First and foremost: Chanel Miller is a beautiful and talented writer and illustrator. Her memoir was written in a way that will make you go through every possible emotion and feel so many things at once. It is a powerful narrative that shows all nuances of personal experience with rape, sexual assault, victimhood, privilege and a flawed justice system. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

I can’t even imagine having to live two separate lives, just to function after a sexual assault. Chanel was super brave to write this book. She was brave to press charges. She was brave to follow through with the trial. I admire her courage and ability to make a difference in the midst of her struggle with being assaulted. The in depth picture of what she went through on a daily basis, was very eye opening and just plain sad. Sad that women are taken advantage like this and people of wealth are taken more seriously. I highly recommend this book. Definitely worth your time.

A story of heart break and resilience. A story of a woman who stood up for herself but really for all of us, reminding women all over the world; they matter, their bodies are sacred, and that their voices matter, even in a world where we are told day in and day out that the opposite of that is true. Chanel Miller is a survivor. She is a daughter, a sister, a colleague, a friend, a girlfriend, she is the girl next door… she is one of us and her story belongs to all of us.

Trigger warning. This is a story of sexual assault.. honestly rape… it was hard to read, but so worth it.

The future is in good hands if Chanel Miller is any indication. I admire this woman so much for her courage, her caring and compassion, and her seemingly innate goodness.

Loved listening to certain chapters in the author’s voice. She is so brave and this story was engaging as well as enraging.
