About the author

Yumiko Igarashi (いがらしゆみこ) is a resident of Sapporo, Hokkaido. She is also the cousin of fellow mangaka Satsuki Igarashi; a member of Clamp.

In 1968, as a third-year high school student at the Asahi Gaoka High School in Sapporo, Hokkaidō, she made her debut in Shueisha's Ribon manga magazine with Shiroi Same no iru Shima. She won the 1st Kodansha Manga Award in 1977 as the artist of Candy Candy.

In the late 1990s, Igarashi became involved in a number of legal battles related to her intellectual property rights as an illustrator. Igarashi claimed that in series for which she was the illustrator, she should hold sole intellectual property rights to the portrayals of the characters, and not need the consent of her authors to license merchandise based on their likenesses. In a dispute over the Candy Candy character designs in 1999, the court ruled against Igarashi, stating that both she and writer Kyoko Mizuki held equal rights to the characters, and awarded Mizuki reparations equal to 3% royalties on all the merchandise that had been created without her consent. This legal battle paralyzed the franchise for several years, interfering with Toei's production of a Candy Candy anime, and making the creation of new merchandise difficult due to the court's order that all merchandise be approved by both Igarashi and Mizuki, but a trickle of new merchandise was produced in 2004, suggesting some agreement had been reached.

Wow, che fatica mettere le mani su questo albo. L'avevo ordinato in fumetteria ma si era perso per strada e mi è toccato ordinarlo di nuovo.

Mentre leggevo ero lì che pensavo: «No, Anna, come fai a lasciar perdere un tipo come Gilbert?! Quell'altro non è degno neanche di pulirgli le scarpe...»

Certo, come tutti gli adattamenti saltabecca un po' qui e un po' lì ma questi cinque volumi mi son piaciuti molto. E mi piace anche lo stile della Igarashi, che mi ricorda un po' la mia infanzia.

Però, dai, l'ho letto volentieri e mi ha quasi fatto venir voglia di leggere i romanzi originali, che sono una delle mie lacune letterarie.

Volumen 5 de Ana de las Tejas Verdes... ¡LEIDO!. Terminé con lágrimas en los ojos al recordar todo cuanto vivieron los personajes. Leer los 5 mangas ha sido todo un deleite, como una brisa veraniega directo al corazón. Haré en esfuerzo de conseguir los 9 libros que componen Ana de las Tejas Verdes, mi corazón lector me dice que valdría la pena.

What can I say, a manga adaption of one of my favorite romance classics of all time. It was brilliant. The older shoujo art style suits the story perfectly. Despite it only having 6 chapters it developed Anne and Gilberts relationship perfectly.
Also I loved Davy and Dora and even Rusty made a appearance.
Then there is her new gorgeous friend and all her fun romantic troubles as well.

Pues me ha encantado descubrir el mundo de Ana y Avonlea a través de la adaptación al manga. El dibujo de corte clásico pega estupendamente con la ternura, romanticismo e imaginación que despliega la protagonista de la historia. Una historia enternecedora que me ha dejado con ganas de sumergirme en los libros y las adaptaciones de tv.

Kisah masa kecil yang innocent rasanya lebih seru dan lucu dibanding kisah Anne dewasa. Untungnya di sini diperkenalkan karakter Phil yang menarik :)
