Far from going it alone, Hiro is now in the protection of a trio of fearless and daring yojimbots as he tries to find his way off this forsaken island. The samurai robots have rallied to his cause as he tries to track down a mysterious “rights holder” who seems to be the key to the young boy’s salvation, following the death of his father. Together, Hiro and his entourage finally make it across the island to Tower 4, where their contact is said to be awaiting them. But the powers that be are not going to let them slip away quite so easily, leading to an epic confrontation with the deadliest robots the island has to offer. Will Hiro and the yojimbots be able to withstand one more attack, and locate the rights holder?
This comic is long on action but short on story. The art is fantastic with colors that pop. The action sequences are brilliant. I love these samurai robots that keep joining up to help this kid. However, there's still very little world building. The last 2 issues have had the kid menaced by some crazy guy in front of a computer toying with the kid, sending drones to kill him, but we are no closer to learning who he is or anything about the kill team that went after them in the first issue. So it's a bit frustrating especially since these come out so infrequently. Still, I'm all in now as long as I don't lose track of this series before another issue gets translated to English.
The way this series is serialized makes them very quick reads, indeed. Not much depth of story, but there is a cuteness that makes Yojimbot hard to put down. Artwork is good, although the storyboarding for the action sequences is kinda all over the place.
Beautiful art. The panels convey action effortlessly. The color work does a great job at conveying the intensity of the action. The dialog is a bit obvious at times, but otherwise the story feels natural.
Hiro and his robot friends continue there trek up to Tower 4 in hopes of meeting with his Dads friends. But of course, something goes wrong.
This series continues to have great action, art and story. Sure it may be slow moving but keep in mind that they only have 40 ish pages to work with per part. I can’t wait for the next one!
