An incredible story, written cleverly by weaving clues, guesses, facts and action along with characters you will never forget into one outstanding tale of an impossible heist..That expands into So Much More!! The thieves are a unique and likable crew of men, and a woman, who steal from the rich, giving a majority of the money to different charities. And they love the planning, the tech they must foil, the athleticism the task requires, the working out the entry and ability for a safe retreat...Of course they have become well known, especially after the last case when they gained a new member,Blair Morgan, former FBI. She was back-stabbed by a higher up in the service, and when she found herself in a scenario that she had told her co-workers may be happening, that one crew was doing most of the robberies, she gladly took a chance on joining the eclectic crew. Her corrupt boss, Jim, has his mind set on capturing Blair and her Team..But is He capable?! A new, high-tech safe is built on the side of a high-rise..supposedly unbeatable..impenetrable..A new puzzle, dangerous but so tempting for a crew who believe they can get in Any where..especially as the safe will hold a 872 karat diamond-the Sierra Diamond!! Is it Possible..Can they get it done... You will have to ready this explosive story to find out what happens, I am sure you will NOT be able to put this book down as you go through every emotion, action and the highs and lows ..I think you will join me in loving this crew of Sky Thieves!! I received an ARC from the author and offer You my honest thoughts and feelings in this review!!
4.5 stars of action and excitement! Well, the first 60% was 4 stars read but the last 40% was interesting and entertaining; Sterling's background, a bit of romance, some courtroom thrill then it was action and action and action. I like Spider Heist Thriller for easy, fun, and exciting plots. The characters are likable and so far we just learn about Claire and Sterling's background. It's like watching an action movie....just relax and enjoy the ride. Can't wait for the next one.....here they come, Jim!!!
9-2021. Our anti-heroes pick an impossible target for their next heist. And it quickly spirals into ridiculousness. The action is good and the preparation for the busiest is fun to follow, but the central premise is ludicrous for such a smart group of thieves. This is followed by a second grand caper that I won’t discuss for plot spoiler reasons, but it’s even more silly. I won’t follow them to Book Three, even if it promises to feature revenge on their FBI nemesis.
A nice read but a bit of an unbelievable story line. Another crooked FBI agent who seems to be imbued with a mind reading brain as he seems to know what the Thieves are up to and prepares for them at every turn. Too many long pages on internal self searching and analysis but all in all if was a fast and easy read.
The Sky Thieves is a critique against the justice system. It is about the arrogance of key holders of power and their abuse thereof, for reasons of their own, which usually centers around their narcissistic personalities rather than the public good. When a prosecutor repeats the same thing ten or more times, she is lying. "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." The prosecutor is following the advice of Joseph Goebbels. No surprise there. And then there are the fascist pigs of the supermax facility. "Stay up," right. It is a story of control freaks, otherwise known as fascists.
I would question whether Jim could go after Sterling's mom's property due to the statute of limitations. And yes, most inmates in Florence probably deserve it and/or it is necessary for them to be there, but a one-time convicted jewel thief? No. The idea of the warden rushing to protect inmates in an emergency, claiming humanitarianism is laughable.
The author once again brings to life real characters in suspenseful situations. It does take a quarter of the book to get going, but does not disappoint later. A strong ending, but improbable. The story also highlights the weaknesses of these 'professional' thieves, which is not always so easy to understand. Why risk your freedom for a pretty stone you can't sell? Why risk prison for 5% of the profits? They've become too high profile as a result of their desire for recognition.
An exciting series with The Manhattan Job to come.
The big takeaway at the end of the 1st boom for me was this seems absolutely tailor-made for the big screen and book 2 kind of does reinforce the same as well but to be fair, this book had a lot more "book" things going for it than the last one, in terms of inner examinations for the characters involved and definitely think, this is a much better book even if the adrenaline rush is tamped down a fair bit
What though is good about the series is how the nature of the book has changed so far - while heists do form the foundation, there are elements in the mix that help differentiate the books as well. Book 1 had a redemption/ second chance element, book 2 had a prison break element and book 3 promises to have a revenge element built
While some elements are a bit too glossy and waved away, the fundamental nature of the heist planning and fun is super well done. The chemistry of the core heist members makes for fun reading if a bit superficial. Hoping for further books to shine a light on each member going forward.
The lead antagonist and his "mentor" character are kind of one-note but we are seeing some shades of individualism being attached to them - guessing next book is going to pick up on this well enough. Overall enough fun with a right amount of depth to make this a fast paced read
This is a pulse pounding, action packed thriller! The heist crew has their toughest mission yet when they stage a prison break from the most secure prison in the country to free one of their own. Buckle up for an edge of your seat adrenaline rush in this high octane thriller.
Kept me on the edge of my seat with great storyline, mental gymnastics and plenty of possibilities to keep you guessing! I highly recommend this book & series!
The Sky Thieves is book 2 in the Spider Heist series by Jason Kasper. While enough is described that you could read this book on it's own, you'll have a much deeper appreciation of the story if you read book 1 first.
This book has a lot going on and covers multiple wildly different heists, and like the first book, the planning is interesting but once the action kicks off, it's almost impossible to put down. I wish I was able to read faster so that I didn't have so many late nights when reading these books. They really are that good that it's worth the trade off though.
The Sky Thieves introduces events and ideas in a format that flows smoothly with many surprises along the way. There really isn't a good way to talk about the content of the story without revealing spoilers that are better discovered through reading the book. So I'll just sum it up as an excellent heist story, and one that you will definitely enjoy if you enjoyed the first book.
This an amazing book and no one c oould have written it better than Jason Kasper. When I first started reading it wasn't sure where it was going to go, but On My, one of the best books I have read can't enough words to say good it is, so well written keeps you enthralled all the way to the end. The research that must have been done. Fantastic! This is a great read and highly recommend it. So exciting I could not put it down until I finished it.Jason. kasper, Thank you.
Let’s start there: the first book was all sorts of amazing. This one? Even more so, which tells a lot about the action, humour, action, emotion, and did I say action?
I think that Alec killed me (laughing) a few times, and it’s impossible not to root for the crew and want them to succeed. Just as it was impossible to close the book once I opened it. Brilliant from beginning to end.
Artistic License steatched to the limits. Why have trial if he pled guilty?? His trial (?) defense was horrible. Never explained how crew infiltated the Max prison communications or computer systems. As for his mother, I believe there are things called statutes of limitations......... But still entertaining if somewhat not credible.
Really sort of a dumb book. I felt like I had wasted my time reading it. If you had read his first book on the bank heist, you get a clone with the second book with some different obstacles thrown in. The break-out of the high security prison is truly a farst. somewhat far-fetched. This will definitely be his last book I'll be reading......................
So many unnecessary details and forced romance flashbacks. Inconceivable plot. Unfortunately won’t be reading past this one. Very tough to get through.
Wow. If I had to pick a word to describe this series so far, it would be THRILLING. This series is pretty much non stop action and it isn't just descriptive action, It is actual drama filled, butterfly inducing, bite your nails action. There were times when I just wanted to take a second and breathe. Isn't that the best kind of book?
Admittedly, I did not like this book as much as I liked the first book, but it was only because the story arc in this book is different. The action is a different type of action than we saw in the first book. It still made my stomach hurt (in a good way, of course) and I was just WAITING for everything to hit the fan....Definitely anxiety inducing.....
We now have our gang of thieves - The Sky Thieves - and we are getting better acquainted with each of them. Granted, this book definitely focuses on Sterling and Blair, but we get to know Alec and Marco better as well.
I am now officially on the "Jim needs to be taken care of" gang....whatever way that needs to happen. He made me nauseous with how awful he was. I am going to have faith in Mr. Kasper that he has a good plan in place to take care of him.
So, two books done...and things are only getting started.
While I mostly enjoyed this story, I was overall disappointed. The first book in the series, Spider Heist, was very unpredictable. This one, not so much. The characters spent "days" figuring out part of the Sky Safe heist that should have been obvious to them from the very beginning since they are these experienced thieves. I'm not and saw it a mile away. (A more believable story line would have them say at the very inception of the idea, "the only way we can make this work is if it's an inside job" and then figure out exactly how to go about making that happen.)
The second half of the book, involving the super max prison, was much less predictable. Thus, more enjoyable for me to read. My only issue with that portion of the story was the mom (I won't say whose so as not to spoil anything). The woman in the scene in the waiting room would never have reacted that way once she got to the actual visitation. She would have gotten herself together so she didn't miss out on the visitation opportunity, especially since she had to travel across country for it.
All in all, worth the read. Just keep your expectations modest to avoid being disappointed.
I have to admit I'm loving this series so far. Jason Kasper continues to impress me with The Sky Thieves, the second in this heist series that follows a crew of thieves as they tackle some of the most highly guarded safes in the world.
Understand you really need to have the read the first book for this one to make sense, as a lot of the events and motivations carry over from Spider Heist. The book is split into two main parts: first the attempted heist from a supposedly unbreakable "sky safe" and then a daring prison break plan when one of the crew gets nabbed by the authorities. The antagonist from Spider Heist returns as an added thorn in the side of the team.
This series has a lot going for it so far. The comradery of the team is really fun and the details and planning that go into the heists are fascinating. It's definitely over the top, and if you're someone who has to have all the details 100% realistic in your books, you may have a problem with this. If you're just looking for a fun action adventure story you can't go wrong here. One of the most entertaining books I've read recently. Moving on to The Manhattan Job!
I was thrilled to read The Sky Thieves and finished wanting more. This second installment of Spider Heist Thrillers is everything I expected Jason Kasper to write. A high tech finely tuned team executing a well thought out plan is one of my favorite subjects. It brought me back to some of the teams I was privileged to be a part of while serving our great nation. If you haven't read his first book in the series, I highly recommend it. Each book can stand alone, but you get to know the characters better reading them in sequence. Like The Spider Heist, The Sky thieves will keep you awake to see whats next or if they get caught. Jason Kasper is one of my favorite authors and his unique experiences give breathe of life to his writing.
Jason Kasper Author delivers another exceptional literary experience with his outstanding writing. The story continues with the return of the Spider Heist characters, who face their most daunting challenge yet, but is it actually a trap? This modern-day Robin Hood crew is driven by the thrill of the challenge, but is it a setup orchestrated by the FBI? Readers will discover the truth in this gripping, page-turning adventure. What sets this series apart from others is its focus on the intricacies of the heist rather than violence. The dialogue and meticulously crafted storyline make for an extraordinary read. I highly recommend immersing oneself in this series, beginning with the inaugural title, “Spider Heist”.
Kasper is a master of pacing when it comes to action, that much is evident. This book is the second in this series of four, and I can confidently say that there isn’t a dull nor an unnecessary word printed in this book.
Following hot off the heels of The Spider Heist, we follow the crew we came to love on another crazy heist (or two), this time though, the stakes are a little higher.
You won’t find deep and complex feelings here, or engaging commentary on the human condition, but you will have a thrilling ride of an action book with a charming cast of characters - even the ones you want to punch in the face.
The first of the series was an interesting twist where a good person becomes a hunted(???) person due to circumstances she never saw. This one plays on the premise that she is really good at what she does and it leads to bigger things. I will not spoil the plot lines (yes there are two), but things go really interesting in the second part of the story. It kept me going because of the story, not the reality of the story. The third installment is greatly anticipated. A 4.4 out of 5 rating.
This book is amazing. The excitement heightens as you go and then doesn't stop. Once you pick it up beware you won't want to put it down. I loved the David Rivers series and didn't want A new series- but I now love this one too. Think each book gets better if that is possible. Wish I could go right on to the Sky Thieves next adventure .Jason Kasper is one of my favorite authors and doesn't disappoint.
Jason has got a winning series going here. His first book, Spider Heist, was so good! It was hard to think he could top it, but he has! Sky Thieves is excellent. This series is fast paced and surprising. We care about the characters, either loving them or hating them, but we care! I can't wait for the next book in the series. I can't imagine where he is going next, but can't wait to find out! Read this series, you won't be disappointed.
I was a bit surprised when this turned up on my kindle, I did not remember pre-ordering it. The first book has obviously impressed me. After a slow start, the action and the writing took off, a full on thriller. Unpredictable, some lovely plot twists and held back details, it kept my attention throughout. And yes, I am about to pre-order the third in the series
This series is loads of thrills and fun! This one is a markedly different story from the first one, but no less exciting. Can't wait for #3, that's for sure! If you are interested, know that each can be read as a stand alone, and there is nary a cliffhanger. However, you will have lots more fun if you read them in order. The first is The Spider Heist. And Now you will have to excuse me as I go on the hunt for the third. Happy reading!
The author has outdone hisself with this incredible story of planning, thievery, trial, prison, more planning and escape all wrapped into book 2. The amazing sequences from the heist to eventually Anne cape from a Super Max Prison captures the reader with excitement throughout. How do people come up with these ideas? Read it and see for yourself you won’t be disappointed!
The Sky Thieves wasn’t as strong as the first book for me. The story started off really slow—I almost put it down a couple of times—but I’m glad I pushed through. Once it picked up, the action and world-building drew me back in, and the second half delivered enough momentum to keep me invested. While it didn’t quite capture the same spark as book one, it did enough to make me want to continue with the series. Ready for book three!
