From USA Today bestselling author Misty Walker comes a dark stepbrother MC romance.

I spent the first sixteen years of my life being told I was nothing, and I would’ve kept believing it if she hadn’t come around.

We were a family, and for two whole years, it was us against the world. I kept her safe from the devil, and she kept a hold on my will to live.

Then the day came when I had to leave her behind. It nearly killed me, and I’m sure she still hates me for it, but I had no choice. The devil demanded it.

Armed with the confidence she gave me, I started a new life. Thirteen years later, I’m the VP of the Sons of Erebus, launching a luxury brothel that’ll make my club some serious coin and give us the future we deserve.

I never forgot her, but I didn’t go looking either.

And I sure as hell never expected to see her walking through the doors at The Honey Pot Ranch looking for a job. But when our eyes meet, I know.

It’s her .

The little girl from my past is all grown up. Her mile-long legs, blonde hair, and skimpy outfit clinging to her tight body have me feeling things I shouldn’t.

When I realize why she’s here, fury burns through me.

My stepsister will not be spreading her legs for anyone but me.

*This is a dark stepbrother romance with dual POVs and told in first person. All books in the Sons of Erebus series stand alone but are best read in order. Please check C.W.s on author's website.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
Trope: Stepbrother, protector
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥

This was my first book by Misty Walker. I wasn't sure what to expect, but what I got was a super intense story about cycles of abuse, feelings of abandonment, but, ultimately, perseverance and redemption. Rigger and Navy were thrown together when their parents married when they were kids. Rigger always promised to be her protector, like a good older brother should. Until he left without a word. Thirteen years later, Navy is beyond desperate to get her and her mother a clean break, so she applies to be an escort in a last ditch effort to get some funds. The last thing she expected was to run into Rigger while showing up for her first day of work.

Wow - what a read! Please read and head the trigger warnings if you are a sensitive reader - Navy has NOT had the easiest life and it goes into detail. The storyline definitely held my interest. It was well written, fast moving, and had tons of action. It was definitely a slower burn which was definitely necessary given the storyline, but the chemistry between them was 🔥🔥🔥. By the time they actually did the deed, my kindle nearly exploded, lol. Loved Navy. She is definitely a survivor and deserves every once of happiness she can get. Rigger had lots to make up for and he definitely put in the work for her. Truly enjoyed the story and am excited to see where this series goes!

⛔️ My bookshelves can sometimes be spoilers

Did I pull an all-nighter to read this book? Yeah, worth it. Rigger is my favorite character of the author.

If you answered yes to any of these, you’re in for a treat.

Navy is Rigger’s step-sister, but he has only been in her life for a short period: When Rigger sees her for the first time in fifteen years, he is instantly drawn to her without knowing who she is. Once he does, the gloves are off, and he is possessive from the get-go. I love the unique way they meet. It’s in a brothel the Sons now own and operate.

I’m in total awe of Navy and all she had to endure. She is strong and the best second, Madam—the sisterhood with all the girls, top-notch. Honey Pot Ranch is a hoot and adds the fun factor. I just can’t with her mother.

This book is everything. It’s fun, dark, excellent world-building, and character growth. It’s also my favorite book from the author.

Awful

Writing was good, no grammatical errors. But that’s the only plus - this book was just so bad. The characters were flat, there was zero chemistry between Rigger & Navy. No explanation for why her name was Vivi as a child and suddenly it’s Navy as an adult. Super slow burn with zero spice. None. I’d barely even call this a romance. The author fixated on the “t@boo” aspect of stepbrother and stepsister relationship but it was so lame. They lived together for 2 years as kids. Apparently lived in the same town after the H left home at 18 but never saw each other even once in town for 13 years. Yeah okay, that’s believable. So they weren’t raised as siblings. Didn’t even get to know each other until she was 21 and he was 31. So come on, there was no t@boo relationship, no relationship at all. I DNF at 80% and up til then the main characters hasn’t even ki$$ed. I’m not sure if they ever actually hooked up. Sad because I’ve read other books by this author I enjoyed but this was a huge miss.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an E-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

We follow Rigger and Navy as their story begins as one of childhood trauma which leads to shared pain and bonding over that pain, but together they start to grow and heal, and overcome everything that they have been through.

This was my first Misty Walker book, and I believe my first time reading a MC romance. This book was a hard read, but I was hooked from the beginning, and I couldn’t put the book down when I started it. I read this book in one sitting, that’s how good this book is. I recommend checking the trigger warnings before reading. This book has painful subjects such as, child abuse and sexual assault/rape. The way that the author wrote about these subjects was very well written in a way that people who have been through those experiences can relate, and give hope that it is possible to escape and heal those traumatic events. I enjoyed watching these characters grow together, especially Rigger. Rigger surprised me in many ways, such as him being the person to recommend therapy to Navy — this is something that you don’t see much in books, and it is refreshing. I recommend this book 100% to anyone who wouldn’t be triggered by the subject manner and is looking for a book that will have you hooked from the very beginning! I will be reading more of Misty’s work because I’m obsessed with her writing style!

Oof. This one definitely has dark themes so please read the trigger warnings!

Trigger and Navy once were just Colin and Vivi when they were kids thrown into a dark world of abuse and abandonment from their own parents. His dad and her mom married and two young kids quickly became siblings. With Colin being 10 years older, he took on the role of protecting his new sister. Until he didn’t. Until he left her alone to fend for herself with an incredibly abusive stepfather and mother who wouldn’t protect her.

13 years later, Vivi is desperate for money to be able to get herself and her mother away from the stepfather. She lands herself a job at The Honey Pot Ranch. Where sex for money is legal… and pays more than her waitress job ever could.

Enter Rigger. VP of the Son of Erebus. And part owner of The Honey Pot Ranch.

Rigger and Navy are seeing eachother after 13 years and it’s not going to be easy. So much pain and heartache and secrets that slowly need to unravel as these two start to trust eachother again.

It’s a dark romance built on abuse and violence but ends with a beautiful love story between two humans that made it out of a bad place.

The spice is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Like, Misty Walker KNOWS how to write spicy scenes.

It was an emotional story. Filled with so much love and redemption. I absolutely fell in love with nearly every character and can’t wait for more books in this new dark MC world!

I saw a very popular booktok creator post an ad about this book. Because of all the discourse online lately about whether or not ads should be trusted in the book community, I thought I would ignore my usual suspicion and give this a chance. I should have remained suspicious.

I'm glad it was in KU, and I didn't actually spend any money on it. This book was bad. Just on every level. Aside from the writing falling completely flat, there were some utterly ridiculous scenes.

For example, when Rigger describes Vivi/Navy's tears as LIQUID SADNESS 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮 I'm so sorry, but WHAT?

And then there's the little nugget of an fmc whose name starts off as Vivi, then changes to Navy, and then we find out her second name, Blue. MA'AM, HER NAME IS NAVY BLUE???

It was a slow burn that never really burned. So it was just slow. The spice, when it arrived, was laughably cringe. Whipped cream on her flaps? Really?

There wasn't anything redeemable about this. The one star was earned because The Honey Pot sounded really cool.

Fabulous start to a new MC series!

I freaking LOVED Rigger's Mistake. What a fantastic story with all the elements I enjoy in a great story - spicy romance, angst, soul mate bond, dark/organized crime, forbidden/taboo, brotherhood, revenge, and that extra bit I'm now obsessed about, stepbrother protector. So well-written and engaging from start to finish, with perfect pacing, and enough intrigue to never grow bored. I had to keep flipping the pages to find out what happened next! Rigger and Navy are perfect for each other. This is a top read for me for 2023. Highly recommend this author and all her work!

This story was so addicting and I’ve been reading this author’s work since Royal Bastards Reno, NV (mc series). I couldn’t help but root for the main characters to have their HEA even knowing the pain they’ve dealt with in their childhood. When it got to that point in the story it was beautiful. I love how the MC is a family and they fight for their own. Please read all the trigger warnings before starting this book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

In this heart wrenchingly emotional story there is a lot of darkness the characters live through, it truly makes the moments of happiness, success and growth especially satisfying. (Heed the CW’s/TW’s)
Rigger and Navy share a bond that goes back to childhood. They were Stepsiblings for two years and the 10 years older Colin/Rigger tried to protect the much younger Navy from the abuse, ugliness and neglect in their home. He had to leave and it left Navy heartbroken, feeling betrayed and alone in a terrible situation.
When they see each other for the first time in more than a decade, Navy is applying for a job at Rigger’s (and his MC’s) Nevada Brothel. Once he discovers who she is, the protective older stepbrother comes out in full force.
Rigger is the perfect blend of cocky, caring and intelligent. He’s a sexy, charmer with a big heart.
Navy is also so very caring for others despite her truly horrible past. There’s a naïveté about her, a sweetness and quite a bit of sassiness that makes her a fun, balanced character.
Both of them have been deprived of safety, love, affection and concern. This is a huge part of why I think they connect so easily, they have a lot of the same emotional damages. The have a deep understanding and connection.
It’s a push and pull between the two as Navy insists on getting a job at the brothel and Rigger tries blocking her at every step to protect her. Their chemistry shows in their banter and taunting… it’s a delicious, crackling attraction that continues to grow. I love the forbidden aspect of stepbrother romance. It adds to the slow burn, denial of attraction, sexy tension and makes for a smoldering story.
Navy slowly begins to try to reclaim her body, her sexuality as it’s been terribly damaged. I love Rigger’s part in this and the way their romance develops is so unique, sexy, fun and deeply emotional.
The warm and heartfelt community of the women of the brothel is really fantastic as they show Navy understanding, friendship and love.
I love the portrayal of the escorts, it’s open minded, kind and honest.
I absolutely love this intelligent, thoughtful and emotional story. It’s also sexy, fun and highly entertaining. (The alien room alone provided me with so much entertainment.)
I love the relationship between the characters, the way the story plays out is perfection. I can’t recommend this book enough.
Rigger and Navy are such lovable characters as are the secondary characters.
I can’t wait for more books in this new series. I’m positive each one will be a new favorite.

This book was so good

I love dark and I love Taboo and this book just scratched that itch in my brain that I needed.

Navy is a girl who has never had anyone put her first. Her mom moved from one abusive relationship to another. He step brother only stuck around for 2 years before leaving her. And her step father takes whatever he wants from her. She just wants out. She wants to move away and start her life over.

Rigger thought his little step sister was protected. So when he opens a brothel he is shocked to find her there looking for a job. Rigger is protective, and just a little bit psycho.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I didn't want to put it down. It is exactly what it says it is 'a dark stepbrother MC romance' and I loved it! Now I need to go and read everything by this author.

man! This book hurt. My heart hurt so bad for Navy while reading this book. I felt for Rigger and the regret he had for the choices he made in his past. I loved seeing both of these characters grow. Navy was amazing. She was so strong, and even when she broke, she was strong. So many new and amazing characters that I can’t wait for the author to explore. This book was filled with touchy subjects, but I feel that the author did an amazing job at staying, not only true to the characters, but showing the progression that navy made through her trauma. I can’t wait for more of this series! 5 stars #2OCCJD

Colin aka Rigger met his new six yr old step sister Vivi aka Navy when he was just sixteen. He didn’t have a good upbringing so he didn’t realize this little girl would be a ray of hope he needed in his abu$ive family life. He escaped when he turned eighteen though and never looked backed, not even for Vivi. Now, Rigger is the VP of the Sons of Erebus and opening the club’s new “adult fun” place called the honey pot ranch. He never expected his sweet innocent step sister to walk in. They haven’t seen each other since she left all those years ago. Can she ever forgive him for leaving her alone in that place? Can he ever forgive himself for leaving even though he was also just trying to survive? What a great second chance, taboo-ish romance about two troubled souls finding the way back to each other and healing. I just fell so hard for Rigger and his protective side. I also loved the comic relief within the other MC members. Don’t worry there is plenty of MC action too. Be warned as this romance does tackle some triggering topics for some. What a perfect Start to this new MC series and a top read of 2023! Told in dual POV

This book broke my heart, wrecked me emotionally and had my heart feeling like it had been put through a wringer. Please do pay attention to the author's content warning because this is a dark read and as such has content that could be triggering for some readers. Even as someone with no triggers, this book was not always an easy read. My feelings were all over the place. From tearing up, to wanting to hug the main characters, to being beyond mad and wishing I could rage and do some major damage and destruction, this book takes its toll. At its core though it is a poignant and deeply moving, slow burning, forbidden romance between Rigger and Navy. You can expect lots of angst, tension and emotional turmoil to be bubbling and brewing along with some humor, sweetness, twists and plenty of drama, emotion, heart and steam. I'm eagerly looking forward to reading more of this series. This is my volitional, forthright review.

WOW What a raw, emotional read from Misty Walker. This story may not be for everyone because of the content of abuse and dark themes so people who are sensitive or easily offended, take care while reading. Because both main characters have not had an easy upbringing. Colin is only 16 when he first meets Vivi his new stepsister after his father Ray gets together with Vivi's mother Laura. Ray is an abusive man who treats Colin awfully and Colin vows to protect Vivi from Rays abuse taking the brunt of Ray's anger.
Vivi becomes a lifeline for Colin and he takes care of her in the best way he can by keeping her out of the trailer they live in and away rom Ray. But one night age 18 Colin has to leave and it will be 15 years later that he will see Vivi again. Vivi becomes the target for Ray when Colin leaves and she has to endure more than physical abuse trying to protect her mother in the process, who is now a shadow of the vibrant woman she once was.
She feels betrayed by Colin leaving after he promised to protect her, and her focus now is to get her and her mother away from Ray forever. She needs money and so acquires a job at a new establishment, a brothel called The Honey Pot run by a Motorcycle Club The Sons Of Erebus. Little did she know her first night on the job she would come face to face with her past, her stepbrother, and the V.P Of The Sons of Erebus Colin who is now known as Rigger. He is now all man and she is now all woman and there is an attraction between them which confuses them both. But there is a lot of things to resolve between them, they have 15 years to catch up on and to get to know one another once again. There is a lot of forgiveness and redemption, heartache and pain to rectify, and Rigger/Colin still wants to protect Vivi/Navy from the world she lives in and the world he lives in.
Rigger's Mistake is a very intriguing and in some ways difficult book to read....Colin/Riggers and Vivi/Navy's story is not all sweetness and light...but it is one that is worth reading. I enjoyed it even though it was emotional in some places, and I wanted to just cry at the level of abuse they had to go through as children. How that abuse scars them no matter what good things happen in their lives. Misty Walkers writing is very graphic and raw it flowed easily throughout. I liked the characters Rigger and Navy they are both survivors and fighters and are a perfect match, their chemistry is explosive and I am so glad they got their HEA...One that they deserved. A great MC romance and I look forward to the other books within this series.

Cliffhanger? ❌️

Do I recommend it? ✅️

Trigger Warnings:

Tropes: dark mc romance, forbidden stepbrother romance

Colin "Rigger" Brown spent the first 16 years of his life being told and treated as if he meant nothing. He would have continued believing that had Navy not come into this life, making them a family. For two years, it was them against the world. He kept her safe from the devil, and she gave him the will to keep on going. The day he was forced to leave her behind nearly killed him, but it was unavoidable. He went on to become the VP for the Sons of Erebus MC. He came up with the brilliant idea to open the Honey Pot Ranch, a high-end, luxury brothel. Not only was it legal, but it would bring his club quite a bit of money. When the ladies show for the business opening, he's shocked to find a familiar face. It's been 13 years, and even though she's an adult, there's no way he's letting her spread her legs for anyone but him.

From beginning to end, I was utterly addicted to this emotional rollercoaster plot. It is not an easy read with heavy triggers, so please educate yourself before reading. Until Navy came into his life, Rigger's life was pure hell. I loved their connection. Navy was so strong and lived a hell even worse than he did. When they come into each other's lives again, my heart hurt over the circumstances. Rigger approached it in the best ways. I fell hard for him and how he showed so much patience. I don't want to give anything else away. I highly recommend this read as long as the triggers don't stop you. I read this story in one day as I couldn't put it down even though I had a ton of work to do. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

WOW! Rigger and Navy’s story continually pulled on my heartstrings from beginning end. These two beautiful souls have such a heartbreaking past that they both tried desperately to get away from. Rigger was able to leave when he was a teenager, but that left poor Navy to defend and protect herself and her mom. Be ready for Navy and Rigger to take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotional ups and downs, heartache, pain, anger, passion, and love.

Navy may be a bit broken and trying desperately to get herself and her mother out of the horrible situation they are in, but Navy is a fiercely strong woman and a survivor. She will do what is necessary to get out! Little does she realize, someone from her past is going to turn her world upside down and show her that she deserves love and happiness too.

Rigger is fierce, domineering, and a tough young man who escaped a horrible childhood and made something better of himself. When the person he least expects enters back into his life, he decides that he will do anything and everything to protect her.

The relationship between Rigger and Navy starts off as a struggle between them and then slowly builds into something so much more than either of them expected. The love and care that Rigger shows Navy in her healing process made my heart just soar for him. He took all of her triggers and helped her slowly break through them all, while falling in love along the way.

This is such an emotional story that is filled with drama, angst, danger, and violence but the amount of healing, forgiveness and love contained within made the story exceptional!

I am very curious about the whole alien thing now!!!

This was first Misty Walker read and I really enjoyed it. She gives the main characters such depth and you naturally feel for them from the very start. From the day Colin (aka Rigger) met his new step-sister Vivi (aka Navy) she gave him something he had been lacking - confidence, someone to look after and someone who looked at him like he hung the moon.

This was also my first Motorcycle Club read and I have to say, I really love it. The bond and family....the saying is true, sometimes family is those you choose. I'm glad Navy and Rigger crossed paths fifteen years after Rigger split from home to find a better life for himself. Their HEA is perfect. The slow burn is one of my favorite tropes and Misty didn't disappoint.

The story is heavy with history of physical abuse and SA, so be sure to read content warnings if you're sensitive to such topics.

If you enjoy darker themed romance books that revolve around MC with redemption and main character growth that will give you all the feels then Rigger's Mistake is what you want to read.

I was sent a free book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review. Thank you Misty Walker and Give Me Books Promotions for the opportunity. I look forward to buying and reading more from this author.

When Rigger leaves Navy in her own is when things get worse for her. They meet up again 15 years later, and Rigger knows something is wrong, but Navy can't tell him. She's too embarrassed. Ray and his son, Colin meet Laura, Ray's fiancé and her daughter, Vivi as they move into Ray & Colin's double wide trailer. Ray & Laura met in a chat room and Ray proposed to her after six months.

Wilder and Colin join the Sons of Erebus MC and now go by the names of Lucky & Rigger. In order to make money, the club has build a brothel by the name of The Honey Pot Ranch.

I absolutely loved loved Rigger & Navy's relationship & how it evolved. I loved all the aspects of their earlier relationship growing up & the development of their relationship to the present.

I love everything Misty Walker writes & highly recommend this book.

I was so excited to have received an ARC of this book and for good reason! (As always check trigger warnings! And I don’t post spoilers!)

Misty Walker takes you on a journey through some of the hardest times and traumas that young children go through. She helps those voices be heard and show you there is zero reason not to respect them for the sake of their past, and let’s you see how they have grown up at the same time. There are moments in this book I sobbed, needing to put it down while there were others I was screaming YES! DO IT! GET THEM!

Rigger and Navy are a couple made of pure fire, trauma and whoop ass! The spice is so deliciously slow burn you find yourself yelling PLEASE AT LEAST KISS! And when they don’t, you yell about that. But the wait is more than worth it. Trust me, ate it up and left no crumbs it’s so tasty!

All in all Misty has knocked another incredible piece of work right out of the park!! Read this ASAP!

So this is the first book by Misty Walker that I’ve read. And what a way to be introduced to her amazing work. This book was absolutely incredible. It’s dark, and these characters have been through some really difficult things.. but they are strong. Navy.. she’s this super strong, tough woman. Going through things, no one should have to. But she’s determined. Meeting Rigger again, was the best thing that could happen to her. And Rigger. Had an awful childhood. But found a family with the Sons. He’s tough, and hard. Until Navy walks back into his life. And he’d do anything for her. This book, it talks about some dark topics. So check for triggers. But, it was soo good. And, it’s more of a slow buildup to the spice, but once it get there, it’s perfect. I loved everything about this book. And will definitely push other Misty Walkers books higher up on my list. Definitely recommend this one!

I loved it! Check your triggers though.

Rigger walked away from a home life that wasn't the greatest. His only regret is walking away from the little girl his father brought into his life.

Now he's made his own family with the Sons of Erebus. After the club suffered some financial losses, Rigger suggested a luxury brothel. With the help of an older experienced woman, the brothel is set to open for business. He takes his brother to see the finished brothel and to meet the women who will be working there.

What he's not expecting is to see the girl he left behind. She's all grown up now and there looking for work. He's furious that she's there for work and there's no way he wants her spreading her legs for anyone but him.

Thank you so much to the author and Give Me Books PR for this ARC to review.

Hot holy, damn! This is the cherry popper for my stepbrother trope reading and I have to say, Misty blew me away! I haven’t read the trope because well, I have stepbrothers and eww! But truly, this book from beginning to end had me hooked, like straight ch0kehold!
You get the sweet, you get the spicy. You get the heartbreaking and the heart building. There was tears, laughter, anger, and holy sh!t moments! 10/10 recommend, I loved it!
I knew I was going to love the Erebus boys from the get go with Mustang’s Torment, but Rigger’s solidified that! I can’t wait for the rest of the boys’ stories. This one was an edge of your seat gripping, heart shattering, soul mending one with a beautifully built storyline. You knew where it was headed and yet the road was untraveled. The spice level is off the charts, check your triggers and get this book!

A new MC world to dive into! I cannot wait for more and so far a great start.

A fractured past for both our main characters. Healed trauma through patience and trust.

Navy is a survivor, although at times her age showed, she handled herself with so much grace and strength.

Rigger, gahh he was so sexy. Even with his alphahole tendencies, his patience and willingness to put Navy’s needs and emotions first, swoon factor.

And now I’m off to research alien… add ons… yes.

A dark step brother MC club romance.
I enjoyed this book. Definitely dark, the poor FMC goes through a lot, so check content warnings but it was great start to a series that I’m excited to continue

Rigger and Navy’s story begins as one of shared pain, childhood trauma and bonding over brokenness, and ends with overcoming, growth and healing.

Though this book tackles the painful subject of child abuse and sexual assault, it was handled in such a non-gratuitous and respectful manner. Navy’s story helps validate those who have shared her experience, and gives credence to the truth that one is not defined by their experiences, healing is possible.

I most appreciated Rigger’s own journey of overcoming. Not only was it refreshing to see a male main character be the one to suggest therapy, but his support of Navy and the way in which he both fostered and supported her relationship with her therapist was so refreshing to see play out.

Watching his character show support and empathy when he had never received those things only served to endear him to me further.

This book was surprising, not only in its intensity, but it was written in a way that did not leave the reader feeling like a voyeur, or dirty given the subject matter. The moments of sweetness and tenderness between the main characters were lovely. Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who won’t be triggered by the issues conquered in the story arc, it may even prove cathartic for some who have shared experiences. Great book 4⭐️
