Imagine coming face to face with the kind of extreme crime that can only be conceived by a truly evil mind. Acts so powerful that they can scar a whole nation for generations. The perpetrators manage to achieve a level of notoriety only usually afforded to Hollywood icons. In their own twisted imaginations they sit in an Evil Hall of Fame among others of their kind: Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, Andrei Chikatilo all jostling for the top spot. Extreme Evil throws light on the most vicious crimes ever committed, and the turbulent lives of the men and women behind them.

This is like a macabre version of 'Who’s Who', with sections on cannibals, serial killers, lady killers, cult killers, tyrants, and children of evil. Despite the fact that some individuals are misplaced within the sections, eg: Dennis Nilsen was more of a necrophiliac serial killer than a cannibal, only boiling the heads of his victims in order to clean the skull of brain matter and other viscera; Arthur Shawcross claimed to have had an appetite for his victims’ private parts (and whatever else took his fancy on the day), thus putting him in the cannibal section; and Aileen Wuornos is depicted on the front cover when there is no mention of her in the text; this is an interesting read, regardless of the sketchy details and somewhat poor writing style.
Nothing really to say about this one except it didn't really leave a lasting impression. Sure, all the pertinent info was there on the killers listed....but hardly any detail went into their background beyond a rudimentary discussion of their crimes....which lasted maybe three or four pages per entry. Would have rated this one higher if more information had been given. As it stands, I felt like I was reading articles on Wikipedia rather than a book written by expert criminologists.
I can relate to the victimization aspect of her life. But the insanity ideals of her justification for killing. Just a shocker read. Empathy, sympathy, anger, frustration, confusion are only a few of the emotions that’ll reach you reading this book.
As a heavy reader of true crime books, I am always on the look out for anything new to further my knowledge. With a title like Extreme Evil, I really had to pick it up, yes you should not judge a book by its title but with a quick browse it seemed to contain some interesting cases. I tend to look for books that either tackles something I am not familiar with or I am familiar with to gain some more insight. This had both, and while it may not be the best book on the subject of crime, it certainly is worth a read for those with the interest.
Rather dry and missing a lot of detail. It was like reading a reference book. While it did contain some cases I'd never heard of for the most part it was a waste of time.
Duchess This is a bone chilling read. Its unbelievable what people are capable of doing. I just cant stop thinking about the gruesome murders and tortures that the victims have to endure.
A very interesting read and a lot of interesting stories of people I was not familiar with. If you like reading True Crime this book is well worth your time.
This is an ok bus stop read but as a book it’s below average, there was lots of cases I knew nothing about or hadn’t heard of so I thought this was going to be an interesting read but sadly not
