Firsts in the City #2

That First Date

Rate this book
My new boss has lost his mind.

Marc Ford is everything that I’m not. He wants a long term relationship that leads to marriage and a house full of kids, but I want nothing to do with being tied down to someone. In fact, I have never been in a relationship in my life.

But then he approaches me with a plea to be his fake fiancé because his boss wants someone in an established relationship to pass down ownership of the real estate agency we work for.

I don’t know how he expects me to spend the summer pretending we’re a happily engaged couple.

We’re opposites in every way that counts.

I told myself this would be easy because I don’t catch feelings and I’m a pro at keeping things casual. We both agreed to the rules. Except, things started to feel all too real, even on That First Date .

** That First Date is a steamy, fake dating romance that is sure to make you laugh out loud and blush at the same time. This book is intended for mature readers only. This is a stand-alone and can be read on it's own. For a list of potential triggers, please visit the author's website.

Swoon worthy quote: I’d rather do this complicated chaos with you than do easy with someone else.”
LOL worthy quote: “First of all, it’s not a stress ball. It’s called stress putty.” I toss it over to him and he catches it despite being caught off guard. “More specifically a dill dough.” I DIED LAUGHING

Marc finds himself in a predicate when going after the CEO position of the real estate company he works for... The boss wants an established man in ther with a steady relationship.... & Marc has the bright idea to ask his assistant Avery to fill that spot... it was supposed to be one night but that turned into a summer thing and from the beginning Marc just knew there was something about Avery that would be his undoing.

She has three rules No kissing, No others, No falling in love.... can he stick to those rules?

I have no words... THIS. BOOK. WAS. A. WORK. OF. ART.
The banter.
The tension.
The spice.
THE FREAKING RULES!
Everything about it I loved there literally wasn't a single thing I would change.

I truly have never felt so connected to a FMC as I have with this book. I literally feel like I'm Avery always being told I'm too loud, to out there, too crazy just to find a man that mellows me.
I mean THIS QUOTE embodies it perfectly
"she’s a wildcard. A ticking time bomb if you will. The girl has no filter and a dirty mouth. She’s about five foot four with a six-foot five attitude on her."

The way Marc just took care of her. IM SO GONE FOR IT. When she's sick? he cancels everything. When she's menstruating? he takes care of everything. & how freaking patient he is with her through all her deep seeded trauma with her dad leaving I FELT THAT. & MARC He's perfect parts grumpy and gone for her & the way he just KNEW she would be his undoing WAS MY UNDOING.

I probably could keep going and if I knew me saying more would get you to read this book than I would talk forever but lemmmme leave you with this.
A DESK SCENE.
A WINDOW SCENE.
& Spice in the first 10%.
ALSOOOOOO she does it ✨herself✨ and has him WATCH ugh. i cant.

I feel like that's all ya needa know. lol.

Those Ford brothers are 🔥🥵 and Marc just might be my new favorite. The way I ATE. THIS. UP.

Avery loves the single life and she’s the FUN, carefree friend. She doesn’t do relationships; she doesn’t want to be tied down to any man. So when her boss Marc approaches her asking (really begging) for her to be his fake fiancé for the summer so he can impress his boss and gain ownership of the real estate company, she thinks he’s lost his damn mind. She finally agrees BUT sets some ground rules: 1. NO kissing. 2. No dating anyone else. 3. “Do NOT fall in love with me.” Well, let’s just guess what ends up
happening…

The banter and tension between these two was top-tier. 👏🏽 Marc is such a super-swoony man who swooped in and TOOK CARE OF OUR GIRL. Every girl deserves a man like that! He had his grumpy moments but trust me, they didn’t last long and Avery didn’t let him off the hook; she went tit for tat with him and he couldn’t stand it 🤣
They were both each other’s undoing and I lived for their story.

To top it off, Jenn went THERE with the spicy scenes 🫡 WHEW CHIL’. The scenes: Hot like fire. If you remember in book 1 (That First Date we get action RIGHT AWAY) well this is NO different. 🫠 I IMMEDIATELY messaged her when I finished and asked where one would find Marc (asking for a friend, obvi. 💁🏽‍♀️🤭)

I can’t wait to read MORE in this series…there’s gonna be more, right @jennmcmahonauthor ?! Preorder this baby NOW!

A big thank you to the editor and the author for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Don’t ask me what I liked about this book.
Ask me what I didn’t like, my answer will be shorter : nothing.

Marc and Avery have this amazing chemistry going on throughout the entire book, the tension is crazy, the way their feelings develop, their reactions..
they both have trauma regarding love, for very different reasons, and how this is handled in the book is really good.
I loved the spice, it was chefs kiss all the way. THE MOUTH OF THESE PEOPLE OMG, dirty talkers for the win, and these two are gold-medal winners.

It was light, funny, I had butterflies fluttering in my belly, and I just had so much fun reading this book and learning more about these two.
They’re officially my favorite couple from this series.

4 stars! This is that one book that, every once in a while, leaves you feeling happy. Each character captured my heart because of how relatable and entertaining they were.

I didn't know there was a previous book when I started this one. My eyes were opened, and now I must read the first book to learn more about Thomas Ford, an intriguing character.

Marcus Ford is amazing, in any case. He is currently my ideal partner. When he said that although he preferred dogs, he acquired a cat after falling in love with it, that was the one thing that made me squeal. I love this because I love cats. Another instance is when he goes above and beyond to get Avery supplies to ease her period. This man is incredible.

Avery had a great sense of humor. I can compare her to a few of my friends. It's a great thing to have happened since it creates a connection between my pals and the fictional people I read about and their friends.

This book was just amazing so please read it!!

Wow 🥵🥵 The hot Ford brothers are back!! I loved Thomas and Peyton’s story in Jenn’s debut novel, That First Date. I loved Marc and Avery’s story just as much! Avery loves the single life. She has never been in a relationship. She is Marc’s assistant. When Marc needs to prove that he is a family man in order to be handed down a company he asks Avery for help. I loved the fake dating, forced proximity, the banter and the steam 🥵 This book had all the spice 🌶️ and I devoured it!! Congrats Jenn on another amazing book!! I cannot wait for book #3!!!!

I loved the first book but I devoured this one!!

This one had so many of my favourite tropes!! Fake Dating, a sassy female lead and a billionaire male lead who cannot stand each other but have to constantly see each other in the workplace and spicee.

Marc was a dream. He was so sweet and so swoony. He always wanted a family and his caring gestures had me down bad for him. He was so so thoughtful and I can't with his dirty mouth.

Avery was a diva. She was so sassy, and always spoke her mind. She was outspoken but had a soft vulnerable side that she showed to only a selected few. She was such a softie inside and just wanted somebody to love her unconditionally. I loved her personality and I wanna be friends with her.

Marc and Avery cannot stand each other in the office but when they start fake dating for Marc's boss, it seems all too real. They can't stop touching each other, cannot keep their eyes from the other and have so much sexual chemistry. The angst was so hot. There were equal amounts of sweet and cute and spicy moments which I absolutely loved. From fake to real, they had so much understanding for the other person and I am so in love with them.

The writing was so easy and captured me from the start. I couldn't stop reading this one. The story had hints about the next books and I absolutely cannot wait to read more about the Ford Siblings.

♡ “My wife”

Avery Woods and Marc Ford I LOVE YOU!!!!! Of course I had to finally read their story before the third book came out and holy macaroni it was good! The thing about Jenn’s books is that you just fly through them so easily, since they are so enjoyable, entertaining and always gets you hooked from the get go. And who doesn’t love a good fake dating/fake fiancée romance?

Marc is so close to becoming the new CEO of the company he works at, but there’s one catch. His boss wants a family man and since Marc is single, he asks his assistant, which also is his sister in law’s best friend Avery, to help him out for a night as his fiancée. 6 months later, what only was suppose to be a one night occurrence, turns into a summer of being fake engaged and this only happens to pull them closer together…

Avery is such a delight, like she’s just so likable. She’s very considerate and independent. But she also struggles with the idea of commitment, since her dad wasn’t the best role model. But all that changes with one person, her boss and fake fiancé. Marc is a full on relationship type of guy and wants nothing more than to have a wife and kids and I’m convinced that energy only could have gotten to Avery, since how hard she fell for him. I love this universe so much and the girl group with Avery, Peyton, Kali and Emiline? I LOVE THEM.

OH MY GOD!! Where do I even begin????!!!! PLSSS first of all, Jenn! MISS GIRL! What did you put in this book? Crack? Yes, I very much think so bc WOW! 😭❤️ I loved every single second of this beautiful story!

I fell in love with Jenn’s writing in her debut novel, and even more so in this book! There’s just something so wholesome and warm that Jenn brings out with her characters and her stories. It feels like a hug and I can confidently say they’ve become comfort books for me!

GAHH!! UGH I absolutely swooned over this book, I was so invested since the first book after reading the teasers for Marc and Avery, but as I was reading I couldn’t help giggling after every page, the butterflies were soaring in my stomach at some of the things Marc would say! AND THE SPICE!! OMG Jenn outdid herself with this one! Absolutely phenomenal, ugh I loved it so much!!!

I cannot wait for Oliver’s book next!!🤭🤭

Firstly thank you so much Jenn McMahon for this arc.
I absolutely devoured this book. The main characters, the side characters, the story everything was absolute perfection! I loved that first night but this one was another level. Jenn has now become a auto buy author for me now.

Avery has become one of my favourite FMC. She’s such a strong fierce woman. I loved that she doesn’t need a man. And Marc, he’s such a grumpy billionaire that I know you will love too. I mean what’s not to love, a hot billionaire with a filthy mouth do I need to say anymore?

If you haven’t read that first night add it to your tbr, then immediately read this.

Ughhh I’m such a sucker for a good fake dating!!! 🫠🫠

I really enjoyed the second book in this series! 😍The banter, the sexual tension, the friendships and siblings, the text chats, the humour and of course all that delicious spice made it such a joy to read!!

So happy that Marc and Avery realize the love that they are both worthy of and how they navigated through their challenges together❤️ Marc’s acts of services had me swooning big time and Avery is just so damn lucky but also deserving of him!!

A shout out to Logan and Emiline, I think they’re hilarious and their desire to infuriate the Ford brothers had me laughing so damn much! ❤️ I also relate so much to Emiline so I think I have a really soft spot for her 🥹

I like the storyline and it hits on several fun tropes, but there are just so many problems with the writing.

The amount of misplaced commas and incomplete sentences in this book is astronomical. I definitely don’t expect perfection form indie published books, but this needs some serious work. I just find it so hard to believe that no beta readers have noticed or mentioned these issues.

On top of that, it feels like the author tried to put lines in the book that would catch the attention of Booktok even if they didn’t quite work in the moment. The book reads like it’s more about the tropes and the “good girl” lines than it is about the story. I just didn’t really feel like the author loved these characters and that makes a big difference in how the story comes across.

I will definitely keep reading the series because I enjoy the characters and story enough to do it, but I hope the author takes and listens to criticism!

MARC & AVERY, MARC & AVERY!! I loved them!!
This book was so good. I am a complete sucker for a good "fake dating/fake marriage" trope and this one hit the nail on the head. It was so good and I was super impressed at the writing in it. Jenn is a new to me author and Im so glad I found her books.

Marc Ford is a typical billionaire - well maybe not your typical one because he is still working and not just drinking whiskey in his mansion. (anyways) - he is in a sticky situation when his long time boss and mentor tells him he's retiring and is ready to leave the company he works for to either him, or another employee... the only problem is, he wants to leave it to a "family man". To Marc's disappointment- he isn't a family man, even though thats all he ever wants to be (TOTAL SWOON). He's a hopeless romantic. He has to win this company, and what better way than to have his assistant be fake engaged to him?

Avery Woods is a SPIT FIRE. Can I say that again?? She is FREAKING HILARIOUS- and takes NO ONE's CRAP... especially not her bosses.. who happens to also be her best friends brother in law. When he calls needing a favor, she is shocked when she needs to be his pretend fiancee, but, Avery is a team player and as long as she gets what she wants... and he doesn't break any of her 3 rules- they will be golden. Only problem is- one of the rules is dont fall in love with me... and did I mention Marc is a hopeless romantic with a Dom side? This Is Averys kryptonite.

Avery has built up some pretty big walls against never loving a man. I really enjoyed the story line between Avery and her mom. It shows how she stepped up to be a good mother, even as the only parental figure Avery had. I think more people than not struggle with all the things Avery did in the book, and Jenn wrote it on paper perfectly.

GREAT READ.

what to expect:
🪻workplace romance
🪻fake engagement
🪻boss x assistant
🪻opposites attract

🪻grumpy x sunshine

First of all thankyou so much to the author agency and jenn for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review. This is book 2 in the first in the city series, and it did not disappoint!

I’m a sucker for the fake dating trope and i ate this one up. Marc and Avery are the definition of opposites attract.

Marc Ford is the mmc who is a grumpy boss, he finds himself needing to fake an engagement in order to be given the CEO role of the company he’s working at. An impulsive decision finds himself asking his assistant Avery to be his fake fiancé for the summer.

Avery set 3 rules:
1. No kissing
2. No seeing other people
3. Don’t fall in love with me

Thing is, Mark is the guy who would most importantly break the last rule. Can they both resist feelings and fake it? Or will real feelings develop?

The tension, the SPICE, the found family, the friendships we’re just perfection 🤌🏼, this was one of my most anticipated book releases, and let me tell you it’s all worth the hype!

Everything was perfect! I just wish we could’ve seen Peyton and Thomas’s wedding. I was so excited for it and then there was a flash foward after the wedding and we never got to see it. Other than that I loved this book!

If you’re wanting to pick this one up then i’d recommend you read “That First Night” first as it’s better for the timeline and you get to know Thomas Ford and Peyton first 🫶🏼

It’s official…the Ford brothers are total swoon worthy!! ☺️

This second book in The First in the City series was just as good as the first; That First Night. 👌🏼

Marc Ford is the brother of Thomas Ford from That First Night. He is a billionaire real-estate god who is trying to impress his boss by being a family man in hopes to be handed down the company he works for. One problem…he doesn’t have is a wife. So he approaches Avery, his assistant & Peyton’s best friend from That First Night about being his fake fiancé for the summer.

Little does she know her summer is about to completely change her life in ways she never thought would EVER happen.

🌶️ All the spice
🌶️ Swoon upon swoon upon swoon
🌶️ Workplace romance
🌶️ Enemies to lovers
🌶️ Billionaire trope
🌶️ He falls first

Overall I enjoyed every page. Quick chapters and hilarious banter. I caught myself blushing several times too….phew the heat between Marc & Avery HOT! Also, Avery is one badass, strong woman. It was the perfect beach read too! Marc Ford might be a new favorite book boyfriend ☺️ You simply need to meet him! 🥰

This is the second book in the series and I’m obsessed! I loved Avery and Marc and I loved the story line!

Avery is fun, she’s caring and is single and not looking for a serious relationship. So when her boss Marc Ford approaches her to be his fake fiancé to help him get the company he is trying to win off his boss, she agrees for one night. But one night wasn’t enough, so when she is asked to do it all over again for the whole summer, she reluctantly said yes, but with rules. 1. No kissing. 2. No seeing other people. 3. No falling in love with her. Well you can imagine how that went.

- Workplace Romance 🏙
- Boss x Assistant 🔥
- Fake Engagement 💍
- Grumpy x Sunshine 🌞😠
- Duel POV 👩‍❤️‍👨

Marc Ford. Woah. A grumpy, hot, realestate man, ummmm sign me up! But in all seriousness, he knew what he wanted and he went for it! He chased what he wanted. And I’m so glad he broke the last rule Avery set! He deserved his happiness and I’m glad he found it I’m Avery.

Avery, you fun, sassy QUEEN! Avery is definitely my favourite so far. I just love her. She takes no shit, she can take a joke and god she so reliable. I relate to he, I really do. She is loud, crazy (in a good way) and is just pure happiness with people she adores. And her daddy issues, babe, we must be the EXACT same person, I feel her pain around her dad and I can see where she was coming from.

The tension and the banter, the friendships(girl gang be popping off!), the push and pull, the spice, the rules, uhggg it was excellent. I was happy to see the others back as well, I missed the other characters! I loved their connection and their feelings. I loved them in general and I really enjoyed this book. The story line was perfect and I was obsessed from the start. 💍🏙

Marc and Avery were a lot of fun to read! I enjoyed their banter and their chemistry. I loved how the spice was spicing earlyyyy in this one, and it was needed! These two fought their connection hard so I loved knowing how explosive they were in the bedroom (supply closet?) to keep me on the hook. Fake dating is a favorite trope of mine, so I was excited to dive in.

I was also delighted to have a moment at the end that made me a little bit surprised- the twist didn't totally get me, but just enough to leave me chuckling. I appreciated that little anecdote a lot! Otherwise, it was quite predictable and a bit redundant at times. The banter was great, but there were moments where Avery and Marc fought it too hard. I would have preferred them to lean into their emotions a bit more and embrace the situation they were in. Like, Avery didn't have to immediately be annoyed that they were going away for the mountain trip. Lean in, girlfriend!

Overall, it was cute. It was fun. It was better written than its predecessor! I'm excited for Oliver's mystery girl to pop up, and I liked the ending.

Marc and Avery- whew the fiery banter! I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did only because this trope isn’t usually a fave of mine, but it completely worked for me. There was so much growth from both characters and I absolutely loved the side characters’ interactions too! I couldn’t wait for book 3, review coming soon for that one!

“I’m going to head home. But I’ll say it again for you to understand...I’m not going anywhere. I’d rather do this complicated chaos with you than do easy with someone else.”

“Let me go through this with you. Let me carry some of that fear. Let me show you that you never have to worry about me doing that to you. I’m all in with you.”

“I don’t feel like I deserve you, you know. And what it boils down to is that I want to. I want to be worthy of whatever you have to give me. And you shouldn’t have to put up with someone who is living a life scared of the possibility of you walking out. You shouldn’t have to wake up every single day trying to prove it to me either.”

This is book 2 in the Firsts In The City series and I am in love with Avery and Mark!! This book is about a grumpy boss who needs a fake fiancé and relationship to show his boss that Mark is worthy of taking over the company and is a family man.
Avery is a wild child who is vocal about her life. She’s also Marks assistant and fake fiancé. As the story goes on they start developing real feelings and falling in love. Ahh so good I am 🫠❤️. The chemistry and banter is top notch and the girl group in this book is amazing!!

I ate this book up❣️

After finishing Thomas and Peyton’s story, I was ready for Marc and Avery to make their appearance.

Avery is your ever independent, outgoing, tells it like it is type of girl. I love a blunt and fierce FMC, and Avery is exactly that.

Marc is our swoon worthy, passionate, loving MMC and the grumpy to Avery’s sunshine.

There are so many aspects of this book that I love, but let me make a little list😆
- the spice 🔥
- the banter 📢
- fake fiancé trope 💍
- forced proximity 🛏️

I also loved that we get to see how all of the other characters are doing in the series! Although I don’t love waiting for the next book in a series to debut😅, I love that we get a glimpse into the lives of Marc’s brothers and Avery’s best friends.

I’m patiently awaiting Oliver’s story (Marc’s younger and more free-spirited brother) since Jenn left us with that cliff hanger 😂😉… but I think I just might know who Oliver is going to fall for 🤭

I knew after reading That First Night that I would dive right into That First Date. What I didn’t know, was that I would LOVE Marc Ford in a truly, madly, deeply way. WTFFF.
Guys- grumpy vs grumpy, office romance, billionaire flippin’ swoon fest. I cannot tell you how devastated I am that this is over. I want to read it again for the first time. I tried to savour it but I couldn’t put it down. The spice was all that open door goodness I crave and the chemistry and banter was next level. I also love Jenn’s ability to write side characters you fall in love with along the way!!!!

My spicy billionaire romance lovers NEED to grab this one. It’s out August 25th- but pre-order it NOW! And if you haven’t read That First Night yet get on it. You’re missing out.

HUGE thank you to @theauthor.agency and @jennmcmahon.author for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I cannot wait for what you toss at us next

Marc and Avery are just the cutest. I love her fiery personality and his love of love. They are the definition of opposites attract. Faking an engagement is pretty easy when you have the chemistry these two have. @jennmcmahon.author knows how to write the perfect romance novel with a killer plot. I adored how you were able to get follow up about Peyton and Thomas from the first book because I couldn’t wait to hear how their story continued.

Again there was no cringy spice. It was spicy don’t get me wrong but it was spice that did it’s job IYKYK 😉

Thank you @theauthor.agency for the #gifted ARC 💕 sign me up for the rest of the books in this series. Hopefully there are more because I need Logan and Emaline. Also Oliver too because I saw that cliffhanger coming!

Dare I say this, but I loved this book even more than the first one! I feel like somehow the spice was elevated (that closet scene) and this couple’s chemistry was off the charts!

The MCs are perfection. I loved that the FMC was the hesitant one and the MMC fell first and man did he fall hard. While this was a fake dating/engagement trope, there was nothing fake between these two.

The spice was great. It didn’t take over the plot, but really enhanced the connection between the two characters. I thought book one was spicy, but this one really was amped it up and it was delicious!

I was a fan after book one, but this book solidifies that I am a @jenn reading fan for life. If she writes it, I am reading it!

Another book that Jenn absolutely SLAYED!

“𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗜 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀.”

This book had everything and more I could've possibly wanted. We get spice, sassiness, sweet moments, fake dating and MARC FORD!

Marc and Avery are the PERFECT couple! We met them in That First Night and I have been dying for their book. Marc and Avery agree to be 'engaged' to both benefit each other. Marc will get the business he has always wanted and Avery gets to fulfil her dream of being a real estate agent.

"𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲, 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀."

I love that at first both Marc and Avery deny their feelings but eventually come to an agreement and its a spicy one!
𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘣 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘣𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘥, 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨

I honestly love the way that Marc describes Avery -- 𝙄𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄’𝙫𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙… 𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙮 𝘼𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝘼𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮. 𝙎𝙝𝙚’𝙨 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙝𝙚’𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛. 𝙉𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙪𝙥 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙧 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚, 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙘𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨.

Avery was so determined that she wasn't going to fall for Marc's charm but he slowly worked his way through her walls.

𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝘂𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝗲

This book was fantastic! Avery and Marc were opposites that found a magnetic attraction they couldn't deny.

When Marc needs help with his boss, his assistant Avery is the first person he thinks to help him. His request: pretend to be his fiancée.

But when things become real and feelings become involved, Avery and Marc must decide how to deal with the new rules.

I loved the banter in this book. Avery and Marc were so witty, and I loved seeing them volley back and forth. And the forehead kisses and care Marc showed Avery was perfect. Their chemistry and relationship felt real, and the growth felt natural.

The cameos of Thomas and Peyton, Logan and Emiline, Kali, and Oliver also added to the enjoyment of the story (the girl'sgroup chat is the BEST), and seeing the hints of future stories makes me excited for what's to come!
