I personally really enjoyed The Worthy Mind
Meadow's take on how to improve self-worth focuses on shadow work - accepting and integrating all the undesired opposites of the emotions you believe others wish to see in you.
In order for this complete self-acceptance to flourish, these neglected aspects need to be named, conversed with and accepted, keeping in mind the risks of what it means to live that kind of life
Meadow's accounts of raw emotional stories from her childhood and some of the described client work helps provide useful examples
None of the information here is somehow arcane or secret and is not different from research you could do on your own by watching videos in this space, listening to podcasts or reading blogs, however Meadow helps collect it all into a very nice package, a useful framing that will maybe help me along my own mental health journey more than some other versions is have seen previously
The book has exercises after every chapter as well as journaling prompts that can be used to perform the described work yourself and they can be worth attempting if the content appeals
