Brainiac Tessa McClean’s newly discovered magical powers give her hope of an escape from her inadequate life. But the thrill of being a witch fades when she learns of a rival coven and begins to suspect her own coven’s objective. Evidence tells Tessa to trust one side, but instinct drives her toward the other. When Hayden Anders, the most delinquent kid in school — and the toughest — offers self-defense lessons in exchange for tutoring, the timing couldn’t be better. Though the idea of hanging out with a bad-boy that tempting is unnerving, staying alive amidst warring witches takes priority. She vows to hold onto her values and not surrender to the bad-boy she begins to secretly want. Together, Tessa and Hayden uncover the truth about the two factions — a truth that explains why the covens will stop at nothing to lure her to their side. Tessa has only a matter of weeks to form an alliance with one coven or the other, but the wrong decision could cost Tessa the lives of all those she loves — including Hayden.
Brain candy. Cleansing your reading palate one book at a time.
Veronica Blade lives in Southern California with her husband and children. By day she runs the family business, but each night she slips away to spin her tales. She writes stories about young adults to relive her own childhood and to live vicariously through her characters. Except her heroes and heroines lead far more interesting lives — and they are always way hotter.
Veronica Blade teams up with Crush Publishing to bring us, in this reader’s opinion one of her best books. She has a naturally subtle humor in her writing and I loved that the romance between Hayden and Tessa was the focus and I can’t wait for their story to continue. Once I started reading I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I love the storyline; it was full of enough mystery, action and romance to keep me interested and yearning for more!
Blade did an excellent job molding and developing three-dimensional characters. Tessa was strong female lead; coming from an emotionally broken home where her parent’s barely acknowledge her existence and she cares for her much younger sister Bree with the help of sitters. She studies hard to get good grades so that one day she can leave home and take her sister with her.
Hayden on the other hand is bad boy with a troubled past. His step father has been beating him since he was eight (?). His mother sided against him and now he lives in the guest house. That entire aside he is one of the most popular boys in school who (because of his past) has his hands in bullying. He is known for his out of hand wild ways as a love ‘em and leave with ladies. But is he truly a bad?
Blade chooses to begin the story with Hayden being summoned to the principal’s office where he is met by an FBI agent. He is then persuaded forcefully to being Tessa’s body guard while taking on all Tessa her advance classes to remain together the entire school day. If you have alarm bells going off about why the FBI would ask a high school boy to be a body guard, relax as you read the book all will be revealed…
Thus begins the action filled mystery as Tessa is confronted by two different organizations that both want her to side with them. One is good the other is evil; but which one is which? Who will she ultimately believe? Will she learn what her true powers are and what they really want from her?
As twists and turns emerge and what is not known becomes know, will we learn what kind of witch Tessa is? Will you learn the truth of what happened t her older sister? Will she discover who the principle and the FBI agent are in time? Will she learn the truth about her grandmother? As the developing relationship between Tessa and Hayden grows what other surprises springs up?
Veronica Blade does such an excellent job at weaving this story every possible question that crosses your mind is wrapped up by the end and still leaves you hungry for more.

Really enjoyed it! I've read several books now by Veronica Blade, and she has yet to disappoint! If you want a smokin' YA 'witchy' story and a new book-boyfriend, look no further!
"I wish you'd stop comparing me to a pregnancy test."
Oh the gems of laughter in this book. The dialogue is witty and the banter between the main characters reminds me of the love/hate push/pull of Daemon and Katy from Obsidian. Here is a quote that I think really exemplifies that:
"But a guy like you shouldn't have to bother remembering my name, so I programmed myself in your contacts as Beneath Me. Now every time you see that, you'll remember I'm beneath you."
It's like a paranormal, high school The Secret Circle meets Beautiful Disaster.
"The word yummy came to mind"
Hayden... what a HOTTIE! He's like a teen angst bad boy with a heart of gold. It's that perfect opposites attract teenage romance, and that's just one facet of the story! This is a YA that will still catch your breath and make you break into a sweat with the spontaneous "lust bombs", but is still YA so it will not devolve into an underage porn.
"Did he have to go and admit he was jealous, apologize and be shirtless - all in one breath?"
I've always loved witch stories, especially involving younger characters learning how to deal with it all. An added dynamic of almost a 'conspiracy theory' feel to it makes this into a Must Read, if you enjoy anything similar. I highly recommend reading it, but the line starts behind me for a date with Hayden.
Something Witchy opens with Tessa and Hayden being thrown together. Tessa is in trouble and Hayden has been given the job of protecting her, not that he's a real bodyguard or anything. They're just students in the same school. They know of each other, but they're not exactly friends. And now they have to spend the entire school day together as Hayden has to shadow Tessa and keep her safe. Inevitably (because this is a book after all) romance blooms, as the over-muscled bad boy and the cute braniac start falling for each other.
The book is written from both Hayden and Tessa's point of view, with each getting their own chapters. I'm starting to really like this writing style as it keeps the book first person, but it lets us see into multiple characters' heads. The books is fast paced, and I mean really fast paced. The whole book basically takes place in 2 weeks (more on that later).
Most importantly, I loved the characters. So a little more on our main characters:
Tessa is smart, strong, and growing into her new powers. She knows what she needs to do, and she's a quick thinker when in a tough spot. She's grown up with a lot of responsibility so its nothing new for her. I really liked her.
Hayden starts as a bad boy with a troubled past. He's one of the more popular guys in school, especially with the ladies. But he has a soft side that comes out more as the book progresses. Totally swoon worthy. And what's a good review without an equally swoon-worthy image of our love interest (maybe 10 years younger)?
What recent YA book would be complete without a love triangle? As a disliker of love triangles, I have to say this one wasn't bad. It wasn't overwhelming, and was just enough to add a little interest to the story without me having to roll my eyes every other page. Anyway, in comes Chait.... He's already in one of the witch groups vying for Tessa's attention. He's a more experienced witch, and they're going to need his help to keep Tessa safe. He's supposed to be absolutely beautiful, so the whole time I read his character all I kept imagining was Ian Somerhalder, which is perfect since Tessa has a picture of Ian taped to her locker. So enjoy. My Chait. :-)
The only problem I really had with the book was the pacing. Hayden and Tessa don't like each other when the book starts, but 24 hrs later they're in lust? 48 hours later and they can't stop thinking about each other? I'm not big on love at first sight, and this felt way too rushed to me. It also felt overly rushed that Hayden went from uncaring bad boy to sensitive suitor being in practically 48 hours. Mentally I had to pretend weeks passed by instead of just days to make it a little more real for me.
Overall, the book was written really well and kept me captivated. Once I forced myself to get past the timing issues, I really enjoyed the book. Will be picking up more from the author soon.
My Cover Thoughts: I absolutely love this cover. I love the full moon and the Pentacle.
My Thoughts/Review: This book is crazy! I absolutely loved it. It starts off with Tessa in trouble and she doesn't even know it. She is then assigned a body guard for her protection and when she finds out who it is she is not happy.
At first they stay far away from each other but as time goes on Tessa finds out why she needs to be protected and who wants to hurt her. As she discovers this she finds herself falling in love with the most unlikely person....her body guard and the funny thing is is that he is acting weird to. Tessa will have to learn how to trust and who to trust. In the end will she find true love? Will she allow herself to open up and be loved? What is she? And the last is why do they want her so bad?
Take a ride on the roller coaster with Tessa and Hayden and Chait.
Hayden is reserved and all about himself but when he is asked to be loyal he decides that it is worth it to help someone else out. While on this journey he too will find out what he is and who he is supposed to be with. Will Hayden be strong enough to stop following his friends? Will he open his heart to the one that he loves? Will he be able to put others needs before his?
Chait oh man what to say about him. He is in love with someone he can't have and he has to come to terms with it. But in the end he gets a perfect gift....
Memorable Quotes:"I can't be without you. You get that, don't you?" I nodded and kissed him, sending tiny electrons whizzing through my body, urging me to move things quickly, but making me want to freeze this moment in time.

Advice: This is a must read for all lovers of Paranormal books! Veronica Blade you have out done yourself!
When I heard the title of this book, I just knew I had to read it! Then I saw the cover and read the description, and I was even more excited! Sometimes that's a bad thing, though - to go into a book with really high expectations can lead to a really big letdown if the book doesn't meet those expectations. I am very happy to report that that was not the case here - I really enjoyed it!
Tessa and Hayden go to high school together, but they hang out in totally separate groups. Tessa is the quiet but pretty brainiac, who is always smiling, and Hayden is the extremely good-looking troublemaker, who has a rep for loving and leaving the ladies. Imagine their surprise when one day when they show up for school they are both called into the principal's office. Apparently, Tessa is being stalked and perhaps threatened by a mysterious group, and the principal wants Hayden to be her bodyguard. In exchange, he will write Hayden a letter of recommendation for college and will expunge some of the worst offenses from his school file. Hayden's not too excited about it, but he finally agrees. The principal then has a private meeting with Tessa where he tells her that she is a witch, and a rival faction wants her to join their group, and chances are they will kill her if she doesn't agree. This sets off a chain of events where no one is who they seem to be, and it's up to Tessa and Hayden to figure out the mystery of who's who before her 18th birthday in about a month, when she will be expected to choose. Not only does she find out that she is a witch, but she's a very special witch with special gifts, and people will kill to have her on her side.
The mystery is a great part of the book, but an even better part is the relationship that develops between Tessa and Hayden. They are definitely attracted to one another, but Tessa was hurt by a boy earlier that year and Hayden suffers from major self-esteem issues, so they both fight their attraction. I will admit that I often just wanted to smack them both upside the head, but then I had to remind myself that I was a teen once, too!
This book is full of action and suspense and romance, and all the good things a book should be full of! There were lots of twists and turns, which made it a "can't put down" book for me!
I do have to caution parents that the book does deal with sexual situations, so you might want to leave this book to the older teens:)
I am really impressed with this first book of Veronica's and will definitely read any further books she writes! I'm waiting (kind of) patiently for A Bite's Tale (A Furry Fable), which I really hope will be released soon, because it sounds like it's going to be another good one!!
Edit 31/10/2014 - Why do I even read certain books?!!? Really, thats a good question Teresa!!!
This book wasn't simply bad it was horrifyng. I disliked every single page and the weird thing is that I was liking the first ones. I liked the whole analogy with the X-men, my favorite marvel comics of all times, but then even that got really annoying. I disliked the plot - lame, the style and the two main characters.
The love part just made me want to vomit the whole time. "I want you" "I want you too" "you don't like me, I'm no good." "no, I do. I like you" "I like you too" "Since the first time I saw you I've only had eyes for you" "I'm just a simple girl I can't be special" ... and that's just soooo lame and girlish.
Prob. it's just me, don't know, but this is one of the worst books I have ever read. Seen it, been there. ME???
I thoroughly enjoyed Something Witchy and totally recommend it if you're looking for a great read. This story wasn’t dystopian or too dark, but wasn’t too fluffy either. Perfect!
This author has subtle humor and I liked that there were witches and magic but the focus was on the romance between Hayden and Tessa. More perfections. The romance is almost always my favorite part!
I loved Hayden and I didn’t care that he was way too young for me. He was HOT. Who doesn’t love a bad-boy now and then? Especially one who, once he gets to know Tessa, realizes that other girls pale next to her. He’s never met someone like her, grows as a character, and realizes she’s worth working for.
Tessa has a less than desirable home life but she’s very protective of her little sister, Bree. Tessa worries over who will take care of Bree when she moves out one day. So, when Tessa learns she has natural magical powers that she only needs to nurture, she thinks it’ll be easier to take care of Bree. Wrong. Now, not only does she have to worry about being a casualty in the war between the witch covens, she has to keep Bree safe too. Yikes!
But Hayden is there to help…. With his big, strong muscles… but I digress.
I loved living their moments together and watching these two opposites fall in love. The kisses were steamy and all-in-all, I found it a very enjoyable ride.
We have Tessa who is on the cusp of becoming a very powerful witch and Hayden the hot, rich, bad-boy, Mr. love'em and leave'em. Tessa is caught inbetween to fractions of sorcerers. Both vying to win them to their own sides. Hayden has defended himself in several fights on school grounds and is persuaded to "guard" Tessa until a permanent bodyguard is found.
Both are drawn to each other, but want different things in life. Also, Tessa has already suffered from a broken heart recently from an ex-boyfriend. Tessa is falling for Hayden and Hayden is falling for Tessa. And I'm not telling anymore. Now go and get your copy and read it yourself!
I adored this book, in fact I couldn't hardly put it down. The story rolls out at a perfect pace. Never lags or leaves you in the dust wondering what in the hell just happened. Twists you don't even see coming, at least I didn't. And I love the main characters, both are strong in there own ways and aren't needy of one another. Love that! Now go! Go now and read it yourself!
Something Witchy This Way Comes is a YA Paranormal Romance.
Seventeen year old, Tessa McClean, has just been told someone is trying to kill her. Principal Linton and FBI agent Phillips believe it would be best if Hayden Anders, a rich bad boy who can handle his own in a fight, follow and protect Tessa until his replacement arrives.
Hayden has no desire to babysit Tessa but after promises of his slate being wiped clean, he agrees and at first he treats it like a babysitting job but soon takes his position seriously as he averts a kidnapping involving Tessa. Slowly he becomes ingrained to Tessa and there is nothing on Earth he wouldn't do to protect her.
Tessa has learned that she is a witch and is just coming into her powers. There are two groups of others like herself, vying for her membership into their ideals. Upon her eighteenth birthday, Tessa must decide on which factor of the fence she wishes to sit upon. Only, she doesn't know who to trust and as she learns more about herself, she realizes that the only person she can truly trust is Hayden.
As the two journey into the unknown, they must also come to the realization that they may have feelings for each other. Neither Hayden nor Tessa believe they are good enough for the other and as danger escalates, the two must believe in each other in order to survive the battle that is about to ensue.
This was a great book, there were very few editorial issues and the plot was decent. There were a few holes and a few surprises but everything blended well together to give it a balance that kept the reader continuing with the story.
When the story first progresses, the differentiation between Tessa and Hayden isn't felt, they appeared as the same person, but as the story progresses you soon see their characters begin to unfold and their essence fills the page. I thought the relationship between the two was a wonderful, emotional tug of war. The whole push me, pull me pace was enjoyable to read and just when you are about to get sick of the whole ordeal, the author turns up the heat and gives the reader more delight to feast upon.
The dialogue and emotions are real and raw, there are some expletives and sexual fantasy scenes but I felt they worked with the characters and gave them more of an edge to their creation. Oftentimes the author used comedic wit to the scenes giving it an even more humanistic appeal to the characters.
There were a few aspects that were predictable, however, there are more than enough twists and turns to keep everyone guessing. I thought the ending was perfect in its completion and I believe the author tied up most of the loose ends nicely.
I would give this a four and a half out of five stars, while I thoroughly loved it and would love to see this become a series as I still have a few questions concerning some of the back characters...like whatever happened to David? Could it be the author may have something else up her sleeve concerning this story?? After reading this, one can only hope!
What I Liked: Characters. Most of the characters in Something Witchy This Way Comes really surprised me. They were really interesting and just when I thought I had them figured out, they did something to change my opinion. Most notably Hayden, who for a majority of the novel is portrayed as this bad boy heart throb super player that is just a "Wham, bam, thank you ma'am"kind of guy. But when he's given the task of protecting Tessa, the main character, he really steps up and after a while we see a much sweeter side of him. And while he never actually stops being that bad boy that we all know and love, something does change in him. Tessa was a great character, strong and level-headed. I was just annoyed when she wouldn't give Hayden a chance! I mean, sure he doesn't have the best reputation, but everyone deserves a chance! Especially someone as sexy as him!
Steaminess. Holy askoiqweorjadoiflakdgoiuwelrkjag. QOEIURLKASDLFMKHLFJDF. This book is delicious! Not in a hugely sexual way, but there was this wonderful tension between Tessa and Hayden for the longest time!
The witches. These weren't your average witches. They had some pretty cool powers, especially Tessa. But, the guy witches were super hardcore! It was awesome to read a story where there wasn't just awesome girl witches, but some pretty cool magical guys too.
What I Didn't Like:
Tessa's parents. You'll understand why when you read the book, but they were literally the most despicable people. They were the only characters I did not like at all. They literally just didn't care about their kids. And when I say they didn't care, they didn't care. I just wanted to slap them in the face, especially Tessa's mom.
The ending. (Well, a bit of it anyway.) The ending was bad at all, it just kinda felt a little too neatly wrapped up. I guess it let me down from what I was expecting. The whole book was building up to this confrontation between the two opposing witch covens... and then it was over. Things still weren't totally peachy keen after, but still. I'm wondering if this is a stand-alone, because that could be why it ended so clean-cut. I hope not, I want more Hayden!!
I love Something Witchy This Way Comes, and I definitely recommend it! 5 out of 5 stars!
Veronica Blade easily bewitches readers with her phenomenal young adult novel Something Witchy This Way Comes!
To put it simply, I loved this book. The main character, Tessa is sassy, brave, smart and completely unsuspecting of what is about to come her way. Imagine being 17 years old and suddenly learning that you are a witch with fantastic powers and that there are two groups vying for you to join them. If you just happen to choose the wrong one, death may always lurk around the corner for you. Add to that the fact that you only have 2 months until your 18th birthday, which is "D" day and there just may be a bit of stress to endure. Did I mention that the hottest boy in school, who happens to be a huge womanizer, has been given the job of protecting you? Yeah, not so much your average day in a teenage life. However, it certainly brings some pizzazz and excitement to your life!
Hayden, who is the womanizer given the job to protect Tessa, is part of the "in" crowd and hangs around some not-so-nice people. Not so overly thrilled with his "job", he has little choice if he wants to get a glowing recommendation from the Principal and get a second chance to bring up his grades.
Two opposites with absolutely nothing in common....
It doesn't take long for the chemistry to explode between Tessa and Hayden, no matter how much they try to deny it. Spending day after day together, they both make unexpected discoveries and Hayden soon realizes that he will do anything to protect Tessa and keep her from harm's way.
Something Witchy This Way Comes is full of paranormal twists and turns, self-discoveries, courage, loyalty, trust and surprises. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every aspect of this book. Veronica Blade has an incredible talent for story telling and bringing characters to life vividly, to really allow the reader to invest themselves within both Tessa and Hayden, as well as the secondary characters.
I truly cannot wait for the next release from Veronica Blade. I highly recommend Something Witchy This Way Comes to any lover of paranormal stories!
I read this book a while ago and lost my review when I deleted my old account but I remember the gist of it and I remember that I did not like this book, at all.
The story is, to put it mildly, absolutely ridiculous. Basically Tessa is a teenage girl, she discovers that she is a witch (or something like that) and, the principal of her high school (whom she does not know) knows it too AND he gives her a "bodyguard"...a teenage bodyguard whose name is Hayden (of course, he's the baddest of the baddest). And it gets worse and worse from here.
Her parents are shitty, at least, I remember her mother is. She had a big sister who died and since then, her mother is a zombie and she makes it clear that she does not love Tessa or her little brother. At some point, Tessa says that she's gonna ask for her little brother's custody and her mom is like: "Go for it!", I think (I don't remember all the details)... her father cheats on his mom and everybody knows it but, same here, nobody gives a shit.
Also, Tessa discovers that her grandmother is the leader of one of the coven (there are two covens: good and bad) and that she is very powerful and that she loves her deeply when for 17 years of her life or so, the old woman did not give signs of life even when Tessa's life was terrible. And it's not over because Tessa discovers that her older sister is still freaking alive, and you know how she comes to this conclusion? Because witches cannot die except if you severe their head from their body...yep! So Tessa big ol' sister was buried alive for God knows how long! Obviously, they go dig her up and she is indeed alive and well.
And the entire book is full of things like that. I don't remember all the details because I've read it quite some time ago but Something Witchy This Way Comes was definitely not a book for me. I did not like it, the characters were not very likable and believable either. The whole story was ridiculous and the writing style wasn't much to my liking either, unfortunately.
I thoroughly enjoyed Something Witchy and totally recommend it if you're looking for a great read. This story wasn't dystopian or too dark, but wasn't too fluffy either. Perfect!
This author has subtle humor and I liked that there were witches and magic but the focus was on the romance between Hayden and Tessa. More perfections. The romance is almost always my favorite part!

I loved living their moments together and watching these two opposites fall in love. The kisses were steamy and all-in-all, I found it a very enjoyable ride.
This is the story of an ongoing battle between "good vs. evil" concerning magickal creatures, specifically witches, and two high-school seniors that just come into their powers and have to deal with both sides wanting them.
Tessa, the heroin, is being sought out by people from both of the sides of witches. She has to decide who to trust and join, finding out more about the mysteries of her family history along the way. She is likable right from the beginning because she isn't the annoying popular girl, she isn't vain, she is responsible, and mostly she doesn't have that extremely annoying attitude that most teenage girls have. She also takes very good care of her younger sister, Bree, as her parents couldn't care less about their kids. Hayden, the hero, is a delinquent who was given the job to "protect" Tessa as they were told that someone was was out to get her. He is not a bad person at heart, but he had a lot left to be desired for most of the books. He is a "man-whore" who is part of the douche-bag crowd at school. He has been abused by his step-father for the longest while. Hayden had major character development and atleast the author didn't make him the way other YA other do. His narration was slightly different than Tessa's. He wasn't all in touch with his emotions and pondering about the beauty of Tessa the way that no actual guy would do but most YA authors seem to love making their male characters do. (Why do other YA authors do that? And more importantly, why do the readers actually buy that crap?)
The best thing about these two characters are that they don't really judge by appearance. They are just like, "Yeah, that person is gorgeous. Moving on, how is he/she actually like as a person? " They weren't vain. Ofcourse they each thought that the other was physically attractive but in a normal thought-process way. Hayden gets up from his chair and walks away. Tess glances at him and observes that he has a nice butt. That's it. Nothing mushy-gushy. No page long descriptions of how the sun brightened hair and made it shine, giving off an angelic halo. Basically, no bullshit.
I was very surprised that this book was as good as it was. The author is definitely a good writer. There is mystery in this book and let me tell you, it wasn't predictable. I seriously didn't expect any of what occurred. Absolutely nothing. Well, except that the book would end with the heroin being happy, but that was pretty much bound to happen. The whole "good vs. evil" thing wasn't overly done. The author didn't delve so deeply into the topic and the magic world that you feel completely lost because the the beginning of the book is nothing like the ending. This was done very nicely. For example, it was mentioned that other supernatural characters existed, but none showed up and made the plot ugly. Also, the book didn't suddenly turn all shadowy with all the danger-lurking-about feeling.
I only have one teensy complaint about the book, the reason that it's not on my "loved-6-stars" shelf. I really didn't like thing about Hayden being a previous man-whore. Why couldn't he be just another smart, but not completely nice guy? Why does the hero of all YA books have to be a reformed man-whore? Come on people! It's called creativity, realism, and originality! Character development would have been slightly more challenging, but being able to pull that off would have made the author more creative and genius. No more man-whore reformer books for me. I dislike them.
Overall: This was very good book. Realistic, nonirritating, and grounded characters are the best part of the story. The plot will draw you in without sucking you into that supernatural vortex that can be too horribly overwhelming. Read this book and you will not be reading the annoying teenage angst, constant pining over significant other, or any giant paragraphs that nobody wants to read.
I would recommend this book to readers who like reading YA books but doesn't like the usual petty high-school drama. This book is perfect for you. :D
Wow! I am completely left speechless from this book. I have not came across a book i have fell in love with in a long time. This book was absolutely brilliant. I was sucked in from the first page. Twilighters: THIS BOOK, NOW - YES! =) . I loved everything about this book. It gives you pretty much everything a book can give: witches, action, romance, mystery, drama. I laughed, got frustrated and tried to strangle my Kindle (in a good way of course) and of course me being the wimp i am, even teared up when reading this book.
This is a very good take on witches, i have certainly never read anything i could say was like this really. Very good take on the trials and tribulations of finding out who you are and how to accept it, and you go on that journey with Tessa, as she learns she is a witch while still in high school and then is thrown HUGE hurdles and made to make HUGE decisions that are literally life and death choices potentially, and her trying to figure out who she can trust and who she is as a witch and a person both. She doesn't really have any parents because they basically don't even want her, she only really has all these people telling her what she is and what she has to do and what she should do and why. She is a very good female lead, she is very brave but also very unsure of herself when it comes to her love life and private life, and i think we can all relate to her in some ways. And as for Hayden, the male lead .... well let's just say him and Tessa are what made me want to strangle my kindle lifeless. Besdies the fact the he also finds out he is a witch/sorcerer while he is being made to watch Tessa because she is told she is in danger from 2 rivalry witch communities. He and Tessa want each other so badly, so much sexual tension between them, so much chemistry, but either he was being a jerk or she was saying no she couldn't trust him. Which given his background of being a partying man-whore i can kinda understand. But everyone deserve's a second chance and i really came to like him alot as well, when it comes to these books i am "team Hayden" when it comes to Tessa.
I think you will find this a very, very great read, whether you are YA or adult, i think it has something for everyone. It will for sure go down as one of my favorite books. And i want to thank the author, for giving me the chance to read her amazing book.
This book jumps right to the point of the story, with Hayden, a delinquent that knows how to protect himself, being asked to look after fellow classmate Tessa until the proper protection detail arrives to do it themselves. The only reason Hayden does it is because the school administrator said he could make quite a bit of his misbehavior disappear from his permanent file and help him get his grades up a bit before graduation. Lucky for them Hayden’s trying to turn his life around and willing to go along with it cause he had no idea what he’d really gotten himself into. And neither did poor Tessa, who finds out she’s coming into some magical powers. Not really a bad thing, but there are two covens out there that expect her to take a side in a war that’s been going on forever. Both have hidden objectives that make it difficult for Tessa to choose, especially when she learns her older sister’s choice got her killed.
What I really enjoyed the most was the romantic tension between the two as they were now forced to spend all their time together. Hayden is a little bit free with the women…well, actually, he’s quite the hound dog. Tessa had one bad experience with a guy and finds it hard to trust any of them, particularly Hayden, who hooks up with a girl everywhere he goes. But she can’t deny an attraction is growing for him exponentially, and his jealous behavior every time a guy moves in on her proves he’s having the same problem.
I loved this book. The plot moved smoothly, as did their relationship and I enjoyed every minute of their frustration. Alright, there were times when I wanted to smack Tessa and tell her to get over Hayden’s past and realize he was trying really hard to better himself for her, but mostly, I just loved it. Something Witchy This Way Comes is definitely for mature audiences and worth every minute you spend reading it!
My Cover Thoughts: I absolutely love this cover. I love the full moon and the Pentacle.
My Thoughts/Review: This book is crazy! I absolutely loved it. It starts off with Tessa in trouble and she doesn’t even know it. She is then assigned a body guard for her protection and when she finds out who it is she is not happy.
At first they stay far away from each other but as time goes on Tessa finds out why she needs to be protected and who wants to hurt her. As she discovers this she finds herself falling in love with the most unlikely person….her body guard and the funny thing is is that he is acting weird to.
Chait oh man what to say about him.He is in love with someone he can’t have and he has to come to terms with it. But in the end he gets a perfect gift….
Memorable Quotes:“I can’t be without you. You get that, don’t you?” I nodded and kissed him, sending tiny electrons whizzing through my body, urging me to move things quickly, but making me want to freeze this moment in time.
Blade, Veronica (2011-09-03). Something Witchy This Way Comes (Kindle Locations 8205-8238). Crush Publishing. Kindle Edition.
Advice: This is a must read for all lovers of Paranormal books! Veronica Blade you have out done yourself!
The story is written in two POVs: Tessa and Haden’s. Hayden is summoned to the high school’s new principal’s office, and is enlisted to be Tessa’s bodyguard while on school grounds. The Principal believes Tessa is in danger. Hayden resists this offer, but with a little convincing from the principal, he reluctantly agrees. Tessa on the other hand wonders why she requires a bodyguard, and even much worse, that it has to be Hayden –He is known as the love them leave them kind of guy, with a reputation of fighting and bullying other students. Eventually she finds out from the principal that she is a sorceress. She also finds out the principal isn’t who people think he is. And that there are two factions who are vying to recruit her to join their ranks, and pursue her relentlessly. As the story progresses, Tessa learns how to control her newfound powers, and Hayden finds himself falling for Tessa and becomes very protective of her. Tessa on the other hand, doesn’t trust him, and she has had a bad experience with her former boyfriend. She discovers beneath all that bad boy impression Hayden proudly displays, there is something more to him. As much as she tried how she feels about him, she finds herself falling for him. Around each other’s constant company, she discovers something about Hayden that completely changes his life. As her eighteenth birthday approaches, she knows she has to choose one group. This was a great story. I found myself sympathizing with both Hayden and Tessa for what they’ve gone through. I highly recommend this book.
I am not so used to doing reviews, so I'll see how it goes. This story is about Tessa and Hayden; how their relationship develops and how they inter into the world of witches. Personally I love a good romance so I liked that there was a lot of focus on their relationship. If you want the focus to be mainly on the supernatural universe, then maybe this is not the book for you. The universe in this book is not unique, but as I haven't read many books about witches it didn't feel as old as many vampire books tend to. So, the book is about Tessa and how she finds out that she is a witch, Hayden is then asked to help protect her. In the beginning they don't really get along, but this slowly changes. Don't get me wrong, there is some mutual attraction in the beginning, but it takes a while before they actually do something about it. I personally like it when there is time for the relationship to develop, it seems more real... and makes the butterflies in my stomach happy :) The storyline is fairly straight forward, and I could guess a lot of what would happen, however it didn't ruin the book for me. Again I felt like it was a cute romance in an interesting universe. Also the characters were not as perfect as they sometimes are, they both came from families with problems. Also there was character development, which is always nice. All in all I really liked the book, and would recommend it to people who like a good romance in an alternative setting.
Hayden is somewhat of a bad boy and gets all of the girls in high school. When the vice principal asks him to act as a body guard for another student, of course his answer is a resounding no. Once he meets the girl he's to protect, however, it's not all that difficult to change his mind. With problems at home and a future to figure out, he may not have much of a choice anyway.
Tessa is blindsided when the principal and an FBI agent call her into their office and explain her family is in trouble. She doesn't want Hayden as a bodyguard, but she can't risk anything happening to her little sister either.
Who are the bad guys and who are the good? You have to read to find out. This is a teen magic story, a la Harry Potter, but with a much different feel. The characters are pretty yet gritty. There are real teen issues to deal with. Instead of being whisked off to a magical world, we find that magic exists in our own world.
I really couldn't put this down. It ended far too quickly for me. There was some great plot twists tossed in that surprised me. It took me awhile to figure out who I was supposed to be rooting for. Just remember, sometimes the bad guys are good and vice versa.
If you're looking for an entertaining, engrossing tale, Blade is the one to pick up. From teen to adult, I can't imagine anyone not absolutely adoring this book.
my review of Something Witchy This Way Comes by Veronica Blade
Rating 5*****
This book was provided free from the author in exchange of honest literary review.
Tessa has lived the last seventeen and a half years in near obscurity. Her parents stopped caring over ten years ago. She's not a member of the pooular clique at school, and she's raising her five year old sister. If that wasn't enough now her life is in danger! When informed by agents posing as staff at school she needed a bodyguard for protection, Tessa thought they haf simply lost their mind. After meeting with Hayden, she realizes dark times may have a silver living. Hayden is a teenage girls dream....smoking hot, dreamy, and 100% bad boy. Oh and by the way Tessa is a witch coming into her powers....
Ok I love Veronica Blade. I sat down and read this whole book in one evening. Absolutely awesome!!!!! Characters are believeable and true to life. The story holds you right there turning page after page on the edge of your chair. Tessa has strength I hope my own daughter will possess as she grows into a young woman. This novel is a no brainer ....just phenomenal ...and every other adjective I can give here. NOTE TO AUTHOR ....THIS WILL BR A SERIES RIGHT?????? I AM SO NOT DONE WITH THESE CHARACTERS AND THEIR STORY!!!!!!!!
Very seldom is a book so good that I wouldn’t mind if it was somehow made into a series. Characters I like so much that I would love to explore their world some more.
Something Witchy This Way Comes was exactly that! I’d love to have more time with Tessa and Hayden. Discovering more about the covens and their powers would be awesome.
This book had three of my favorite things: One, it had a paring of two people with very different personalities. (Good girl, bad boy.) Two, it had alternating POV’s! (I love getting inside peoples heads.) Three, the supernatural witch stuff. (My favorite).
And that’s what I loved the most. I’m really interested in paranormal/supernatural stuff, so this book was right up my alley. All the practicing and fighting and action was elating to read about. Especially between Hayden and Chait! ;)
Putting Hayden and Tessa together was so sweet! I love how he slowly changes. Though Tessa pissed me off with her back and forth emotions!
Great story. Great characters. (Tessa’s grandma!!) Great twists.
Something Witchy This Way Comes....is a true delight one that I would recommend to everyone!
Tessa and Hayden could be me, I related to their thoughts their experiences I could know them hell I could have been them in high school...minus the whole witch aspect of their lives....though I would love to be able to do some of what they could do.
I found the book extremely hard to put down. I really hope this isn't the last we hear from Tessa and Hayden.
Loved how the goodie girl of school to the point of almost awkward about it gets thrown into a situation of being protected by the bad boy. It is the classic story that has been told over and over in books and movies but Veronica has found a way that puts a fresh spin on it. One that intrigues you grabs hold and takes you on a wonderful coaster ride through the pulls of good and evil.
A must read for anyone who loves a suspenseful, romantic, and thrilling story about witches and the sides of good and evil. Amanda
Oh wow. Seriously I have to gush for a minute. I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. I could not get enough. *Sighs* I'm super sad it's over! I so want more of Tessa and Hayden but the ending was still perfect.
This is a YA paranormal romance leaning more towards the older end of the spectrum. I have such a thing for the tortured bad boy who turns out to have a heart. I love when the bad boy falls for the good girl. *Sighs* Tessa is an amazing heroine. She is strong with a big heart. If you love a book with paranormal action and a heavy dose of hot romance than this is your book. Seriously. Go. Read it.
Veronica Blade is amazingly talented!! This one is definitely one of my new favourites.
I completely fell head over heels in love with this book (and with Hayden, too)!! I had trouble putting it down...even while on vacation! I really like how Veronica Blade pulled it all together -there wasn't a single dull moment in the book. Tessa always knows what she wants and isn't whiney about the downfalls in her life. She's also very driven and takes on a huge responsiblity when her parents "checked out" (for lack of a better term). There is also a slight love triangle, but not a "torn between two epic loves" kind of triangle which is very refreshing. This book is just fantastic! Definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!
I could not believe how much I fell in love with this book! It was a free grab on my Kindle Fire so I decided to try it. That was also less than 24 hours ago. Tessa and Hayden captured my attention in the first 5 seconds. I usually only like the love interest as a bonus to the main plot but it was the other way around for me this time. I think maybe it was the type of relationship they had with each other that was intriguing, or it could also be how relatable Tessa's reluctance towards letting herself get too close to a guy that's that much of a douch. Either way I liked the way she handled herself and am happy for the happiness they deserve.
I really enjoyed this book. The guy Hayden sounds sexy & dreamy - I like the bad boys :P
I was up until 4am reading it totally hooked to the suspense and love/hate relationship of Tessa & Hayden. Veronica does a good job at keeping a good storyline there and moving along (no dull pages or chapters where it's just dragging) but the relationship between the two main characters is really what makes the story. Personally, I love that! If that's something you like too then I would highly recommend reading it.
The more I think about this book the more I fall in love with it....it had everything a great book should and didn't dissapoint! I love the romance in this book and how it the author didn't try and shove a love triangle down ur throat even thu there were two great guys : ) I don't often give 5 stars but this book totally deserves it!
