Be prepared to go through a gamut of emotions. I enjoy Chalon Linton’s books whether she’s writing contemporary or historical romance stories. This opposites attract, enemies to lovers romance starts out with a fiery Italian baron’s daughter who enjoys pushing her suitors’ buttons. She meets her match though in a gentleman who will not be manipulated. As they frequently meet, the sparks fly, but is there more to this Italian diva than meets the eye?

It took me a while to like Chiara Madero. She appears pushy, demanding, and a bit mischievous. When Abraham Jamison refuses to dance with her, the challenge is on. Used to having men fall at her feet, Abraham is definitely a formidable opponent. Her controlling family wants her to only marry a titled English gentleman. Yet, there’s something about this second son and his adorable family that Chiara can’t resist. As the story progresses, we find out why Chiara is the way she is. Underneath all that bravado, is a woman desperate for real love and control of her fate. I increasingly gained sympathy for her after seeing how she was treated by her parents.

Abraham is practical, steady, & unsure of what he wants to do in life. He doesn’t want to join the military or clergy like most second sons so, he’s a little lost. One thing he’s not is a pushover, and there’s no way he’s falling for Chiara’s machinations. He’s also very knowledgeable and enjoys teaching others. He takes Chiara’s little brother under his wing and enjoys helping him learn English. The two make a bargain though which later comes back to haunt him.

Chiara has a habit of murmuring her true feelings in Italian and lucky for Abraham, he can fluently speak it. He gains insights into her true personality this way and really comes to care for her. But, what happens when Chiara learns the truth? With all the obstacles between them, can these two opposites possibly have a future together?

Both Chiara and Abraham made mistakes and needed to grow and change. While they’re both so different, they complimented each other. I enjoyed the way they finally find the courage to go after what they want.

I loved the Jamison family. Where Chiara’s family is cold and controlling, the Jamisons are just the opposite. They’re supportive, kind, and enjoy teasing and having fun together. I can’t wait to read the rest of the brothers’ stories!

This is definitely a unique, slow burn romance with a few twists and surprises along the way, but the ending is so worth it! It’s a standalone, but has ties to two previous books, Forever Phoebe & Escape to Everly Manor. If you enjoy clean, Regency romances, you might like this book. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily given.

Chiara and Abraham are two very opposite in temperament characters! They have some misunderstandings along the development of their relationship, but especially at the beginning that definitely sets the tone for how they perceive and act towards each other for a while. Their walls start to crumble along the way as they truly start to see each other for who they are.

Chiara has a very strong personality, which after being told how to act and what to do and having everything expected to be a certain way, she takes control of her life in the only way she has been able to. Which creates some humorous moments for sure. And some awkward ones as well. Mostly awkward for Abraham. ;-)

I liked seeing more of their pasts unfold which brought more understanding for me as a reader as well as for these two characters. But there are still some misunderstandings and hurts that come. I really liked both of these two characters' siblings. They were such a fun and great addition to the storyline.

Throw in a mother that you will not like but will cheer over something in regards to her later on in the story and the cast of characters and their activities/outings will pull you into this story.

Content: Clean.

Chiara is the daughter of an Italian Baron. She comes to England with her mother in order to find a suitable husband. Good set up so far. She has a younger half brother who she takes responsibility for since he is her father's son rather than her mother's. She doesn't have a lot of choices in her life,

Abraham is a younger son and he does not know what he wants in life. He sees Chiara as snobby and unfeeling.

Together they get to know each other a little more. He understands Italian and she is unaware so he gets insights into who she is because of the things she says to herself.

Her younger brother struggles with English, so Abraham teaches him as long as he doesn't tell Chiara.

The two of them finally see past their own prejudices and find what they are looking for and it may not be what they thought it was.

I love this story about an unlikely pair who are just seeking to find what eludes them. It is well written with good tension and humor. The situations they find themselves in ring true and feel like they might have really happened.

I received an eARC through NetGalley and this is my honest review

Chiara is such an interesting character! I loved how the author challenges our first impressions of Chiara by peeling back her layers, revealing the vulnerable young woman behind the facade she has learned to use. Abraham is instrumental in provoking Chiara and making her see past the games of society. I enjoyed her sense of humor, and how she did her own provoking to get Abraham out of his reserved and often grumpy shell. They are both at an important crossroads in their lives, with the pressures of career and marriage. They seem like an unlikely couple, but their opposite natures compliment each other and their chemistry is palpable. The pace felt unhurried, which allowed me to enjoy the nuances of all the characters and the situations they find themselves in. Recommend to fans of sweet Regency romance!

I loved being back with the wonderful, fun and loving Jamison family. This family is a stark contrast to Chiara Madero's who don't show much love or affection toward one another. Abraham and Chiara meet at a ball and sparks fly when she tricks him into accepting her as a dance partner but he refuses to be manipulated into dancing with her. This doesn't sit well with Chiara, who is used to getting what she wants.

It took me quite awhile to like Chiara, but as I learned more about her upbringing I started to understand her and why she acted as she did. Her parents run most of her life--what she does, who she associates with, etc--and she's just trying to control a small portion of it. Chiara, her younger half-brother Mattias, and her mother are in England because her mother's determined to marry her off to a titled gentleman, but Chiara doesn't want an arranged, loveless marriage--she wants what the Jamison family has.

There were so many things I loved in this story: the Jamison siblings, Abraham teaching Mattias English, the enemies to lovers/opposites attract vibe, the Italian murmurings that let us and Abraham know Chiara's inner thoughts, Abraham and Chiara's growth as people and the best plot twist ever!!!

This story is a standalone but goes with Forever Phoebe. After reading this one you'll want to read Phoebe's story. I hope we get Geoffrey's story next. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All comments and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Chiara's Choice was written by one of my favorite authors, Chalon Linton. She has a way of writing such relatable characters that you remember for a long time. Chiara's Choice is part of the Everly Series that features the Jamison family. I've loved the previous two books, Escape to Everly Manor and Forever Phoebe. This third book is a fantastic addition to the series.

Chiara Madero is the daughter of an Italian Baron looking for the perfect man her parents want her to marry. This lady is full of spice and doesn't want to head into a loveless marriage like her parents. Here she is in the London Marriage Mart and isn't very impressed with what she is seeing.

Abraham Jamison is a wonderful and perfect gentleman but not a first son. He has nothing to offer a baron's daughter. When these two people meet they clash and fireworks ensue. If you are looking for an enemies-to-lovers trope, you are reading the right book. There are moments when you get frustrated with both Chiara and Abraham. Chiara is very much in control until readers find out that she feels exactly the opposite. I grew to like her more and more as the story went on. Abraham also gained courage and strength as he spent more time with Chiara.

Chiara's Choice is a love story about two people that fight hard for their love. They both are up against societal expectations and need the bravery to stand up for themselves. Just know that there is a surprising "Happily Ever After" that will make readers smile. I'm excited to see what happens in the next Everly Series book.

There were so many things I enjoyed about this book. It has a grump/sunshine...even an enemies to more vibe going on. Abraham does not like his buttons pushed and Chiara knows all the right ones to push to drive him crazy. It also has a hint of forced proximity, definitely off-limits romance and so much happening in between all of those!

'Chiara prided herself on her ability to get what she wanted. Her father's will dominated the majority of her life, thus she took opportunity where she could to gain control.'

'"It will be awkward when you next meet. Miss Madero will most likely avoid you."
"One can hope." Abraham mumbled softly.'

I loved the character arcs and growth from our two main characters. Both grow in very different ways and I loved watching it all come together. I loved seeing the Jamison family and their sweet relationships with one another. They are such a fun family to read about. Chiara's family relationships are quite opposite, but her connection with Mattias is adorable.

'She could not quantify what the Jamisons shared, but deep down she knew whatever it was, she wanted a part of it.'

I felt a full range of emotions in this book (I do love a book that can give me all of the feels).

There were some plot twists I did not see coming (I love a book that surprises me).

And by the ending I was SO HAPPY how things tied up!

If you love lots of character growth, historical romance, regency romance, self discovery and self improvement I think you would love this book!

First of all...where can I get a Regency dress like that? It's gorgeous!

This sweet romance had a bit of a forbidden romance vibe to it that made it intriguing. Chiara is Italian and is in England to find a match, but Abraham is NOT it because he has a "list of things wrong with him," namely being a second son and untitled. I was a little shocked by Chiara's very selfish and outspoken nature, but the edges soften as the pages turn. She is definitely spirited and knows her mind, wanting only what's best for her with no one's interference.

Abraham is a really good man--but he does go about some things in a slightly backward and backhanded way, only causing himself problems. He's a very caring character and I loved the banter and attraction, as well as respect, between this couple.

It was an interesting blend of Italy and England in this time period and was so much fun to watch, especially as they navigated different customs and expectations.

This is a match made in a fiery inferno and while slow-burn, has those necessary sparks and connection.

Content: mild romance

In Chiara's Choice, Chiara is visiting England with her mother and her brother. Her mother and father want her to marry a titled English man to help further their own interest. Upon meeting Abraham Jamison, Chiara founds herself interested in his honesty and lacking willingness to play her games. The two battle it out until they figure out each other's feelings...

The characters in this book are really interesting. I love the combativeness and the awkward situations that they place themselves in. The dynamic between the two is really interesting and I loved the dialogue. Linton had awkward situations grow even more awkward and combative. I felt like this was one of Chalon's strongest novels yet. The edgy dialogue softened as the characters grew to know each other and I was a little disappointed since I really enjoyed the witty sparring. This story is more character-driven than action-driven, and I felt like it really played well with Linton's writing style. Overall, this is a fun, clean romance that romance readers will want to add to their TBR piles.

Please note that I received a free book to review, however, this is my honest opinion.

I loved delving back into the world with the Jamison family! Seeing old friends made my heart so happy. I loved both Abraham and Chiara. They were so different and the sparks just flew between them! Sometimes they felt like literal sparks of fire and sometimes they were sparks of attraction! This story of opposites attract was engrossing and a delight to read. Linton kept me on my toes and there were multiple things that I was trying to decipher how they would be resolved. The banter between Abraham and Chiara kept me riveted to the pages and I felt like I was there watching every scene unfold. Chiara’s Choice is an absolute delight! Usually books start slow and end fast, this one starts fast and ends slow. I never really liked Chiara’s characters. I get that she had an emotionally challenging upbringing but the way she responded was a little annoying. Abraham was great in some ways and way too weak in others. The best character was Chiara’s little brother. That part of the story saved the book for me.

Chiara Madero takes Abraham Jamison’s world by storm as she follows none of the English societal conventions that are expected of young women. Could it be because she is newly arrived from Italy or is it simply her way of doing things? I found Abraham’s declaration to be refreshing when he tells Chiara at their first meeting that she should look elsewhere if she wishes to marry someone with money and a title. Navigating their relationship had its ups and downs but I enjoyed seeing how they worked through the tough spots.

Abraham’s family is so supportive of him. They have given him time and space to choose his career and also his marriage prospects. I love that his sister Phoebe is a diehard matchmaker and does everything she can to see Chiara and Abraham have their relationship succeed. I also think that Abraham and Chiara have a wonderful and true friend in Lord Landon. I hope we get to read his story in the future.

CHIARA'S CHOICE by Chalon Linton

Have you read Forever Phoebe? If you haven’t, it's still on sale on kindle for a $1.99 as of this writing.

Phoebe is one of the Jamison siblings. It was nice to revisit with her and Everly in Chiara's Choice. Abraham Jamison was the quiet brother but full of conviction. His first meeting with Chiara didn't turn out well since she was stubborn and self-absorbed. I didn't like Chiara at first and then I wasn't pleased with Abraham because he lied about his fluency in Italian. This slow burn romance focused more on the protagonists character development which was nice. I also enjoyed the relationship among the Jamison family. They were so fun and were not shy in showing their care for each other.

I can't wait to read more books in this series.

I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve been lost in the pages of a book by the amazing Chalon Linton. I’ve been anxiously waiting to get more of the Jamison family and be able to read each of the brother’s stories. So as soon as I found out we’d be getting Abraham’s book I was so excited. Add into that the fact that the heroine is Italian and I couldn’t wait to start this story.
Abraham’s quiet steadiness was the perfect match for Chiara’s strong out-going personality. These two were so fun to see and experienced how their relationship progressed. The push and pull between them created some great moments of romantic tension.
Strangely enough I also loved Abraham’s struggle with what to do with his life. As a second son he’s unsure of what to do with his future and how to move forward in life. So many times books are about the oldest son, so it was very interesting to get this perspective and insight into how a second son would make a living and support a family.
And of course I can’t not mention the fantastic, hilarious, and totally relatable relationship the Jamison siblings have. Getting a glimpse into the dynamics of this family is always so entertaining.
While overall I did LOVE this story there were a few small things that added up to be enough to not give this book the full five stars.
Most of that reasoning comes from the simple fact of how long it took me to finish this book. Despite being a stay-at-home mom I can finish books fairly quickly, so when a book takes more than two-three days to finish that speaks volumes to me. It means it wasn’t as exciting/engaging enough for me to do all I can to have the time to read and finish the story. This does NOT mean the book was boring or “bleh” because I still love this book and plan on buying it to add to my library, but just that it didn’t have that extra bit for me to stay up late or sneak in extra reading time throughout the day. Other than this, there were just a few things that prevented me from giving the five stars, and they are:
* In the beginning I really struggled liking Chiara, and even throughout the book I didn’t like how she acted. It is explained and I do “get” why she is the way she is, I just personally didn’t love some aspects of her personality.
* Also, having lived in Italy, learned Italian, and met my husband there (and my husband is still 100% fluent in Italian) it was a bit frustrating when the Italian wasn’t correct. It only happened a few times but it was enough to be a bit bothersome.
Overall I did LOVE this book and now I am so excited and ready to get the next story about either Geoffrey or Peter. I love Chalon’s writing and will always look forward to any and every story she decides to publish. This is the perfect book for anyone looking for a sweet historical romance.

When expectations don’t align with feelings
This book has a more slowly moving plot and spends more time on character development. Chiara is an Italian noblewoman of marriageable age and her parents want he to marry well, meaning someone who can help her family increase or maintain its status. After prospects are not looking promising in Italy, her father sends her, her mother, and younger brother to England to marry someone meeting their standards and preferably with a title. Chiara chafes at this directive as she wishes to have some control in her life especially in the choice of her spouse. When she meets Abraham Jamison, a second son without wealth, status, title, or prospects, she is intrigued when he dismisses her saying that he does not meet society’s or her standards, so he should be of no interest to her. Thus begins the story of two people who, according to set standards, should not have any interest in each other and their growth and changes as they get to know each other better. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.

I love Ms. Linton's books, this one is no exception. I love how the characters are brought together and how they try to overcome obstacles that try and somewhat succeed to keep them apart. The characters were pretty raw and honest with each other and it was well written that those issues were dealt with and not mentioned, and then tossed.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for a fair review.

This is a fun, regency romp in the Jamison family. This book is about Abraham, the middle son, the quiet one. His life is upended when a feisty Italian woman comes into his life. Her life has not been like his, full of love of a family. She sincerely wants to be seen and heard. She wants to have a say in her life.

It was fun to watch Abraham grow and open to new ideas and adventures. I wonder which brother will be next in the series.

Cover: Beautiful color palette!

Chiara’s Choice is 100% pure Regency energy. It starts with the meeting between Chiara and Abraham, her willfulness and manipulative ways crashing against his steadfastness. She’s the daughter of Baron Madero, looking for a suitable match; he’s not the firstborn, unsuitable by default.

Of course they’re going to fall for each other :D

Overall, as I said, the Regency energy is on point, and developed well. Maybe the beginning feels a little slower than the ending, but it’s a minor issue as the pacing picks up soon.

Both Chiara and Abraham work fine as main characters. The story structure, which includes a double point of view, isn’t my preferred style—there are occasional slips into omniscience—but the author does a good job with the cast of characters. The spotlight is on Phoebe here, at least in my opinion, because she has a well-defined characterization.

The I don’t understand Italian subplot falls a little flat, instead. Yes, it’s a bad idea; yes, secrets are going to drive a wedge between people; yes, Chiara is going to be angry at Abraham. I mean, I understand the reasoning behind this writing trick; I just think it’s too basic to really deliver. Abraham is not a stupid man. He must know it’s going to blow up in his face.

From a technical standpoint, the grammar is spot on. Kudos to the editors. They did a spectacular job!

3.5 stars on GR.

That cover! Chiara is an Italian beauty and she takes society by storm. She was over the top and honestly took forever for me to like her. Like to the very end. Every time I get super annoyed with a character I try to put myself in their shoes. It’s easy to be judgy in my jeans and indoor plumbing typing away on a phone. So I learned to find the true Chiara.

Abraham won me over right away. There was something so vulnerable about him that endeared me for keeps.

I haven’t read the others that are companions to this story, but I didn’t feel FOMO. Except the immense desire to read Phoebe and hopefully the brothers stories as soon as I can. The Jamison family was easy to love and the brothers cracked me up with their banter.

What would you be willing to do to find love and escape expectations? See how Abraham and Chiara find their way to true love’s aspirations.

I really enjoyed then story! I enjoyed seeing a relationship bloom between two individuals from different backgrounds. Chiara is the daughter of an Italian Baron, who has an absent, abusive father and a mother who want to control all of her choices. Desperate to control something in her life, Chiara is know to act out and be overbearing. But when she meets Abraham, she sees a challenge and someone who doesn't fall for her antics. From there, falling in love was easy, but being able to be together will challenge their relationship.

one time my friend advised me “never kiss a man you
don’t already like, because if you don’t like them before the kiss you’ll definitely catch feelings and like them after”. the same should be said about cuddling with a girl, because I’m convinced Abraham only thought he liked Chiara because he had cuddled with her that one time in the rain

I like Chiara's spunkiness. She has such a fiery personality that she uses to manipulate circumstances around her to her benefit. She tries to use this on Abraham and he surprises her.

Abraham is determined to not be manipulated by Chiara and avoids her as much as he can. I love how he sticks strongly to his beliefs, but also that he can see when he needs to not be so strick in them.

I love how it is an apology that gets them moving from enemies to friends. I also love how once they become friends they still struggle sometimes and they have to learn to communicate and trust each other.

As the daughter of an Italian baron, Chiara has very little say in her life, and she gets tired of being unseen and ignored by her parents. When she, her brother, and her mother visit England, Chiara meets the Jamison’s. She is intrigued by Abraham and wants to dance with him, only to be rebuffed when he’s embarrassed by her usual outlandish tactics. Abraham doesn’t know what to think of her at first, but he wants to know the real Chiara, the one who comes through when she says things in Italian, not realizing he is fluent in the language.

I really enjoyed this book! I love a good romance where you know these people have to end up together, but you don’t know how they are going to manage it, and this story does just that. I love Chiara’s personality, and I can relate to her not wanting to be ignored. It was also fun to see characters from some of Chalon’s other books show up in this one.

Chiara’s Choice was an interesting book. The two main characters are such opposites. They perfectly balanced each other out. Though it took quite some time for them to realize it.

Chiara is a headstrong girl who wants to be noticed and heard. She wants to be in control of her destiny. As the daughter of an Italian baron her parents send her England to make a good connection. She has learned growing up that the only way she gets her way is through throwing fits and by manipulation. This doesn’t go over so well with Abraham. He is attracted to her but not about to be manipulated by her. In response to her attempts he gives her quite a set down. Thus begins the enemies to more situation.

This was an enjoyable book, although it is a very slow burn romance. If you enjoy enemies to lovers and forbidden romance tropes you will likely enjoy this book.

I am so glad the Jamison brothers get to tell their stories as well. I loved getting to know them in Phoebe's book and enjoyed getting to know them better in Abraham's story. He and Chiara are both interesting characters. It was fun seeing how they connected and how their relationship evolved. I wasn't a big fan of Chiara in the beginning, but she grew and changed and I found I liked her quite a bit. Chiara and Abraham really complimented each other and their love was sweet. I love the Jamison family and how close they are. They are a big part of the story and such a wonderful support system. I'm anxious for the other brothers' stories.

This was a sweet book. It took me a little bit to get into it, but I ended up enjoying it. Chiara’s Choice is written by Chalon Linton and it follows closely after Forever Phoebe.
Abraham and Chiara were interesting characters. I was able to connect with Abraham from the beginning, however Chiara had to grow on me. I liked how steady Abraham was but how his family brought out the best in him. He was steady but he was also trying to figure out his plans for the future. He never expected Chiara to challenge him and make him reconsider life. Abraham had to learn to fight for what he believed in.
Chiara was more complicated. She presented a mask to society but underneath her mask, she was struggling. As I mentioned, Chiara had to grow on me but as I read more I grew to understand her. Abraham truly saw Chiara behind all of her masks and airs. Chiara had to learn to let others in and be willing to be vulnerable.
Chiara and Abraham balanced each other out. I like how they could match each other. They were drawn to each other from the beginning, but they had to work through their differences. The side characters were so much fun! I love Abraham’s siblings and Chiara’s brother.
Chiara’s Choice was a cute book. I enjoyed it and I would recommend it to those who enjoy historical romances. I am excited to see what the next book will hold, Abraham’s siblings need their own books.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
