I learned just what language was acceptable in 1975/6 when these sketches were first penned.

Although some stories in this collection were funny, and some highly inventive, and the attitudes described were done either ironically or to poke fun at the attitude-holder rather than the described person/group, I found it very hard to get beyond the words and descriptions of almost every minority one could imagine.

This reminded me of the 70s attitudes in a way that Life On Mars did.

And (by the author's own and immediate admission), there was nothing about golfing.

Or Cats

At least, with the word CAT in the title, it allows me to get another 10 points on the Fall 2009 Challenge

The occasionally very funny writer and Punch editor was once told by his publisher that the best-selling books tended to be about golf, cats or World War II. The first edition of Coren's next collection duly appeared looking like this:

Marked DNF because I never read the book. I figured it couldn't outdo the cover.

Very funny and surprising how much of it sounds like it could have been written much more recently.
