The Quiet Mind: Sayings of White Eagle

Rate this book
White Eagle's teaching is an inspirational, spiritual message bringing great encouragement and a clearer understanding of human purpose. The understanding and love which the teaching embodies, finds its roots in the Ancient Wisdom and, therefore, contains a distillation of elements from many religions and spiritual teachers, including Christianity, Eastern Religions and Native American wisdom. However, White Eagle's 'voice' is timeless and the depth of awareness and explanation, as well as advice, resonates strongly with the needs and challenges of our modern lives. Therefore, much of the material in the publications is not only philosophical, but provides us with ways of approaching all aspects of life in a practical, as well as spiritual, way. This famous collection of White Eagle sayings has already sold over 400,000 copies. Following the Master within' is the theme for the sayings in this book. This pocket-sized book seems to touch people from all persuasions at the heart level (nearly half a million copies have been sold). The sayings are not intellectual statements so much as themes for further reflection - themes that give deep comfort and encouragement. White Eagle's gentle words help the reader hear the voice of his or her own heart. Each saying gives guidance on how to bring peace and harmony into our lives. The secret of strength lies in the "Quiet Mind". This much-loved book of spiritual guidance is now available in paperback.

==A little powerful collection of spiritual gems==

The White Eagle Lodge is a low key, obscure metaphysical organization, centred in Hampshire, England, having pockets of adherents and branches worldwide. These words were inspired by the entity White Eagle through Grace Cooke. But, although some would call these messages channelled there is nothing spooky or incomprehensively esoteric here. There is nothing fear-inducing or compulsively cultish about White Eagle. The gentle spirit that comes through these words conveys universally applicable guidance that is Christ-like, meditatively Buddhist, and always inclusive.

This wallet sized book was first issued in 1972 and has since been reprinted dozens of times. Obviously hundred of thousands have found comfort and inspiration therefrom. Here are a few of the gems: "Pray, `Lead me, Heavenly Father, show me the way.' But it is no good appearing calm outwardly while remaining a seething volcano inwardly. You must develop inner calm. Daily seek for that still centre within your soul which is the abiding place of the Christ spirit." (p 39) "If you want to get a clear picture of any condition in life, don't try to see things with you nose on them! See them from the highest point, from the plane of spirit, and you will be surprised at how different you problems look." (p 62) "The wise man does not argue, he remains silent and goes quickly on his path, concerned only with learning to follow in the footsteps of his Master." (p 26

I picked this book up off the bookshelf in my University's linguistics department. I was kicking around, waiting for an appointment with a department head next door, and this slim volume caught my attention. I had just been through a trying ordeal and was quietly questioning everything I thought I had known to be real. I flipped through the pages and read reassuring words lovingly rendered that made me think this book was an instant treasure. I needed to hear what it had to say and so asked if I could borrow it. As it turns out, I am the first student to borrow a book from the linguistics department!

As I walked out of the building with my nose buried in it, I realized that nothing and nobody can be expected to be perfect, but that is what we all strive to be, and maybe, with one another's help, we can reach it one day. This book made me aware that our spiritual brothers and sisters are no strangers to what we go through daily, and that they come close to help us in our times of need, often without us knowing. There are words of inspiration, reassurance, simple admonition. This is a perfect (or near-perfect) inspirational book for those whose worlds are embroiled in chaos.

Found this book while going through my late mother's things. She clearly loved it--there were a number of notes in it. It wasn't really my thing, but I get it. Years ago, I spent some time in the rooms of a couple of 12-step programs. A slogan I was actually fond of was "Let Go and Let God". That was the essence of this book, stated in numerous ways. I related to some, but it was a lot.

It encourages readers to be loving, kind, tolerant, and patient in all circumstances so not bad content but it has a classical failure of mentioning what without any why and how, as a result, it's totally useless if you keep faith out of consideration.

Found it randomly in a bookstore while visiting London. I enjoyed it overall and I really liked some of the wisdoms in it. Also found lots of parallels to islamic teaching.

This will forever be tagged as a "currently reading" book. While some religious devotees might carry the Bible with them, I like to identify myself as a spiritual devotee and this mini book often calms my mind on hectic, stressed out, sad days. (When I say little, it's just that---smaller than an index card so it goes everywhere with me.) It is divided into sections so you can easily skip around and read a short passage based on how you're feeling or what you're needed at the moment. Highly recommend!

There are many simple truths in this text, the author offers you bite size tidbits of spiritual enlightenment, comfortably mixed with faithful logic. This book is the easiest of reads, nothing will bowl you over. It is like having your faith gently and continuously washed and lapped upon the shores of your soul and mind, serenely and gently, over and over again - like a returning tide. The kind of book to carry in your pocket or purse, to be read in tired or tried moments of reprise.

profound little book of wisdom. Just substitute the word "God" with "love"

In my experience, there are only 2 things I currently believe in: Love and Creatity. With these two forces, you can create worlds, universes, multi-verses, etc...

This world is truly an amazing place to be - filled to the top with well-being and abundance. Enjoy your life.

Stay in the Now.

A small book of short verses on wisdom and how to live a life of peace. It's made more interesting because of the overlapping of Christian and Native American spititual philosophy.

There's nothing "Quiet" about this book. It is an exploration of higher views/inner work with a simplistic format. I am always picking it up... and putting it down!!
