Wild Hunt #4

The Vicious Fae's Love

Rate this book
I ran from one hot fae guy who wasn't interested in me… and ended up in the arms of another.

We're just friends, though, me and Remmo.

Just. Friends.

Never mind the way he smells.

Or the sparks that fly between us--literally.

He's showing me around Vevol while I get over my heartbreak, and then we'll go back to our friends and break the temporary mate bond we've created.

At least, that's my plan.

But then we make it back to our friends.

…and everything changes.

I loved this book because of Remmo, I absolutely adored that guy, but I also didn’t like this book much because of Sunny and the writing style. The chemistry between the characters, the banter, the sarcasm and the witty comebacks were incredibly entertaining, but the writing style was really simple and juvenile whilst Sunny the FMC just didn’t make sense to me quite a few times. I couldn’t understand her.

As I’ve said, I adored, loved, grew obsessed with Remmo. I adore characters who are calm and collected, those who even when upset show it via a quiet, calm anger rather than throwing a temper tantrum. I just loved that. As an Unseelie Fae, Remmo was known for his self-control, his passion for knowledge and thirst for understanding everything around him. He was absolutely perfect and not because he was perfect as a character, but because he was perfect with his flaws. He struggled to communicate his feelings, needs and wants properly with a female, especially one who had some very heavy trauma. But he understood where he was lacking, and he worked on it. The sacrifices he had made just to see Sunny happy was absolutely heart-breaking and those heart-wrenching emotions that he experienced come through in the writing.

Sunny aka Summer… I didn’t like her much at the beginning. Later on, she started to grow on me, but she still didn’t end up being one of my favourites. I understood that she had some serious trauma where she found herself in a life-threatening situation, so her physical reactions made complete sense and I would never invalidate someone’s responses to trauma. However, her logic I couldn’t understand. In her inner monologues, she repeatedly mentioned how good Remmo was, how caring, attentive and supporting he was. How he tried to make sure that she didn’t need him, that she was strong and independent on her own, that she knew he was nothing like her @bus!ve exes who never really cared about her other than trying to bring her down. So why then a few pages later did she compare those a-holes to Remmo who, according to her own inner monologues, was the absolute opposite. And why was she so angry that Remmo had a past before her. That he had a damn job amongst the Unseelie. It’s not like he was a monster or a serial unaliver. He had a pretty cool job, if you ask me. What was the logic behind her anger? Even after the inner monologues in which I sort of got some answers, her logic didn’t make sense to me. It felt like Remmo did a lot for her, but she didn't have the ability to interpret it. But at the same time, a few pages earlier, she did have the ability to interpret it. She seemed very inconsistent in her inner monologues.

The romance started off a bit strangely. On their very first meeting, Sunny’s thoughts, where she emphasised that she should have been careful completely went against her actions in which she spilled all her thoughts and secrets to a complete stranger. It just didn’t match, it was very inconsistent. It also felt quite fast paced as they were kissing on their first meeting, got naked in front of each other after a few days and were having spicy time a couple of days later. It was too fast. So I did appreciate that it slowed down halfway through the book, maybe even before, because it gave them, or rather Sunny, time to process what was happening. The chemistry was brilliant between them, I adore witty, sarcastic couples and there was non-stop banter, so it kept them intriguing and didn’t dull the couple. So, I did love their dynamic, I just wished the beginning of their relationship was a bit more thought out or rather had a bit more depth.

The writing style is a constant issue for me. It has been very simple from the very first book, but the last book felt like an improvement. However, this book has turned back to a more juvenile writing style again. I understand that each book’s narrative is different to show the differences between characters, but I can’t stand all the slang such a “cool chick”, one that personally really bothered me. I don’t like these expressions in real life, let alone in fantasy. Also, Sunny kept referring to her hair as “puffs” or something and I couldn’t understand how Remmo knew the meaning of “puffs” whilst apparently the magical fae translation they all had couldn’t translate the word “ghost” to them. Maybe I am picking on trivial things, but these illogical parts quite bothered me. Lastly, we learned Dots real name, Dakota and when Sunny forgot to say Dakota and instead said Dots, because obviously that’s what she was used to, she always said, “Dots—dammit, Dakota”. The amount of times this sentence was used is baffling. We get it. She is called Dakota. Her name isn’t “Dots—dammit, Dakota”. Just Dakota. Relax.

Overall, the writing style and Sunny bothered me a lot. The writing style got worse again, way more simple and filled with slang, while Sunny felt very inconsistent. It was Remmo who saved the story for me, and I guess the chemistry that he had with Sunny, because those witty comebacks and sarcastic remarks were the absolute best. Which is why The Vicious Fae’s Love got 3/5 stars.

Ratings of the other books in the series:

The Wild Hunt: The Complete Series 2/5 stars

The Savage Fae's Mate 3/5 stars
The Feral Fae's Human 3/5 stars
The Brutal Fae's Life 3/5 stars

Now, let's start book 4, The Vicious Fae's Love. I do not know what to expect, except I am hoping for no cussing and cursing. I just want Sunny to get her happy ending. That girl, the sunshine character, must have gone through some sh!t because no-one is that happy-go-lucky without some darkness in their past to balance it out.

Page 516
It’s a bit faster paced than I’d like. Sunny is spilling all her thoughts to a stranger, and she is way too open and reckless. The writing, the narrative itself changed to a more juvenile style again and I’m not a fan. But I’m glad we finally have an Unseelie fae in the picture though, we needed a little change.

Page 575
I don't understand Sunny. I understand her trauma and her reactions, but I do not understand her logic. She said that in her past she's always been drawn to the bad boys she chased and when she finally got them, they @bus3d her. In her inner monologues she explains that Remmo is nothing like them, he always makes sure that she trust him and has a way out, teaching her how to be strong and independent.

So, why as soon as they are back, she treats him like he is one of those @bus!ve a-holes she was with? She was with him for weeks, like a month or something, and now she is angry because he had a past? Not even a creepy one, he simply had a past like anyone else. What is going through her head? So far I don't get her.

Page 603
I like Remmo. The emotional rollercoaster he went through for Sunny... he so smitten. And I like that rather than being absolutely feral and brutal, like the other fae, he has a quiet anger, one that's under the surface. He is intriguing.

Page 659
Lmao, I absolutely adore the witty comebacks and sarcastic remarks. I adore Remmo the most out of all the male fae so far, and I just love the connection he has with Sunny. Sunny is not a favourite of mine, but she is growing on me too.

Page 670
After finishing the 4th book, The Vicious Fae's Love, I have to say Remmo is the best male main character so far in the series. I absolutely adored him. He was perfect. Not perfect because he didn't have flaws. He was perfect even with his flaws. I know I said I adored Calian before, but he didn't have flaws at least in my eyes and I didn't like that aspect of him. Remmo on the other hand was perfect with his flaws.

Sunny though, she grew on me later on, but I wasn't a big fan of hers. I understood her reactions, but I couldn't understand her logic. The physical reactions made sense, her trauma response was valid, I'd never say otherwise. But the fact that she thought of something in her inner monologues only to dispute it with a fact that wasn't a fact but an opinion with no basis made me so confused.

The writing became a bit juvenile again. I understand each books' narrative changes because it's a way to show different characters, but I do not like this manner of speaking. It cheapens the story. Some of the expressions such as "cool chick" just didn't fit into the story even though they were humans once. I know I'm being picky here, but even irl conversations I do not like these phrases let alone in fantasy.

Romantasy / Compañeros predestinados

Sunny y Remmo.

I received an ARC for this book. Sunny's book is not what I expected. She found her fated mate after getting ran over by Teris so many times. She has so many demons in her past. She has such a big heart and is scared. Remmo was the perfect mate for Sunny. I loved their personalities and chemistry. They were definitely made for each other.

This book took me longer than I had expected it to, and I even skipped at least 50 pages. I read until they got to the lake and then I skipped ahead until they went back to everyone else. I wasn’t a total fan of Remmo being the love interest, that’s why I skipped the part where they were completely alone. It kinda threw me off tbh, I didn’t like that the Wild Hunt guys didn’t get with the 5 girls from the first book. 3 of them did, and so I thought the remaining 2 would. Once I let that bit go, I could admit that it was a decent book. I wish we had seen even one chapter of Teris’ pov and him letting go of their bond, even when he didn’t want her he followed her and was clearly upset at first. Anyway I liked Remmo overall and I wish we were told Summer’s story. I fully support Dot and Aev too, so I liked the epilogue.

The Vicious Fae's Love is the fourth book in Lola Glass's Wild Hunt series. The Seelie have had their time now it's the Unseelie's turn.

Sunny is a mess. At first glance, she seems bold with a good sense of humor but Sunny is scared to take an emotional risk. Sunny is an abuse survivor but due to the trauma, she doesn't know how to handle romantic relationships. I hate to say it but Sunny annoyed me and left me hovering in the middle, I didn't like her but I didn't hate her either. I can understand some of it but then she went too far. Using any excuse to be angry at Romme, playing games, and doing roundabouts that don't make sense. I'm just glad that she was able to figure her stuff out by the end.

Romme is nothing like I thought the Unseelie would be. They were painted in such a negative light but they're really just misunderstood. Neither Seelie nor Unseelie are bad, just different. I loved Romme, he was patient, kind, thoughtful, caring, respectful, and had a sense of humor. Romme took the time to get to know Sunny, took the time to teach her new things, and was completely understanding of her quirks. Romme was pretty much the dream guy.

This story felt a little different and I enjoyed it. Sunny and Rome started off building a friendship. Sunny and Romme took a vacation from the Stronghold and went around exploring unknown places, having bonding moments (even if that meant jumping into freezing cold water), and more. Romme took the time to teach Sunny, he enjoyed seeing her learn and accomplish new things. In that same time frame, Sunny started opening up to Romme, things also got super steamy. Somehow Romme and Sunny fit. It has to be their shared sense of humor.

The Unseelie have finally had a successful couple. Yes, there were a lot of ups and downs in The Vicious Fae's Love but it was worth it. Sunny has finally found a matter that cherishes everything about her. Remmo is everything that Sunny needs and more, they're a good fit for each other. Lola left readers with a shocking epilogue that revealed the next couple and introduced a whole new set of problems for the fae. I'm really looking forward to reading Dots' story next.

The flow of this book was BUTTERY smooth, I loved everything about it. The choice to switch from teris to remmo was refreshing and it was truly the best choice for sunny. Her past is a hefty one and I think remmo’s cool and restrained way of delivering emotions was exactly what she needed and teris felt too explosive a match for her. The way this man SPOKE, his dialogue was honestly panty-melting, the words of affirmation, the physical touch, it was all so beautiful and i was OBSESSED with this couples dynamic. The plot of this series is honestly so riveting, it’s new and constantly developing but it doesn’t feel rushed or impulsive. There’s a well matched mix of plot and romance and none of it is overwhelming.
I do think I got to understand the unseelie best in this book because their role was a bit confusing to me initially but I’m excited to see how the unseelie king and dots-Dakota develop because I was NOT expecting that. I have to say I’m a little worried about the angst that’s going to have because it’s about to be HEFTY, and I’m gearing up for it but I’m so excited for what comes next.
And side note: something about Lola’s authors notes at the end of every book she writes is so genuine and heartfelt, I love reading them and I think I understand and enjoy her writing style more because you’re being given a glimpse of the author behind the book and not a facade or filtered version of one.

Once again, to sum it up I could just write - I so loved this book! Terris just can't make up his mind, he wants someone who loves him to be his mate, but pushes Sunny away repeatedly so she doesn't really have a chance to get to know him and fall in love. Sunny is done with accepting his hurtfull behavior and decides to find some peace alone, she had enough hurt in her life considering her abusive past. The perfect opportunity for Remmo to enter the game by helping Sunny to get away from it all to try and find her peace. So, we get to enjoy a really good written, steamy story about two mates who finally find their way to each other. But which two will it be?

A beautiful story, very well writen, great storyflow, plenty of steamy scenes and a heart melting happy end. Including a mean cliffhanger about the next unexpected couple... ❤️

I loved it!

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This series has six books. Each book in this series is steamy connected standalones with humor and follows a different couple with their own happily ever after, and the stories can be read in any order (but recommended to read them in order for best understanding). This is the fourth standalone book in the Wild Hunt series. This a story about a woman named Summer (Sunny), who is turned into a fae and the type she becomes is a basilisk, and a male basilisk fae named Remmo (Vuvim) who used to be the basilisk general. She ran from one hot fae guy who wasn't interested in her and ended up in the arms of another. They’re just friends, though, her and Remmo, never mind the way he smells, or the sparks that literally fly between them. He's showing her around Vevol while she gets over her heartbreak, and then they'll go back to their friends and break the temporary mate bond they’ve created. At least, that's her plan, but then they make it back to their friends and everything changes. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I can’t wait to read the next story in the series. I highly recommend to everyone.

Sunny is upset that Teris, who is her semi mate- who is a sabretooth Fae, refuses to fully mate her. So she turns into her basilisk and leaves the party. She meets that largest basilisk male ever- he is Remmo and he is Unseelie Fae. Although he has left them and has become Seelie now. She decides that the only way to get away from Teris who will feel obligated to follow her- that she must start the mating cycle with Remmo- who gives her little shocks when they touch, who smells wonderful and whom she immediately trusts. So she kisses him. He takes her to the healing lake as she asks, but it doesn’t help. They go on an adventure together and get closer. There are a lot of reveals in the book.

It is funny, romantic, a little scary in a couple of spots. After being gone for a month or so, they return and Teris and Remmo attack each other. Sunny is very upset and freezes. Misunderstandings occur but get resolved and the book is so awesome and I can’t wait for Dotts book. I was shocked at the end of the book. I still get chills when I think about it. Lol.

This was my favorite book so far. From the very beginning of this series where the humans started fake mating’s with the unseelie Fae till now, Sunny has been an important character waiting in the wings for her story!! Because of the way Teri’s treated her she took matters into her own hands to end the mating. While on this impossible mission she meets Remmo. He started as her friend, but became so much more to her over time. This is the best way to start a real relationship. Watching them go from friends to lovers over an extended period of time allowed the bond as well as Sunny to become very strong!! Sunny had a lot of time to know the other Seelie and Unseelie men and because of this became a very respected member of the community. When she finally realizes she has fallen in love with Remmo, and then gets to punch Teris as part of her training, she finally realizes how strong she really is. Add to that the foreshadowing of what is to come in the next book or books and this book is the best so far!!.

Sunny has not exactly had the best experience. She has put up something of a wall towards most of the others but now it seems to slowly be coming down. Her relationship with Remmo is one of the sweetest so far. He is exactly who she should be with. Thankfully Remmo is apparently not like many of the other males. He wants to be clear about any action that he takes and goes out of his way to communicate with her. He takes the time to get to know her, her likes and needs and takes her to see the beauties that Vevol has to offer. Finding out more about the world and what is happening in it is wonderful. This is a series though that does have progression from book to book. Although each book does center on the couple there is a lot in the background that you would miss if you jumped in now. Little subtleties that along with the evocative writing just make these books. I cannot wait for the next one.

Sunny did not have a happy life on Earth. Unlike a lot of the other women, her life changed for the better when she became a fae
The only difficulty was that Teris did not accept their mate bond. Sunny makes a decision and decided to do what is best for her. She is finally ready to move on. She then meets Remmo and she has to decide on what direction she will take her life.
I like this book because Sunny has overcome so many personal battles to grow and flourish as an individual. Remmo is the perfect foil as he is soooo patient, caring and gentle with her.
Not only do you get a great story but the main story arc really heats up and you get more background about what is going to hit in the next book and let me tell you that things are really about to hit the fan.
This book is a great and heartfelt story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Good lord, there is just something that Lola must put into all her books that has me constantly running to grab the next.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book follows the story of Remmo & Sunny's journey. All throughout the book, you are constantly left wondering why things have ended up the way they do, and finally, in the end, you are given an answer.

Left on the edges of our seats and with a fantastic epilogue with an outrageous cliffhanger, Sunny and Remmo's love story will surely be one to beat.

The character development of Sunny throughout this book is astounding. To top it off with the calm and collected manner of Remmo, their love story is one for a quick read that will surely bring warmth to your heart.

Sunny had hoped she’d found her mate with Teris but he’s been cold towards her so she decides to heal and recover. She finds though that Remmo, an Unseelie, has followed her and wants to help her get over Teris.

I absolutely loved their story, the friendship and chemistry as Remmo shows her new parts of Vevol and helps her to train and become stronger; while also getting to know her himself. There are some really funny and cute lines in this and it was lovely to see the family unit of the Unseelies and how it’s different to the Wildness of the Seelies.

Can’t wait now to find out about Dots and Aev’s story in next in this series.

This series has been one of my favorites. As someone who wished on every star and penny and eyelash, books like these remind me that no matter what has and will happen, you deserve and can find a partner who will love and respect you. And that it’s ok to have scars, on the outside and inside. None of the wishes worked for me, but as someone who became their own hero, this series has been really healing for me.
This book got me more excited about future books (I am begging for a male/male or female/female mate book). Thank you Lola Glass for reminding me that being a survivor is beautiful and powerful and to accept no less than respect and love from the people in my life.

Cheerleader

XXX! Adult content, reader discretion advised. Sunny (aka Summer) is like the camp cheerleader. She is friendly, outgoing and always encouraging others. She has a major aversion to violence. Otherwise, she is game for anything AND is self aware of her impulsive nature. The very nature that lead her I yo a fake mating bond. Remmo was as buttoned up and controlled as they come. He was the opposite of Summer in every way. He found himself drawn to his cheerleader despite the beginning of a mate bind. After Summer is rejected one too many times she takes off to get over the rejection. Remmo wasted no time slidding into Tears' place.

delightful, steamy romantasy

I have been simply loving this series.

Quick, steamy reads. Well written, quick page turners.

Stories themselves wrap up with sweet, fun, delightful and satisfying HEA. The epilogues have little lead ins to the next couple, with teensy bit of a cliff.

Lola Glass is a wonderful writer, fun characters, humor, plots that maintain your attention(within each book’s arc and the overarching plot of the series from book) good character development, steamy, feels, wonderful back stories, and more,

Good for a quick romantasy fix.

I was super excited for this book and it didn't disappoint. I find that the books I like best from Lola are the ones she says flows out of her.
I loved Summer and Remmo. I loved that Remmo turned out to be who he was. I will say I feel like the use of "heartbreak" was a bit heavy handed, since she never actually loved Teris. Remmo was the perfect ooey gooey cinnamon roll, with a tough shell.

I am BEYOND excited for the next book and the turn of events with Dots! I am very much enjoying this series with the recent twist.

This is book 3 in a series set in Vevol, start at the beginning as the wider story develops through the stories as each character finds their mate.

Can Sunny get past the part bond that she has with Terris? Is there anyone she can trust? So much good stuff in this book, I love how patient and generous her man is with her and Dot's story sounds set to be even steamier!!! Lola Glass has such a talent for spinning stories with awesome characters and this one is no different!

This was a great read. I really do enjoy this series, Sunny and Remmo are a lovely couple, especially with everything Sunny has been through, Renmo is patient and caring, this could possibly be read as a stand-alone as each couple is different, but I do feel you’d miss out on details, as each book has details and information that is built on and you would be a bit lost I think, but start with book one and enjoy them all.

I needed something light to read and this series seems to be it. I wouldn't class it as great, but it is decent and has kept me curious about the rest of the characters. Enough to somehow find myself on the sixth book as I write this review based on books 2-5. Would I read it again? Probably not. But even so, I will still likely read some of this author's other books. Just because I can't seem to look away even though I don't think it is the best writing. It is still absorbing my attention. So, take that as you will, give it a shot and see if it is your cup of tea.

FYI: Sunny and Remmo’s story.

I realised I gave this a 4 star rating last night because of how the MMC was written.

I wish I had done a review last night while the story was still fresh. I did however like that the MMC is nowhere near as wild as the first 3 MMCs of the story. So far I’m rating this MMC top 1 out of all the MMCs in this series.

I also love how the MMC was made to have almost the same personality as the FMC and how the FMC took charge in walking away from who we thought she’d end up as per the previous books. That was a nice twist by the author, I enjoyed it a lot.

These books have been slowly improving, but the author still tends to write most of the FMCs the same way. I did enjoy that the MMC in this book felt different and actually allowed the FMC to choose her own path. That said, I was completely confused by this FMC. Her reasons for being angry with the MMC made no sense at all, and her hesitation to mate felt inconsistent, especially considering what we know about her relationship with the previous MMC. Overall, her motives just felt odd and hard to follow.

SERIES REVIEW: It started off slow for me … there was something about book 1 that I didn’t love. But then as the story progressed I loved it. Each couple has a unique twist. I loved Book 3 the most until Book 4… now that was in my favorite!

Favorite book of the series and it made me really excited for Dot’s book! There was something about Sunny that was so real and approachable! I only wish we got to hear more of her earth story.

So I love this series. I did like this book but felt a little drag. This one’s background did not strongly connect to her actions just a bit. Her realizations and insecurities were borderline annoying. Not enough to hate but just a little repetitive. How Lola keeps the series changing is good. A new angle on the love story made this one interesting.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
