Miranda Jessup Buckley loses her job at The Little Eagle Gas and Go, gets dumped and is left with a child who isn't hers. But that isn't the worst of her problems. An old friend, Missy, is coming around to rekindle a friendship. Miranda thinks that Missy is a cold blooded killer. Never one to shy away from confrontation, Miranda is determined to prove to the rest of the world that rich girl Missy Toblerone is not as innocent as she proclaims. Add to the mix a hippie neighbor, who wants to retrieve the body of his long lost great uncle from the bottom of Haynes Pond. But that's when things go awry. While waiting on shore for her neighbor, Aaron and her thirteen year-old roommate, Waylon, to come up from the dirty lake waters, Miranda stumbles across a body. And she knows the victim. She had just threatened him with scissors two days prior. Now he is dead. Every time she turns around, something makes her appear more guilty. But who could be setting her up?
Miranda Chronicles is a fast-paced, engaging and riveting women's sleuth mystery and intrigue book that will take you on a rollercoaster ride of humour, suspense, and compelling situations.
We follow our main character Miranda Jessup Buckley whose life took a complete U turn when she all at once loses her job, gets ditched in a already problematic relationship and has a child to support when the absolute funny thing is that child, Waylon isn't even hers. Everything goes down hill or so she thought.
Then enters Missy Toblerone, a rich girl allegedly accused of killing her husband. But everyone believes that she is all nice. Miranda makes it her mission to prove otherwise.
And during all this chaos, something was brewing for her, Aaron Earl, her neighbour has a strange goal of retrieving the body of long lost great uncle from the bottom of Haynes Pond. And now while the deed of finding the body is being done, she comes across another body and all hell breaks loose.
As the story progresses, it becomes apparent that someone is deliberately setting her up for a crime that she has no hand in.
What an intriguing story this was! I applaud the author's writing style and creativity to curate such a thrilling and immensely captivating story. The characters are well-written and they have a personality that doesn't get tangled up. I began reading this over the weekend and it was too exciting, the navigation through twists and turns, the suspense and surprises and lets not forget the humour clad enticing dialogues, it was an absolute riot! I loved it. There is a part in the story where one of the characters comments "Miss Hottie" and the other says "Miss Hottie's been gone for a few years. The best I could do is Miss Lukewarm." That was so hilarious!
All I can say is the story has an impeccably addictive and excellent pacing and one cannot stop themselves from reading the entire book in a single sitting. Because that's exactly what I did. The author's writing will introduce you to several unpredictable twists and the conclusion will surprise you. A masterfully crafted and well thought plot that is unique and interesting.
I'd highly recommend this book to all those readers who are enthusiastic about unsolved cases getting solved but with a blend of unforeseen twists and turns that you won't see coming. Fantastic plot and memorable characters, this was a 5 read from the very start.
