A lost warrior, an infinite passion…a world that is almost out of time.

Max is an Igigi warrior, a Sariel guard who has always fought to protect those in his care. When he wakes from a wound that should not have harmed him, in a world where nothing is as it should be, his first thoughts are for his duty. Not himself.

She has watched him for thousands of years. Beyond the gods and the whims of fate, she has loved him. But love was not what she was made for, and she was content with that design…until a single action threatened to unravel time.

Only the strongest of warriors can save the future of the Goddess and her children. Will Max fight Time itself…or walk away from his destiny and the heart of the woman who loves him?

I've been waiting for Max's story for awhile. This story did not disappoint, but I would advise a reread of the previous COG stories so that you aren't lost by Max's story.

This is a great bridge to the next story in the series, and makes me impatient for Alexei's story :) The only things I wish about this story is that it was longer and the Jude and Max hooked up, that would be hot I think. Otherwise good bridge!

I was really looking forward to reading about Max, and have to say I was somewhat disappointed and confused. So much going on, it was hard to follow. I never felt that he connected with Phoebe, and I still don't quite understand what she is to the story, how she fits in. That lack of chemistry might have added to my confusion, because I never really got into the book. Maybe, like one reviewer said, I need to do a re-read of the series to see how Max ended up where he did, and why Phoebe is so important to him. Then again, should following a storyline be this hard?!

I loved the other books in the series and hope that I can make a connection with the next book!

Short but oh so sweet. I enjoyed this short story of Max, Phoebe, Jude and Silas. It was over far to soon for me.
I've loved this series from the start. And recommend to everyone. I can't wait for the next book to be released. It's going to Alexei's Dawn and I have a feeling things are going to get pretty hairy. It's planned for a 2012 release.
And I believe Max, Phoebe and Jude are going to be a very important in the future of everyones' lives. I can't wait.
You have a beautiful and amazing mind Ms. Alexander.
Highly recommend this shortie and the entire series.
