Egyptologist Alex Randal is on her way to Egypt to work with her father in finding a tomb when her father disappears and she goes there instead to find him. She solicits the help of a film producer and a sheik who were helping her father with the dig until he disappears. She discovers her ex-husband has been following her and her father so that he can claim the discovery and get the fame for finding the tomb. In the meantime Alex falls in love with the film producer.

For a novel to be a part of so many "shelves" is commendable. The author has a very natural way of making all the elements fit. Of course Egypt lends itself to mystery and romance. My favorite travel was up the Nile from Alexandria to Abu Simbal.

Having been to the Valley of the Kings, the heat even in the winter months is unbelievable. Doing a dig must be the most hard dusty labor I can think of, however the author did not dwell on the painstaking discomfort. Instead, the focus was a fast paced story with characters at odds, trying to solve a mysterious disappearance.
