Legitimate work-from-anywhere options that offer both unlimited income potential and time freedom-without going back to school, borrowing money to start a business, or working half a decade before turning a profit-are hard to find. But if you're willing to learn a simple skill that's in high demand, you could become "Keyboard Rich."
Bill Von Fumetti is Keyboard Rich, and he did it with no prior experience or degree. He went from barely being able to pay his rent to earning multiple 6 figures per year.
Once he discovered the new virtual model of bookkeeping, which doesn't involve boring data entry, being a math whiz, or worrying about making mistakes, he built his own six-figure bookkeeping business. Then Bill set out to teach others to do the same.
The best part is ... anyone can learn how to do it. All you need is a computer, a free QuickBooks account, and a clear roadmap. With this book as your guide, you can start living your dream life now.
This quick read really lays out how very possible it is to get going. I loved that the author laid out those pesky things that we put in our own way and it is easy to see just how attainable a bookkeeping business can be, if we just get out of our own way. For some reason, seeing those obstacles presented, they seem as small as they really are. Here we go, I can do this!
I love how honest and to-the-point this book is. Although I'm currently finishing up his Booming Bookkeeping lessons, he convinced me that I am making the right decisions pursuing this field. I was worried about "will I be good enough?', but not anymore. After reading the chapter on avoiding mistakes, I feel like after the series, I'll be more than ready to start my new career as a bookkeeper.
I like this book. It’s straight forward and aligns with the content of the 5 day challenge. It’s helped me to both listen and read the book to reinforce my learning. It’s also a quick read that can be kept as a reference for later.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in starting their own bookkeeping career.
Hmmm, which way do I go with this review? Do I review just the book or the 5-day challenge? For the past two weeks, this book has popped up in all my social media feeds. I thought, what is the Universe trying to tell me? So, I purchased the Kindle edition for $0.99. The author is also giving away free copies on his website, but you must pay $7.95 for shipping. Wink, wink, order from Kindle books. Okay on with the review. Keyboard Rich, How Anyone Can Earn Six Figures from Home with A Simple Bookkeeping Business by Bill Von Fumetti is a marketing solicitation book. As a reader, if you are looking for a step-by-step guide on how to run a successful bookkeeping business, unfortunately, you will not get that knowledge from this book. I must give this book two stars because it lives up to its title. This book includes stories and testimonials from a small select few who have taken Bill Von Fumetti’s mentorship program and earned from $25K to $100K from their booking businesses. The author is a master of telling his story and the story of his mentees in such a way that as a reader you are drawn in. The book goes on story after story then suddenly at the 60% mark, he gives three questions to ask prospective bookkeeping clients. Then at the 64% mark, he gives two examples of how to market and get potential clients. As I stated, this book is for solicitation purposes only. Throughout the book, there are links to watch videos on the Keyboard Rich website and to sell you on signing up for his Booming Bookkeeping 5-day challenge or mentoring program. “The most important and powerful principle to keep in mind is that we have control over changing the direction of our lives.” The one quote from the book that I know to be true. But what I also know is you must put in the work. It’s not going to come as easy as sitting on the beach with your significant other, as Bill will have you believe. I said I was not going to go there in this book review, but I am feeling some kind of way about Booming Bookkeeping. Do you call Bill Von Fumetti a marketing genius, predator, or scammer? You decide. The order is book (free shipping), 5-day challenge ($49) 5-day VIP sessions ($49) then mentorship program ($5K). Talk about gaslighting and building people up. I wish Bill Von Fumetti would have been transparent in his book and with the people who have signed up for his 5-day challenge. It broke my heart to read the reviews of people who were disappointed they did not have the $5K to continue with the mentorship program. Some shared that coming up with the $100 was difficult and they feel all is lost because they cannot continue. I read comments about borrowing and applying for a Chase interest-free credit card for the $5K. Someone asked if they could split the payment over two or three credit cards. Do you think Bill told them all is not lost and to continue? No, in a round and-about way Bill told them they would not make it without his program. Please do not go into debt for a coaching program. Do not go into debt on a coaching program and you do not know the success rate. Yeah, Bill claims to have helped 8,000 people. But what is Booming Bookkeeping success percentage, 20% 30% etc.? Step out on yourself and faith to achieve your goals. You will be surprised what other resources are out there.
Seeing the title of the book makes me think about an IT job. You have to have experience or there will be lawsuits coming! I'm an Accountant by trade and before I read this book, I thought you definitely needed experience. How can you account for the client's business if you don't know debits must equal credits?
Bill Fumetti covers facets of bookkeeping AND starting your new bookkeeping business. He addresses fear to marketing to landing that first client to the actual work to be done. He even offers hidden features as a break in reading but also keeps the reader engaged in topics covered.
Keyboard Rich includes testimonials from all walks of life who have been VERY successful in the bookkeeping business. It also has quotes from Stephen King to Ben Franklin! It has constant positivity throughout needed by anyone starting a new venture!
I could say more but you need to read it for yourself!
Prior to reading this book QuickBooks and bookkeeping in general always felt like a black box. I left that mystery to the accountants and CPAs.
However, after reading Keyboard Rich I feel much more informed and have even created a QuickBooks account and started some of the training. I'm unsure how far I'll take it at this point, but I now have a great sense of the landscape and possibilities.
Within this book the author offers many substantial training videos and free resources and an introduction to his mentorship program should you desire to go on a guided journey of creating a bookkeeping business.
Even if you're not interested in creating a bookkeeping business, this is a great book to broaden your knowledge with a small time commitment.
It's a very quick and easy read, and above all approachable, especially for a financial book.
I bought the e-book from Amazon because I'm exploring post-retirement options and it was only $.99, so what the heck. It's not actually a handbook about the fine points of setting up a real business, more like a lengthy motivational event-in-print that leads to offers. The bit.ly address didn't take me to the page pictured in the video that purportedly offered a free version of Quickbooks Online. I was puzzled by the number of glowing reviews on Amazon, some of which were so slickly written that I wondered if they were done by PR people. I'm sure there are plenty of freelance bookkeepers making a decent living but as with any other occupation the place to start would be an actual QB course (LinkedIn Learning has several) and a business startup handbook.
The first part reads like an infomercial, but when he really gets into the book, there is a lot of great information! I learned a lot & I look forward to implementing the things I’ve learned. I rated it 4 stars because the first couple chapters just seemed like it was just bait to get someone to buy a product, but that wasn’t the case at all. After all of that, he really laid it out how to make & grow your business. Would definitely recommend to people interested in starting a bookkeeping business.
Ok for basic tricks of the trade - not a how to bookkeeping book
If you are thinking this book will give you information on how to be a bookkeeper, you would be wrong. Although it was filled with tools he used to grow his practice - it was basically a book of stories about how he and other people became successful using Quickbooks.
It didn't show now to price clients or how to manage / budget your time as a bookkeeper. It was more of a motivational "you can do it" than a reference
Engaging, quick read, good story teller of his experience and others. Somewhat of a step-by-step guide on how to run a successful bookkeeping business. Not complete knowledge from this book but covers bookkeeping and starting your new bookkeeping business. There is a lot of great information. Somewhat like a sales pitch for his bookkeeping training class. Addressed fears of marketing and landing that first client. I learned a lot and looking forward to implementing the things this book taught.
I have been looking non-stop for good business models that can be maintained while still working full time. I've found many get rich quick schemes. This definitely doesn't come across that way. You're still going to have to work. But there's reward. The intro had me hooked and I researched this entire book in about 2 hours. It's an exciting read and grants you a glimpse into what could be possible.
This book ultimately serves as nothing more than a bulky business card for its author, rather than a genuine resource for aspiring bookkeepers. The trend of writing books to establish credibility with potential clients or customers may have worked decades ago, and perhaps some recipients still fall for the aura of expertise it creates—provided they never actually read the book.
Hands down the best training ever to get you on the path to financial freedom. Following Bill’s steps, procedures and methods will ensure success. Bill’s approach is genuine and honest. He lays out everything you need to know to succeed. I always tell everyone if I can do this, anyone can do this by following Bill and his procedures.
This is a great read for those wanting to get started in the profession of bookkeeping. This book gives clear understanding of what bookkeeping is and easy to use steps to have a successful bookkeeping business in short period of time.
There is stories and inspiration to cheer you on if you are new to bookkeeping as a way to create more income in your life. There are bonus videos in the book whit are worth watching. The most helpful section for me is on setting your pro advisor profiles.
Great information and gives access to his online videos
I find this book to be very informative and generous. The amount of information given can definitely help anyone start their online bookkeeping business! I can't wait to get started and start watching the videos he included in his book! Thank you!
Really enjoyable read for anyone interested in bookkeeping. Lots of resources to gain more information on how to make money by bookkeeping for companies. Very inspired to start my new journey with my husband at my side. Time to build a better way of life to make money for the future.
Bill did a phenomenal job sharing practical, no-nonsense steps to launch a $100,000 bookkeeping business. I read it in under an hour and was blown away by the wisdom, stories, and actionable insights throughout. Truly a valuable resource—I’m excited to read it again tomorrow.

I decided months ago that I wanted to try bookkeeping as a new career path… and let fear keep me from making it happen. Bill’s book just showed me that I don’t need to be afraid of failure. Thank you!
This was a very easy read and full of beneficial information. He keeps you pulled in and pumps you full of confidence, all while teaching you everything you need to know! It's definitely a must-read!!
Bill’s book helped me to start plotting out a plan to building my bookkeeping business. I was kinda learning as I go but this book gave me a great launchpad on how to acquire clients. Thanks Bill.
Bill basically wrote a book about himself, including some “almost” helpful information about how to set up a Quickbooks bookkeeping business. All his tips he shares are available for free online, and through Quickbooks software.
I’ve read through this book three times now. It is very well-written and the content is quite believable. Either this guy really believes all he touts about bookkeeping, or he’s the best snake-oil salesman I’ve ever encountered.
I've been out of my field as an accountant for a few years and will definitely follow his advice. Easy to read straight to the point I strongly recommend this book to anyone. Thanks for putting this information together
I liked that there were videos to watch that went further in explanation showing how Quickbooks works, with entering the information. I am certain there is a lot more to learn about getting and selecting clients, etc. A very easy read.
I need a change, and learning bookkeeping has always been at the back of my mind. I intend to learn this skill and apply it. I've obtained difficult licenses, adding value to my business clients is my goal!
This book provides a comprehensive guide to starting a bookkeeping business. After reading it, I am confident that following the advice could lead to a successful career.
