Hudson Strode published "Jefferson Davis: Tragic Hero" in 1964. It is the third volume in his Davis trilogy. The work is written from a distinct bias giving the reader a civil war prospective reflecting beliefs of a leader steeped in Southern economic traditions and mores. The book gave me a more balanced understanding of forces driving events during the reconstruction period of U.S. history.
