Boy this was HOT! I was in the mood for something hot when I read this and boy did I get it! Damn. No other words. Literally. I am speechless. I finished this book a few days ago and have been trying to figure out how to review it.

Plot - Your average erotica book (in a nutshell). Sexual tension then more sexual tension then actual sex (threesome) then awkward after sex then I LOVE YOU! then Should I call, or not to call... then I will call then sex (twosome) then THE END!

Writing - Nice. Nothing great, but the sex scenes were really, really, really hot. And some authors just cant pull scenes like that off. But this author definitely did. Some of the scenes in this book were super, super, super HOT (what's with the groups of three's?). I kept reading, maybe that's because it was short. Oh well. I still read it all in one sitting.

Characters - All interesting, trying to find words to describe the characters but I really can't. In a way they were your average erotica couple: Boy (super hot, secretly attracted to girl) + Girl (lowish self esteem, secretly in love with guy) = average erotica couple. Also throw in another guy and a sex club and you have the equation for this book.

Overall, I really liked this book. Three words (I seem to like three's at the moment) HOT + SEXCLUB + COSRET CAKE = THIS BOOK!

I recommend it to:
1) Fans of erotica.
2) Fans of this author
3) Fans of hot sex and coffee shops (hopefully together ;)

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. My reviews don’t contain spoilers.

The set up for this book from the book summary is Coffee shop owner Sadie Long has been lusting after her good friend Paul Williams for years. So she's more than a little intrigued when he invites her to a business meeting at Mavericks, the sex club where he works.

This was a fast quick read, one I wish would have been longer. I think there is a story about Josh and Paul that needs to be told. Because this I guess is considered a Novella for me the romance was a bit rushed. And as I mentioned before I think more attention could have been paid to the Josh/Paul and Sadie/Paul romance.

That being said, I still really liked this one. The erotica part of the book was HOT! I wish there had been more. And again Josh/Paul, I wish there could have been more.

Anyway, I recommend this quick cup of java to anyone who likes m/f/m and m/m/f. It won’t disappoint.

I'm onto A Shot in the Dark!

Holy Crap! This book is HOT!

Got this e-book from Netgalley - It comes out The first week of October - so watch for the recommend :)

Hot stuff with this book! WOW! *blush* I love a good threesome :)

This story is really great - It starts off with Sadie meeting her good friend Paul at his club - well a club he manages with his friend Josh - Sadie and Paul have been friends for a good 10+ years - and although Sadie has wanted to get together with Paul since her friend and his Ex introduced them, she values their friendship too much.

Paul asked Sadie to meet her at the club - which just so happens to be a sex club - Sadie is a little nervous. Although they've been friends for a long time, they've never really discussed intimate details of their lives... so Sadie had never been in the club before, and didn't really know what went on there.. But when she walked in, she had a good guess - although it was after hours, and the club was empty, She still noticed the giant cross with cuffs in the middle of the room - wow!

Paul invited Sadie up to his office to discuss the details - he wants her to cater a party that Josh is throwing - 80 of their best costumers... Sadie is excited about this opportunity to cater that many people - that's a LOT of food - and money , but then Paul throws her off by asking her what she thinks goes on in the club?? She doesn't know how to respond, Even though Paul had been the star of her fantasy's, she really didn't know a lot about BDSM and things like that... So when she guessed about "fulfilling your fantasy" Paul was happy to ask her "What's your secret fantasy Sadie?" That threw off Sadie even more - but Paul didn't pressure her. He just asked her to think about it - and the night of the big party, he was going to ask her again -
That's about the time Josh came into the office - Josh and Paul are good friends, but that's another side that Sadie didn't know much about. She knew who Josh was, but had never met him - But wow! What would it be like to be in a sandwich between the two?

Well Sadie thought about it - and many other things she'd like to do with the two of them for the next 2 weeks - finally the night of the party .... HA! Going to stop there :) Because it gets REALLY good :)

Sigh - this was a fun read - you learn to really appreciate the relationship between Sadie and Paul, The Story is told in Sadie's POV - so we are not aware of Paul's feelings until the night before when he comes over to go over the list of food -

Anyway - when I was reading this, I was a little thrown off by Josh - they didn't explain his part in all this until the end - not that it was bad - I was just curious about who he was when he entered the room - that's all I'll say :)

This is book ONE of a series of 3 books - If I remember reading right - the other 2 books will be out in November and December and I'm Thinking they're going to tell the stories of Ian (Sadie's gay Brother) and Pagie, their older sister - Ian is awesome, funny and he deserves a good lover - maybe Good Ol' Blue Eyes will find his way around the coffee shop again :)

Double Shot by Christine d'Abo
Genres: Adult. Romance
2.75 Stars

It started out interesting, but I really find it hard to believe that 2 people could feel the same way about each other for TEN YEARS and neither of them know the feeling was mutual.

I mostly 'Liked' the story, but there was to much about nothing.
It is only about 90 pages, so why make Sadie delivering her cake to the party & catering take up an entire chapter.
To much Artificial Filler in That Cake!.

Sadie & Paul confused me.

There is humor and some good romance. There may be a typo or 2. I seem to remember seeing one, but I forgot to highlight it.

A likable read.

This was a wonderful little friends to lovers story, with some hot menage action thrown in!! I would have liked it to be a little longer so that I could have gotten to know the characters better, but all in all a hot little read!! I am looking forward to the other 2 books in the series, specifically Ian's book! I hope he has a little more depth though because I found him fascinating!

Once again, a novella with a lot of potential, but an absence of details kept it from a higher rating.

Petite Sadie Long is the owner of a coffee shop/catering business (Pulled Long) along with her older sister (Paige) and younger gay brother (Ian). Hunky businessman Paul Williams, her best friend's former boyfriend, has been her good friend for the last ten years. Paul and Sadie hang out, they joke, they tease, and get along famously. Paul has no idea that Sadie's had a crush on him since she first met him (actually, no one knows). Paul is on the board of directors of one of Toronto's exclusive adult sex clubs, Mavericks, and his best friend from high school, sexy and muscular Josh Scott is the owner. Josh would like to throw a party for the club's members, and Paul has offered to handle the catering of the event. He wants Sadie...and not just for her catering expertise. Paul realizes that Sadie is what's missing from his life, and he hopes to have her. When Sadie comes to the club and he asks her "Do you have any fantasies you want to live out?" it takes all Sadie's willpower not to blurt out "You, on top of that desk!" Is Paul asking her what she thinks he's asking? Does he want to go beyond 'friendship'? And what would he think if one of Sadie's fantasies involve him...and his leather-pants-wearing friend Josh?

I liked Sadie (what I knew of her), as well as Paul and Josh. My only problem was that I wanted to know more, so I could really connect with them. I'm a detail junkie, I need lots of back story and character development to really enjoy a story, and this one was lacking just a bit in the details. I had questions about Paul and Josh's relationship (nothing sexual beyond some kissing, but I'd bet in the future it might go beyond that)--I would've liked to read more details about their past. The author fleshes out Sadie's character just a bit more, giving her a brother and sister to interact with, but once again I would've liked more. I don't know, maybe I should stay away from these novellas since they almost always feel like they are lacking something.

If you like novellas and aren't bothered by the lack of details, maybe this one is for you. The writing is decent, the characters are likable, the pace is fast, and the heat is definitely there. Who knows, if there's a follow up to this one, I just may check it out. Brother Ian meets a sexy blue-eyed stranger in this one...maybe his story will be a winner? 3 1/2 stars

This is the first in a series of short erotic novellas about three siblings that open a coffee shop together. This first story is about the middle sister, Sadie Long.

Sadie who does all the baking for the coffee shop is hired by her friend Paul to cater an event at a private club. Sadie has wanted Paul for 10 years but does not want to ruin her friendship….Paul throws Sadie for a loop by asking her what her fantasies are and lets her know that he can make them happen.

The story was fun and the chemistry between Sadie and Paul is explosive….I can’t wait to read the next two…I hope the next one is her brother and the “blue eyed guy”

Rating: C+ ... Heat: Sizzling

Warning:

This story has the usual m/f as well as m/f/m, and some brief moments of m/m/f, ménages.

Review:

“Hang on a second.” He covered the microphone of his cell and flashed her a grin. “I want you to think about my question.”
She frowned, tucking a loose lock of her hair behind her ear with a self-conscious pass.
”Question?”
”What is your fantasy? Because I really want to know.”

With that simple question, things between Sadie Long and Paul Williams go from ‘stuck in the friend zone’ to ‘where do we go from here?’ Sadie finally has her chance to explore her feelings for Paul after a decade of him always being in a relationship with someone other than her. And what better way to feel things out than while she caters a party for him at a sex club he manages?

The beginning of Double Shot ran a little long, focused quite a bit of attention on Sadie getting ready for the party and her internal thoughts, but I still enjoyed the build up. Getting to know Sadie herself.

Because I liked Sadie, a lot, even if that song played on a loop in my brain, in the background, every time her name was said: ‘Sadie, Sadie, married lady, that’s me!’ She was shy, bashful and completely oblivious to her own charms. Classic middle child with an older sister and younger brother with strong personalities. Sadie goes with the flow and blends in. So, it made me smile when she finally grows bolder and actually issues orders to Paul and Josh.

It didn’t feel like as much attention was paid to Paul and the development of who he is… But I still really liked him as a hero. There were quite a few sides to him shown in the last half that drew me to him. Particularly the side of him that involved some super hot m/m action.

I haven't read very many (okay, only two, I believe) ménages where there is actual male on male, but uh, this was hot. In fact, I wanted more. I wouldn't have minded one bit if there had been one more scene with Paul, Sadie, and Josh where Paul and Josh got a bit more physical… I might even be a bit disappointed that there wasn’t… Because, oh my gosh, I still flush when thinking about what Josh did with his tongue.

Double Shot is like a double shot of your favorite hard liquor. A wicked short story that will heat you up from the inside out.

I think I need to use the great Goodreads term glitterkink to describe this one. I think it's meant to be BDSM but there is no actual BDSM involved in the scenes - this is just really hot menage sex.

So Paul and Sadie have been friends for a decade. She's admired him from afar while he paraded a succession of beautiful girlfriends in front of her. Sadie now runs a coffee shop with her gay brother and straight sister and Paul asks Sadie to cater for him for a special function at the BDSM club he is a member of which is run by his friend Josh. He also comes on strong to Sadie and asks he to think of her secret fantasy.

Having met Josh, Sadie's fantasy is a sweet hot menage with him, her and Paul. This is where it started to fall apart for me. At the function, Paul and Josh take Sadie off to a private room and put her in charge, despite her lack of experience. I kind of hoped that Paul and Josh would take control of the situation. They do have some very hot menage sex but then Paul, really rather inexplicably, decides that Sadie likes Josh better than him and stomps off into a six day sulk!

I felt a little lost and short-changed by this - they do, of course, make up and have a steamy vanilla scene but Paul was a bit of a petulant child and not quite the dom I thought he was going to be.

Sadie's brother and sister will have stories to tell and I am especially looking forward to her brother and Ole Blue eyes!! Mmmm mmmm!!

Whaoh! Whaoh! Whaoh!

I have still not recovered from this amazing scorching hot novel! Fortunately, it's summer and I had an excuse to fan myself or unbutton my shirt... If not, I would have melted from mere words!

I really liked the style and sensuality released by Christine d'Abo in "Sexcapades", so I've decided to throw myself on her erotic series "The Long Shots."

The synopsis of this first volume made my temperature raise a few fahrenheit by only letting me imagine Sadie's and Paul's amorous adventures. Especially, knowing that the woman's fantasy was having a third partner to sensually devour.

By meeting Josh's eyes, Paul's partner in Mavericks, a libertine club, Sadie knows that her fantasy can become something elese than a dream...A reality!
A hot and sensual adventure, particularly well described, told with wild but tender emotions by Christine d'Abo.

Beyond the menage à trois, this story is full of sensuality. All the tale is about the discovery of the pleasures without taboo, without judgment, just acceptance of fantasies and desires by open partners.
But also a beautiful romance between two friends, who have never wanted to take the chance on acting on their attraction for fear of losing an incredible friendship. Sadie and Paul take a risk and try to combine friendship and love over time.
Sometimes you just have to get out of your comfort zone ...

Sadie has desired her best guy friend, Paul for years. With her life being busy with getting the catering portion of her family's business off the ground and Paul being busy with work and being on the board of directors for Mavericks, a local sex club, they don't spend much time together any more.

Paul is in charge of pulling together a party for Mavericks and instantly thinks of Sadie. This gives Paul the opportunity to get closer to Sadie. While they meet to discuss the party he asks her what her fantasy was and that he hoped she would share it with him. She eventually does, she wants a menage with Paul and the sexy owner of Mavericks, Josh.

What turns out to be a successful party, quickly turns to a heated night, the stuff that fantasies were made for. Sadie gets her wish. She also realizes that Paul wants her just as much as she wants him. But the night doesn't end up well. Jealously spoils the evening. Paul and Sadie ultimately have to decide what they want and have to figure out if it could be love.

Double Shot was an enjoyable shot story and I recommend it to other fans of erotic romance. I am looking forward to the other two books in the series. I assume they will be about Sadie's siblings, Ian and Paige.

I am torn with this one, I liked it, but there were aspects that annoyed me.

One was Sadie, she had no self confidence. It seemed like at every turn she was putting herself down. But then at the end she did a 180 and was very confident in herself, that didn't really match with what we had learned about her so far. I also hated the game of Sadie says. She had never been in a threesome before and they were making her take charge which seemed odd to me.

Another thing that drove me nuts was Paul's reaction, he was like a petulant child. Even when he came to apologize you could tell he didn't really want to.

With those things laid out it sounds like I didn't like the story, but that is not the case, I did. I loved the coffee shop atmosphere, which was in odds with the sex club, the two couldn't have been more different, in a good way. I loved the "boobs" the cake, it seemed to take on a life of it's own. I also loved the siblings relationships. I even liked Paul and Sadie together, their friendship was great, even if they were stupid in thinking the other wouldn't want anything to do with the other.

I look forward to checking out the others in this series.

Read my full review here: Quickie Review: Double Shot

This story started out as a fun, flirty story about two friends who each harbored feelings for the other. While there was a sexual undertone to the attraction, I couldn't help feel that the desire went much deeper. As Sadie discusses the details of the catering event she's just agreed to, her thoughts wander to all the possibilities and situations she can imagine with Paul and we see how deeply rooted her attraction to Paul is. Thinking about Paul's friend, Josh, just spices things up a bit.

I really did love this story. It was a classic tale with a naughty twist. Who can resist the story of long time friends and their venture into a romantic relationship? Throw a sex club, a Domination fetish and a threesome into the mix and things really take off.

A short book that poses two interesting questions- can a long-term friendship survive sex, and can a relationship survive with the addition of a third person to the bedroom?
This was a good story, though short. The build up of Paul and Sadie's relationship is full of tension and fun. I would have liked more story building around the three siblings, but for a short story what we got wasn't bad. They seem to have a fun, supportive relationship.
Paul's subtle challenging of Sadie's emotional boundaries by inviting her to cater a party at an upscale sex club is great. He uses her business ambitions to not only get her to open up but to spend time with her building up his own courage to tell her how he really feels.
I look forward to reading more about this family.

No ignore the star system,it was not that i didnt enjoy the book!It had an awesome threesum trio and super awesome sex between Sadie Paul and John .. It was just some other things that made feel annoyed and wondering..

Mostly its Sadie completely transformation from '' I am not able to do it even that i want'' to ''omfg i did it and i am used to it'' excuse me but i always thought there some development and stages from not be able to do it and doing it in the end.Or it is just me who thinks that?

And second the relationship between Paul and Josh.. I can understand they were very close friends and they stand to each other but there is something that bother me that between them there is more than going on and not just beeing simple friends ... It might be only me i guess

Started skimming @ 45%. Sadie was self-centered and had a low social IQ. Almost TSTL. She had a 10 year crush on her girlfriend's old boyfriend Paul. She did not date during that time and when she finally hooks up with him it was instant menage with his friend Josh. Yea right.

The book ended with Paul and Sadie together, but Paul and Josh were a stronger couple.

There are better romances and better PWP out there. This book fell through the cracks.

A good story that could have easily been longer and more fleshed out. The only other d'Abo book I've read had a bunch of angst so I was happy to see this is a straight forward friends to lovers story with a third thrown in. Extra points for a variety of sexual representation - gay, bi, straight, and possibly questioning/curious.

I must be somewhat jaded by books set in sex clubs because I didn't find this book incredibly hot like some other readers here have. However, I like the set up of the series, the characters, and the journey Sadie and Paul take in this shot book. Well written and enjoyable enough.

Double Shot by Christine D’Abo
* I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Sadie runs the Pulled Long coffee shop with her sister Paige and her brother Ian. She has wants them to expand into catering to increase their business but they have not been receptive to the idea. Now her friend Paul has provided her with the perfect opportunity to show them this is just what their business needs.

The challenge is to cater an event for eighty plus members of the exclusive Mavericks and come up with an erotic cake for the centerpiece. She has never been in a sex club before and she is not only nervous about being there but about the event itself. Paul expects her to share her fantasies with him; will she have the courage to share darkest desires with him?

Sadie is working hard with her family to make their coffee shop a success but her personal life is suffering. She has been in love with her best friend Paul since the moment he was introduced to her. Their timing has always been off and Sadie has been afraid to lose her best friend so they have never dated. Now she has the opportunity to show him how she feels if she’s willing to take the risk.

Paul feels the same way about Sadie and is determined to make her see him as a man, rather than a friend. He’s set the ball in motion with the help of Josh, owner of Maverick, now if he can get her to let go and enjoy herself after the party.

The chemistry between Paul and Sadie is obvious to everyone around them, except each other. Josh is a nice addition and the scene in the club was smokin’ hot. The secondary characters were important to the story and did not over shadow the main characters. I can’t wait to read Paige and Ian’s stories.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the other installments in the Long Shots series. I give Double Shot 4 Flaming Hearts.

Double Shot is a great introduction to the Long Shots series and left me keen to spend more time with the Long siblings. This is the story of middle sister Sadie who is the one in charge of the kitchen of the family cafe and catering business that they run together. We are also introduced to older sister Paige who is in charge of the business side of things and their younger brother Ian who is the coffee genius. Compared to her siblings Sadie has always considered herself the quiet one, she is happy to watch from the sidelines as they seek out the attention with their outrageous antics. Sadie has been friends with Paul for 10 years now and although she has always been attracted to him she has never even dreamed that he might share her interest. But when Paul hires her to cater an event at the exclusive sex club where he works things quickly start to heat up between them. Paul offers to help her fulfil her wildest fantasies but will Sadie dare to take a chance when she risks losing her best friend?

I'm a sucker for a friends to lovers story and this was no exception - I loved the chemistry between Sadie and Paul. I was surprised how easy it was to connect to the characters considering this was a novella and I thoroughly enjoyed watching things develop between them. Throw in Paul's very sexy boss Josh who happens to be the owner of Mavericks club into the mix and you're in for a very spicy threesome but will Paul and Sadie remain friends in the aftermath? Although the threesome takes place at the sex club there is no BDSM involved but you're still in for a very steamy read! I also enjoyed the relationship between Sadie, Ian and Paige and am going to enjoy getting to read both of their stories. Double Shot is highly recommended for when you're looking for a quick but naughty read.

Sadie owns a coffee and catering company with her two siblings, Paige and Ian. Working tirelessly, she has little time to date, but why would she when she has been in love for ten years with her friend, Paul. In need of a cater for a party his sex club, Mavericks is hosting, Paul turns to Sadie for help. While meeting, Paul asks Sadie about her fantasies, but she puts him off not wanting to ruin their friendship. Paul keep encouraging her to tell him, but can she show her deepest fantasy of a ménage?

This was a fun quick novella filled with the love that you hide because you don’t want to lose a friend. There is jealousy, but also a camaraderie that you don’t find often between men. Because it is so short, you don’t get to delve too deep into either of their lives, but especially Paul’s life. The entire book is from Sadie’s perspective so you never learn the thoughts and feelings of Paul except through what Sadie sees and hears. The one issue I have with this book was the assumptions. Paul assumes he knows what Sadie wants in a fantasy. He assumes he can give it. He spends so much time assuming things that you wonder if it would just be easier to ask her on a date.

The ménage is written well, but during the first part you don’t know if there is a D/s slant to it or just a group of people having a scene together. Sadie is clear (at least in her own mind) that while she finds both men attractive, only one is the one she wants to build a relationship with. The other man does not have a huge role in this book. You meet him twice and he is a good friend, but don’t get hung up that this is a love between three people, it isn’t.

It’s a short, nice, sweet book to read when you have only a few hours to yourself to read. Enjoyed it!

Sadie and Paul need to get their kink on! Still digesting before I write my official review.

Update

Friends becoming lovers is a storyline I am always leery of reading. Generally they end as friend with benefits and then fizz out. In this one, Sadie and Paul get their kink on! Sadie is the middle child in the Long family. The three siblings own a cool coffee shop which they are trying to run together. I love sibling stories and friends becoming lovers and family helping each other. Between these two themes, I'm in hog heaven with this first in the series.

Sadie has always crushed on Paul but never dared to take it further. Paul admired Sadie yet it was never the right time. Paul is part of the sex club - Mavericks. It's supposed to be a BDSM club, but for a BDSM club, there is quite a bit of sex and more booze than I'm used to. Plus there are so rich Dom's in this story which has me flagging it as glitterkink. Still, the light BDSM, specifically the voyeuristic scenes are tasty and had me humming in delight.

The story is short and sweet. There are no complicated conflicts and I enjoyed how the relationship progressed after almost a decade long of foreplay. What I enjoyed most about this book is how well developed Sadie was in this story. She is a distinctive character who I enjoyed reading about, even if I couldn't relate to her. She wasn't perfect nor was she a hot mess. She's like everyone else, struggling to make her dreams come true. Along the way, she lost her personal life and Paul comes in to remind her that there is more to life than work. The two of them create some hot sparks that I happily would watch at the club. I recommend this book to kinky romance lovers who love friends becoming more.

Sadie is the owner off a coffee shop along with her brother and sister in Toronto Queer West District, same block as Mavericks, a sex club where Paul, has friends and visits quite a lot. Sadie has been dreaming about Paul for long ten years, and never thought he would ever see her as more than just friends. They first met throught Rachel, Paige best friend who at the time was dating a friend of Paul, indulging in the scene.

After some time without a girlfriend and not really enjoying the scene at the moment, Paul started to second guess his choices, so when Josh, owner of Mavericks and one off Paul's pals, hints that he's relationship with Sadie may be more than a friendship things take a different turn.

Paul invites Sadie to do a bakery job in one off Mavericks party's and decides to junp the bridge off jus a relationship on her territory. Loved the fact that he's very sutil, asking simple questions first about her desires, making her more hot and steamy day by day.

When Paul asked for a special thing, a cake of a women torso's, I didn't though nothing off it, but it became really fun when Ian, Sadie brother, named it Boobs.

I liked the fact that the story is played from Sadie POV, and since is her first time in the scene her thoughts and fellings changes everythig, especially since she has loved Paul for a long time. Loved how Paul really gives in to the moment not really caring for rules, just felling and following on insticts. And Josh, who was picked as the third knows exactly what to do in the scene and with Paul afterwards for th benefit of a relationship with Sadie after that night.
