Dragon Crowned was previously published under Kenley’s pen name, Haley Ryan. If you love snarky dragons, dangerous fae, and sweet, slow-burn romance, don’t miss the action-packed conclusion of this urban fantasy series that’s perfect for fans of K. M. Shea, Shari L. Tapscott, or Annette Marie!

You know it’s time to reconsider your life choices when…

Where do I start?

Technically, it could have been worse. My visit to the dragon enclave could’ve ended with me being eaten. Somehow I survived—with a few new bruises—and now all I want is to go home. Back to Twenty-third Street. Back to my house, my cat, and my grumpy gargoyle roommate.

But nothing is as simple as it used to be. My store is in shambles, the man who might just be my mate has disappeared, and every bounty hunter in Oklahoma seems to want a piece of my hide—literally. Worst of all? The hunters aren’t too picky about who gets hurt, and everyone I care about is now in their line of fire.

I’ve never been the sort of dragon to back down when the going get rough, so I can’t help but get involved. But this time, it’s going to take more than a bit of dragon fire to keep my newfound family safe.

The fae queen has been making her own plans, none of which involve us surviving the next ten days. When we can’t seem to stay ahead of her magic or her mercenaries, the only chance to save the people I love is a potentially deadly gamble—where a single mistake could bring disaster not only for us, but for every Idrian refugee on Earth.

Only one thing is for certain—I’m going to need a lot more tea.

An action packed, satisfying conclusion to this trilogy! I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book wondering how things were going to go down and how all the loose ends would be woven together and I wasn’t disappointed.

If I thought Kira had come into her own in book two she REALLY took charge and grew in this one! Not to mention she and Draven grew closer and honestly them reaching that point in their relationship where they would fight and die for each other was my favorite part of the whole story as I’ve been invested in their relationship since book one and I’m so so happy with how everything turned out for them!

The end battle was seriously crazy and I was shocked by several plot twists, not to mention it was really fun theorizing with my family on what could possibly happen next even if some of our ideas were a little off the wall, lol.

The only hiccup I noticed was a note a character gets was signed in a way no one would have known about so I’m not sure why the character in question did that? (Keeping this super vague because spoilers!) So that was odd. The only other issue I had was I wanted the last chapter to be a bit longer though everything was wrapped up in a way that it’s completed but open if the author wants to come back and write more (which I wouldn’t mind in the slightest!).

I love this trilogy and will happily read it again!

I totally ditched all my responsibilities to read this book. And stayed up far too late to finish it. But totally worth it! This is a great finale to the series! The stakes are so high! Everyone's lives are on the line!

And how the main villainess is disposed of...it was perfect. So perfect. I laughed out loud.

I did guess some of the big reveals in this book. They are pretty obvious to the reader, and I didn't mind that I guessed since there was nothing else that would have been quite as good.

Overall, I really loved this whole series, and I'm definitely going to add it to my to be re-read favorites!

If you’d told me 5 years ago I’d be an avid urban fantasy lover, I’d never had believed you. But here we are, and I am. 😂

The found family vibes were everything! I stubbornly willed back tears several times. Because Faris & Kira’s surrogate father/daughter relationship and Kira’s friendship with Hugh were too lovely to not be emotionally moving. 🥹

Since I read the Shifter of Sheridan Avenue books first, some big reveals were spoiled, and I have questioned about how things changed from the end of this book to the beginning of that series. Might need to reread! 🤭

Content:
moderate use of mild language (most of the series just has d*mn, h*ll, p*ss, d*mmit, b*st*rd, a**, but book 2 had a use of b*llsh** and this book had a use of b*tch

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as the first two. There were a lot of repetitive conversations in this book. 3/5 syars.

wrapped up the story but left me wanting more

I came into this series after reading the first two books of the Shifter of Sheridan Avenue series. Kenley Davidson did a great job of tying up ends but leaving enough dangling for future tales, but I will admit that I’m now very confused about some leadership changes from the end of this book to the beginning of the Shifter series. Maybe I’ll have to read that series again in November when the third comes out to see if an explanation is in there…

I really liked this book series, lots of adventure and excitement during the final battle with the Fae Queen. Kyra finding her family, friends and her mated bond with Draven. It was a great story.
It brought all the frayed ends together and the ending is all I could have asked for.
I would be happy to read further books.
The narration was good.

I enjoyed the first two books a lot. This one was not as good.

The first two books had good characterizations, light but humorous banter, and a straightforward plot with some little twists that gave the story a little flavor. This book seemed to be missing all of that.

There was a lot more monologue, and it was devoted to self-realization…or maybe self affirmation. It’s good for the main character to understand things about herself, but once the reader gets it, it doesn’t have to be repeated all over the book. The plot events were a little more contrived to get certain things to happen, or I think maybe to tie up some loose ends, but the path to getting there wasn’t that believable.

Finally the battle scenes were not well paced or well directed. It was a bit drawn out with odd breaks for inner monologue. Also, the good side faces off against 40-50 fae henchmen (it seemed) and one Queen whose main power source was a giant diamond. What to do, what to do to end this battle…probably not what you’d think. The battle ended at last, but was rather abrupt and came out of nowhere, I thought.

Reader’s Notes:

– this is book 3 of 3

– this is told from Kira’s point of view

– there are about 8 curse words

– there are multiple instances of Kira seeing a guy’s chest (as he can’t wear a top & shift properly)

– there is some fantasy violence

Review:

I really hope that Haley Ryan ends up writing more urban fantasies within this world if she gets inspiration! I loved this trilogy and how the story progressed! I loved that though I could guess some of the twists/reveals before they happened, not every one was guessable! I loved the ending with Kira and her mother. I loved that we got to see more of Kira and Draven together and how it went when Kira’s father-like figure found out about their relationship. I loved seeing more of Hugh with Chicken, he was hilarious in his seriousness and love for that cat. I loved getting to finally see the queen of the fae and what kind of character she was. I also loved that we had to read the plan Kira came up with as it happened rather than find out beforehand. It made me wonder what was supposed to happen next every step of the way!

Summary:

Kira knows where she wants to be in life, and that’s back on Twenty-Third Street. But her home is still in the process of being repaired, the traitor is still on the loose, and now she as bounty hunters after her. Not to mention that she just got Draven back just to lose him while he goes on the hunt to save his brother. Kira doesn’t want to sit on her hands while her friends are protecting her and the world as they know it. She has to get into the action, especially as people around her go missing. But if she manages to get caught, things could get a whole lot worse for every Idrian on Earth…

I could not put this book down! I stayed up until 3 am to finish it!!!

Read if you like:
* Clean Urban Fantasy (some fantasy violence)
* Spunky Heroines
* Single POV (told from Kira's POV)
* Third Book in a Trilogy (must be read in order)
* Great for fans of K.M. Shea's Magiford Series and Shari Tapscott's Obsidian Queen Series

I am so glad that Kenley Davidson decided to delve into the urban fantasy genre! This series has been such a fun and refreshing read. The story itself was immersive and fast-paced, but what made it even better were all of the engaging side characters. I really hope that she decides to revisit this world and write a series about the Shadow Court and a series following Kira's brothers.

The culmination of this series was so well done. I loved that we got to experience it as it unfolded rather than being told of the plan beforehand. There were so many fun twists and turns to this story that it was hard to put down.

Favorites:
* Watching Faris interact with Draven
* Kira's Brothers
* Hugh and his love of period dramas and Chicken
* The Resolution for The Dragon Court
* The Shadow Court
* Misty

I will definitely be re-reading this series, it was so much fun! I really hope Kenley gives us a chance to revisit this world in the future.

* I was gifted an ARC of this book by the author, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was super intrigued by this one. As a female reptile keeper, I always love a good female-lead dragon fantasy. The concept of a cute little tea-loving shapeshifter dragon living in a cozy bookshop suddenly having her life thrown into turmoil? Count me in.

The plot was good, but what really stood out to me was the characters. I love found-family tropes, and the gruff yet protective father-figure Faris and all of her friends at The Portal were wonderfully written. There were a few characters that I wish would’ve been touched on more (Wynter, Marilee, Misty, Niko & Oliver), but overall the most highlighted characters were well-written. And this series has a huge cast.

If you are a fan of sweet, forbidden love, slow-burn romance, this book is a great read. Draven was dark and broody without being overly cheesy, and Kira’s firecracker personality balanced the couple out well. Plenty of swooning moments with just a hint of tension while still being no-spice, which I always love.

And the ending was great. Well-written final battle scene with plenty of twists and turns, and the unexpected finishing blow had me both cheering and laughing.

Overall this is definitely an excellent read for lovers of dragons, urban fantasy, and sweet slow-burn romance. I highly recommend it!

Kira has left the dragon enclave after deciding she will not be the next dragon queen and is willing to take chances to get her life back. Draven seems to be her mate but he is off tracking down the green dragon who pretended to be her aunt Morgan. Knowing there will be attacks on her life, she is still surprised when one occurs as soon as she gets home.
And home isn’t quite right, her bookstore is under major renovations and she is forced to live with Faris, the gargoyle Hugh along with the sphynx cat, Chicken.
After figuring out that the fae queen wants to destroy anyone who knew she was involved in the overthrow scheme by her deceased son, Kira actually starts to work with her friends to fix things.
There is a fair amount of action, magic, mystery surrounding the fake aunt, suspense and surprises. The romance is well done. Kira may be young but she is very mature and now that she has a good idea about the supernatural world, she’s adapted nicely.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable, quick read that I loved. There is a bonus short story about Kira’s eldest brother Callum that sets things up for the spin off series, The Shifter of Sheridan Avenue. I’ll wait for the second and third books to come out before I read it though

This is somewhere in that 3.5-4 star range. I did like the story, and I’m always happy to read Kenley Davidson books. Her world building and characters are great!

This feels a lot more like young adult/high school than new adult/college. Kira seemed young, which I probably wouldn’t have noticed a decade ago but definitely noticed post-30. Which just means Kenley Davidson did a great job of writing a 19 year old! I was hoping for the other characters to have a bigger role in planning and finding answers, but everyone just kinda went along with whatever she said. All of them, even Draven, felt like background characters. It worked fine for the story, but I’d have loved to see more of them working together to over throw a common threat. I’d be interested in another series set in this world focusing on all the characters bringing their groups together and Kira acting in her peace bringing role. (Told from multiple perspectives 🙌🏻) It’d be awesome!

Glad to have another Kenley Davidson series and am looking forward even more to finishing her Legends of Abreia series. I like her writing style and appreciate all the fun words she uses. She has a great vocabulary!

more like 3.5 stars!

a solid ending to this series, i love that her brothers still make a pretty decent appearance in this book (EXCEPT DECLAN WHICH I WAS SO SAD ABOUT), and it wraps a lot of mysteries up.

this book was fine but there were certain things that i can knit-pick about it: the ending was so abrupt and a littleeee anticlimactic? like what do you mean kira's mom just eats the queen up? also why does wynter not face consequences? we barely see her even though her betrayal was pretty crucial. also jaida? her ending was so random... she's characterized as being selfish and self-motivated yet she throws it all away for a cat?

my other gripe is that i felt like a lot of characters were underutilized... maybe bc the cast was too big? like i was sad that declan barely makes an appearance despite the fact that kira's life is in trouble. also RATH? he played such a big part in the first book and was integral in this book yet we barely got lines from him. same with wynter.

but beyond all this, it's a hea and it was fun to read about this world. kira definitely became more likeable (and draven) and so it was a fun read.

Eh...2 stars for the entire series

To be fair, I don't like YA. This is definitely YA.
This is also way too peppy for me. And the near constant references to family members being gorgeous was too cringey and incestuous for me.

More than that, this was so superficial. The relationships, the plot, the danger, and the overall story. There was no depth to it. Kira never actually addressed anything that happened. Not even in the end.
Everything was super simple and easy. There were no real stakes. Quite frankly, Kira had no business doing any of the things she was doing.
It sure didn't help that the timeline was incredibly short for this story. Having read the first book of the spin-off, it sticks out even more.

If you want a quick, seriously easy YA sappy, peppy read, this will work for you.
But....I need more.

Pretty good but some big plot holes

Overall, the series was pretty good. In the first two books, I was a bit frustrated with the FMC as she was just too gullible and naïve for too long. Then in this one, she wised up, but had a pretty significant lapse back to naïveté, which was annoying.

Thought there was a little bit too much buildup about her unique, unparalleled powers which didn’t really come to fruition, explored or utilized enough, which was a kinda big plot hole and was a let down. I kept waiting for the big moment that her full powers would arise, but it just didn’t happen.

I found myself having to push myself to keep reading it at times as I just wasn’t all that into it for some reason at certain points.

Epic Ending

All the feels! I love all the found family and the ways they fight for each other and learn to respect each other. All of the characters and plots come together so skillfully and epicly. The magic is creative, the humor laugh out loud hilarious, and the sweet moments oh so heart melting and electric. The romance is clean no spice yet definitely swoons and the fighting is non gory but also meaningful, twisty, and satisfying. This is the third book in a trilogy that will make much more sense when read in order. Reading this book brought so much hope and joy and I couldn’t wait to keep going back to it. So thankful to get to watch Kira’s journey to find home, family, self, and purpose. I’m already looking forward to rereading this trilogy.

What a conclusion to the series! I was so excited to read it and as usual couldn’t put it down.

Faris is quite a cute character now that he’s a bit more fleshed out. Was not so taken with the intro for this book but thankfully it did get better

My favourite quote from this book:
“Your job,” Faris growled, “is to eat the next twenty-five people who try to kidnap you.” “Ew.”“Don’t worry,” Draven murmured, with a tiny grin. “I’m sure he’ll let you use ketchup.”

That was a crazy ending. I honestly thought either one of the two mains were done for. All in all, worth reading and such a fun ride!

Great end to the series!!

Wow, where do I even begin with this story?! Dragons, Fae, Shapeshifters, Elementals, Gargoyles, Pixies and more in this fantastic ending. There was so much revealed, so many twists in the plot, both expected and unexpected.

From almost the very beginning there was action, suspense, and danger, all with healthy doses of Kira’s signature sarcasm and spunk. I loved seeing her grow and come into her own with the family she inherited and chose. So many characters to love and gosh her romance with Draven was swoony and sweet.

This series was fantastic and I will definitely be reading it again in the future!

3.5 stars. And that rounds up the series. I was glad I read it as it was a nice and relaxing way to spend some time between books. It was on the young side for me as I haven't been part of the target YA demographic for a while now , but overall it was solid. Clean content, with a few *ahem* choice words in this installment. No details given about the H's romantic past, but he was all about the h. No OP drama. Some sadness and frustration with the h and some of her decisions in this book, but all's well that ends well. I'd actually a fourth book in this series that shows us the MCs being happy and quirky together. I'd also like to see Faris have a HEA as well as Rath.

Good

Kira’s story comes to an end, as she finally faces the dangers, and learns exactly where she belongs in the world.
We see most of our old friends from previous books, see some answers to questions we’ve been wondering about for a while, and resolutions to some of the problems that our heroes faced!

It’s an exciting series, and while Chicken is my favourite character by far, I enjoyed watching Kira come into her own, and learn all about herself (once she got over being a bit of a brat!).
An entertaining read, this series is worth the time for urban fantasy fans, dragon fans, and anyone that wonders why a cat is called chicken 😉.

I was reading these books while on vacation with my family in Sunriver Oregon so imagine my surprise when this very obscure part of Oregon was mentioned in book two. I like to think that in an alternate or parallel universe there are dragons there.

Anyway I loved the idea of a dragon hoarding books and the characters all have growing to do which we see throughout the series. I feel in some ways this series is a warning against extreme naiveté but has powerful moments about family bonds as well as allowing for the life you choose and such great found family.

I didn't know Kenley Davidson wrote these when I read them, but it makes sense to me as it fits her style of writing.

This third and final book in the series is a fitting conclusion to the trilogy. Kira uses everything she has learned about the world, herself and her place in the world to confront her enemies with the help of all her friends. Although Kira's story arc is wrapped up reasonably well, I feel a less satisfied with where some of the other characters are left. Hopefully this means that someday there might be a spin-off series to give these characters better/more clear resolutions.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lots of action with mysteries and problems solved

Great ending to an entertaining dragon, fae, elemental, etc. trilogy. Kira continues to amaze. She is so loving and willing to forgive, but also ready to fight for her family and friends. She is truly a Peacemaker. Draven and her family and friends support her through calm and stormy times. Hugh, the Gargoyle, steals the show several times! Lady Tairen solves one problem in an ingenious and totally dragon way. Wonderful story of acceptance of others, especially family and friends, despite many differences.

good

I thought this book was a good ending to this series, but I didn’t like the ending quite as much as other books in a series. It could have been a little bit better. Kira and her friends end up going through a lot in this book. Her bond between her and her mate has solidified, and there are some interesting perks to the bond. Kira believes that her mother has washed her hands of Keira, but she makes an entrance at the end of this book. They also find out who the person is that was lying to her and calling herself Kira’s aunt.

JUST WOW!

I really enjoyed this series. It had everything that you could ask for. You will love the MFC & the MMC and you will root for them with all of your heart. There are also so many secondary characters that stand out and add to the storyline. The villain is one of the best that has been written and there is more than one just to keep it interesting. In the end, it is about love, sacrifice, and how families are formed and created not necessarily by blood. Excellent read, lots of action!

It was a complicated plot but so so slow. There was no sense of anticipation and the protagonist was very very dumb.

In a world of mercenaries, it never clicked to her that a person introducing themselves as a contractor might be a mercenary.

It really was obvious that the aunt was her kidnapper, even if I didn't predict the aunt to also be a doppelganger. By this point I also expect her actual aunt is behind everything getting to be a queen in exchange for making the Fae consort a queen as well.

Let me start with, I got my husband listening to this series!

There are no spicy scenes, it’s very much YA, but honestly I loved it. I was ready to move on to the next book after completing them. I love the way they flowed from one book to the next, there was no jumping around or changing views. There were some sad parts, some that made me cackle out loud, roll my eyes too. Overall, I really liked this series. My hubby did too.

I do like how she wrote the FMC. While she was kept in the dark about who and what she was, and she was incredibly clueless, she wasn’t entitled.

This series ended with answering a lot of the questions I had after reading book two, in surprising ways. Kira's bravery throughout the hard times was mellowed to some degree by her uncertainty, questioning her actions after the fact, or for lack of a better description, her soft side toward others whether they deserved it or not. The conclusion was appropriate, although unexpected in some ways, and I would like to see more of the other characters developed in other storylines as well.
