My sister recently gave me this book as a birthday present. I love wine, so she thought it would make a good gift. (She was correct!) Aside from the wine connection I didn't know what to expect; now that I've read it, I have to say this is excellent literature. Kristof’s stories don't follow any particular formula and the fiction sub-genres are diverse. The book is interesting and fresh throughout. The stories are simply wonderful! Kristof writes with a degree of freedom that most authors will avoid, due to the potentially disastrous pitfall of losing the reader. He takes those risks to transport the reader to places that only a very vivid imagination can create. The result is an equally vivid experience! And, yes, I did enjoy a few glasses of wine while reading some of the stories, which seemed quite appropriate! :)
