequel for this dark post apocalyptic dystopia in which the different characters try to improve their living conditions.

Paige will by far be my favorite character.

Suspense, the unexpected, shenanigans in this unpredictable sequel to discover for fans of the genre and the series.

Infiltration(Powers Legacy #2) by Starr Z Davies is part of dystopian series that I am enjoying and recommend. Twelve of the most Powerful girls in the Kingdom of Tides are offered to the new king as Tributes. One girl will be chosen as queen. The others will be cast aside. Paige doesn't want to be a Tribute and plans on getting back to her family. Gavin has been separated from his sister and wants to fnd her and both of them go home, hopefully with an alliance between Elpis and the Haven. Zephyr, the kings brother, is thrown into a tailspin and is thrust down a dark hole of lifelong deception within his own family.

This dystopian world is an adventure to read. It is incredible how remote and isolated societies develop such drastically different laws and customs. I enjoyed seeing Gavin and Paige navigate the reality of being trapped where they don't belong. They are strong and powerful in their own unique ways and use them to infiltrate the societies that hold them hostage. I can not wait to see them, and Zephyr, bring down the world and people who keep them chained. Bring on the next part of the story!

This book improved on the first. The pace was kept up alongside the mystery and plot twists. The characters grew and changed but still stayed true to what we first learnt of them. The potential for soo much is in all of these characters and the author is really working well to get the most from them with a great plot line. Highly recommend.

This series just keeps getting better! Paige is on a “mission” (of sorts) of her own, she’s stuck on an island competing (unwillingly) to be the new queen. Who would want to marry their captor? No way, the King must be crazy to put anyone in that situation! Meanwhile Gavin is trying to find a way to get her back! Again, it was really fun to read another book from this author, Starr is amazing!

Way more addicting than the first storyline, I want to know what’s going to happen next? I can’t seem to put the audiobook on pause too long. The narrator is still doing an amazing job like he did in the first installment by keeping the characters separate. I want to know what happens next. It still has my attention.

This story had me hooked! I really enjoyed the "bachelor"/The Selection vibes in this book. I need more of Gavin and Drake, their relationship is one of my favorite subplots, for sure! I'm eager to find out what happens next, especially regarding Zephyr ...and Easton ...and Paige! On to book three!
