DMV License Manual - An official, original, unabridged Driver Handbook, current in 2023. Printed in full size (7'' x 10").
The primary purpose of this
1) help you qualify for a driver's license, and 2) help you become a safer driver.
This manual attempts to provide a general familiarity with the principles of safe and lawful operation of a motor vehicle. The manual’s contents are not a precise statement of the Connecticut General Statutes pertaining to the operation of a motor vehicle.
This manual provides information needed to drive a passenger vehicle. A non-commercial driver’s license is known and designated as Class D. Unless restrictions appear on the license, a Class D license may be used to operate any motor vehicle except a commercial motor vehicle. If you want a license to drive a commercial or public service vehicle (such as a truck or bus), you need to read the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) manual. If you want an endorsement to drive a motorcycle, you need to read the Motorcycle Operator’s manual. Due to the continuous changes in DMV laws, you should always check the DMV Web site at ct.gov/dmv for the most up to date information
