I knew he was trouble the first time I set my eyes on the grumpy lawyer staring at me across the courtroom.
I've dedicated my life to becoming one of the most successful prosecutors in Hollywood. I'm smart, determined, and don't back down from a challenge.
But when I face off against the charming and cunning defense attorney, Paul Riley, in a high-profile case, I realize that the stakes are higher than ever.
Paul is a smooth-talking, devilishly handsome single dad that leaves me feeling dizzy. I know I shouldn’t want him; he is totally off limits, but I can’t help it.
I can’t stand working with him. his arrogance boils my blood, but I can’t stop letting him kiss me. But no one can find out about our secret.
The risk of being together is high, but the reward could be even higher. Will we surrender to our desires and risk everything we've worked for, or will our rivalry keep us apart forever..
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
OOH FUN FACT: This author is very famous in real life. Just search up Blair Brown.
Triggers: toxic relationships, drunken fights, trauma of a child (similar to freedom of Britney Spears movement).
This was a fun and intriguing read, specially it was so short considering that.
Now this book held a lot of promise, two lawyers fighting a case on opposite sides, after having had a one night stand together before.
But the plot twist of the case itself was unexpected but intriguing. Add in Paul's ex's illusions about him, and well we have a drama of a romance similar to maybe dynasty.
So I did like this book - writing, romance, steam, the case itself, I just didn't like the slight development of the characters towards the end, with regards to the plot twist of the case they are fighting for, and general assumptions about each other and their exes (it's the heroine's fault in assumptions here).
Otherwise the novel was a general fun one, and not too heavy on triggers or issues, just something to enjoy briefly.
Blair Brown knocked it out of the park on her first published book Damaged Grumpy Daddy. I really loved this book - there wasn't one dull moment. Once I began reading it was impossible for me to put this book down. The plot was original and very fun. The chemistry between Paul and Lola was smoking hot and it burned up the pages of this book. All of the characters in the story are pretty lovable and definitely relatable. Their past and present experiences are believable.
The first time Paul and Lola met didn't get off to a good start, but eventually the tides turned. What started out as a one night stand quickly changed when they crossed paths again. They began sneaking off to create some very steamy moments together. Everything was not smooth sailing though and it was going to take a lot of grit if they wanted to find a happily ever after.

Paul and Lola meet in a bar and things start off rocky between them. However, by the end of the night they leave together. They share an amazing night and don't know what to expect the next day. Neither expected to see each other on opposite sides of the courtroom. Neither will recuse themselves so things get even more complicated. Will something more grow between them? Can they do their jobs and be together?
This is an amazing story that will leave you wanting more by the end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

An emotional, page-turning story that you won't be able to put down once you start reading. An enemy to lover's book that pits a grumpy defense attorney against a gorgeous prosecutor. They were at each other's throats, but the chemistry starts to interfere. A great book with an engaging story line and well-developed characters. What happens when things get complicated? Do they give into their desires and risk everything? No spoilers here, but you will love this book. I received a free copy of this book via bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed this book. It was hard to put down; something was always happening. Lolo works for the prosecutor's office and Paul is leading his own office specializing in defending stars in Hollywood. He has been divorced for one year and has a nine-year-old daughter. Their first meeting started out poorly but ended gloriously! Imagine their surprise when next they meet on opposing sides in the courtroom both counting on this case and neither ready to recuse themselves! This author fills her writing with spice and wit without long pages of what the characters are thinking, which I hate.
Imagine looking across the courtroom and seeing the person you had a one-night stand with as the opposing counsel. That's where Lola finds herself after meeting Paul. Their first meeting didn't start out well, but then they clicked and they had a good time together one night. So now they are facing each other in court and neither one of them wants to recuse themselves from the case. Soon these two are sneaking off to spend time together. When things get complicated (even more complicated!) between them, will they be able to figure out a way to have everything that they want?
Defense vs the prosecution heats up the courtroom as Paul and Lola battle for supremacy. Rivals at work whose chemistry is intense and exciting. The story was exciting and interesting with characters that were well written.

Paul and Lola square of in the court room and the bedroom in this exciting story. Their rivalry have them battling both wit and love. Will their rivalry overrule their hearts. This story kept me glued to the pages as I cheered for this couple to get their chance for happiness. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
This was a very good book! After having a bad first impression of each other at a bar, Lola and Paul end up spending the night together. They shortly find out that they would be opposing lawyers in a high profile case. Will this effect their budding relationship or not? Find out by reading this enticing romance. I highly recommend it to other romance readers. I received an ARC of this book, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.
This is a short read but you take your time with it. All the good and bad in their lives and ups and downs with their relationship was well put together. I really enjoyed this book!

Slightly too far fetched sometimes, but decent up's and downs. I'd read another by this author again. It's a sweet story - one night stand find themselves as opposing council.... And sparks continue to fly. An ex makes nuisance but that doesn't seem to make too many waves in the end.
It is bad enough to work for your father's best friend but having a romance with him surely crosses the line. In this case Lainey falls for Bradley while interning with his business. A. L. DeRose presents strong characters and a good story line which come together to provide an enjoyable read.
