On the trail of murder Life has changed for TV journalist and intuitive sleuth Elizabeth Danniher. But one thing hasn't changed -- murder still creeps down the road to Sherman, Wyoming. Elizabeth’s life is taking another major turn, and her Caught Dead in Wyoming fellow investigators discover what’s over the horizon in each of their lives.
USA Today bestselling author Patricia McLinn’s novels—cited by reviewers for warmth, wit and vivid characterization – have won numerous regional and national awards and been on national bestseller lists.
In addition to her romance and women’s fiction books, Patricia is the author of the Caught Dead in Wyoming mystery series, which adds a touch of humor and romance to figuring out whodunit.
Patricia received BA and MSJ degrees from Northwestern University. She was a sports writer (Rockford, Ill.), assistant sports editor (Charlotte, N.C.) and—for 20-plus years—an editor at the Washington Post.
She has spoken about writing from Melbourne, Australia to Washington, D.C., including being a guest-speaker at the Smithsonian Institution. She is now living in Northern Kentucky, and writing full-time. Patricia loves to hear from readers through her website, Facebook, Goodreads, and Twitter.
TV reporter Elizabeth Danniher and Tom have sent out their wedding invitations and one would think that would be the most important thing on Elizabeth’s mind. But when she and videographer Diane are sent to a dude ranch on a story, the murder of quiet ranch hand Keefer compels Elizabeth to assemble her team of friends to investigate. The victim had been looking forward to seeing what his own DNA revealed about the identity of his father and a family he never knew. There is a strong theme of fatherhood in the book, from Tom and his irascible father to two suspects and their fathering styles. The book will stand alone, but the series is too good not to go back and read the other books.
This series of books is excellent! Cue up is no different and is an excellent story. You get a history lesson on well known robbers such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Just a side to the main story. The main character is doing some DNA testing because he might be related to a well known bank robber from the past and then there is the story about one of his loot from such a robbery was buried on a place near Cottonwood County. We have the usual murder with a twist. A dog mourning for its owner and then there is the whole wedding of Elizabeth and Tom. Couple of surprising twists but a book which will keep your interest until the end. Looking forward to the next book because there should be a wedding!
Not quite as engaging as the previous books, possibly because an issue was raised with one of the "core" characters and not, to my understanding, resolved. It may come to a head in a later installation of the series, I'll have to see. I also would never call groping a woman "cuddling," so I was very confused as to which character to believe on the "she said" vs "she said." But they caught the bad guy and their lives are moving forward.
I love this series! CUE UP starts slow (after all, there’s a lot of story to catch up with), catches its breath, and then jumps in with both feet. Voila! We’re back in little Sherman, Wyoming, with E.M. Danniher and the gang trying to sniff out a murderer. The mystery is well plotted and tricky. The characters are vibrantly alive with real feelings, opinions, strengths, and faults. Enjoy!
Another mystery to solve. Not the fever pitch of other Wyoming novels for TBE crew to solve. It is a history lesson and statement of culture of the West. Everything works out nicely for everyone, including the dog.
Have read all 14 books in this series. Fun characters entertain while putting their minds together to solving mysterious circumstances. Several twists and turns but led by E.M. Danniher, who is also preparing for her wedding, they get their answers.
I loved it from start to finish. It kept me guessing and I can say it is one of Patrick's best. I won't spoil the ending for those who haven't readit, but well done Patricia, well done. I'm already looking forward to the next book.
