A special kind of book. A compilation of short essays and poetry and even just a few paragraphs of comments from the protesters at the Russian Embassy in Dublin. Just thoughts of regular Irish people who stand with Ukraine because they care about freedom and they know what it’s like to be oppressed by a neighbour. This book was found in a bookstore while travelling in Ireland and all the proceeds go to charity 💛 Not sure if you can order this book online or buy outside of Ireland, but to me - a Ukrainian - it was so touching that I have to leave it here. Thank you for the support.

Voices of Solidarity: Essays and Poems from the Frontline

'We Stand With Ukraine' is a poignant and inspiring collection of essays and poems penned by fifty individuals who have come together to protest against Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. This anthology captures the strength and determination of these front-line protestors at the Russian Embassy in Dublin, highlighting the power of human solidarity in the face of adversity.

Each contribution is a testament to the unwavering commitment of these protestors in advocating for a better world. Through peaceful protests and daily pickets, they have made their voices heard, and this book allows readers to delve into their personal stories, showcasing their courage and tenacity. I was moved by the raw emotions and honesty expressed in each essay and poem.

The anthology is a powerful account of activism and bravery and a source of inspiration for those who wish to make a difference. It serves as a reminder of the importance of taking action and standing up for what is right, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges. It also encourages readers to find their voice and harness the power of the human spirit to create change.

The fact that all royalties from the sale of this book will be donated to Ukrainian Action, a not-for-profit organization that aids Ukrainians in need and fosters Irish-Ukrainian friendship is another commendable aspect of this publication. I gained insight into the experiences of these protestors while contributing to a worthy cause.

'We Stand With Ukraine' is an important and timely work that showcases the power of unity and the resilience of the human spirit. It is a must-read for anyone interested in activism, human rights, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

I read the entries day by day, and the originality of this book really struck me. It isn’t a traditional narrative—it feels like a living archive. The mix of poems, diary-style reflections, and snapshots from protests gives it a raw, immediate quality, as if you’re standing right there in the crowd. That variety is exactly what makes it so powerful.

As a Ukrainian, I’m genuinely thrilled that this book exists. Céad míle buíochas to everyone involved in bringing it to life, and to the community of protestors whose voices fill its pages. From personal experience, it’s moving to think that I may have once stood among these very people at protests—sharing the same ground, the same frustration, the same hope.

I think of this community of protestors every time I pass the area of the ruzzian embassy which is draped in Ukrainian flags.

Another wonderful aspect of this publication is that all royalties go to Ukrainian Action, a not-for-profit organisation supporting Ukrainians in need and fostering Irish–Ukrainian friendship. It felt meaningful to gain insight into the experiences of this group of protestors while also contributing to a worthy cause.

I actually found this book completely by accident at a Dublin bookshop checkout, but it deserves far more attention—and I’ll be sharing it widely!

Слава Україні! 🇺🇦

An inspiring book of hope and what can be achieved when the oppressed stand together with those who would help. On our own, we feel we can do little, but when gathered as one voice this book shouts to the world. It is wonderfully edited and care has gone into the contributions and collective work. Powerful and thought-provoking reading.
