About the author

George Robert Stowe Mead, who always published under the initialism G.R.S. Mead, was a historian, writer, editor, translator, and an influential member of the Theosophical Society, as well as founder of the Quest Society. His scholarly works dealt mainly with the Hermetic and Gnostic religions of Late Antiquity, and were exhaustive for the time period.

Gnostic?

I am too ignorant to ever understand what this is about.....Gnosticism is out of reach for most of us. If the Gnostic of those times were so intelligent why did they not write the NT or simply that history? Why did St Paul, or Josephus or gospel writers not contribute to this text? As said, I don't understand this. Two stars are out of decency.

Gee Gnosis is different.

I had only a brief exposure to Gnosticism before reading this. Always so much more to learn. Author did a good job of exposing Gnostic ideas.

Lots of nonsensical ideas jumbled together. Totally incomprehensible. But I'm sure some preacher somewhere will claim to have the Enigma cipher.

There are much better written books on this topic on the market. Don't bother!
